NJ Judge Rules Deviant Sexual Behavior is Normal

While mental health professionals have been redefining sexual norms for many years, this week's ruling by a New Jersey judge is not only intended to create a common law basis for the normality of homosexual behavior, it also means that anyone, including clergy, who agrees to counsel a person desperate to overcome homosexual temptation, is committing an illegal, fraudulent act.
“We can now stand before state legislatures and point to this ruling, which confirms that testimony from anyone who claims conversion therapy is effective and safe is not an expert in the medical or mental health fields.”

Hudson County Superior Court Judge Peter Bariso Jr. ruled Tuesday against the Jersey City-based Jews Offering New Alternatives for Healing [JONAH]. He said JONAH's claims are illegal based on the state's Consumer Fraud Act.

JONAH has been sued by four men and two of their mothers, alleging their methods don't work.

Bariso also ruled last week that JONAH could not call proponents who planned to offer testimony that homosexuality is an illness.

From "N.J. judge calls gay conversion therapy claims fraud" by Andrew Seidman, Philadelphia Inquirer Trenton Bureau 2/12/15

The ruling is the first time a judge in the United States has found that as a matter of law, homosexuality is a normal variation of human sexuality and not a disease or disorder, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center [SPLC], a prominent civil rights group whose lawsuit spurred the judge's order.

The American Psychiatric Association declassified homosexuality as a mental disorder in 1973, and the American Psychological Association says conversion therapy can cause depression and suicidal thoughts.

. . . lawyer Charles LiMandri told the Associated Press that [JONAH] used disorder in the context of Jewish law, and was not speaking of homosexuality as a psychological disorder.

"They're not your typical target of Consumer Fraud Act defendants who are making misrepresentations of people," LiMandri said. "They're just trying to help people who are in distress get help if they want it. If they don't want it, that's fine."

This week, in a lawsuit brought against the counseling group by that man and three others, a State Superior Court judge in Hudson County, N.J., ruled that counselors selling so-called conversion therapy with claims that homosexuality was a curable mental disorder were engaged in consumer fraud.

The judge also wrote that promoting the therapy by touting “success” statistics “when there is no factual basis for calculating such statistics” would further violate the law. He did not address whether Jonah had done so.

. . . Judge Bariso prohibited Jonah from calling five expert witnesses because, he said, their supposed expertise rested on the faulty premise that homosexuality was a sickness. He allowed a sixth expert witness to testify on a separate issue.

Bariso granted partial summary judgment to the plaintiffs, four young men who obtained gay conversion therapy–referred to by the court as sexual orientation change efforts, or SOCE—through Jews Offering New Alternatives for Healing (JONAH), plus two of their mothers.

JONAH is a Jersey City, N.J., nonprofit formerly known as Jews Offering New Alternatives to Homosexuality.

JONAH had tried to justify statements that homosexuality is unhealthy based on information from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control about HIV and AIDS but Bariso noted that he had already determined such evidence was irrelevant in ruling on the experts because the case does not turn on any harms that might be caused by homosexual conduct.

The suit was brought as a test case by Southern Poverty Law Center, a nonprofit legal advocacy organization based in Montgomery, Ala. . . .

JONAH is being represented by the group Rancho Santa Fe, California-based legal group the Freedom of Conscience Defense Fund.

Charles S. LiMandri, president and chief counsel at the Defense Fund, told The Christian Post that he was "disappointed" with the decision and felt that it could provide "great grounds for an appeal" if they lose at that court level [when a jury trial begins in June 2015].

LiMandri also told CP that despite Bariso's decision on the experts, the judge left intact a "religious liberty defense" for JONAH that could undermine the plaintiff's case.

"Whatever statements that they made regarding homosexuality being disordered was in the context of them being a religious ministry," said LiMandri.

Media Filter Pope's Procreation Declarations

Last month the media ferociously broadcast that the Pope was overly concerned about his flock "breeding like rabbits," and yet this week when the Pope called childless adults "selfish" for not procreating, the media went nearly silent.
“A society with a greedy generation, that doesn’t want to surround itself with children, that considers them above all worrisome, a weight, a risk, is a depressed society.”

Pope Francis, who presumably has not been woken up at 4 a.m. on a workday by the howls of a tiny human who wants to be fed and/or changed, says that couples who don’t want to have kids are “selfish” and are part of a “greedy generation.”

Pope Francis told an audience in St Peter’s Square, Rome Wednesday that it’s a depressed society that considers children to be a burden.

“The choice to not have children is selfish. Life rejuvenates and acquires energy when it multiplies: It is enriched, not impoverished.”

Pope Francis said there was a strong correlation between hope in society and “inter-generational harmony.”

From "Pope Francis: not having children is selfish" by Stephanie Kirchgaessner, UK Guardian 2/11/15

The remarks echoed his earlier comments on the topic of childlessness. Last year, he warned against the lure of a “culture of wellbeing” that can come when a couple does not have children and has the money and freedom to take nice holidays and buy a second home in the countryside.

“It might be better, more comfortable, to have a dog, two cats, and the love goes to the two cats and the dog,” he said. “Is this true or is this not? Have you seen it? Then, in the end, this marriage comes to old age in solitude, with the bitterness of loneliness.”

“The joy of children makes their parents hearts throb and reopens the future,” he said. “Children are not a problem of reproductive biology, or one of many ways to realize oneself in life. Let alone their parent’s possession. Children are a gift. Do you understand? Children are a gift,” he added.

From "Life is enriched with the birth of children, pope says at audience" by Cindy Wooden, Catholic News Service 2/11/15

"The generation of children must be responsible," as Blessed Paul VI wrote in his encyclical "Humanae Vitae," the pope said. "But having more children cannot be looked upon automatically as an irresponsible choice. What is more, not having children is a selfish choice."

Continuing a series of talks about the family, Pope Francis said birthrates are a clear indication of the optimism and hope of a couple and of the society in which they live.

A society that pressures people not to have children, "that considers them a concern, a burden, a risk, is a society that is depressed," he said, pointing particularly to European countries with declining populations because of their low birthrates.

Departing from his prepared text, Pope Francis told the estimated 11,000 people in St. Peter's Square that he was one of five children. "I remember my mom would say, 'I have five children. Who's my favorite? I have five children like I have five fingers. If you slam this one, it hurts. If you slam that one, it hurts. All five would hurt. All are mine, but they are all different like the fingers on my hand.'"

From "Pope calls not having kids a 'selfish choice'" by Joshua J. McElwee, National Catholic Reporter 2/11/15

Nearly one month after suggesting Catholics may have a moral obligation to limit the number of their children, Pope Francis has said that families that choose not to have kids are being selfish.

"Let's think of many societies that we know here in Europe," said the pope. "They are depressed societies because they do not want children, they do not have children. The level of birth does not arrive at one percent."

Francis also reemphasized the duty of children to honor their parents, saying that the Fourth Commandment "contains something sacred, something divine, something that is at the root of every other type of respect between men."

"A society of children that does not honor their parents is a society without honor," said Francis. "Who you do not honor parents you lose your honor."

In many Western countries couples are not having enough children, at least 2.1 on average per family, to replace their existing populations. Italy’s current fertility rate is 1.42 children per woman; Germany, 1.43; Spain, 1.48; France 2.08; Switzerland, 1.54; and Britain, 1.90. The United States is on the line, with a fertility rate of 2.01 children on average per woman.

'God Bless America' Banned from Florida School

Heaven forbid: A student at Yulee (Florida) High School read the morning announcements over the intercom and concluded by saying "God Bless America."  Supposedly, two anonymous atheist students who were offended by those words, but who did NOT say anything to school administrators, contacted the American Humanist Association (AHA), who in turn threatened the school.
"It was crazy... I think everyone has the right of freedom of speech and freedom of religion. I hope he does it again. We want to let him know he should not be ashamed, that he did the right thing. I don't see what this young man has done wrong.... We need to stand out here and stand up for him."

The atheist students at Yulee High in Nassau County took their complaints to the American Humanist Association, and the group's lawyers [the Appignani Humanist Legal Center] sent a letter threatening the school with a lawsuit.

First Coast News reports that the group said it is "inappropriate and unlawful" for a public school to use God in an official statement.

In response, the school district said students were free to express their beliefs all day long, but not during school announcements.

The student used the phrase to end the announcements on multiple occasions, according to the American Humanist Association, which sent a letter to the school's principal threatening legal action if the school did not respond within seven days. The incident thrust Yulee into the national spotlight after the AHA got involved.

Parker says she doesn't have any kids in high school yet, but said she will continue to support the student at Yulee.

Principal Natasha Drake's response to the American Humanist Association said the student's “God bless America,” statement was not part of the approved scripted announcements.

To avoid a possible lawsuit for violation of the [non-existent] separation of church and state clause, the principal told the student to stop saying 'God Bless America.'

"I'm confused," said Jade Richmond.

She is a sophomore at Yulee High. She said her fellow student has done it this way all school year.

"Why is it a problem," said Richmond. " We have had posters with the LGBT message and no one has a problem with that."

The AHA said the student violated the Constitution and broke the law by invoking God’s name over the public address system. They demanded the school immediately cease and desist under the threat of a lawsuit.

I asked Jeremy Dys, an attorney with Liberty Institute to weigh in on this nonsense and he said the atheists don’t have a prayer.

"Whether a student is being patriotic or engaging in religious speech, there is no law in this country forbidding a student from telling his or her classmates, ‘God bless America’ and it is illegal for a school to censor a student for doing so,” he said.

“Regardless of this attempt by secularists to white wash over this demonstration of patriotism by a teenager, America’s students do not give up their right to free speech and the expression of their religious beliefs when they go to school,” he said.

Confirmed: Obama = Liar in Chief RE 'Gay Marriage'

In his about-to-be-released book, David Axelrod, the man responsible for all of Barack Obama's election victories of his brief political career, confirms what many people knew in 2008:  Barack Obama first advocated the Gay Agenda many decades ago.  Now today, the president and his current crop of apologists are lying again, saying Obama didn't ever lie about his position on deviant sexual lifestyles.
“Opposition to gay marriage was particularly strong in the black church, and as he ran for higher office, he grudgingly accepted the counsel of more pragmatic folks like me, and modified his position to support civil unions rather than marriage, which he would term a ‘sacred union.’”
-- David Axelrod (excerpt from his book)

No, no, no . . . “[Axelrod is] mixing up my personal feelings with my position on the issue. . . . I think the notion that somehow I was always in favor of marriage per se isn't quite accurate.”

David Axelrod said that he and other political strategists advised him to say that he only supported civil unions, not full gay marriage rights, according to excerpts of his new book obtained by Time magazine.

Obama apparently struggled with the task, complaining to Axelrod that he was “just not very good at bullshitting” after a campaign event where he stopped short of endorsing gay marriage.

Last year, a book by journalist Jo Becker reported that the decision in 2012 over how, if and when to roll out an announcement by Obama in favor of gay marriage was extensively debated among top political strategists.

From "Axelrod: Obama Misled Nation When He Opposed Gay Marriage In 2008" by Zeke J Miller, Time Magazine 2/10/15

Barack Obama misled Americans for his own political benefit when he claimed in the 2008 election to oppose same sex marriage for religious reasons, his former political strategist David Axelrod writes in a new book, Believer: My Forty Years in Politics.

The insider’s account provides the clearest look yet at Obama’s long-established flip-flop, one of the blemishes on his record as a progressive. The admission of Obama’s embrace of deception also calls into question the President’s stated embrace of a new kind of politics in 2008, when he promised to be unlike other politicians who change their views to match the political winds. “Having prided himself on forthrightness, though, Obama never felt comfortable with his compromise and, no doubt, compromised position,” Axelrod writes. “He routinely stumbled over the question when it came up in debates or interviews.”

As a state senate candidate in 1996, Obama filled out a questionnaire saying “I favor legalizing same-sex marriages, and would fight efforts to prohibit such marriages.” But 12 years later as a candidate for president, Obama told Rick Warren’s Saddleback Church that marriage could only extend to heterosexual couples. “I believe that marriage is the union between a man and a woman,” Obama said at the time. “Now, for me as a Christian — for me — for me as a Christian, it is also a sacred union. God’s in the mix.”

From "White House doesn't deny Axelrod coached Obama to lie about gay marriage" by Lynn Sweet, Chicago Sun-Times 2/10/15

The White House did not deny on Tuesday the revelation in David Axelrod’s new book that he coached President Barack Obama to lie about his support for gay marriage.

I asked Axelrod if the “believer in you” was comfortable in counseling Obama to modify his stand on gay marriage. I asked because that advice struck me as cynical, especially during the 2008 Obama campaign of “hope” and “change.”

“Well, this is always a delicate balance you know, because my belief was that Barack Obama as president of the United States would do more for the country and frankly more for the cause of non-discrimination than anyone else,” Axelrod said. “But he had to win, and my fear was that issue would become a distraction, so I’ll let others make value judgments about that.”

“If Obama’s views were ‘evolving’ publicly, they were fully evolved behind closed doors,” Axelrod added.

From "Yes, Obama Was Lying About Opposing Same-Sex Marriage" by David A. Graham, The Atlantic 2/10/15

Even in 2008, Barack Obama sharply divided Democrats and Republicans. It wasn't just a matter of policy disputes; it was a question of whether he was acting in good faith. (Prominent conservatives remain convinced that he hates America.) On one point, though, both liberals and conservatives agreed. Both sides were pretty sure Obama was lying when he said he opposed gay marriage.

There were good reasons to believe Obama was bullshitting, to use his term. In 1996, while running for Illinois state senate, he answered a question from a gay newspaper, saying, "I favor legalizing same-sex marriages, and would fight efforts to prohibit such marriages.” (In a classic political we're-stupid-not-dishonest maneuver, Obama communications director Dan Pfeiffer tried to claim Obama hadn't actually filled out the survey.) While running for reelection two years later, he said he was undecided. By 2006, he was citing his Christian beliefs as a reason for opposing gay marriage but adding that he was willing to consider the idea that his stance was "misguided."

So by 2008, Obama's supposed opposition was a fiction, but it was a politically effective one. The press could and did report that Obama had previously felt otherwise, but no one could prove he was lying. Liberals remained convinced that in his heart of hearts, he was lying and would eventually publicly back marriage equality. Conservatives remained convinced that in his heart of hearts, he was lying and was just waiting to announce his backing for marriage equality. (The one group that was unwilling to abide this situation, understandably, was gay activists, who insisted that rights couldn't be a matter of patience and pressured Obama to speak out at every turn.)

. . . Sometimes, lying does pay.

From "Obama disputes aide David Axelrod's take on gay marriage" by The Associated Press 2/11/15

President Barack Obama is disputing a longtime aide's view that Obama feigned opposition to gay marriage, compromising his true beliefs out of concern it could hurt him with voters.

Obama told BuzzFeed News that "I always felt that same-sex couples should be able to enjoy the same rights, legally, as anybody else and so it was frustrating to me not to, I think, be able to square that with what were a whole bunch of religious sensitivities out there." He added that he thought civil unions were "a sufficient way of squaring the circle," but that "the pain and the sense of stigma that was being placed on same-sex couples who are friends of mine" changed his mind.

He indicated his support for gay marriage in a 1996 questionnaire before backtracking years later. The president called that questionnaire "an example of struggling with what was a real issue at the time, which is, how do you make sure that people's rights are enjoyed and these religious sensitivities were taken into account?"

From "Obama Says He Didn’t Mislead on Gay Marriage" by Zeke J Miller, Time Magazine 2/11/15

President Barack Obama maintained in a new interview that he “evolved” on gay marriage, despite a top aide’s assertion in a new book that he was “bullshitting” in 2008 when he opposed the unions.

Obama told BuzzFeed that longtime political guru David Axelrod didn’t accurately characterize his position when Axelrod wrote in his new book that Obama shifted on the issue for political gains. But the President proved unable to explain why he moved away from supporting the unions despite supporting them as a state Senate candidate in 1996.

Asked specifically about the old questionnaire, Obama offered no explanation for why he said he supported the unions before deciding to oppose them.

“The old questionnaire, you know, is an example of struggling with what was a real issue at the time,” Obama said.

From "Obama Didn’t Just Lie about Opposing Gay Marriage; He Kept Citing His Faith While Doing It" by Andrew Johnson, National Review Online 2/10/15

Obama’s use of faith to explain his opposition to same-sex marriage dates back to his bid for Illinois’s Senate seat in 2004. The New York Times notes that Obama began to cite religion as the reason for his position on the issue during his race against Republican Alan Keyes, suggesting that it was part of an effort to court black voters who generally opposed the redefinition of marriage. During a debate with Keyes, when pushed to explain his position on the matter, Obama emphasized his faith.

“What I believe, in my faith, is that a man and a woman when they get married are performing something before God, and it’s not simply the two persons who are meeting,” he said. He went on to praise then-president George W. Bush for his “healthy” reversal in supporting civil unions, a position candidate Obama agreed with.

Elsewhere on the Senate campaign trail, Obama echoed that position, saying he opposed same-sex marriage but not civil unions. “The term ‘marriage’ itself has strong religious roots and a strong tradition that means something special to people in this country,”? he told reporters.

Ron Wagner, a parent of Lyman High School in Longwood, FL who says he's "not religious," complained that his 10th grade son was forced to make an Islamic prayer rug and recite “There is no god, but [Allah]. It’s isn’t so much that Wagner is against Islam that the district was focusing on one religion, heavily.

“There’s a difference between teaching of the significance or the impact of a religion and teaching the specific tenets of a religion,” Wagner said.

Dr. Blasewitz said the missing pages about Judaism and Christianity are the result of a manufacturing defect, but did not say whether the district will request new books.

Before walking out on the interview, Dr. Blasewitz said students learn about other religions in earlier grades.

"Students were instructed to recite this prayer as the first Pillar of Islam, off of the board at the teacher's instruction," Wagner claims.

Wagner, who is not religious, said he had no idea the public school was teaching so extensively about religion until he spotted a text on his son's phone from a teacher reminding him to complete a prayer rug assignment and study an Islam packet.

From "FIU unveils its Center for Muslim World Studies at COSMOS [fifth annual Coalition of South Florida Muslim Organizations’ community appreciation] dinner" by Paradise Afshar, Special to the Miami Herald 2/9/15

“I think we all agree that it’s now time to go beyond the Middle East, as a focus of our current scale program, and to look at Islam on a global scale,” said Florida International University Provost Kenneth Furton. “And so I’m pleased to announce that we’re launching an initiative to establish the Center for Muslim World Studies.”

“This new center will explore the diversity and complexity of Islam worldwide, and will also highlight the interconnections between Islam and globalization,” Furton said.

The intention is for the Center to address three main themes: the global Muslim diaspora, interfaith dialogue, and Islam and security.

The Center for Muslim World Studies is in the initiative phase as it seeks the minimum $5 million endowment required by the university to establish a new center. The money is intended to ensure that the center will continue in perpetuity, according to David Skipp, associate director for advancement for FIU’s School of International and Public Affairs.

Gallup Poll: Americans Want Abortion Laws Changed

Only one-third of Americans say that they are satisfied with the current policies regarding abortion — the most discontent with the issue since Gallup first polled the question at the turn of the century.  Of those not satisfied, most want further restriction on abortion via new laws (except among Democrats).

For background, read 2011 Poll: Pro-choice Americans Disagree with Abortionists and read 2012 Poll: Most Americans Pro-life and read Liberals' Own 2013 Poll: Most Americans Oppose Abortion

-- From "Americans' satisfaction with abortion policies sink to new low" by Chad Merda, Chicago Sun-Times 2/9/15

Gallup has been polling on the question since 2001 as part of the Mood of the Nation Poll, and the latest numbers are the lowest in the poll’s history.

The 34 percent satisfaction rate in 2015 is down four percent from 2014.

Much of the drop can largely be attributed to Republicans views on the nation’s abortion policies. While Democrats satisfaction has hovered near 50 percent since 2008, Republicans’ satisfaction has fallen sharply in the last year [to 21%].

From "Approval of abortion polices drops to record low" by Sarah Ferris, The Hill 2/9/15

The percent of Republicans who dislike the country's abortion policies has steadily dropped under President Barack Obama, falling from a high of 44 percent approval rating under President George W. Bush.

While abortion has largely stayed off Congress' agenda under Obama, abortion has played an increasing role in the state legislatures since the GOP sweep in the 2010 midterms. Several states, like Texas, Tennessee and Louisiana, are now facing court battles over their new, far stricter laws.

Gallup's survey was conducted the first week of January, about two weeks before the issue of abortion caused significant infighting within the GOP. The party's centrist members – led by some females – took issue with a bill to ban late-term abortions because of specific language about how to handle cases of rape and incest.

From "Fewest Americans Satisfied With Abortion Policies Since 2001" by Rebecca Riffkin, Gallup, Inc. 2/9/15

. . . From January 2001 to January 2008, after the election of Republican George W. Bush and spanning most of his two terms, at least 39% of Republicans each year said they were satisfied with the nation's abortion policies. Satisfaction among Republicans reached as high as 44% in January 2002, Bush's first year in office. However, since 2012, with Democratic President Barack Obama in office, no more than 29% of Republicans have been satisfied with the nation's abortion policies. And Republicans' satisfaction is particularly low this year, at 21%, an eight-percentage-point decline from a year ago.

Americans who say they are dissatisfied with current abortion policies were asked a follow-up question to learn if they are dissatisfied because they want current abortion laws to be stricter or less strict. This year, of those who are dissatisfied, twice as many prefer stricter rather than less strict laws: 24% want stricter laws, while 12% want current abortion laws to be less strict.

. . . This shift in attitudes most likely reflects the change from a pro-life Republican president to a pro-choice Democratic one. Notably, Democrats' views have not become more positive after the change in presidential administrations, perhaps because abortion is the law of the land.

Obama Floods Gay Agenda with Taxpayers' Money

Increasingly, the Obama administration appears to be "all gay, all day."  Government spending watchdog organizations are continually uncovering federal programs that specifically target spending on pet projects of homosexualists — one of the largest funding sources of liberal politicians.
The Washington Free Beacon lists $39,643,352 of questionable research by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), including $2,364,521 in smoking cessation studies specifically for the LGBT community.

The government awarded $432,000 to Columbia University to interview gay men who use GPS dating apps [such as Grindr] and determine whether it increases their likelihood of engaging in risky sexual behavior.

“Smartphone technologies have provided a new venue for sexual partnering among men who have sex with men (MSM),” the grant for the project states. “Indeed, there are a rapidly growing number of smartphone applications designed to facilitate sexual partnering among MSM.”

“Furthermore, given the expediency with which men are able to arrange sexual encounters using these applications, there is cause to question if, when, and how sexual negotiation and serostatus disclosure occurs,” the grant said. “The overall study goal is to understand how sexual risk behaviors among MSM may be facilitated by the nature of GPS-enabled smartphone applications, the way they are used, and the process by which sexual partnering occurs via smartphone applications.”

The project is also studying the sexual arousal level of gay men when using the apps.

From "NIH Grant: $435,369 to Study ‘Culturally Targeted’ Ways to Help LGBT Smokers Quit" by Melanie Hunter, CNSNews.com 2/6/15

“Our long-term goals are to increase smoking cessation in Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) smokers and to understand the processes related to cessation and relapse in this underserved population,” the [National Institutes of Health] grant stated.

The study will be conducted in two phases “to compare the efficacy of a culturally targeted intervention versus a non-targeted intervention on smoking cessation outcomes in LGBT smokers.”

In the first phase, researchers will use “focus groups and a pilot trial to establish the cultural appropriateness and acceptability of the targeted elements of the intervention.”

The second phase involves “a randomized smoking cessation trial to compare for the first time the efficacy of the American Lung Association’s Freedom from Smoking Program’ (ALA-FFS), Culturally targeted (ALA-CT) and Non-Targeted (Standard ALA-FFS) to LGBT smokers.”

From "$661,858 Federal Study: Will 'Rapid HIV Home Test' Reduce HIV Infection Among Gays?" by Melanie Hunter, CNSNews.com 1/13/15

The National Institutes of Health has awarded $661,858 to the New York State Psychiatric Institute to study whether the use of rapid home HIV tests will reduce sexual risk behavior in “men who have sex with men” and “transgender women.”

“This study focuses on HIV-uninfected men and transgender women who have sex with men, with special emphasis on ethnic minority individuals, who have more than one sexual partner and never or seldom use condoms,” the grant said.

“Statistics about HIV among male-to-female transgender women (TGW) are often unavailable but it is known that HIV prevalence in this population is high, and the 2011 Institute of Medicine Consensus Report called for much needed research among transgender populations,” the grant said.

“Alternatives to condom use are needed for individuals who cannot or will not use condoms,” it said.

“This 5-year randomized controlled trial will target mainly, but not exclusively, ethnic minority men and TGW who have sex with men, are HIV-uninfected and non-monogamous, never or seldom use condoms, and have a history of serodiscordant UAI,” the grant said.

Serodiscordant UAI is when one partner is infected with HIV and the other is not.

From "ICE: We Have 'Special Housing Unit' in L.A. For 'Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Detainees'" by Melanie Hunter, CNSNews.com 1/30/15

“We have a special housing unit in the Los Angeles area dedicated to the gay, bisexual and transgender detainees,” said Kevin Landy, assistant director of the ICE [U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement] office of detention policy and planning.

“Individuals who prefer a transfer even across the country to that facility for their safety rather than being in a general population housing unit are afforded that opportunity, and we have transferred many people long distances at their choice to that unit,” he said.

“And we have an ongoing working group in this area to consider additional reforms on these issues, including adopting the most progressive policies,” Landy said. “There are a couple of jails in the entire country that have essentially transgender committees.”

When transgender detainees are taken into custody, they are assessed individually, and decisions about how the individual will be classified and where the individual will be placed “may not be based solely on the biological anatomy of that individual,” Landy said.

“With respect to treatment while in detention--the medical care standard--the standards guarantees a right to hormone therapy for individuals who need it for treatment, and even in facilities that are not covered by that standard. Our ICE House Service Corps is very vigilant on that issue to ensuring that individuals receive necessary hormone therapy,” said Kevin Landy, assistant director of the ICE office of detention policy and planning.

According to Commission Chairman Martin Castro, the Department of Homeland Security is the “largest agency that has custody of transgender individuals.”

“Transgender detainees who were already receiving hormone therapy when taken into ICE custody shall have continued access,” the report said. “All transgender detainees shall have access to mental health care, and other transgender-related health care and medication based on medical need. Treatment shall follow accepted guidelines regarding medically necessary transition-related care.”

From "$39,643,352 Worth of NIH Funding That Could Have Gone to the Ebola Vaccine" by Elizabeth Harrington, Washington Free Beacon 10/16/14

Millions have gone to “text message interventions,” including . . . texting older African Americans with HIV ($372,460), HIV and drug users in rural areas ($693,000), HIV smokers ($763,519), pregnant smokers ($380,145), teen moms ($243,839), and meth addicts ($360,113). Text message interventions to try to get obese people to lose weight have cost $2,707,067.

Sexual minorities have received a substantial amount from the NIH. The agency has now spent $105,066 following 16 schizophrenic LGBT Canadians around Toronto for a study on their community experiences.

The total for a project on why gay men get syphilis in Peru is now $692,697 after receiving additional $228,425 this year. The NIH is also concerned about postpartum depression in “invisible sexual minority women,” with a study that has cost $718,770.

Millions went to develop “origami condoms,” in male, female, and anal versions. The inventor Danny Resnic, who received $2,466,482 from the NIH, has been accused of massive fraud for using grant money for full-body plastic surgery in Costa Rica and parties at the Playboy mansion.

How transwomen use Facebook is the subject of another NIH study worth $194,788.

Calif. Sex Worker Abortionist Teachers Exposed

Parents of Acalanes High School in Lafayette, California (suburban San Francisco), who months ago demanded that Planned Parenthood employees be removed from the school's sex education curriculum, have discovered that those instructors are paid not only by abortionists, but also make a living in the sex industry.

In addition, parents' attorneys have presented evidence of the school's violation of federal and state laws regarding parental notice by singling out and shaming students who refuse to advance the school's Gay Agenda.

-- From "Calif. high school had sex ed teachers with interesting sidelines" posted at FoxNews.com 1/26/15

. . . At least two of the instructors had questionable day jobs, with one conducting sex toy workshops at a local porn shop. Another, who dubbed herself a “pleasure activist,” had attended pornography conferences with other Planned Parenthood employees.

One instructor leads a “pleasure workshop”—in which the use of sex toys are demonstrated at a store called Good Vibrations in nearby Berkeley. It was not immediately clear if the instructor told students of the store’s offerings.

They also discovered that a second instructor at Acalanes High School who was an education manager for Planned Parenthood Northern California, had boasted that she was a “pleasure activist” online and also commented on her twitter feed that she attended the CatalystCon pornography conference. The conference attracts members of the porn industry and has workshops and panels that discusses topics like using explicit instructional media for sex ed, the history of sex toys and how to effectively share your sex life on the stage and on the page.

From "SF Bay Area School Permits Queer Straight Alliance to Bully Students" posted at Pacific Justice Institute 2/5/15

Attorneys with Pacific Justice Institute sent a demand letter to attorneys for Acalanes High School late Wednesday over incidents last week where students were singled out and ostracized for their beliefs.  Students reported that, on Jan. 29, members of the school’s Queer Straight Alliance (QSA) took over all freshmen English classes to grill students about their beliefs and their parents’ beliefs on LGBT issues.  The QSA had students step forward to demonstrate whether they believed that being gay was a choice and whether their parents would be accepting if they came out as gay. Students who did not step forward were ridiculed and humiliated.  The QSA also gave students a handout of LGBT terminology such as “pan-sexual,” “demi-sexual,” “gray gender,” and about a dozen other terms.  The QSA also had students line up to demonstrate where they fell on the “gender spectrum.”

. . . PJI further explained that the school’s actions violated the students’ constitutional privacy rights.  The letter demands that the school immediately cease the interrogations and suspend the QSA.  The letter also demands all public records associated with the events of Jan. 29, including e-mails from school officials who approved it.

Obama Compares Christians to Islamic Terrorists

A day after he held an all-Muslim meeting at the White House, President Obama chided Christians during the National Prayer Breakfast not to criticize radical Islamist terrorists who behead journalists and burn prisoners of war to death because hundreds of years ago Catholics committed brutal acts in the name of Jesus Christ.
“There is a tendency in us, a sinful tendency, that can pervert and distort our faith.”

In his comments at the National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday, President Obama condemned violence in the name of religion and pointed to religious groups other than the Islamic State that have perpetrated acts of terror in human history.

"Lest we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place," the president said, "remember that during the Crusades and the Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ. In our home country, slavery and Jim Crow all too often was justified in the name of Christ.”

The president's comments angered some who felt that comparing the atrocities of the Islamic State to other acts of violence was out of line. The Catholic League's Bill Donohue called it "an attempt to deflect guilt from Muslim madmen," and argued that Christian crusaders were merely defending themselves against hostile Muslim neighbors.

From "Critics Seize On Obama’s ISIS Remarks at Prayer Breakfast" by Julie Hirschfeld Davis, New York Times 2/5/15

President Obama may have thought he was giving a straightforward history lesson at the National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday when he compared the atrocities of the Islamic State to the bloodshed committed in the name of Christianity in centuries past.

But that is not how many of his longtime critics saw it.

“The president’s comments this morning at the prayer breakfast are the most offensive I’ve ever heard a president make in my lifetime,” said Jim Gilmore, the former Republican governor of Virginia. “He has offended every believing Christian in the United States.”

Mr. Gilmore said the comments go “further to the point that Mr. Obama does not believe in America or the values we all share.”

From "Critics pounce after Obama talks Crusades, slavery at prayer breakfast" by Juliet Eilperin, Washington Post 2/5/15

President Obama has never been one to go easy on America. . . . At a time of global anxiety over Islamist terrorism, Obama noted pointedly that his fellow Christians, who make up a vast majority of Americans, should perhaps not be the ones who cast the first stone.

Obama spoke a day after meeting with Muslim leaders, in what participants said was his first roundtable with a Muslim-only group since taking office. The Muslim leaders who argued that they feel their community has faced unfair scrutiny in the wake of terrorist attacks overseas. Although the White House released only a broad description of the meeting — which touched on issues including racial profiling — participants said it gave them a chance to express their concerns directly to the president.

Farhana Khera, executive director of the civil rights group Muslim Advocates, one of 13 participants, said the session gave Obama a chance to focus on Muslim Americans the way he has done with other constituencies, such as African American and Jewish groups.

From "Obama Uses Prayer Breakfast To Call For Curbs On Islam Criticism" by Neil Munro, White House Correspondent, The Daily Caller 2/5/14

Obama also suggested that free speech should be curbed or regulated to shield Islamic ideas and Muslims’ self-esteem from the rough-and-tumble world of modern democracies.

In Islamic culture and laws, criticism of Islamic ideas is often treated as traitorous insults to Islam’s deity and its final prophet that deserve capital punishment.

Obama’s qualified endorsement of Islamic blasphemy laws echoed his 2012 statement to the United Nations General Assembly, when he said “the future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam.”

. . .

The Crusades began in 1095, roughly 906 years before the 9/11/2001 attack in New York, and roughly 450 years after Arabs occupied the Christian city of Jerusalem, which was then part of the Christian Byzantine Empire. The empire was eventually destroyed when Islamic armies used mercenary European gunners to capture and occupy Byzantium in 1453.

“Mr. President--Many people in history have used the name of Jesus Christ to accomplish evil things for their own desires,” said Rev. Graham.  “But Jesus taught peace, love and forgiveness. He came to give His life for the sins of mankind, not to take life.”

“Mohammad on the contrary was a warrior and killed many innocent people,” said Rev. Graham.  “True followers of Christ emulate Christ—true followers of Mohammed emulate Mohammed.”

. . . As for the Inquisition, the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights reports that “the Catholic Church had almost nothing to do with it. The Church saw heretics as lost sheep who needed to be brought back into the fold. By contrast, secular authorities saw heresy as treason; anyone who questioned royal authority, or who challenged the idea that kingship was God-given, was guilty of a capital offense.”

One of the leading authorities on the Inquisition, Henry Kamen, states that a total of 1,394 people were killed during the Inquisition. “Today, Muslim madmen kill more than that in a few months,” said [Catholic League President Bill] Donohue.
