Evangelist Wins Lawsuit vs. San Fran. Police, ESPN

Gino Emmerich and a Christian law firm will be paid $10,000 because Emmerich was forced by San Francisco police and sports TV outlet ESPN to cease holding a “John 3:16” sign outside of the Giants ballpark in July 2014.  Emmerich was singled out for holding a Christian sign among a plethora of signs and expressions of free speech by others in a crowd.

A traveling minister who carried his “John 3:16” sign to Willie Mays Plaza at AT&T Park before a Giants game, and said he was told to leave or face arrest, has settled his lawsuit for $10,000.

Gino Emmerich sued the city of San Francisco, but the settlement funds — $2,500 to Emmerich and $7,500 to his lawyer — will come from ESPN, which was filming the pregame activities and hired city police to keep order, City Attorney Dennis Herrera’s office said Tuesday. As part of the settlement, the city agreed to review the status of the plaza and the extent of the public’s right to carry signs or express opinions there.

. . . an ESPN producer walked up with four uniformed police officers and told [Emmerich] he would be arrested if he displayed his sign.

After the producer left, Emmerich said he nevertheless held the sign up in front of an ESPN camera. One of the officers then grabbed him from behind and moved him out of camera range, where police issued another arrest warning and let him go. All the while, Emmerich said, fans were in the plaza, some displaying other types of signs, though none with religious messages.

From "First Amendment Victory: San Francisco Settles Lawsuit Over Activist's Right to Peacefully Display Sign in Willie Mays Plaza in Front of Giants Ballpark" posted at The Rutherford Institute 3/22/16

A settlement has been reached in a First Amendment lawsuit filed by The Rutherford Institute against police officers who allegedly intimidated and threatened to arrest a man who was lawfully and peacefully exercising his First Amendment rights in the Willie Mays Plaza prior to a Giants v. Dodgers game by holding up a “John 3:16” religious sign in the public plaza in front of the San Francisco Giants ballpark. The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California on behalf of Gino Emmerich, alleged that police officers violated Emmerich’s right to free speech and assembly when they forcefully removed him from Willie Mays Plaza, surrounded him and threatened him with arrest if he did not cease displaying his “John 3:16” sign. Under the settlement agreement, the City and County of San Francisco have agreed to conduct an investigation about the status of Willie Mays Plaza in connection with the rights of citizens to exercise their First Amendment rights there.

From "Rutherford Institute Sues California Police for Threatening Man Who Was Peacefully Displaying a 'John 3:16' Religious Sign in Front of S.F. Giants Ballpark" posted at The Rutherford Institute 7/9/15

On Sunday, July 27, 2014, prior to the start of a Giants v. Dodgers baseball game, Gino Emmerich arrived at Willie Mays Plaza carrying a “John 3:16” sign, a religious reference to a central tenet of Christianity. Other people were in the plaza, some displaying signs and otherwise communicating messages. Also in the plaza was a makeshift broadcast booth put together for a live broadcast and discussion of the Giants v. Dodgers game for ESPN SportsCenter. . . . Emmerich stationed himself in view of the camera, behind the commentators, and held up his John 3:16 sign. While Emmerich was holding up his sign, a police officer grabbed him from behind by his shirt and neck and moved him out of the view of the camera. Once Emmerich was clear of the cameras, he was surrounded by four police officers and warned, “If you go over there and hold that sign again, we will arrest you and the sergeant will come over here and decide where we are going to take you.” Emmerich then left the plaza as to avoid the possibility of arrest and turned to The Rutherford Institute for help.

“Much of what used to be great about America—especially as it pertains to our love of freedom and our commitment to First Amendment activities—has been overshadowed by a greater desire for security and an inclination towards political correctness,” said John W. Whitehead, president of The Rutherford Institute and author of Battlefield America: The War on the American People. “That this incident, with its police intimidation tactics, overt discrimination and censorship, took place in a public plaza dedicated to Willie Mays, a legendary baseball player who lived through an era of police tactics, discrimination and censorship, is a powerful indictment of all that is wrong with America today.”

Feminists vs. Super Bowl Ad 'Humanizing Fetuses'

The National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL) lambasted a Doritos commercial that aired during the 50th Super Bowl yesterday because an unborn child was depicted in an animated ultrasound image as being aware of his/her surroundings, including of the father with his Doritos snack chips.  The recognition of a fetus as a functioning human being (personhood) is the antithesis of abortion advocacy.

NARAL Pro-Choice America, a leading advocacy group on the issue of abortion, started firing a string of tweets about ads running during Super Bowl 50 on Sunday night, criticizing several in particular as "transphobic" or "sexist."

The group had announced it would be live-tweeting the event to call out "sexist" advertisers and their creations. . . .

NARAL also complains that the ad reinforces “sexist tropes of dads as clueless and moms as uptight.”

For better or worse, Pepsi’s Doritos brand certainly knows how to create some buzz. In one of its Super Bowl spots, a woman is getting an ultrasound while her partner stands by, eating Doritos. The group also blasted a Hyundai ad on Twitter, calling it “sexist” and “misogynistic”, when an advertisement aired about a dad following his teenage daughter on a date. They claimed his concern for his child was taking away her autonomy and “stalking her”, as The Daily Caller reported.

Polygamy License Legitimacy Considered in Montana

Officials in Yellowstone County are reviewing a marriage application for Nathan Collier to marry Christine, with whom he's been living -- along with his 15-year-wife, Victoria.
“I’m not trying to redefine marriage. I’m not forcing anyone to believe in polygamy. We’re only defining marriage for us. We just want legitimacy. . . . We're not even asking for acceptance, we're just asking for tolerance. Let us live our lives together without fear. . . . It's about marriage equality.  You can't have this without polygamy.”

-- From "Montana Polygamist Seeks ‘Legitimacy’ After Supreme Court Ruling" by Tanya Basu, Time Magazine 7/2/15

The Montana trio argue that under Friday’s landmark Supreme Court decision recognizing same-sex marriage across the country as legal, their polygamous relationship should be legally recognized and guaranteed the same rights as heterosexual and homosexual marriages. “If you read the justice’s statement, it applies to polygamists,” Collier said.

He’s referring to the dissent by Chief Justice John Roberts, who argued that the reasoning for giving same-sex couples the right to marry “would apply with equal force to the claim of a fundamental right to plural marriage.”

Spurred by Roberts’ words, the three decided to go to the courthouse Tuesday armed with the Supreme Court ruling. County clerks initially denied to give a marriage license upon learning that Collier’s marriage with Victoria had not been dissolved. But the clerk returned afterwards, saying that they would refer to the county attorney’s office before making a decision. The county’s chief civil litigator is looking to have a formal response by early next week:

Collier met both of his wives in 1999. He married Victoria in 2000 and had a spiritual ceremony with Christine, he said. Collier now wants to legalize his marriage to both of them, he said.

Their family is not new to the public eye. They appeared on the TLC reality show Sister Wives in January.

Kevin Gillen, the Yellowstone County chief civil litigator, is reviewing Montana's bigamy laws and plans to respond next week, according to the AP.

If they deny the license application, Collier plans to get an attorney and file a civil rights lawsuit, he said.

Collier, 46, said that [Chief Justice John Roberts'] dissent inspired him. He owns a refrigeration business in Billings . . .

Collier said he is a former Mormon who was excommunicated for polygamy and now belongs to no religious organization. He said he and his wives hid their relationship for years, but became tired of hiding and went public by appearing on the reality cable television show "Sister Wives."

The three have seven children of their own and from previous relationships.

"It's two distinct marriages, its two distinct unions, and for us to come together and create family, what's wrong with that?" said Christine. "I don't understand why it's looked upon and frowned upon as being obscene."

Collier said he sent an email asking the ACLU of Montana to represent him in a possible lawsuit. ACLU legal director Jim Taylor said he has not seen the request.

Mrs. Obama Thanks Hollywood for Gay Indoctrination

In an address Friday at the National Geographic’s headquarters in Washington, D.C., First Lady Michelle Obama agreed with TV and screenwriters that their industry can use, and has used, the power of media to inculcate sexual deviancy in the culture, and so she thanked them for advancing the Gay Agenda

The first lady’s blessing comes three weeks before the Academy Awards and in the midst of a larger debate about the film [‘American Sniper’].

In her call-out to Hollywood’s “content creators,” [Mrs.] Obama said she would like Hollywood to have the same effect on views of military veterans that it has had on perceptions of gay and lesbian Americans.

“It wasn’t all that long ago that this was a third-rail kind of issue, not just in politics, but in entertainment as well,” she said of gay rights. “Today, ‘The Imitation Game’ is up for best picture at the Oscars, and Cam and Mitchell — two of my favorites — are raising their daughter on ‘Modern Family,’ one of the top-rated shows on TV. And at the same time, we’ve seen gay rights advance in real life as well.”

New Atheist TV Network — Aren't They All Already?

Even though mainstream media is already anti-Christian (although they CLAIM to be objectively unbiased), that's not good enough for the American Atheists organization that just announced their launch of America's first exclusively atheist TV network.
"Atheist TV is geared toward every atheist in the broadest possible sense. Whether they call themselves atheists or skeptics or humanists or any of the other labels that people use to identify themselves, Atheist TV is for them. . . . School Prayer Clubs Spawned by Duck Dynasty

Sadie Robertson, the 16-year-old star of cable TV's “Duck Dynasty” tells of students inspired to pray in groups at schools nationwide because of the Robertson's Christian family example.

For background, read about prayer sweeping back into schools across America.

-- From "River Region embraces 'Duck Dynasty's' Sadie" by Brad Harper, Montgomery Advertiser 1/13/14

“For a TV show to bring prayer into schools, that’s awesome,” she said.

The teenager was the featured speaker at a fundraiser for faith-based private school Prattville Christian Academy. Her mother, Korie, was with her but didn’t appear at the event.

Sadie declined to answer questions about comments made by her grandfather, family patriarch Phil Robertson, who was suspended from the show by the A&E Network after saying in an interview that homosexual behavior is sinful. The network reinstated him after nine days.

“I’m sure we could all say a lot about that, but the family has decided we’re not going to talk about it really,” Sadie said. “But we will say we’re really glad for us all to be back together as a family because (he’s) the leader. We couldn’t do anything without him.”

From "What Won’t Change About Duck Dynasty, and What Already Has" by James Poniewozik, Time Magazine 1/15/14

The show has now joined the ranks of products that have become totems, like Chick-Fil-A (the fast-food chain that became a symbol of conservative bona fides after its president publicly opposed same-sex marriage) and Hobby Lobby (whose management protested the contraception-coverage requirements in the Affordable Care Act).

Dynasty, with its old-school ethos and its family prayers, always laid a little cultural statement between the lines, but the Robertson’s GQ interview brought it out into the open. For better or worse, we’re a country now that votes through consumption–we express our affiliations and ideology not just with donkeys and elephants but chickens and ducks. In late December, protestors arranged a two-for-one special, eating at Chick-Fil-A in Duck Commander gear to show their support for Phil.

But for an unignorable chunk of the audience now, Duck Dynasty is not just a reality sitcom but a statement: a defense of their besieged values, a defense of the waning belief that condemning gay people in public should be socially acceptable. Maybe in the first four seasons they heard Duck Dynasty affirming their beliefs with a kind of silent dog whistle. Like it or not, Phil turned it into a resounding duck call.

Study: Media Bias FOR Gays is Christians' Fault

The latest study by Pew Research shows that the mainstream news media is five times more likely to favor "gay marriage" over true marriage, but says this is NOT media bias, but rather it's because conservatives don't present a coherent message to report.

In one example, MSNBC coverage was 64% supporting "gay marriage" but only 6% opposing.

-- From "Gay marriage received more supporting coverage in media, study says" by David Bauder, Associated Press Television Writer 6/17/13

The Pew Research Center's Project for Excellence in Journalism said Monday that . . . the imbalance was largely because many of the stories were about changing public attitudes, or politicians announcing their support of legalization.

Proponents also were more consistent in their message, defining it as an issue of civil rights. Pew said opponents didn't coalesce on a primary reason for not supporting same-sex marriage.

From "Study Finds Supportive Tilt to Gay Marriage Coverage" by Brian Stelter, New York Times 6/17/13

[The Pew report said,] “The level of support conveyed in the news media examined here goes beyond the level seen in public opinion surveys.” The imbalance was evident both in reporting and in commentary, and on all three of the major cable news channels, Fox News, MSNBC and CNN.

The study lends credence to conservative charges that the nation’s news media have championed the issue of same-sex marriage at the expense of objectivity. Others have argued that news organizations are right not to overly emphasize opposition to what many see as a core civil rights issue.

The researchers noted in their report that many of the developments that the news media were covering were intrinsically positive for the gay rights movement, including votes in favor of same-sex marriage on the state level.

From "News Coverage Conveys Strong Momentum for Same-Sex Marriage" by Paul Hitlin, Amy Mitchell and Mark Jurkowitz, Pew Research Center 6/17/13

Almost half (47%) of the nearly 500 stories studied from March 18 (a week prior to the Supreme Court hearings), through May 12, primarily focused on support for the measure, while 9% largely focused on opposition and 44% had a roughly equal mix of both viewpoints or were neutral. In order for a story to be classified as supporting or opposing same sex marriage, statements expressing that position had to outnumber the opposite view by at least 2-to-1. Stories that did not meet that threshold were defined as neutral or mixed.

This news media focus on support held true whether the stories were reported news articles or opinion pieces, and was also the case across nearly all media sectors studied. All three of the major cable networks, for instance, had more stories with significantly more supportive statements than opposing, including Fox News.

In addition to the main set of news media, this study also examined same-sex marriage coverage in three other media segments: Twitter, the Huffington Post - which has a dedicated microsite to "Gay Voices" and produced so much coverage that it was examined separately from the rest of the news media - and a mix of LGBT news outlets.

Within the media debate on the subject, this report found that those arguing for same-sex marriage had a more consistent message than those arguing against.

From "Pew Reports Media Bias on Marriage Debate" by Joan Frawley Desmond, Senior Editor, National Catholic Register 6/17/13

Brian Brown, the president of the National Organization for Marriage, the primary institution defending the nation’s marriage laws, told the Register that the Pew study provided valuable context for evaluating the true state of the debate on “marriage equality.”

“If there is overwhelming media bias and we are not able to get out our message broadly through broadcast television, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy,” said Brown in a June 17 interview.

“During Proposition 8, the largest social ballot issue in history,” Brown recalled, “there were very few invitations for us and our allies to be on broadcast television.

“Over the past four years, we have met with Washington bureau chiefs and laid out the problems we are facing.  We have seen a little bit of improvement, but media coverage is still overwhelming biased.

“The Human Rights Campaign will be invited to speak and there will be no one from the other side,” he said, referring to the leading organization promoting same-sex ‘marriage.’

But Rich Ferraro, president of GLAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) called Breitbart's story "a laughable attempt at attention seeking, comparable to (Reverend) Jerry Falwell attacking the Teletubbies and demonstrates a profound ignorance of transgender people since this show doesn't include any."

The show's official description refers to Guy as "an extreme dude" with his own catchphrase "it's a GUY thing". But the [magic] ring gives him an "outrageous female superhero costume" that helps him on his "personal journey to become one heck of a super man".

SheZow is assisted by his best friend, Maz -- who takes on a different sidekick identity in each episode -- and Kelly, who controls the underground “She-lair” with Sheila, the supercomputer.

Young male viewers will find even more absurd the premise that the hero uses his “beautility belt,” which contains various weapons concealed inside feminine products like laser lipstick and vanishing cream.

And what superhero series would be complete without super villains to battle? SheZow has a rogue's gallery that includes Megamonkey, Coldfinger, Candy Rapper, Tattoozula and his arch-enemy, SheZap.

Obama's MSNBC: Kids Belong to State, NOT Parents

The unapologetically forward-[left]-leaning cable channel MSNBC, whose reports resemble that of White House spokespersons, presented a 30-second totalitarian public-service announcement explaining that America must stop believing that parents are responsible to raise children -- that's the purpose of government and its school system.

-- From "'Unflippingbelievable': Palin hits MSNBC" by Dylan Byers, Politico 4/8/13

MSNBC's latest "Lean Forward" ad has earned the ire of one Sarah Palin, who says the spot promotes the idea that kids don't belong to their parents.

The ad features host Melissa Harris-Perry making an argument for greater investment in public education. Harris-Perry says Americans have "never invested as much in public education as we should have because we've always had a private notion of children: 'your kid is yours and your responsibility.'"

"We haven't had a very collective notion of, 'these are our children,'" Harris-Perry said. "So part of it is we have to break through our private idea that kids belong to their parents or kids belong to their families, and recognize that kids belong to whole communities. Once it's everybody's responsibility, and not just the households, then we start making better investments."

From "Glenn Beck Blasts MSNBC Promo for Attacking Family Values" By Myles Collier, Christian Post Contributor 4/8/13

The 30-second spot was such an assault on personal liberty that Beck spent nearly an hour of his radio show on Monday to discussing the MSNBC promo. He also continually insisted that the message put forth with the add is not what America is about.

"It's almost a parody of reality," Beck said of the MSNBC promo. "It is so far beyond what we have ever thought as a nation, it's remarkable … this is exactly what we warned about. This is the fulfillment of so many things that we have said on this program."

From "MSNBC-Melissa Harris-Perry says 'kids belong to whole communities'" by Mike Shortridge, Washington Times 4/7/13

This is not the first time that Harris-Perry has offered her opinion on the value of children, referring to the fertilized egg or, zygote, as “a thing” after dramatically breaking apart a plastic model of a woman’s reproductive system.

Choosing to air what should be the story line for a horror movie, or perhaps a documentary about Hitler, Stalin or Mao Zedong, MSNBC is apparently offering their tactile approval of the “Lean Forward” spot.

. . . The claim of Ms. Harris-Perry that “kids do not belong to their parents, kids belong to whole communities”, should infuriate every American.

These are the people that are teaching our children.

From "MSNBC: Kids Don't Belong to Their Parents" by Rich Lowry, National Review Editor 4/9/13

[Harris-Perry's] statement wasn’t an aside on live TV. The spot was shot, produced and aired without, apparently, raising any alarm bells. No one raised his or her hand and said, “Should we really broadcast something that sounds so outlandish?”

. . . As the ultimate private institution, the family is a stubborn obstacle to the great collective effort. Insofar as people invest in their own families, they’re holding out on the state and unacceptably privileging their own kids over the children of others. These parents are selfish, small-minded and backward.

. . . The truth is that parents are one of society’s most incorrigible sources of inequality. If you have two of them who stay married and are invested in your upbringing, you’ve hit life’s lottery. You’ll reap untold benefits denied to children who aren’t so lucky. That the family is so essential to the well-being of children has to be a constant source of frustration to the egalitarian statist, a reminder of the limits of his power.

-- From "Gay Channel ‘Logo’ Celebrates ‘7 Days of Holiday Sin’" By Lauren Thompson, NewsBusters 12/21/12

Here’s a novel take in the left’s war on Christ and Christmas: a celebration of sinful behavior.

It would be nice if such degraded, filthy attacks on the holiday and Christian values were confined to fixtures of the gay left like Dan Savage and Perez Hilton, But Hollywood liberals like Denis Leary are in the act too, with a book called “Merry F***in’ Christmas.”

The channel features shows targeted at a lesbian, “gay,” bisexual and transgender, or LGBT, audience, and features programs like “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and movies like “Make the Yuletide Gay.”

Media OK with NFL's New 'Black Jesus' Quarterback

The liberal mainstream media doesn't ridicule the on-field "Christian antics" of the Washington Redskins 22-year-old quarterback Robert Griffin III as the media have done with quarterback Tim Tebow.  Without scorn, the media even show replays of RG3's genuflecting sign of the cross followed by his raised hand and head to the sky.

For background, read The Media & Quarterback Tebow's Christian Faith and also read NBA's Lin Thanks Jesus, without Tebow-like Scorn

-- From "Redskins QB Robert Griffin III after big win: God is on our side" by Jim Corbett, USA TODAY SportsShare 12/4/12

He even used a little magic: Griffin took off on second-and-2 from the New York 28-yard line. When he was hit by safety Stevie Brown, the football popped straight into the arms of receiver Josh Morgan, who raced 13 yards for a TD and a 7-3, second-quarter lead.

It was Griffin's second fumble this season that a teammate recovered for a touchdown.

"God's on our side," Griffin said. "There are a lot more goals this team is striving for. I know we can definitely accomplish them."

During a one-on-one interview during the 2012 NFL season, Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin, III told USA Today Sports that when he's on the field, 'I like to think I am super out there and I can do things that normal people can't.'

From "On Monday Night Football, RG3 Does Own Version of the Tebow" by Susan Jones, CNSNews.com 12/4/12

After Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III made an 8-yard, game-winning touchdown pass to Pierre Garcon in the fourth quarter of the Monday Night Football game, he conspicuously thanked God--kneeling, making the sign of the cross, and pointing to the sky in a public display of devotion.

ESPN showed the moment live, then replayed it twice from different angles, but made no comment about it.

Earlier this season, when RG3 threw his first professional touchdown pass he also made the sign of the cross and pointed toward heaven. But despite his public displays of devotion on the football field, RG3 has not been mocked--as fellow NFL quarterback Tim Tebow has--for professing his faith.

From "RGIII is the most exciting athlete in Washington — right now" by Mike Wise, Columnist (Washington Post) 12/2/12

The deification of Robert Griffin III now in full overdrive, I decided to finally call Black Jesus and ask about the second coming.

“They’re calling Griffin that now?” Earl Monroe said, chuckling, when he returned my call from his home in New Jersey on Sunday.

Yes, the Pearl is told, Fred Davis, Griffin’s teammate, christened the 22-year-old Redskins rookie quarterback “Black Jesus” more than a month ago. But he apparently did not know the former Baltimore Bullet was given the nickname some 45 years ago.

“Well, I’m fine if they want to call him that,” Monroe added. “Fact is I really love watching him. He is something. I read yesterday his [touchdown to interception] ratio is 16 to 4. That’s just incredible.

The point is, godding up Griffin too soon is dangerous. . . . Tim Tebow was a messiah for a god-awful Broncos team — until John Elway forsook him with a trade to the Jets, which these days is as about as close as you can get to Hades.

From "How Traditional Values Shape the NFL" by Jack Cashill, American Thinker 11/27/12

On the long Thanksgiving weekend, five regular starting NFL quarterbacks of at least partial African descent took the field for their respective teams.  Beyond their obvious talent, all five share a common background, one that is now rare in the African American community and becoming anomalous in American society writ large: each grew up in a Christian home with a mother and a father.  More so than foot speed or even arm strength, this is the variable that elevates them above their peers.

Robert Griffin III, the Redskins' star rookie, was born in Okinawa to Robert Jr. and Jacqueline, who were then both sergeants in the U.S. Army.  The family finally settled in Copperas Cove, Texas, outside Ft. Hood.  At Baylor, Griffin managed to graduate in three years with a 3.67 GPA and a degree in political science.  During his final year at Baylor, he was studying for a Master's degree in communication.  "I was heavily influenced by my parents to learn discipline," says Griffin, a professing Christian who has been in the church since age seven.  "But my relationship with God was my most important influence."

Given the impact of faith and family on the NFL, one can imagine how an emphasis on the same could re-shape America.  It is too bad the party in power has a perverse disdain for both.

Gay TV, The New ABnormal, UNreality Shows

The latest "Where We Are on TV" report released by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) shows that 4.4% of prime-time TV characters are homosexual, despite the fact that barely over one percent of the U.S. population claim to be "lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender" (LGBT).

In fact, according to this report, homosexuals on TV outnumber Hispanics!

. . . not only that, but Hollywood Mainstreams Polygamy in TV Series

-- From "Gay TV characters hit a record" by CBS News & The Associated Press 10/5/12

With series such as the "The New Normal" and "Go On," the number of gay characters is on the rise. On cable, there's Lena Dunham's HBO comedy "Girls," which features a gay ex-boyfriend. Charlie Sheen's new FX comedy "Anger Management" also has three regular or recurring gay characters.

The study reviewed 97 scripted TV programs scheduled to air in the upcoming season on the broadcast networks, counting a total of 701 series regular characters. The study found that 31 of them are LGBT characters.

On broadcast TV, male LGBT characters continue to outweigh female characters, 55.5 percent to 44.5 percent, the study found.

. . . Hispanic representation has decreased from 5.6 percent to 4.1 percent.

From "LGBT characters on broadcast TV at record high, GLAAD study finds" by Meredith Blake, Los Angeles Times 10/5/12

Leading the pack is ABC, home to "Modern Family" and "Happy Endings," where 5.2% of regular scripted characters (or 10 out of 194) are LGBT. Right on their heels is Fox, with six characters, or about 5.1%. Fox is also the only broadcast network to feature a scripted transgender character, Unique on "Glee."

Numbers are also higher across cable television, where GLAAD counted a total of 35 LGBT characters popping up regularly in scripted series. The overall leader is Showtime with 12, while HBO is home to cable's most inclusive show, "True Blood," which has six gay, lesbian or bisexual characters. Adult Swim, ABC Family, TeenNick and MTV also earned high marks.

The GLAAD study also found that 78% (547) of all series regular characters on prime-time broadcast television are white and that male characters outnumber female characters, 55% to 45%. People with disabilities are virtually nonexistent: There are just four in all of prime-time broadcast television (or 0.6%).

Compare that to the actual demographics of the American population – 72% white, 49.1% male – and it’s clear there’s still room for improvement.

From "Number of gay characters on TV at all time high: ‘Glee,’ ‘True Blood’ have the most" by John Jalsevac, LifeSiteNews.com 10/5/12

True Blood was the cable TV show with the highest number of homosexual characters. GLAAD also said that CBS “improved” and will feature four LGBT characters out of 142 series regulars (2.8 percent), up from 0.7 percent last year. The increase came after GLAAD lambasted the network in a 2010 report, prompting CBS President Nina Tassler to apologize and pledge to “do better.”

“It is vital for networks to weave complex and diverse storylines of LGBT people in the different programs they air,” said GLAAD President Herndon Graddick. “When young LGBT people see loving couples like Callie and Arizona on Grey’s Anatomy or Degrassi‘s confident transgender high school student Adam Torres, they find characters they can look up to and slowly start building the courage to live authentically.”

You can laugh and say it's just a joke, but through a war of inches, Hollywood continues its assault to define deviancy down and to normalize destructive behavior. Humor is an excellent way to get us used to and to take the shock value out of something hideous and immoral.

If you don't think there's an agenda behind this, you haven't been paying attention the last 40 years. And if you don't think that there are those who hold the levers of power in our popular culture that would like to remove the stigma from bestiality, you don't understand the depths of sexual depravity the human animal is capable of.

I used to laugh at loud at the term "slippery slope."

Graphic Pro-life Super Bowl Ad Commercials to Air

If money is raised, pro-life advocate Randall Terry will run commercials during the most-watched NFL football game showing "bloody fetuses." Broadcasters are forbidden by law to censor the message because Terry is running the ads as part of his presidential candidacy for the Democrat nomination.

Randall Terry was one of the leaders of the 1991 "Summer of Mercy" abortion protests in Wichita, where authorities made more than 2,700 arrests over several weeks.

Terry is using his presidential run to draw attention to his anti-abortion agenda. He plans a campaign swing Monday in Illinois followed by stops in Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Minnesota and Idaho.

From "Randall Terry Bringing Aborted Fetus Ads To Super Bowl" reported by Huffington Post 1/11/12

Randall Terry, the anti-abortion activist who announced last year that he would challenge Obama for the Democratic presidential nomination, has resurfaced with a bigger platform to get his message out.

Terry is known for his gruesome ads featuring what look to be aborted fetuses, which have already hit the air in Iowa, and now they are coming to the Super Bowl if he can raise the funds. Television stations and affiliates are normally allowed to block indecent content, but Terry is exploiting an FCC loophole that prevents censorship of political ads within 45 days of a presidential primary or caucus. Christian News Wire reports that the ads will air in 40 markets whose primaries fall in that window after Super Bowl Sunday . . .

From "Super Bowl antiabortion ads, Web site ramps up as Roe vs. Wade anniversary approaches" by Elizabeth Flock, Washington Post 1/12/12

. . . Terry launched a non-serious campaign for president late last year so that he would be able to run gruesome ads of dead fetuses in key primary states. Slate explains that Terry is using a FCC loophole that requires stations to run even grisly campaign ads. The ads will next be seen in some cities during the Super Bowl, according to Mother Jones.

The ads are reportedly in response to the actions of “The Abortion Gang,” an abortion-rights advocacy group that asked supporters to donate to such groups every time Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow scored a touchdown.

From "Why NBC Is Powerless To Stop Ad Featuring Dismembered Fetuses Running In Super Bowl" by Jim Edwards, Business Insider 1/12/12

Normally, NBC screens Super Bowl ads ahead of time for taste and audience appropriateness. It nixes ads that have too much commercial, adult, or objectionable content.

But federal election law allows candidates for office to run whatever campaign ads they like, and NBC cannot stop them. So Operation Rescue founder Terry Randall, who is making a non-serious "run" for president, has bought "campaign" ads during the Super Bowl on local NBC affiliate stations that have primary elections within the following 45 days of the big game.

From "Super Bowl to air graphic abortion ad during game" by Matt Lacy, Greeley Gazette 1/9/12

Terry has already run political ads featuring graphic images of babies killed by abortion during the first and second trimester. The ads were part of a three day ad run in New Hampshire on WBIN. The ads consisted of four 30 second spots that ran in rotation that attacked Obama’s support of child killing by abortion.

While Terry realizes he stands little chance of getting the Democratic nomination, he said he is running in order to give pro-life Catholics and evangelicals in the Democratic Party a choice during the primary season.

The difference between the candidates could not be more stark. Obama has 100 percent rating from militant pro-abortion group NARAL. While a state Senator in Illinois, Obama vetoed a bill that would require babies that survived an abortion be given medical treatment.

Bullied by Anti-bullying Media: Candidate Santorum

In typical hypocritical fashion, the pro-homosexual liberals who label Christians as bullies for quoting the Bible regarding the sinfulness of homosexual behavior, loved NBC's Saturday Night Live parody skit that bullied presidential candidate, and conservative Roman Catholic Rick Santorum.

-- From "Santorum calls SNL sketch 'bullying'" by Justin Sink, The Hill 10/17/11

[In the skit,] Actors playing contenders Herman Cain and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney were seated at the [debate] table, while Texas Gov. Rick Perry was placed in the corner of the set, Rep. Ron Paul (Texas) was banished to a parking garage, former Speaker Newt Gingrich (Ga.) and Rep. Michele Bachmann (Minn.) were put a broom closet, and Santorum in "a crowded gay bar in the Castro district of San Francisco."

Although Santorum, played by Andy Samberg, had only a limited roll in the sketch, he was portrayed as upset and uncomfortable.

Santorum has been a frequent target of gay-advocacy groups, who have denounced his stances on gay marriage and the repeal of the military's "Don't ask, don't tell" policy. Last month, the candidate said that the gay community had "gone out on a jihad" against him for his stance against gay marriage.

"I welcome the criticism, go ahead. I'm going to stand up for the values that made this country great," Santorum said.

On Saturday, at a ceremony featuring Seth MacFarlane - creator of [TV's] "Family Guy" and official Harvard Humanist of the Year - Epstein launched a nationwide network of groups like his, designed to offer atheists the fellowship and ceremony of churchgoing without any belief in the transcendent.

The need for such communities may be especially acute on today’s college campuses. Millennials are the least religious generation in recent history. According to the Pew Research Center, fully one-fourth of adults under 30 describe themselves as atheist, agnostic, or "nothing in particular" - and many are floundering as they search for purpose.

"There’s a huge community of college-aged people who call themselves ‘spiritual but not religious,’" said Victor Kazanjian, dean of intercultural education and religious and spiritual life at Wellesley College. "They don’t have an organized community in which to belong and in which to ask questions of meaning."

Heralded by a live rendition of the theme from Family Guy, Seth W. MacFarlane, the show’s creator, took a swig of what appeared to be alcohol in front of a packed audience at Memorial Church this Saturday.

“This is kind of hilarious doing this in a church. [I’ll just] take communion here,” said MacFarlane, who was accepting the fifth-annual Harvard Humanist of the Year Award [sponsored by the Harvard Humanist Chaplaincy].

His speech, which delivered religious punch line after punch line, addressed what he described as the corrupting influence of religion in today’s society. His address supported Humanism as an alternative to traditional religion.

Underlying MacFarlane’s argument was the notion that religion is no longer necessary to keep society intact. Instead, he said, people should turn to reason and science to uphold moral values.
