A new peer-reviewed study in the scientific journal Nature may be hard for Al Gore and other global warming activists to swallow.

The study predicts that global warming will stop until at least 2015, a prediction that contradicts the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and former Vice President Gore, who have issued dire warnings about rising global temperatures. The document notes that global surface temperature will not increase until 2015, "as natural climate variations in the North Atlantic and tropical Pacific temporarily offset the projected anthropogenic [manmade] warming."
The prediction is based on initial findings from a new computer model about how the oceans behave over decades. Paul Driessen, senior policy advisor for the Congress of Racial Equality and Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow, says although the new model is improved because it takes into account the influence of ocean currents, it will be decades before scientists understand all the factors influencing climate change.
. . . Driessen is also a former Sierra Club member and has written extensively on global climate change. "Certainly the climate is changing -- warming [and] cooling. It's been doing that for a long time. I don't see that there's any evidence for a catastrophe, and what we're dealing with to a large extent is an awful lot of headlines, hype, hysteria, Hollywood special effects, and computer models. But they are not evidence that humans are driving some kind of catastrophic climate change -- certainly any kind of climate change that we haven't seen the past," Driessen points out.
According to Driessen, like other computer models used to study climate, this one should also be "taken with a grain of salt." He believes, although the study argues the change in ocean currents is masking man-made global warming, when one looks at the record, it is not borne out. He notes temperatures went up and down in the 20th century while carbon dioxide was increasing in the atmosphere.

"Sustainability": the New PC Code Word
First "social justice," then "disposition training," now "sustainability" is academia's new code word of forced ideology

The academic left is fond of buzzwords that sound harmless but function in a highly ideological way. Many schools of education and social work require students to have a good "disposition." In practice this means that conservatives need not apply, as highly publicized attempts to penalize right-wing students at Brooklyn College and Washington State University revealed. "Social justice" is an even more useful codeword. Who can oppose it? But some schools made the mistake of spelling out that it means advocacy for causes of the left, including support for gay marriage and adoption, also opposition to "institutional racism," heterosexism, classism and ableism. Students at Teachers College, Columbia, are required to acknowledge that belief in "merit, social mobility and individual responsibility" often produce and perpetuate social inequalities. Even in its mildest form "social justice" puts schools in a position of judging the acceptability of students' political and social opinions.
Now the left is organizing around its most powerful codeword yet: sustainability. Dozens of universities now have sustainability programs. Arizona State is bulking up its curriculum and seems to be emerging as the strongest sustainability campus. UCLA has a housing floor devoted to sustainability. The American College Personnel Association (ACPA) has a sustainability task force and has joined eight other education associations to form a sustainability consortium. Pushed by the cultural left, UNESCO has declared the United National Decade of Education for Sustainable Development 2005-2014, featuring the now ubiquitous symbol of the sustainability movement - three overlapping circles representing environmental, economic and social reform (i.e., ecology is only a third of what the movement is about).
Only recently have the goals and institutionalization of the movement become clear. The Association for the Advancement of Sustainability is Higher Education (AASHE) says it "defines sustainability is an inclusive way, encompassing human and ecological health, social justice, secure livelihoods and a better world for all generations." When the residential life program at the University of Delaware - possibly the most appalling indoctrination program ever to appear on an American campus - was presented, Res Life director Kathleen Kerr packaged it as a sustainability program. Since suspended, possibly only temporarily, the program discussed mandatory sessions for students as "treatments" and insisted that whites acknowledge their role as racists. It also required students to achieve certain competencies including "students will recognize that systemic oppression exists in our society." At a conference, Kerr explained "the social justice aspects of sustainability education," referring to "environmental racism," "domestic partnerships" and "gender equity."

The President of the University of Toledo has terminated my employment following my speaking, as a citizen, of the Biblical view of the issue of homosexuality. He indicated in the media, that my viewpoints "aren't consistent with University stated values."
I will stand on my principles, the laws of our country and my Christian faith.
I and my legal team which includes local/lead counsel Attorney Thomas Sobecki and the Thomas More Law Center will be filing a lawsuit(s) on multiple fronts.
As a single individual, the cost of this fight appears to be mammoth, but I will not be deterred.

Ben Stein Provokes the Liberals' Wrath

Ben Stein is known to many as an actor on Comedy Central. But the funniest part about his latest movie called "Expelled" is not any clever lines spoken by Stein but the hysterical way the liberals are trying to discourage people from seeing it.
Stein's critics don't effectively refute anything in "Expelled"; they just use epithets to ridicule it and hope they can make it go away. However, it won't go away; even Scientific American, which labeled the movie "shameful," concedes that it cannot be ignored.
The movie is about how scientists who dare to criticize Darwinism or discuss the contrary theory called Intelligent Design (ID) are expelled, fired, denied tenure, blacklisted, and bitterly denounced. Academic freedom doesn't extend to this issue.
The message of Stein's critics comes through loud and clear. They don't want anybody to challenge Darwinian orthodoxy or suggest that Intelligent Design might be an explanation of the origin of life.
Stein, who serves as his own narrator in the movie, is very deadpan about it all. He doesn't try to convince the audience that Darwinism is a fraud, or that God created the world, or even that some unidentified Intelligent Design might have started life on Earth.
Stein merely shows the intolerance of the universities, the government, the courts, the grant-making foundations and the media, and their determination to suppress any mention of Intelligent Design.
The only question posed by the movie is why, oh why, is there such a deliberate, consistent, widespread, vindictive effort to silence all criticism of dogmatic Darwinism or discussion of alternate theories of the origin of life? Stein interviews scientists who were blacklisted, denied grants, and ostracized in the academic community because they dared to write or speak the forbidden words.

Wright is Wrong
"Christians should oppose Wright, not because of his statements against the country...but because he is the prophet of a false Gospel."

How does a Christian respond about the Jeremiah Wright issue? There seem to be four issues on the table that those who call themselves Christians must consider. Wright put forth three points of view that seem to contradict the bible. He touches upon the issues of The Black church and it's Liberation Theology, views on the God of the bible, and the bible itself.
Wright's concept of a "black church" seems to be wrong on many bases. Wright began the speech at the Press Club by saying that the recent attacks have not been on him, but instead “an attack on the black church.” What does that mean? What is the "black church," as opposed to the church of which the bible speaks? When Wright speaks of the African-American church no longer being "invisible” and “the prophetic theology of the black church,” it seems that he is speaking of some “church” that is different than the one that emerged in the Book of Acts as recorded in the bible.
This "black church" has a theology that he terms “liberation theology” which began gaining currency in Latin America in the 1960's. He stated, “Liberation theology started in and started from a different place. It started from the vantage point of the oppressed.” In saying that, Rev. Wright clearly admits that his theology started from some place other than with the apostles and the recorded events in the Book of Acts. This theology started from the vantage point of man, rather than the vantage point of God. He later tries to merge this Liberation Theology with the church of the bible by stating that he “traced the theology of the black church back to the prophets in the Hebrew bible and to its last prophet...Jesus.” He is clearly unsuccessful and demonstrates that his understanding of the scripture is vastly different than what is revealed in scripture itself.
This becomes even more apparent when he states that this theology sets the “slaveholders free from the notion that they could define other human beings.” As he explains, it also sets “African-Americans free from the notion of second-class citizenship.” He goes on at length talking like this, but never comes close to language suggesting that the theology of the black church is to give eternal life through belief and trust in God's Christ who is named Jesus!
This theology has two foci: liberation and transformation, both of which are rooted in the black experience, which includes Malcolm X. He also states, “Black worship is different from European and European-American worship.” This black theology is different. It is different from Biblical theology!
In addition, Wright said something else at this press conference that was quite troubling: “If I see God as mean, vengeful, authoritarian, sexist, or misogynist, then I see humans through that lens.” By listing attributes that are character flaws he attempts to show that if humans see God as having these character flaws, then they will emulate God and thus have those same character flaws, suggesting that God does not have those character flaws. However, as one looks at the list of attributes, the attribute of authoritarian stands out. Is Wright saying that God being authoritarian is a character flaw? Is he saying that his understanding of God is that God does not exercise authority in the universe that he created? Being that he equates the attribute of authoritarian with misogyny, it would seem that his God is not authoritarian. I also remember something in the bible along the line of “vengeance is mine, I will repay.”
But probably the clearest rejection of the god of the bible came when the moderator asked Wright about the famous scripture, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No man comes unto the Father but by me.” She asked him, "Do you believe this?" And do you think Islam is a way to salvation?" Wright responded, “Jesus also said, "Other sheep have I who are not of this fold." Wright has mangled and distorted a passage of scripture to suit his own purposes. The passage of scripture he tried to quote is from the Gospel of John 10:1-16. Jesus starts off the passage by using an analogy of sheep and a sheepfold, where the sheep represent God's people and the sheepfold is where God's people congregate. Jesus says that anyone who tries to gain access to the fellowship of God's people without first going through the door of the sheepfold, but instead climbs in another way, is a thief and a robber. Jesus goes on to say that he himself is the door - thus affirming that he is the only way to God and his people.
In verse 16 Jesus continues by making the statement that he has other sheep that are not of this fold but, “I must bring them also” into the fold. Jesus said "I", not Mohammad or any other religious figure. The passage that Wright tried to quote, clearly affirms that Jesus is the only way to the Father and not that Islam is another way to salvation.
Bible believing Christians should not oppose Wright, because of his statements against the country - although they are ridiculous (as one prominent politician recently said.) We should oppose him because he is the prophet of a false gospel. He is a false prophet, with a false “black church,” a false “black theology,” and a false god that has a different Christ than the one revealed in the bible. I am saddened that I have not heard the church of Jesus Christ tell the world that Jeremiah Wright does not speak for the real Jesus Christ!

“They don’t care about women, they care about one thing—their bank account, and increasing the number of abortions in America. This is another ploy for them to increase their already $1 billion budget which they just reported this year.”

“They don’t want to be known as the leading provider of abortions in the country. They want to be known as an organization that helps college women and gets them the contraception they need, but they don’t really want to advertise what they do best and that is killing babies.”
If its really a problem, Planned Parenthood could take the money out of its reserves. A recent lawsuit in California alleges that Planned Parenthood overcharged the government a whopping $180 million dollars in reimbursements for contraceptives.

"People are shocked to hear that it's happening and even that it's possible," said Youngdahl, a 20-year-old sophomore. But "once you actually live in it, it doesn't actually turn into a big deal."
In the prim 1950s, college dorms were off-limits to members of the opposite sex. Then came the 1970s, when male and female students started crossing paths in coed dormitories. Now, to the astonishment of some Baby Boomer parents, a growing number of colleges are going even further: coed rooms.
At least two dozen schools, including Brown University, the University of Pennsylvania, Oberlin College, Clark University and the California Institute of Technology, allow some or all students to share a room with anyone they choose — including someone of the opposite sex. This spring, as students sign up for next year's room, more schools are following suit, including Stanford University.

A discussion on religion, homosexuality and therapy that had been scheduled during the American Psychiatric Association's annual meeting in Washington has been shut down following an attack by a "gay" publication on some of the people planning to participate.
The symposium called "Homosexuality and Therapy: The Religion Dimension," had been in the plans for months at the APA convention in Washington, and was to feature advocates for homosexuality including New Hampshire Bishop Gene Robinson of the Episcopal church and was to be moderated by Harvard psychiatrist John Peteet.
Others scheduled to be on the podium included Grove City College professor Warren Throckmorton, who has studied related issues intensively, and Rev. Albert Mohler, president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
But the event, scheduled Monday, has been yanked from the schedule, according to the APA, because of the "misinformation and rhetoric" that was circulating about the issue.
Peter LaBarbera, of Americans for Truth, said the reaction to a plan to talk "shows the intellectual shallowness of the gay side."
"They're afraid of a debate," he said, noting it wouldn't be correct to "paint Warren Throckmorton as the religious right."
"The gay activists don't want to admit ex-gays exist, when they clearly do," he said.
The attack was launched by the Gay City News publication, which on April 24 denigrated Throckmorton as "a psychologist without state board certification and an advocate for 'sexual identity therapy,' and quoted opponents calling him a "spin doctor of the ex-gay myth."
. . . Throckmorton had written just a day earlier when Robinson had announced his own sudden withdrawal from the event:
"Bishop Robinson provided the following explanation," Throckmorton wrote. "'Conservatives, particularly Focus on the Family, were going to use this event to draw credibility to the so-called reparative therapy movement,' Robinson told the Blade. 'It became clear to me in the last couple of weeks that just my showing up and letting this event happen … lends credibility to that so-called therapy.'"
. . . Robinson's statement to the Blade, however, made it clear that his intent was by refusing now to appear, after having agreed to do so, to shut down the discussion of homosexuality and religion.
The Washington Times is reporting that the attack launched by the Gay City News was followed quickly by the Washington Blade, which said the "panel could legitimize 'homophobic views.'"

Lesbians Riot to Shut Down Free Speech at Smith College
College president's statement labels speech 'reprehensible' for countering 'born gay' beliefs; president recommends students attend pro-homosexual movie

Dozens of lesbian activists at Smith College climbed in through windows and stormed the podium in a riot scene shortly after Ryan Sorba began a speech on his upcoming book, The Born Gay Hoax. The melee forced an end to the speech before a packed hall in the library on the Northampton campus. Uniformed police officers and a plainclothes security guard were in the room but mostly just stood and watched. Rather than take action against the rioters, the officers and a university official walked to the podium and ordered Sorba to leave the room “for his own safety.”
There were no arrests and no charges of disorderly conduct. This would seem to be a clear violation of the Massachusetts’ Civil Rights statutes.
Sorba had been invited to speak by the Smith Republican Club and the speech had been widely publicized. He has given the speech at colleges around the country, most recently at Framingham State College. The Smith Republicans had asked the police to be present in case any disruption took place during the event.
The disruption appeared to be planned in advance. The intent was clearly to stop the speech from taking place and to terrorize and intimidate the participants. Shortly after Sorba began speaking, members of the audience started chanting slogans and beating on pots and pans. Then about 15 minutes into the speech, people began to climb into the room through the windows, and a group stormed the podium and stood in front of it screaming and jumping up and down. Then dozens of people began running throughout the room began and screaming “We’re here, we’re queer, get used to it” and later “Hell no, we won’t go.” It quickly became impossible for the speech to continue.
. . . After Sorba left the room, the rioters talked about this action being “queer activism”. And so it is. This is exactly how the homosexual movement views free speech and civil rights in their march to and force their social and sexual agenda on others and intimidate and terrorize anyone who would criticize or disagree. Truth and freedom become subjected to the whims of thought police and rioters.

President Bush Celebrates National Day of Prayer

And on this day, we celebrate our freedoms, particularly the freedom to pray in public and the great diversity of faith found in America. I love being the President of a country where people feel free to worship as they see fit. And I remind our fellow citizens, if you choose to worship or not worship, and no matter how you worship, we're all equally American. (Applause.)
I think one of the interesting things about a National Day of Prayer is it does help describe our nation's character to others. We are a prayerful nation. A lot of citizens draw comfort from prayer. Prayer is an important part of the lives of millions of Americans. And it's interesting, when you think about our faith you can find it in the Pledge of Allegiance, you can find an expression of American faith in the Declaration of Independence, and you can find it in the coins in our pockets. I used to carry coins -- (laughter) -- in about 10 months I'll be carrying them again. (Laughter and applause.)
The fidelity to faith has been present in our nation's leaders from its very start. Upon assuming the presidency, George Washington took the oath of office and then added the famous plea, "So help me God." On John Adams's first day in the White House, he wrote a prayer that is now etched in marble on the fireplace in the State Dining Room, and he prayed, "May none but honest and wise men ever rule under this roof." Now we'll leave it to the historians to judge whether or not that happened throughout our history. (Laughter.)
During the Civil War, Abraham Lincoln turned to prayer. His second Inaugural Address quoted from Scripture. He stood before the United States people and quoted from Scripture. And he sought to heal a people who "read the same Bible and prayed to the same God" -- his words.

CANADA: Ministry Fined $23,000 for Firing Homosexual Employee

Canadian ministry Christian Horizons has been fined more than $23,000 for firing an employee who was actively engaged in a homosexual relationship.
Christian Horizons is an evangelical ministry in Ontario that has cared for more than 1,400 people with developmental disabilities in 180 group homes. The group requires all employees to sign a contract agreeing to abstain from all sexual immorality, including homosexuality. When Christian Horizons fired a female employee who became involved with another woman, she complained to the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, which fined the ministry $23,000 and two years back pay.
Jordan Lorence with the Alliance Defense Fund believes the homosexual agenda will continue to persecute the Christian agenda as it gains power. He labels the Canada situation "a very significant threat to religious liberty."
In addition, contends the attorney, it is another example that "whether you're in Europe or Canada or the United States, when the homosexual activists gain control with their legislation, they show an increasingly authoritarian core to beat down any Christian or traditional-type opposition to their same-sex relationships and conduct."

On Friday, April 25, students in hundreds of schools throughout the U.S. remained home in protest over the pro-homosexual ‘Day of Silence.’
The six-week campaign by a coalition of pro-family groups set out to inform parents about this radical, misleading event, and it was very successful. “Because of the efforts of numerous national and state groups, we believe thousands of parents and educators who were previously unaware of the ‘homosexual agenda’ directed toward students, are now well- informed and motivated,” said Linda Harvey, president of Mission America, the group which hosted a national list of participating schools on its web site at www.missionamerica.com .
The Day of Silence, now in its twelfth year, draws attention to students involved in or supporting homosexual, bisexual and cross-gender behaviors, through silent protest on one designated day each year. Sponsored by GLSEN, the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network, the stated goal of the DOS is to protest discrimination, bullying and intolerance. “In reality, the protest attempts to tag along with legitimate causes and gain sympathy among impressionable youth for immoral, high–risk behaviors while demonizing opponents,” Harvey said. “It’s divisive, deceptive and totally inappropriate in a school setting. Because of this, we encouraged parents to keep their children home if the school was sponsoring or encouraging the Day of Silence.”

Zacharias’ prayer stands in stark contrast to the first prayer of the Continental Congress, which was delivered on September 7, 1774 by Reverend Jacob Duché. That distinctly Christian prayer ended with the words: “All this we ask in the name and through the merits of Jesus Christ, Thy Son and our Savior. Amen.” It is the name of Jesus that separates the Christian faith from non-Christian faiths.

Study Confirms the Obvious: Few Journalists Conservative or Christian

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)--Just 6 percent of national journalists describe themselves as conservative, compared with 36 percent of the overall population, according to an annual survey released in March by the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press.
The State of the Media report said 2 percent of the journalists and news executives surveyed consider themselves very conservative, while 53 percent of national journalists described themselves as moderate, 24 percent as liberal and 8 percent as very liberal.
. . . Overall, only 8 percent of journalists at national media outlets said they attend church or synagogue weekly.
Almost two-thirds of the journalists in the survey admitted that their political leanings impact their reporting as the line between reporting and commentary is blurred.

The nation that liberalized its abortion laws in 2002 is now giving unprecedented protection to animal and plant life.
In an effort to respect the needs of "social species," the Swiss parliament passed legislation last week that threatens its citizens with punishment for not providing various animals a fit environment in which they can interact and flourish.
Enjoying the most extensive protection under the new laws, dogs proved to be the Swiss parliament's best friend. Prospective dog owners will now be required to complete a course in canine treatment that will include both theoretical and practical elements.
Due to concern over recent studies suggesting the pain experienced by fish, anglers are now subjected to a preparatory course on humane fishing.
...In addition to tending to the animal kingdom, the Swiss government has also been busy wrestling with how best to treat the nation's plants.
The Swiss federal government's ethics committee on non-human biotechnology has been working to determine what kind of research respects "plant dignity" enough to be eligible for government funding.

Seattle Pastor Leads 495 Students to Boycott Day of Silence

A Day of Silence inside Mount Si High School meant to show support for gay and lesbian students erupted in noisy protests outside.
More than one-third of students didn't show up for classes Friday. Principal Randy Taylor said 495 out of 1,410 students weren't at school, including 85 athletes whose parents had asked that they be excused for their personal beliefs.
About 100 people joined the Rev. Ken Hutcherson, a prominent anti-gay-rights activist, in prayer and song that questioned the dedication of a school day to what they said was a controversial political cause.
It's amazing what a difference a strong, courageous pastor can make...

IL Pastor Exhorts High School to Protect Students
Pastor Steven Farish sent this letter to Libertyville High School in Illinois regarding the recent Day of Silence (April 25, 2008.)
Stephen Farish is the senior pastor at Crossroads Church in Grayslake, IL.
Please pray that God will strengthen, protect, and equip this pastor. Pray also that God will raise up others like him - men who will recognize the fact that there is a great spiritual battle taking place for the minds, hearts and souls of our children in our public schools, and be willing to engage in that battle.
I am a 15-year Libertyville resident with a student at Libertyville High School. I am writing to express my concern about the support District 128 is lending to the "Day of Silence" tomorrow. I understand that the district has no choice legally but to recognize a right for students and faculty to publicize and observe (during non-class hours) this day in support of homosexual rights. However, one of my daughter's teachers has indicated she will not be speaking at all during class tomorrow and will simply give the class a written assignment to complete. Even the American Civil Liberties Union, in a advisory communique to its followers, has recognized that faculty and students do not have a constitutional right to remain silent during class periods.
However, my far greater concern has to do with welfare of young people. To put it crudely, human anatomy confirms that homosexual practices are unnatural. That is why such activity is attended with so much physical disease; homosexuals use body parts for purposes for which those parts were not designed. Much more serious than the physical danger in many cases, however, is the psychological damage that often comes with homosexual practices, which damage can include anger and self-loathing. For the district to encourage young people (even tacitly) in unnatural acts seems to me to be profoundly unwise and ultimately (though I know this is not your intent) uncaring. The massive study published by Jones and Yarhouse in 2007 indicates that significant numbers of men and women who practice a homosexual lifestyle, can, with appropriate help from caring people, be brought out of that lifestyle or at least learn to live in peaceful celibacy.
Thank you for hearing me out on this issue. I appreciate any changes you might make in the district's approach to "Day of Silence."

Abortion Services at 200 East Eckerson Road in New City, N.Y., was one of more than 50 clinics across the nation where 40 Days for Life prayer vigils were conducted this spring. "My family and I visited that particular clinic vigil on a snowy night earlier this year," said Bereit. "My wife and children were photographed alongside a young man who carried a sign reading, 'Nothing is impossible with God.' That is certainly the case here. The prayerful efforts of many pro-lifers over the years have won this victory. We are humbled to know that people participating in the 40 Days for Life campaign may have played a role in the peaceful closure of this abortion center."
Bereit said there are also reports that two Planned Parenthood locations where 40 Days for Life prayer vigils were held have stopped performing abortions. One is in Lincoln, Nebraska and the other is in Council Bluffs, Iowa. In both cases the cessation of abortions was unexpected. "40 Days for Life leaders in both cities are unsure of the reason," said Bereit, "but they suspect it is because no abortionist is available since both facilities previously shared the same abortionist.
We also know that in Lincoln, at least one mother decided against abortion after learning Planned Parenthood was no longer providing them. She took that as a sign from God that her baby was meant to live."

A Republican congressman joined black pastors and pro-life activists in a demonstration at Planned Parenthood offices in the nation's capital today to protest an alleged pattern of racist practices by the abortion provider.
"African-Americans are having abortions at a hugely disproportionate rate according to their population, and Planned Parenthood has no shame whatsoever in accepting money that specifically targets our community," said Day Gardner, president of the National Black Pro-Life Union.

Rep. Trent Franks of Arizona appeared at the event this morning along with black leaders who signed a letter to all presidential candidates, the Congressional Black Caucus, both Republican and Democrat Congressional and Senatorial Campaign Committees and the Democrat and Republican National Committees.
The protesters, mobilized by the group Students for Life, are demanding Congress stop funding Planned Parenthood, which received more than $336 million in government grants and contracts in the most recent fiscal year, according to the organization's annual report.
"Planned Parenthood's questionable, and possibly criminal, business practices are having a profound effect on African-American communities all across this nation," the leaders write.
The undercover investigation included a phone conversation, presented in a YouTube video, the caller states that he wants his donation to be earmarked for a "black baby," because he thinks there are too many blacks and that he wants his son to avoid competition by affirmative action.
