Georgia Atheists Decapitate, Eat Fetus (cookies)

This week, the North Georgia Skeptics Society held a pro-abortion rally at the University of North Georgia (UNG) displaying fetus-shaped cookies, which the atheists tore limb-from-limb (simulating abortion procedures) and bit the heads off while laughing.
“Abortion should remain legal because … my vagina is too pretty to let a fetus crawl out.”

UNG Students for Life posted the photos on its Facebook page, saying the images were distasteful.

"Personally, I cannot imagine why one of your members felt it a decent or clever thing to dismember baby cookies by breaking off their heads. Even to simply allow that on your table was tasteless, irresponsible, and vile—there is absolutely no removing yourself from that," wrote Carly McCurry, president of Students for Life, in a letter addressed to Skeptics Society on Facebook.

McCurry said another photo showed more dismembered baby heads in plastic containers with the eyes marked with red colour.

McCurry narrated that one professor yelled at her to leave and checked her permits while the Skeptics Society was openly playing loud rap music that discussed holding women down and raping them.

Several social media posts detail an apparent pro-abortion rally at the University of North Georgia held last week at which cookies in the shape of babies were reportedly eaten and had their heads broken off.

The details emerged in part thanks to popular conservative blogger Matt Walsh, who received a tip from a campus source and sounded the alarm on Facebook this week. His campus source said some of the cookies were eaten.

“This is dark and disturbed in ways that can’t be fully described. I’ve been saying this about the pro-abortion movement for a long time. As much as you might want to give ‘pro-choicers’ the benefit of the doubt, the fact remains that they are advocating for the murder of human children. That is an insidious, terrible, deeply evil thing. And they are carrying it around with them in their hearts and in their souls,” Walsh continued.

A request for comment from the university’s campus media affairs office on Wednesday by The College Fix was not immediately returned.

NFL, Businesses Declare War on Georgia Christians

The Georgia legislature has passed a very weak, watered-down version of a religious freedom bill (RFRA) but the former Democrat, now Republican Governor Nathan Deal may veto the bill as every sexual revolutionary force available is threatening to cripple the state economically if Christians are allowed to live as their faith dictates.
“If the governor did make the decision to veto the bill, that most definitely does not end the debate.  The faith community is not just going to say, ‘Oh well. He vetoed the bill. Let’s pack up and go home.’ It becomes more intense in 2017.”

The Georgia state legislature on Thursday approved a bill to allow faith-based establishments, including churches, schools and other organizations, to refuse service or employment to same-sex couples based on their religious beliefs. While groups such as the Georgia Baptist Mission Board see the bill as a First Amendment victory, opponents argue that the bill promotes discrimination against the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. Currently more than 400 businesses, including large corporations such as Microsoft and Virgin Atlantic, stand against the bill and could threaten Georgia's status as a leading business state.

. . . The bill, which has undergone several changes, says faith-based organizations can refuse to provide certain services to those who violate their "sincerely held religious belief." It also says faith-based groups could not be forced to hire or retain employees whose beliefs are contrary to their own and that the government must prove a "compelling governmental interest" before it interferes with a person's exercise of religion.

The bill, which lawmakers approved on Wednesday, now faces the scrutiny of Gov. Nathan Deal, a Republican. But it is clear that companies and sports organizations, including Apple, Coca-Cola, Delta Air Lines and the National Football League, will have a significant effect on public debate and the governor’s decision to sign or veto the measure.

Supporters of the bill, which Georgia lawmakers named the Free Exercise Protection Act, say it is a bulwark against pressure for people of many religious faiths to endorse, or at least accept, same-sex marriage.

Georgia Prospers, a coalition of corporations based in Georgia or with deep ties to the state, said more than 480 companies agreed that the bill “could harm our ability to create and keep jobs that Georgia families depend upon.”

Corporate opposition, strategists said, will be central to the efforts to defeat the bill with Mr. Deal, who is known for his careful cultivation of the business community. Supporters of the law said corporate involvement would be meddling.

From "Georgia Guts Religious Freedom Bill" by Ryan T. Anderson, posted at The Daily Signal 3/18/16

The new version of the bill [that passed] provides Religious Freedom Restoration Act levels of protection for certain protected persons, but it explicitly says these protections cannot apply in cases of “invidious discrimination.” Of course, no one is in favor of invidious discrimination, but the problem is that in the hands of a liberal judge, everything looks like invidious discrimination even when it is not, such as religious universities or adoption agencies that want their policies to reflect their teachings on marriage. This apes the bad “fix” that gutted the Indiana religious freedom bill.

What this “fix” means in practice is that if a new or existing law creating special legal privileges based on sexual orientation and gender identity conflicts with a sincere religious belief, the Georgia religious freedom bill may provide no protection—not even the standard balancing test that is the hallmark of religious freedom restoration acts. So in an area where we most need religious liberty protection, the new Georgia law goes out of its way to disclaim it.

. . . the new Georgia bill provides no protection for bakers or florists or other similar wedding professionals who cannot help celebrate a same-sex wedding. While it does provide protections for priests and pastors not to have to perform same-sex weddings and for everyone not to attend them, the U.S. Constitution already provides such protections. So the bill doesn’t protect those who most need it, but it protects those who already have it.

America's First All-Gay K-12 School: Atlanta

“Pride School Atlanta” is being launched from the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta by a middle-aged transgender entrepreneur (currently) named Christian Zsilavetz to provide a $13,000-annual-tuition, non-judgmental education that is “free of homophobia and transphobia” for any student considered “different.”  However, the unanswered question is, Who is labeling the children, as young as five, as gay?

Their first student could be this 6-year-old girl (who WAS a 52-year-old man).

And, their first teacher could be any one of these sexual-predator homosexual teachers.

“Kids have full permission to be themselves — as well as educators. Where there’s no wondering, ‘Is this teacher going to be a person for me to be myself with?’” Zsilavetz told the AP.

According to the school’s website, the teaching model offers a flexible curriculum with “no mandatory homework or testing.” The open-learning model is designed to encourage students to pursue subjects they are interested in.

According to the school’s website “All students will have the freedom, responsibility, and support to create their own individualized curriculum, education, and school climate through trust and democratic decision-making processes. Sometimes students thrive on structure in their day, and at other times freedom. In our model, borrowed from longstanding schools around the world, curriculum is flexible and there is no mandatory homework or testing. Students are free to discover what, when and how they prefer to learn, trusted that their natural curiosity and desire to pursue personal goals will lead them to a rigorous and rich education. Each day will be full of opportunities for each member of the Pride School Family to become the best person they can be, ready to face the world with confidence, knowledge, and the ability to help others do the same.”

It is part of a small but growing group of schools popping up nationally geared toward educating LGBT youth, who feel disenfranchised from public education. Zsilavetz, 45, who's taught math and other subjects since 1992, says he never felt truly open or supported by administrators while teaching in public schools and wanted that to change. He wanted LGBT students and teachers to be able to openly discuss who they are in a school setting without fear.

Besides being intended for gay and transgender students, the school also hopes to create a welcoming environment for transgender teachers who may encounter hostility in a public school environment.

The school isn’t the first one to put a focus on gay students. New York City actually has a public high school, Harvey Milk High School, that is designed for LGBT students. Pride School, though, will be K-12, and it is the first school of its kind built in the conservative American South.

The sign, which bears a strong resemblance to a sign at Schuler's bakery in Springfield, Ohio, that went viral recently on Facebook, was purchased from D&S Sign Company for a cost of $553.

The sheriff said the money he spent on the sign has been reimbursed with donations from like-minded residents.

Sometimes political correctness does go too far, but Sheriff Jolley’s sign is not a real effort to rein in the so-called “PC police.” Instead, he seeks a nation in which everyone shares a narrow set of beliefs or finds another place to live.

How confused can one guy get? In Jolley’s case, extremely confused. If Jolley were acting in his capacity as a private citizen, he could put up such a sign without issue. But the placement of an official-looking sign outside the sheriff’s office looks a lot like a government endorsement of belief over non-belief and possibly a violation of the First Amendment.

Beyond that, the sign calls Jolley’s ability to do his job into question. He has sent a message of intimidation to anyone who does not believe in God – or celebrate Christmas, for that matter. This action casts doubt on his ability to treat everyone fairly.

Bible Verse Gets Georgia Athlete Disqualified

The Georgia High School Association (GHSA) negated the third-place finish of John Green, a senior Wolverine of West Forsyth High School (near Atlanta), in the state cross country championship race because he wore a headband printed with “Isaiah 40:30-31.”  Officials said Green's uniform violated a vague and rarely enforced rule, even though they had approved Green's appearance before the race.  Green was photographed wearing the same headband in last year's race, yet he was NOT disqualified.

On Saturday, West Forsyth’s John Green was the third runner out of 226 to cross the finish line in the Class AAAAAA state championship race at Carrollton High School. Soon after collapsing from his effort and offering, as well as receiving, high fives from opponents as they walked by the cool-down tent, Green found out he placed 226th out of 226.

Green was disqualified by GHSA officials for sporting a white, plain head band with “Isaiah 40:30-31” written across the front—the same head band the Forsyth County News has photo evidence of him wearing when he was not disqualified in last year’s state meet.

From "Green's top 3 finish disqualified for headband with Bible verse deemed logo" by Michael Foster, Forsyth County News 11/11/15

According to West head coach Clayton Tillery and others involved in the West program, two GHSA officials cleared Green’s headband before the race. Then, a third man who was not in an official uniform or credentialed made a comment about the headband at the starting line and walked away.

When I approached GHSA officials on Saturday to discuss the ruling I was told “it was a uniform violation,” but when I asked to see in a GHSA handbook where the rule is I was shooed away.

The GHSA links its cross country handbook, a seven-page document, to its website. There are two pages that discuss uniform protocol. Page 4, titled State Meet Cold Weather Reminders, permits “beanies, toboggans, ear covers” of a single color, as long as they only have “one logo” visible. There is no mention of headbands.

The bigger issue, however, was enforcement. Dozens of runners had headbands on, and, according to Tillery, there were other runners in the race who wore headbands with Bible verses and the like written across them. There was also no manufacturer logo on Green’s headband because last year, Tillery says, he ripped it off. There’s also the glaring issue of the third official not communicating clearly to Green or the coaches.

From "Teen runner disqualified from state meet -- Was it the Bible verse?" by Todd Starnes, FoxNews.com 11/11/15

“It is hard to understand how an unreadable, inside-out Bible verse is something harmful to our sport and worthy of a post-race disqualification of a student athlete,” Assistant Coach Scott Griffith said in a prepared statement.

“We felt given the race course conditions, that John would not be able to run safely without something to keep his hair out of his face,” Coach Griffith said.

Since two of the race officials had already cleared the headband, they told him to turn it inside out and run the race. And when John crossed the finish line he was summarily disqualified – for breaking a rule that wasn’t on the books.

John had worn the headband since the start of the 2015 season.  He also wore the headband at region and sectional meets.  At no point was he ever told to take it off.

"When they returned home, the two female athletes separately told their parents that the head coach of Elite Stars, Patricia Hermann, physically and sexually abused them in a hotel room during the trip," Pierce said Monday.

A warrant issued Oct. 22 states that during interviews at the DuPage County [Illinois] Child Advocacy Center, the girls -- ages 13 and 10 -- described Hermann making physical contact with intimate parts of their bodies. Each claim was corroborated by another minor who was staying in the same room, according to the warrant.

No to Lesbian Adoption: Supreme Court in Alabama

The Alabama Supreme Court overturned the Alabama family court decision to recognize a 2007 Georgia adoption of three children by the lesbian lover of their mother.  After the Alabama lesbian couple separated in 2011, the Jefferson County mother fought (in Alabama court) against visitation rights granted her former lover, claiming that the Georgia adoption was invalid because neither lesbian was ever a Georgia resident.

The Alabama justices said a Georgia court was wrong to allow the adoptions, arguing that Georgia law doesn't allow such second-parent adoptions.

The Alabama justices said "Georgia law makes no provision for a non-spouse to adopt a child without first terminating the parental rights of the current parents."

The justices said since the children's biological mother maintained her parental rights, the Georgia court "was not empowered to enter the Georgia judgment declaring (her) to be an adoptive parent of the children."

From "Alabama court voids lesbian couple's Georgia adoption agreement" by Reuters Media 9/19/15

After breaking up in 2011, one woman in the relationship, referred to as V.L., filed a petition in Alabama in 2013 saying she was being denied parental rights by her former partner, referred to as E.L., the biological mother of the children.

In a seven-to-one decision, the court said "the Georgia court was not empowered to enter the Georgia judgment declaring V.L. to be an adoptive parent of the children. ... The Georgia judgment is accordingly void, and the full faith and credit clause does not require the courts of Alabama to recognize that judgment."

The lawyer for E.L., Randall Nichols, said via email that his client was pleased with the decision but regards it as a private family matter.

Alabama has the authority to determine who may adopt based on the best interest of the child to be adopted, [Alabama Justice Tom] Parker wrote. "To this end, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit has held that a state has a legitimate interest in encouraging a stable and nurturing environment for an adopted child by encouraging that the child be raised in the optimal family structure with both a father and a mother," he wrote.

The women had been in a long term relationship and had three children through artificial insemination. The non-biological mother, V.L., adopted the children in Georgia. The biological mother participated in that process and consented in to the adoptions.

When the parents later broke up, the biological mother, E.L., kept V.L. from seeing the children, according to V.L.'s attorneys. V.L. sought visitation in Alabama, where the family lives. E.L. opposed her request, arguing that the Georgia adoption was invalid in Alabama.

The case was first appealed to the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals. That court ruled in October 2014 that the Jefferson County judge had erred when he granted V.L. visitation rights. But then that appeals court reversed itself in February. The case was then appealed to the Alabama Supreme Court.

Kevin Williams, pastor of First Baptist Church of Villa Rica, Georgia, was asked by a coach to baptize him on the football field at Villa Rica High School after dismissal, and he agreed.  So, without involving the school administration, the coach was baptized and so were several student football players — all by their own requests.  After the church posted a video of the event, the Wisconsin-based Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) was alerted and have now threatened a lawsuit against the Carroll County School District.
"We had the privilege of baptizing a bunch of football players and a coach on the field of Villa Rica High School! We did this right before practice! Take a look and see how God is STILL in our schools!"

The Freedom from Religion Foundation sent a letter to Carroll County officials Tuesday asking the district to investigate the incident and ensure there are no more religious events that violate students' constitutional rights on school grounds. The group also requested that the district state the steps it is taking to protect the constitutional rights of students.

Carroll County assistant superintendent Terry S. Jones said in a statement emailed Wednesday to The Associated Press that the school district is taking the "appropriate steps" to investigate the matter.

"The Carroll County School System was made aware of a situation that took place at Villa Rica High School prior to football practice on August 17th," Jones said. "The District is currently looking into the specifics of this situation and will take appropriate steps to ensure all state and federal laws are followed."

. . . details raised the eyebrows of the Wisconsin-based Freedom from Religion Foundation, which asked Carroll County schools to instruct coaches and school staff “that they cannot participate in religious activities with students while acting in their official capacity.”

Federal guidelines released in 2003 say that “teachers and other public school officials may not lead their classes in prayer, devotional readings from the Bible, or other religious activities.”

From "Georgia public school investigates a mass baptism on its football field" by Sarah Pulliam Bailey, Washington Post 9/2/15

Heather Weaver, an attorney for the ACLU, said that if the video and reports are correct, use of public school property and the school coach’s involvement would be unconstitutional. She said the ACLU often receives reports of public schools promoting religion, “but this is one of the most egregious examples I have seen.”

Charles Haynes, vice president of the Newseum Institute’s Religious Freedom Center, said the activity was problematic because football practice is a school-sponsored activity, not a community event, even though it takes place after school.

If the church had rented the space or was allowed to use the space on the same basis as other community groups in non-school hours, then the church could have had a worship service or baptism on the field and students could participate, Haynes said.

In the past, Americans have tended to favor looser limits on religion in public schools. According to an August 2006 survey by the Pew Research Center, more than two-thirds of Americans agreed with the statement that “liberals have gone too far in trying to keep religion out of the schools and the government.”

From "School District Investigates After Mass Baptism Takes Place Before Football Practice at Villa Rica High School" by Leonardo Blair, Christian Post Reporter 9/3/15

Kevin Williams, the pastor of First Baptist Church and members of his congregation were involved in the baptisms which attracted a diverse group of about 75 people — they were reportedly all voluntary decisions.

"We never meant to cause any problems for the school and we never thought we would get this much media attention for baptizing kids," said Williams whose church has provided both spiritual and financial support to the school community.

He explained that the church recently held a football themed worship service called "Gridiron Day" and one of the coaches asked if he could be baptized on the football field. A number of players, who had recently converted to Christianity, he said, also asked to be baptized as well.

"It was their choice to do that," said Williams. "We live in a free nation. People choose what they want. These people that got baptized — freely chose at a church service to accept Christ and this was a follow up to that."

At the end of the school day somebody hauled out an old feeding trough, plopped it in the end zone near the field house and filled it with water.

A crowd of about 75 folks, black and white, young and old, gathered in the sweltering August heat to watch the coach take the Baptist plunge.

Perhaps inspired by their coach’s public display of his faith, some of the players also asked to be baptized. One by one the teenage boys stepped into the trough – as onlookers prayed and rejoiced and applauded.

The question is whether the atheist carpetbaggers will bully the school district into silencing people of faith.

Georgia Teacher Ousted—Taught Obama's Pro-abortion

Nancy Perry, a veteran teacher at Dublin (Georgia) Middle School, was forced to take early retirement because she informed students of President Obama's public support for abortion including his votes taken and speeches made, as an Illinois legislator, against the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act arguing in favor of infanticide.
"It is not the place of teachers to attempt to persuade students about religious or political beliefs."

The Dublin Courier Herald reported that city schools superintendent Chuck Ledbetter announced Nancy Perry has also been removed from the classroom for the rest of the year. A student’s parents spoke out after hearing that Perry told the class Obama is Muslim and Christians shouldn’t support him.

Perry’s husband is also a member of the city’s school board and attended a parent-teacher conference after the parents complained. Ledbetter says school principals are required to call the superintendent if any board member asks to sit in on parent-teacher meetings. Ledbetter says the district apologizes for the teacher’s husband appearing at the parent-teacher conference.

Ledbetter said Perry was already planning on retiring before a student's parents accused the teacher in March of telling her class Obama is Muslim and Christians shouldn't support him.

Jimmie Scott, the father who initially complained about Perry, addressed the community at the meeting, saying his family had been ridiculed and had racial slurs thrown at them. Scott is black and Perry is white.

"We've lost loved ones in the community because a line was drawn," Scott said. "Either you were for my son or you were for the teacher."

Scott said he immediately requested a parent-teacher conference to which Perry brought along her husband Bill, who sits on the county Board of Education.

Instead of discussing Nancy Perry's classroom comments, Scott says that she and her husband showed him what he described as internet propaganda.

Although Perry has said that she never made the comments, at the meeting, according to the NAACP, she “presented to the parents a packet of several pages from a website that expressed her views on religion and politics. … The parents’ concern was exacerbated by the teacher’s unwillingness to even consider the possibility that her classroom conduct was not conducive to a healthy learning environment.”

Atlanta Fires Fire Chief for 'Anti-gay' Bible Study

Kelvin J. Cochran, Fire Chief of Atlanta, Georgia, and former member of the Obama administration, has been (UPDATED) fired because he self-published a compilation of his Christian Bible studies on his own time last year.  The book includes God's definition of marriage and sexual sinfulness, which enraged a city council member who says he's a homosexual.
"[Cochran's Bible study] is inconsistent with the administration's work to make Atlanta a more welcoming city for all citizens . . ." the mayor said, as he denounced the fire chief — who IS a citizen — for stating his religious beliefs.

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed says in a statement Monday that Kelvin Cochran will be suspended for a month without pay and will be required to complete sensitivity training.

Reed says he was “deeply disturbed” after learning about the book on Friday and will not tolerate discrimination within his administration.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the book titled “Who Told You That You Are Naked?” identifies Cochran as a devout Christian and as the city’s fire chief. City councilmember Alex Wan, who is openly gay, says Reed should investigate whether Cochran’s views have affected LGBT employees.

Atlanta Fire Chief Kelvin Cochran has been suspended without pay for one month because of authoring a religious book in which he describes homosexuality as a “sexual perversion” akin to bestiality and pederasty.

Cochran has been ordered to undergo sensitivity training and has been barred from distributing copies of the book on city property after a number of firefighters said they received them in the workplace.

. . . Cochran said the book is a result of lesson plans he prepared for various men’s bible study groups.

Cochran describes himself in the book as a “devout Christian man” whose “greatest desire is to fulfill the purpose of God for his life and to be living proof of God’s exceeding great and precious promises.”

“Naked men refuse to give in, so they pursue sexual fulfillment through multiple partners, with the opposite sex, the same sex and sex outside of marriage and many other vile, vulgar and inappropriate ways which defile their body-temple and dishonor God,” writes Kelvin Cochran in the book, which is available online at Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

UPDATE 1/18/15: "Fired Atlanta fire chief speaks at Augusta church" by Lisa Kaylor, Staff Writer, The Augusta Chronicle

At Abilene Baptist Church on Sunday evening, Cochran spoke about the blessings of suffering he found through his own life story, and what he believes is God’s purpose for the controversy that surrounds his firing.

“I am not going through this because of something I have done,” he said. “I am going through this because of something that (God) is doing in the body of Christ and in my life.”

“That book is not about sexuality,” Cochran said. “But you can’t talk about Christian men overcoming the stronghold of condemnation unless you talk about sex, because men have a challenge in that area. You can’t talk about sex unless you talk about God’s purpose for sex, which was procreation, to multiply.”

“I believe God is going to use my life to demonstrate publicly the kingdom consequences for standing on his word and standing on the values that he has embraced in his holy book, the Holy Bible,” he said.

All Abortion Outlawed by Georgia City Council

Abortion advocates say that Roe v. Wade is being challenged by the city council of Rossville, Georgia because it voted unanimously on a first reading in favor of Ordinance #481 to ban all abortion except to save the life of the mother.  Rossville currently has no abortion clinics, but Mayor Teddy Harris said that the council is taking a proactive stance to keep the city peaceful.

-- From "Rossville bans abortion clinics, pill mills" by Hannah Smith, Chattanooga Times Free Press 11/11/14

In a work meeting before they would sign the ordinances, council members asked Rossville Mayor Teddy Harris what had prompted these two ordinances to come up. He said a town resident had come to him asking if the methadone clinic in the city was legal. That clinic is, but Harris said the question got him thinking about other businesses they might wish to keep outside of Rossville.

There is no abortion clinic in Rossville, and the ordinance does allow for abortions to occur within the city if they occur at a hospital by a licensed physician, are deemed by that doctor to be necessary to save the woman's life, and the doctor can certify that the baby would not survive out of the womb.

The same logic was used for why they want to keep pill mills out of the city. Pill mills are clinics that claim to be pain centers many times, but in reality illegally dispense controlled pain medications to those who may be addicted or do not have a prescription.

From "Rossville lawmakers rethink abortion ordinance" by Mike O’Neal, The Catoosa County News 11/16/14

As originally written, Rossville’s ordinance is more restrictive than state or federal law.

Rossville’s ordinance goes beyond state law by stating, in section 2(d):

“It shall not be unlawful for a licensed physician to prescribe that abortion services take place within the limits of the city of Rossville, provided that the physician finds the abortion services are necessary in order to save the life of the mother, the abortion services are per-formed in a hospital and the physician can certify that the unborn child would not be able to live outside of the womb.”

After questions about the legality of the council’s action were raised, mayor Teddy Harris said the ordinance is being reviewed and will be rewritten as necessary to comply with all state and federal statutes.

Georgia Football Monument Must Go, Atheists Demand

The Wisconsin-based Freedom From Religion Foundation told the Madison County High School in Danielsville, Georgia that a newly donated granite monument with Bible verses, placed near the football field, is unconstitutional.  Also the American Humanist Association has given the school a two-week demand that the monument either be defaced or removed entirely, otherwise they'll sue. Local residents overwhelmingly support the monument, but initial comments from school superintendent Allen McCannon have been vague.
