IL Girls School Basketball Controversy Harkens Homosexual Scandals
UPDATE 5/15/10: Exposing the leftist domination of our public schools
UPDATE 5/18/10: Indoctrination works - News reports of last night's Board meeting indicate only students support liberal administration; adults oppose. Read Chicago Tribune, and CBS-TV2, and WBBM Radio.
-- From "School Official in Basketball Flap Is No Stranger to Controversy" by Jana Winter, FOXNews.com 5/13/10
The school official who nixed a girls' high school basketball team's planned trip to Arizona once supported a controversial program that required ninth-graders to attend a “freshman advisory” class at which gay upperclassmen shared stories of their high school experiences.
Parents who were unhappy with the class were even more outraged to learn that students who attended were asked to sign a statement promising not to tell others -- including their parents -- about what was said in class.
Parents were not allowed to attend the panel discussions, leading some to call it an attempt to indoctrinate students into a homosexual lifestyle.
Suzan Hebson, assistant superintendent of Highland Park, Ill., School District 113, killed the hoop dreams of the Highland Park High School girls' basketball team this week when she canceled their plans to participate in a tournament in Arizona in December. The decision has some parents and residents of the district crying foul over what they say was a politically motivated protest over the Grand Canyon State's recently passed immigration law.
But Hebson is no stranger to controversy. She’s been criticized for making decisions based on politics numerous times in the past.

School Superintendent's Gay Agenda Exposed in Lawsuit
UPDATE 5/13/10: Superintendent embroiled again -- Girls Basketball
-- From "Lawsuit against District 113 rekindles debate on sexual tolerance" by Matt Kiefer, Deerfield Review, Sun-Times News Group 10/6/09
In recent weeks, new court filings have brought to light a bitter and long-standing struggle between educators preaching sexual tolerance and conservative activists who deem homosexuality immoral.
Lora Sue Hauser, a vocal critic of the district and its teaching of such works as last year's "Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes," filed a lawsuit in Cook County Court last month claiming Superintendent George Fornero and DHS technology director Andy Zakszeski spread rumors and false statements about her via e-mail.
The lawsuit includes e-mail exhibits where Fornero allegedly states Hauser's Deerfield home was foreclosed upon, that a picture of Adolf Hitler was later found inside the house, and that she belongs to a hate group. Zakszeski, according to the complaint, wrote a double-entendre involving Hauser and erotic acts.
Between November 2008 and January 2009, e-mail records show Fornero forwarding the message 10 times to 16 different people -- mostly teachers, administrators and School Board members -- with comments such as "FYI," "Enjoy!" and "Check out this e-mail!"
Hauser claims her home was never foreclosed upon, that she did not own a picture of Hitler and is "of Jewish descent."
In reply to another e-mail, Fornero allegedly writes, "While I'd be sympathetic to most anyone having financial difficulties & hate to see him lose his house, this case is different. Perhaps had they spent more time working & paying the mortgage instead of attacking us, they'd still own their home. Also, don't forget they had a picture of Hitler in the basement closet!"
In another e-mail exhibit, dated May 2008, Fornero speculates on School Board politics, writing to an unidentified recipient: "Things have quieted down for now. However, we need to be alert this fall when it's time to slate Board of Education candidates. That would be terrible if one of Lora Sue's group is nominated. I'll keep you posted."
In an April 2009 e-mail exhibit, Fornero writes to an unidentified recipient who is planning to attend a diversity conference: "Be sure to sit in the hate group section. Maybe loira sue [sic] can bring her pic of hitler."
Attorney Nancy Krent, who is representing the employees, said she is confident she can put up a successful defense.

Public Schools Education Replaced by Indoctrination
From "Censorship and Public Schools" by Laurie Higgins, posted 4/9/08 at Illinois Family Institute
I recently attended a town hall meeting during which an impassioned public debate ensued regarding the very controversial decision of our public high school superintendent and school board to permit the exceedingly obscene, pro-homosexual play Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes to be taught in some senior English classes.
During this debate, the issue of censorship was brought up several times, following which I made the point that if the community were genuinely concerned about censorship, they would be in high dudgeon about the pervasive censorship of conservative ideas and scholarship on the topic of homosexuality. I pointed out that in our school, students cannot make it through freshman year without being exposed to liberal views on sexual orientation, and yet they make it through all four years without ever being exposed to conservative scholarship on this topic.
Following the community discussion, I spoke with a high school student who was covering the story for the student newspaper. I asked her what her peers would think about the censorship of conservative ideas on this topic and was discouraged to learn that high school students would not be offended by this pervasive censorship because they view conservative thought as hateful.
That is tragic and frightening. It's tragic because these students have likely never read the ideas of conservative scholars. They have not read intelligent, compassionate, erudite arguments, and yet they've formed judgments. And it is frightening because it reveals a profound indifference to the process of intellectual inquiry which is essential to ascertaining truth and portends a future of disturbing ignorance.
Moreover, to censor the ideas of conservative intellectuals who are thinking deeply and writing intelligently, cogently, and eloquently is a pedagogical travesty and simply dangerous. Who decides which ideas embody truth and wisdom? Critical thinking cannot take place in an intellectual vacuum. And thoughtful, well-informed, challenging intellectual debate cannot take place without all positions being fairly presented. On the issue of sexual orientation, public schools are neither educating nor cultivating critical thinking. Activist ideologues are indoctrinating using the most superficial of ideas.

Deerfield High School: Who's to Blame for Teaching Porn?
Sources within Deerfield (IL) High School have indicated that, although District 113, Superintendent George Fornero claims that,
“The Board of Education, school administration, and the involved teacher are aware that Angels in America is a provocative work intended for mature and thoughtful readers and support Jeff Berger-White's decision to teach it..."In reality some in the administration were not aware that Angels in America was being taught, were not aware of its offensive content, and would not support its teaching. In fact, some administrators are angry at the implication that they would support such a text.
Dr. Fornero’s public statement (excerpted above) suggests that all administrators supported the teaching of this pernicious play. His comment fails to mention that some, perhaps many, administrators were excluded from this process, including even the English Department Chair, according to faculty sources. Those administrators who were excluded from the decision-making process and who find the teaching of this play reprehensible are now being portrayed by the Superintendent as having given their stamp of approval to its teaching.
As a result of the District's selective public statements, parents remain largely unaware of how many teachers in District 113 are angry about this indefensible decision but are afraid to speak out. Anyone who pays taxes, whether they have children in school right now or not, should be outraged and speak out now.
Here are some steps that parents and taxpayers can take to ascertain exactly where the blame lies for this unconscionable decision:
- Contact the administration and demand to know specifically who approved this decision, since many administrators were not included and likely would not have approved it. Demand to know names.
- Demand also to know the names of school board members who approved this decision.
- Ask for the names of administrators who were excluded from the decision-making process.
- Ask for the names of administrators who were included but did not approve.
- Ask which teacher has been teaching Angels in America for five years at Highland Park HS.
- Ask what year parental notification letters were first sent out to parents at HPHS and DHS.
- Ask what year an alternative text was formally made available to students at HPHS and DHS ("formally" means, rather than merely providing one after a parent on their own requested opting their child out).
Taxpayers are urged to forward answers to the above, as provided by the school(s), to feedback@culturecampaign.com

What Do a Black, Homosexual Drag Queen, a Gay Couple and an Angel with 8 V****as Have in Common?
From "Laurie Higgins Summarizes Kuschner's Debauched 'Angels in America'" by Laurie Higgins, posted 8/23/07 at Americans for Truth
Angels in America is filled with obscenity, primarily forms of f**k. And although it addresses forgiveness (albeit not in a Christian sense, but rather, interpersonal forgiveness), compassion, community, and AIDS, it is primarily a pro-”gay” treatise with heavy-handed leftist politicking (e.g., explicit criticism of the Reagan administration) and sacrilege.
The plot revolves around two couples: married Mormon couple Harper and Joe whose marriage is disintegrating in large measure due to Joe’s repressed homosexuality, which he eventually acts upon: and a homosexual couple, Louis and Prior, who has AIDS. Louis leaves Prior due to his AIDS and has a month-long affair with Harper’s husband Joe. Roy Cohn — the infamous, unscrupulous, foul-mouthed, closeted, Republican lawyer — is also a central character who dies of AIDS.
...Now isn’t that edifying for students?
