The just-released U.S. Census figures show a precipitous drop in African Americans in many American cities, confirming the phenomenon of "black genocide" committed by the abortion industry. Media "political correctness" seeks non-abortion explanations for the disappearing black population in cities.
The African-American growth rate has dropped from over 16% in the 1990s to about 10% since 2000.

-- From "[New York] City Population Barely Grew in the ’00s, Census Finds" by Sam Roberts, New York Times 3/24/11
For the first time since the draft riots during the Civil War, the number of black New Yorkers has declined, by 5 percent. Non-Hispanic blacks now account for 23 percent of New Yorkers.
The number of Asians increased 32 percent since 2000, passing the one million mark and now constituting 13 percent of the population.
The Hispanic population rose 8 percent and now makes up 29 percent of the total.

From "Black populations fall in major cities" by Haya El Nasser, USA TODAY 3/22/11
The black population is declining in a growing number of major cities — more evidence that the settlement pattern of African Americans is changing as they disperse to suburbia and warmer parts of the nation.
2010 Census data released so far this year show that 20 of the 25 cities that have at least 250,000 people and a 20% black population either lost more blacks or gained fewer in the past decade than during the 1990s. The declines happened in some traditional black strongholds: Chicago, Oakland, Atlanta, Cleveland and St. Louis.
The drop also can be partially attributed to a declining black fertility rate and the aging of the black population, says John Logan, director of US 2010 Project at Brown University, which studies trends in American society. "We're starting to see the graying not only of the white population but of the black population," he says.

The new [census] data will include information on the racial and ethnic makeup of the District [of Columbia]. D.C. officials say they expect the count will show a continued shrinking number of African Americans, to just over half the District’s 600,000 residents. Many demographers predict that by the next census, the District will no longer have a black majority.

The mother of birth control and Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger, was an avowed atheist, Socialist and a proponent of negative eugenics.
Sanger wrote in What Every Boy and Girl Should Know (1915), “It is a vicious cycle; ignorance breeds poverty and poverty breeds ignorance. There is only one cure for both, and that is to stop breeding these things.
“Stop bringing to birth children whose inheritance cannot be one of health or intelligence. Stop bringing into the world children whose parents cannot provide for them.”
She wrote further, in "Birth Control and Racial Betterment" (The Birth Control Review), “We maintain that a woman possessing an adequate knowledge of her reproductive functions is the best judge of the time and conditions under which her child should be brought into the world… it is her right, regardless of all other considerations, to determine whether she shall bear children or not, and how many children she shall bear if she chooses to become a mother....”
Since the first “family planning” clinic was opened in Harlem in 1930, there have been “more than 820 health centers around the country,” according to Planned Parenthood’s website. With most of the health centers located in black communities, abortion has become the number-one killer of blacks.

Choosing Lesbian Sex in College: Fed Study
10% of college women, and 13% of other women had intimate relations with another woman, says the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), pointing to lesbianism as a choice, rather than a predetermined genetic trait, as popularly claimed by homosexualists.
-- From "For Women, Same-Sex Experimentation In College A Myth" posted at Huffington Post 3/18/11
Between 2006 and 2008, the [CDC] study's authors asked 13,495 individuals aged 15 to 44 to answer a number of questions about their sexual habits and found that while 9.9 percent of college-educated women said they'd had a sexual experience with a female, 14 to 15 percent of women without a college degree said the same. According to the New York Times, only 1 percent of the 13 percent who reported having had same-sex encounters identified as homosexual, and only 4 percent as bisexual.
The study shows that although educational differences in same sex experience for males were less pronounced than for females, men with some college were nearly 3 percent more likely than men with no college to have had a sexual encounter with another male, and that women are almost twice as likely as men to have had same-sex encounters.

For years, sex researchers, campus women's centers and the media have viewed college as a place where young women explore their sexuality, test boundaries, and, often, have their first, and only lesbian relationship.
The study also showed that women with four or more sexual partners in their lifetime were more likely to have had a female sexual partner, compared with women who had had no male partners or women who've had only one male partner.
Anjani Chandra, a health scientist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Health Statistics said:
"There was speculation that it was possibly just experimentation among college girls but we didn't see anything to support that. We saw the opposite. When we look at college degreed women, they were less likely to report same-sex activity than other educational groups. Among men, there's more same sex activity among higher educated men. And for women, the highest level of same-sex activity was reported by those with less education."

Six percent of college-educated women reported oral sex with a same-sex partner, compared with 13 percent who did not complete high school.

In the past, she said, a women with a single homosexual relationship would have been labeled gay, and urged to accept that identity. But now there is a growing sense that a lesbian relationship need not define a woman.

IL Teacher Challenges Darwin - NOT Fired
A Chicago-area atheist, famous for fighting Christians in court, created a public spectacle over a science teacher who drifted from Darwinist dogma by encouraging students to study evolution critically, from a scientific viewpoint.

A Libertyville High School science teacher who referenced creationism in a biology class will not be fired, school officials announced Tuesday night.
Teacher Beau Schaefer, described as a "longstanding District 128 educator," discussed creationism in a classroom lesson about evolution, officials said, but he has been instructed not to do so in the future and he will not lose his job.
In a statement read at school board meeting Tuesday, Libertyville Supt. Prentiss Lea said "the United States Supreme Court and several other federal court decisions have found that creationism may not be referenced or taught in public school science classrooms."
Lea said the teacher "cooperated fully" with officials investigating the allegations, and he has been told not to discuss creationism in the future.

Not everyone was opposed to the teaching of creationism though. Greg and Kathy Krause, parents of students in the district, said they have no problem with the mention of creationism in the classroom. They also wanted to support the teacher, Beau Schaefer.
"If it's presented, they (the students) can make their own decision," said Kathy Krause. "Why can't they make their own decision? What is the big fear? ... I guess the bottom line is God's bigger than the school, he'll get through."
One student in Schaefer's class, who wished not to be identified, said Schaefer explained creationism only as a theory, not a scientific theory.
"Mr. Schaefer is my teacher and I don't think it's right that people should be mad at him," the student said, adding she did not want to see him lose his job.

Community High School District 128 administrators were responding to comments during a recent school board meeting, where Buffalo Grove-based activist Rob Sherman said he had been contacted by a student's older sibling. The student had complained that a biology and human genetics teacher, Beau Schaefer, had been promoting creationist beliefs and attempting to discredit evolution, Sherman said.
"A teacher is teaching that creationism and intelligent design is more relevant than evolution," Sherman said. "You cannot compare and contrast creationism and evolution in a public classroom. If the facts bear out that he is teaching this, I'm asking you to determine the appropriate response. Maybe you need to get someone else in there to 'un-teach' everything Mr. Schaefer has taught them."
Sherman, who is also working to garner support for a state law repealing the required moment of silence in public schools, said he raised the issue in District 128 out of the concern that young minds may be influenced by an authority figure.

Christians Becoming Extinct in 9 Western Nations
Researchers of the American Physical Society have released a census study of over 100 years of data showing that Australia, Austria, Canada, the Czech Republic, Finland, Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand and Switzerland will be void of Christians.
UPDATE 12/30/12: Christians, Extinct in Middle East, as Islam Wins
-- From "Faith no more! From New Zealand to Canada, religion 'to become extinct' in nine countries" by U.K. Daily Mail Reporter 3/22/11
The study was carried out by Northwestern University and the University of Arizona.
Richard Wiener, of the Research Corporation for Science Advancement, led the scientific survey.
He said: 'In a large number of modern secular democracies, there's been a trend that folk are identifying themselves as non-affiliated with religion.
'In the Netherlands the number was 40%, and the highest we saw was in the Czech Republic, where the number was 60%.'

From "Religion may become extinct in nine nations, study says" by Jason Palmer, Science and technology reporter, BBC News, Dallas 3/22/11
The team's mathematical model attempts to account for the interplay between the number of religious respondents and the social motives behind being one.
Nonlinear dynamics is invoked to explain a wide range of physical phenomena in which a number of factors play a part.
[Richard Wiener said,] "It posits that social groups that have more members are going to be more attractive to join, and it posits that social groups have a social status or utility.
"For example in languages, there can be greater utility or status in speaking Spanish instead of [the dying language] Quechuan in Peru, and similarly there's some kind of status or utility in being a member of a religion or not."

From "God keep our land? The numbers raise doubts" by Frank Appleyard, Postmedia News, posted at the Montreal Gazette 3/22/11
The study attempted to link these countries' religious identities with the social motives behind belonging to particular groups. Researchers said that as the masses who claim religious non-affiliation swell, it becomes more appealing to join the ranks of that group.
Weiner speculated that social pressures are contributing to the decline in religious identification in these countries. "People no longer see the slate of benefits as being as great as they probably did 100 years ago. It's become less socially useful."
In the Netherlands, where close to 50 per cent of the population identifies as not belonging to a religion, Weiner said they found that by mid-century close to 70 per cent of the country will be made up of non-believers.
"That's very substantial growth over four decades," Weiner said. "It's not saying that religion will not exist, but it will very strongly change the makeup of society. Maybe in 100 years in some of these countries if this trend continues, there will be a very small percentage of people that still identify themselves as belonging to a religion."

Obama, Brazil Push Gay Agenda on World
The president of Brazil joined President Obama in calling for special recognition of, and greater tolerance for sexual deviancy, saying they'll work within the Organization of American States (OAS).

The issue of gay rights has polarized nations at the U.N. for years. And despite growing acceptance for homosexuality in Western nations and parts of Latin America, lawyers say there is still a gap in human rights treaties for the protection of gays against discrimination and mistreatment.
Obama has stepped up the case for gay rights in recent months, winning a congressional vote to repeal the "don't ask, don't tell" ban on gays serving openly in the U.S. military and urging last weekend in a joint statement with the Brazilian president for the establishment of a special investigator to monitor respect for lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender individuals in the Western Hemisphere.
Under the Bush administration, the U.S. policy was markedly different. The administration didn't support a French resolution at the U.N. General Assembly in 2008 that addressed similar concerns, joining Russia, China, the Vatican and Islamic states in opposition. The U.S. explained its position at the time in technical terms, saying it was fearful of language that would infringe on the right of American states to legislate matters such as gay marriage.

On Tuesday, the United States joined 84 other countries at the United Nations Human Rights Council in a joint commitment to end acts of violence and human rights abuses on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.
The joint statement produced by the Human Rights Council – a body dominated by Islamic nations and their allies -- did not come easily. “Over the past months our diplomats have been engaged in frank, and at times difficult, conversations about the human rights of LGBT persons with governments from around world,” the White House noted.
The HRC’s joint statement itself alludes to difficulties: “We acknowledge that these are sensitive issues for many, including in our own societies. We affirm the importance of respectful dialogue, and trust that there is common ground in our shared recognition that no-one should face stigmatisation, violence or abuse on any ground. In dealing with sensitive issues, the Council must be guided by the principles of universality and non-discrimination,” the statement reads.

Abortion Clinics Closing in San Fran. - Short Money
In just the past few months, several Bay Area so-called health clinics have closed entirely, while others are regrouping to keep the doors open, as funding dries up.
-- From "SF community health clinics forced to merge, close" by Victoria Colliver, San Francisco Chronicle Staff Writer 3/20/11
Planned Parenthood, Haight Ashbury Free Clinics and Lyon-Martin Health Services are just some of the San Francisco centers involved in the shakeup. Many of these clinics are getting squeezed by funding cuts from private and public sources while demand for their services from increasing numbers of uninsured patients is rising.
Major changes in the health clinics started last fall when the local Planned Parenthood affiliate lost the right to use the name because of its financial problems, a decision that left San Francisco, San Mateo, Marin, Sonoma and Alameda counties without any Planned Parenthood clinics for several months.
Lyon-Martin Health Services, which serves transgender people and women in San Francisco, has been teetering on the brink of closure for months and recently hired a new interim director to try to turn things around.
New Leaf, another center serving lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender residents in San Francisco, closed in October after being hit with increased rent and health care costs. It provided mainly mental health, substance abuse and HIV/AIDS services.

Golden Gate Health Community (GGCH), a former Planned Parenthood affiliate and major provider of abortion services in the San Francisco Bay Area, will close all of its facilities this month.
The organization, which was formerly known as Planned Parenthood of Golden Gate, changed its name last year when it lost its affiliation with Planned Parenthood amid suspicions of financial mismanagement.
As a Planned Parenthood affiliate, the group made headlines in 2003 when it was implicated in the death of 18-year-old Holly Patterson, who died of septic shock after taking the RU-486 abortion drug. After experiencing severe cramping, bleeding, and vomiting, Patterson was initially told by the clinic to take more painkillers. She was eventually hospitalized and died three days later.
The organization has also drawn attention for its controversial advertisements mocking religion and depicting pro-life demonstrators being shot by a “superhero for choice,” and for its role in defeating California ballot initiatives requiring parental notification for abortions performed on minors.

From "Planned Parenthood’s ex-affiliate in San Francisco goes belly up" posted at California Catholic Daily 3/3/11
“Golden Gate Community Health, formerly known as Planned Parenthood Golden Gate, closed its operations on February 28, 2011 after almost 90 years of service to the Bay Area,” said a March 1 news release from the organization. “Golden Gate Community Health operated health centers in Alameda, San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin Counties. The closing was caused, in part, by delays in State patient reimbursements and diminished donor support.”
When its former affiliate renamed itself and continued operating under the name Golden Gate Community Health, it set up a showdown with Planned Parenthood for millions of dollars in state and federal funding. Planned Parenthood divided up Golden Gate’s former territory between Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, based in San Jose, and Planned Parenthood Shasta Pacific, based in Concord. Part of Planned Parenthood Shasta Pacific’s new territory included San Francisco. Planned Parenthood Mar Monte expanded Planned Parenthood operations into Alameda and San Mateo counties, also once a part of Planned Parenthood Golden Gate’s turf.

From "Ex-Planned Parenthood abortion clinic network in San Francisco now closing its doors" by Christine Dhanagom, LifeSiteNews.com 3/3/11

Polygamy a Civil Right: Canadian Court Case
Americans watch Canada to see what comes down the pike after society accepts and legalizes same-sex 'marriage.'
For background, read Courts May Legalize Polygamy in Canada
UPDATE 11/24/11: British Columbia Supreme Court upholds Canada's polygamy law, making multiple marriages illegal
UPDATE 4/1/11: Same-sex marriage laws limits union to only two persons?
-- From "Civil liberties group supports B.C. polygamists" posted at Vancouver Sun 3/18/11
Canada's anti-polygamy law offends fundamental freedoms protected by the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, argues the B.C. Civil Liberties Association.
"This law is a Victorian statute," BCCLA lawyer Monique Pongracic-Speier said in a written statement. "It is time for it to be relegated to the scrap heap of history. It invites the state to inspect the bedrooms — and kitchens and living rooms — of consenting adults who find fulfilment in plural relationships. It erodes the dignity of people involved in those relationships and denies them the privacy that is available to couples and monogamous families."
"The BCCLA argues that individuals should be free to make the life choices they wish so long as those choices do not harm other people and they engage in them with free, informed and full consent," Pongracic-Speier said in a press release. "By intruding into adults' decisions about the form of conjugal relationship that best meets their personal needs and aspirations, the law overextends the reach of the criminal law into individuals' private lives, intruding into their most private relationships."

From "B.C. polygamists win support of civil rights group" posted at The Canadian Press 3/18/11
Final arguments in the case will begin later this month in B.C. Supreme Court, which has heard months of testimony both for and against upholding the federal law, including conflicting expert testimony about whether the practice of multiple marriage is inherently harmful to women and children.
Written arguments have already been filed by several interveners in the case, as well as the federal and provincial governments.
Both levels of government are defending the law, arguing polygamy is inherently harmful and must be kept illegal. They've alleged multiple marriage inevitably leads to sexual and physical abuse, child brides, teen pregnancies and the trafficking of young girls to be married.

Texas Bill to Protect Non-Darwinists from Discrimination
A new Texas bill would make it illegal for colleges to fire or refuse jobs to professors based on their research on intelligent design or other theories on the origin of life that question evolution.
Such discrimination has been admitted in several cases, including where the University of Kentucky Wouldn't Hire Christians as Scientists
-- From "Arlington lawmaker's bill would protect questioners of evolution" by Aman Batheja, Fort Worth Star-Telegram 3/17/11
The measure from Republican state Rep. Bill Zedler would block higher education institutions from discriminating against or penalizing teachers or students based on their research into intelligent design or other theories that disagree with evolution.
Zedler said he filed the bill because of cases in which colleges had been hostile to those who believe that certain features of life-forms are so complex that they must have originated from a higher power.
Zedler said fear of workplace discrimination is preventing evolution critics in colleges from speaking their minds.

From "Texas Bill Would Protect College Professors Who Question Evolution" by Katherine T. Phan, Christian Post Reporter 3/19/11
The bill, HB 2454, was received by the Higher Education Committee earlier this week.
Researchers who study intelligent design [ID] deserve the same academic freedom as those who support evolution, said a spokesman for Discovery Institute, an intelligent design think tank based in Seattle, Wash.
"Without academic freedom to follow the evidence where it leads, science cannot progress," Casey Luskin, program officer in Public Policy and Legal Affairs at Discovery Institute, told The Christian Post.
In 2007, Baylor University shut down an evolutionary informatics lab by professor Robert Marks after administrators learned he was doing pro-ID research. The lab was forced to move from the university server to a third-party server. The incident was documented in Ben Stein's "Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed."
Another incident at Baylor a few years ago involved the Michael Polanyi Center, considered to be the first intelligent design think tank at a major research university. Headed by leading ID-theorist William Dembski, a senior fellow of Discovery Institute's Center for Science and Culture, the center was also shut down due to intolerance of the pro-ID viewpoint.

Media See Pro-lifers Gaining on Abortionists
Much to the dismay of the liberal media, the pro-life movement, which has been gaining the favor of Americans for many years, is now barreling over Planned Parenthood and other abortionists in federal and state governments, with solid backing in public opinion.
-- From "Vital Signs: Anti-abortion groups step up attack on Planned Parenthood with Madison billboard" by Shawn Doherty, The Capital Times 3/15/11
Pro-Life Wisconsin has teamed up with [The Radiance Foundation,] a national anti-abortion campaign to put up a billboard near a Madison Planned Parenthood clinic today.
Pro-Life Wisconsin opposes sex education and the use of all forms of contraception. The group has been invigorated by the Republican charge in Wisconsin to defund and shut down various family planning programs across the state. The Governor's budget includes significant funding cuts and the elimination of some of these programs.
The billboard is just a small example of what has been a ferocious attack, even including undercover sting operations, by anti-abortion activists against Planned Parenthood clinics across the country.

From "Wisconsin Billboard Exposes Planned Parenthood, Racial Abortions" by Steven Ertelt, LifeNews.com 3/14/11
The first billboard is located in Madison, Wisconsin, just down the street from a Planned Parenthood clinic recently opened in a black and Hispanic neighborhood. The billboard/web campaign exposes how the nation’s largest abortion chain proves its staunch pro-abortion position to the near exclusion of any other choice, Ryan Bomberger of the Radiance Foundation tells LifeNews.com.
He notes that in its own 2009 Services Report, Planned Parenthood did 332,278 abortions, continuing an annual upward trend while only providing prenatal care to 7,021 women and making a mere 977 adoption referrals — or 340 abortions for every one adoption referral.
Planned Parenthood received $363.2 million in taxpayers’ money, a third of its annual budget, regardless of its continued failure to affect the national “unintended” pregnancy rate,” Bomberger complains. According to the CDC, this rate has remained unchanged since 1995.

Bestiality: Tolerance for This Also?

-- From "Sheriff says Craigslist facilitates bestiality" by Jerry Seper, The Washington Times 3/16/11
America’s self-described toughest sheriff has issued a warning to the CEO of Craigslist saying the popular Internet website is providing a “mechanism to facilitate criminal activity.”
Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s warning to [CEO] Jim Buckmaster follows the arrest last month in Arizona by Maricopa County Sheriff's Office detectives of two men — one a middle school teacher and the other a handyman — on charges of conspiracy to commit bestiality.
Sheriff Arpaio said an undercover investigation by his office began after detectives became aware that persons in the Phoenix area were using Craigslist to engage in illegal acts with animals. Detectives set up meetings through computer communications where the suspects believed they were meeting animal owners at a hotel.
Although bestiality may not be illegal in other states, the sheriff was instrumental in making the offense a crime in Arizona in 2006.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio of the southern Arizona county is no stranger to controversy. He has been at the center of federal investigations into his alleged abuse of power and use of racial-profiling to earn himself the self-described title of America’s toughest sheriff.
But Wednesday Arpaio turned the investigation onto the San Francisco-based Craigslist and gave a harsh warning to CEO Jim Buckmaster.
Arpaio said his office . . . found that this case was not isolated. That other people looking to engage in bestiality used Craigslist and a secret language even existed amongst these people.
Craigslist is of course no stranger to controversy. The site came under fire for its adult services section, which it was forced to censor after pressure from numerous states to discontinue the service.

Homosexual 'Marriage' Not Enough; Next Goal
Now that same-sex 'marriage' is law in ten countries, 'homosexual rights' groups say that such legally-mandated tolerance is not adequate and are focused on the next goal:

The first same-sex marriages took place in the Netherlands on April 1, 2001. The countries that followed were Belgium, Spain, Canada, South Africa, Norway, Sweden, Portugal, Iceland and Argentina.

But "legalization does not end discrimination, either by officials or other people," he added.
Human Rights Watch surveyed gay rights groups in the 10 countries with legalized marriage on their next goals.
"In most of the countries, the right of transgender people to be recognized before the law without having to undergo non-reversible sterilization is a high priority," Dittrich said, as is stopping hate violence.

Many other countries have legislation that recognizes same-sex relationships in the form of civil unions or registered partnerships. In these cases, people in same-sex relationships have many of the same rights as married couples. However, civil marriage in these countries is reserved for different sex couples and not open to same-sex couples.

Ban 'Day of Prayer' in Arizona: Atheist Lawsuit
A Wisconsin-based group is suing Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer, contending it was an unconstitutional promotion of religion for her to proclaim last May 6 as a "day of prayer."
UPDATE 1/5/12: After losing in federal court, atheists file new lawsuit in state court
-- From "Lawsuit challenges Arizona 'Day of Prayer'" by The Associated Press 3/16/11
The lawsuit was filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Phoenix by the Freedom from Religion Foundation of Madison on behalf of four individuals identified of nonbelievers in religion.
It asks that Brewer's 2010 proclamation be overturned and that she be barred from issuing a similar one this year.
Brewer spokesman Matt Benson says proclaiming a day of prayer is an American tradition dating back to George Washington's presidency and that the governor is confident her actions are within constitutional bounds.

"The First Amendment says you can't prohibit the free exercise of religion," said Cathi Herrod, president of the Center for Arizona Policy. And Herrod, who also is an attorney, called the concept of a separation of church and state "a fallacy."
Brett Harvey, senior legal counsel to the Scottsdale-based Alliance Defense Fund, said what Brewer -- and others -- have done with these declaration is legal.
"It is perfectly acceptable for politicians and for public officials to recognize the religious heritage of this country," he said. And Harvey said the U.S. Supreme Court has even upheld things like prayers to open meetings and swear in public officials.
There is little chance that U.S. District Court Judge Roslyn Silver will have a hearing on the matter before this year's proclamation is issued.

Bible Terminology Banned at Missouri School
A middle school student was booted from class for a Christian T-shirt printed with "Jesus" and "Hell," yet every year, schools across America allow, and even encourage, homosexualists to promote deviant sexual behavior on "The Day of Silence."
-- From "Student removed from class over T-shirt" by Elizabethe Holland, St. Louis Post-Dispatch 3/18/11
A North Kirkwood Middle School student was pulled out of class and sent to the guidance office Wednesday for wearing a T-shirt the school deemed offensive and against school policy.
Michelle Ramirez wore a T-shirt with the words, "Jesus, He scares the hell out of you."
Kirkwood School District spokeswoman Ginger Fletcher said Thursday that the word "hell" was viewed as a profanity. Fletcher said that when students come to school in such clothing, they are asked to turn the clothing inside out, cover it with a sweatshirt or change into different clothing.

Principal Ginger Fletcher says, "Outside the school environment, it might be fine. But, anything within the school that is inappropriate, vulgar use of language might create a disruption in the school, we'll ask the student to modify the garment."
I got on the phone with Michelle, I told Michelle, ‘If you feel convicted to wear the shirt, you go ahead and put it back on'" said Michelle's Mom, Christina.
Michelle did change back and was separated from her classes to do her work elsewhere.
"It's federal law that you cannot ask a student to remove an emblem, insignia, or garment including a religious emblem. So, unless it is worn in an inappropriate manner, or creates a disruption within the school," Christina explained.
Michelle got the shirt from her youth group that specializes in extreme messages to promote their beliefs. She says she has worn the shirt to school about 30 times without a problem.

Liberal Media Use Heretic to Counter Christ
Rob Bell of the "emergent church" movement is finally being fully exposed as a "wolf in sheep's clothing" and the liberal media just can't get enough of him.
For background, read Heretical Preacher Embraced by Liberal Media
-- From "'Love Wins': Pastor's book kindles firestorm over hell" by Cathy Lynn Grossman, USA TODAY 3/14/11
Bell's new book, Love Wins: A Book About Heaven, Hell, and the Fate of Every Person Who Ever Lived, has provoked weeks of fierce infighting among pastors, theologians and anyone else who scans the Christian blogosphere where critics rage that he's a hipster heretic.
But Richard Mouw, president of the world's largest Protestant [liberal] seminary, Fuller Theological Seminary based in Pasadena, Calif., calls Love Wins "a great book, well within the bounds of orthodox Christianity and passionate about Jesus.
In Love Wins, which arrives in stores Tuesday, Bell claims:
• Heaven and hell are choices we make and live with right now. "God gives us what we want," including the freedom to live apart from God (hell) or turn God's way (heaven).
• Death doesn't cut off the ability to repent. In his Bible, Bell sees no "infinite, eternal torment for things (people) did in their few finite years of life."
• Jesus makes salvation possible even for people who never know his name. "We have to allow for mystery," for people who "drink from the rock" of faith "without knowing who or what it was."
• Churches that don't allow for this are "misguided and toxic."
Small wonder that traditionalists call him a false teacher of a Jesus-optional Gospel, leading innocents to damnation and a traitor to the evangelical label.

"What you've done is you're amending the Gospel -- the Christian message -- so that it's palatable to contemporary people who find, for example, the idea of hell and heaven very difficult to stomach ... That's why you've done, isn't it?" [MSNBC reporter Martin] Bashir asks Bell at one point.
At another point, Bashir asks Bell if it is "irrelevant" for someone to follow Christ in this life if -- as Bell argues -- non-Christians will be saved anyway.
Bell's evasive answers to questions have frustrated Christian leaders. Even in the interview, he denies he is a universalist, and then proceeds to make universalistic arguments.

Something strange has happened in evangelical churches over the past generation. Not in every congregation, but in the main, sermons devoted to the grim prospect of hell have become rare, and even talk of heaven is muted.
. . . So is Mr. Bell one more Christian liberal describing God as a mountain you can climb any way you want? Not exactly.
. . . anyone who carefully reads "Love Wins" will see that Mr. Bell is not a universalist. As C.S. Lewis did, he suggests that God grants free will to all, including those who do not want his divine company and therefore choose damnation.
Still, the account of heaven and hell that he rejects does sound a lot like what most Christians have taught and been taught for 2,000 years . . .

From "Rob Bell and the (re)emergence of liberal theology" by R. Albert Mohler Jr., President of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary 3/16/11
For the last 20 years or so, a movement identified as emerging or emergent Christianity has done its determined best to avoid speaking with specificity. Leading figures in the movement have offered trenchant criticisms of mainstream evangelicalism. Most pointedly, they have accused evangelical Christianity, variously, as being excessively concerned with doctrine, culturally tone-deaf, overly propositional, unnecessarily offensive, aesthetically malnourished, and basically uncool.
And yet, even as many of these [emerging/emergent] leaders insisted that they remained within the evangelical circle, it was clear that many were moving into a post-evangelical posture. There were early hints that the direction of the movement was toward theological liberalism and radical revisionism, but the predominant mode of their argument was suggestion, rather than assertion.
Rather than make a clear theological or doctrinal assertion, emerging figures generally raise questions and offer suggestive comments. Influenced by postmodern narrative theories, most within the movement lean into story rather than formal argument. Nevertheless, the general direction seemed clear enough. The leading emerging church figures appeared to be pushing Protestant liberalism -- just about a century late.
. . . Rob Bell uses his incredible power of literary skill and communication to unravel the Bible's message and to cast doubt on its teachings.
Bell clearly prefers inclusivism, the belief that Christ is saving humanity through means other than the Gospel, including other religions. But he mixes up his story along the way, appearing to argue for outright universalism on some pages, but backing off of a full affirmation. He rejects the belief that conscious faith in Christ is necessary for salvation, but he never clearly lands on a specific account of what he does believe.
. . . Yes, we have read this book before. With Love Wins, Rob Bell moves solidly within the world of Protestant liberalism. His message is a liberalism arriving late on the scene. Tragically, his message will confuse many believers as well as countless unbelievers.

No More Strip-Searches of Pro-lifers in Maryland
At least one local government in Maryland will no longer shackle and strip-search demonstrators, now that Harford County has agreed to a settlement in a First Amendment lawsuit brought by Defend Life.
For background, read Maryland Pro-life Protesters Arrested for Loitering
-- From "County Settles Lawsuit With Anti-Abortion Group" posted at WBAL TV-11 Baltimore 3/7/11
Members of Defend Life were arrested by the Maryland State Police on Aug. 1, 2008, along Route 24 in Bel Air. The group was on its Face the Truth Tour in which it used graphic roadside posters depicting aborted babies.
The group admitted its methods may be shocking but said they have the right to protest and filed suit in federal court for a violation of their First Amendment rights.
When the lawsuit was originally filed, one of the women in the group said she was imprisoned, shackled and strip-searched twice.

While court action is still pending against state and town police, Harford County has agreed to adopt a new county policy on how it conducts searches at its jail and to confidential settlements with eight of 18 people arrested in a 2008 anti-abortion protest.
Federal civil suits were filed last year against Harford County, the state police and Bel Air Police, complaining that the arrests were unnecessary and the group had a right to demonstrate based on the First Amendment.

In January, the Fourth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals rejected an appeal taken by defendant police officers in a suit brought by Defend Life . . . The court granted a motion to dismiss the appeal filed by Thomas More Society’s special counsel.
The American Catholic Lawyer’s Association along with special counsel from the Thomas More Society are aggressively continuing forward with its lawsuit against the Maryland State Police and the town of Bel Air.
Motions to dismiss the entire lawsuit filed by the Town of Bel Air, Bel Air police officers, the Maryland State Police Superintendent and state police troopers were denied in May of 2010. Some of those defendants filed an immediate appeal, arguing that police acted in good faith and were therefore immune from suit.
The county initially announced the settlement in December but not all of the plaintiffs in the case signed the settlement. Today’s announcements indicates that has happened.

According to the claim filed on behalf of about 18 pro-life protesters, authorities violated the U.S. Constitution when they first ordered the protesters off of county property, then later when protesters complied and moved to city property, swooped down on them in seven police cars, shackled, strip-searched and jailed them.
The agreement provides for the county and several individuals to be dismissed as defendants based on the promised change in policy. Claims against other defendants remain.

Masturbation Legislation in Illinois Senate
While the latest government studies show that abstinence education is effective with children, controlling liberals in Illinois plan to scrap the state's long-standing abstinence-until-marriage education, in favor of explicit sex training/instruction.
UPDATE 3/22/11: Sex education curriculum details
-- From "Bill Status of SB1619" 97th Illinois General Assembly, 3/15/11
The "Personal Responsibility Education Program Act" (SB 1619) passed out of the Senate Public Health Committee by a 6-4 party-line vote. The bill has been "placed on Calendar Order of 2nd Reading March 16, 2011" (on the Senate floor).
From "Sex-Ed Bill in Springfield Would Outlaw Abstinence Programs" by Ralph Rivera, Lobbyst, Illinois Family Institute 3/5/11
SB 1619 mandates that all elementary and secondary public schools that offer sex education or sexual health education programs must choose only programs from a list of curricula approved by the Illinois Department of Human Services. The [effect] of this would be to shut out all abstinence education programs that focus on abstaining from sex until marriage . . .
The only approved curricula would be so-called "comprehensive sex education" programs which include condom-training, teaching "tolerance"(i.e. approval) of homosexual lifestyles; various ways of sexual self-gratification; condom usage; information on how to be close to a person without having intercourse, including "body massage, bathing together, masturbation, sensuous feeding, fantasizing, watching erotic movies, and reading erotic books and magazines [from Focus on Kids - ages 9-15]." Another program for adolescents, "Be Proud Be Responsible," states, "Go to the store together. Buy lots of different brands and colors [of condoms]. Plan a special day when you can experiment. Just talking about how you'll use all of those condoms can be a turn on."
SB 1619 states that approved curricula must be "medically accurate and developmentally and age appropriate." It also states that "medically accurate" means "verified or supported by the weight of research conducted in compliance with accepted scientific methods and published in peer-reviewed journals...or comprising information that leading professional organizations [like Planned Parenthood's Alan Guttmacher Institute]...." Despite the fact that abstinence education programs are both medically accurate and supported by sound research, the pro-comprehensive sex ed proponents reject them for ideological reasons, and it is their voices that the Department of Human Services will hear.
SB 1619 also states that program "instruction must be free from bias in accordance with the Illinois Human Rights Act." Thus, the approved programs will be those that focus on "tolerance," that is, approval, of homosexuality -- one of the bases for a protected class in the Illinois Human Rights Act.
The bill also removes "until marriage" in the requirement that all sex education courses teach "abstinence until marriage" . . . since homosexuals in Illinois cannot marry marriages, some argue that teaching abstinence until marriage is "discriminatory" and in violation of the Illinois Human Rights Act.

Illinois Abortion Safety Law Moves in House
Illinois downstate conservative Democrat and Republican committee members unanimously passed a bill to the full House that would require any clinic performing more than 50 abortions per year to comply with safer hospital standards.

UPDATE 5/10/11: Controlled by liberals, Illinois pro-life legislation has no chance
-- From "Ill. bill would require abortion facility upgrades" by The Associated Press 3/15/11
Ill. Legislation requiring Illinois abortion clinics to meet the same standards as hospital surgical facilities is headed to the House floor.
The bill's backers say more must be done to make sure all clinics that perform abortions are as safe as possible.
Opponents say state health law already covers abortion clinics and recognizes that they are different from full-scale operating rooms.

House Bill 3156, which passed unanimously out of committee, would require abortion clinics comply with the same regulations as outpatient surgical clinics.
House Bill 2093 would require licensed personnel who work in abortion clinics, such as doctors and nurses, to report any suspected child abuse to the Department of Children and Family Services.
Rep. Brandon Phelps, D-Harrisburg, decided not to call House Bill 1919, which would require abortion clinics to give a woman the opportunity to see an active ultrasound at least one hour before an abortion.

By a 13-0 vote, before a standing-room-only room of angry abortion-rights protestors clad in “Women are not livestock” T-shirts and buttons emblazoned with a cow, the panel advanced legislation putting new financial burdens on abortion clinics.
The bill, sponsored by Rep. Darlene Senger (R-Naperville), would require abortion clinics to be retrofitted to resemble outpatient surgery centers, meaning equipment such as defibrillators and ventilators would be required for the first time while hallway and parking-lot dimensions would have to change.
The House Agriculture Committee, stocked mainly by socially conservative Democrats and Republicans from Downstate, has been the conduit to get guns-rights and anti-abortion legislation to the House floor for years — a fact critics of Senger’s bill zeroed in on.

In Illinois, clinics that do hundreds of abortions a year fall through a “loophole” that allows them to operate under lesser standards than medical clinics that perform surgery, said Peter Breen, executive director of the Thomas More Society, which helped draft the legislation.
Colleen Connell, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois, told the committee abortion clinics operate under different regulations. After a federal court ruled 20 years ago that a state law was applied in a “discriminatory fashion” against abortion clinics, the state developed separate regulations to comply with the court’s ruling, Connell said.
Many abortion clinics in the state will have to close if they can't afford to upgrade within the three-year time limit in the legislation, she said.

Iowans Rally for Marriage - Gingrich 'Buys In'
While hundreds of Christians gather at the Iowa Capitol to call on legislators to put same-sex 'marriage' to a vote by the people, presidential candidate Newt Gingrich is funding Iowa pro-marriage advocacy organizations to improve his low standing among Christians.

About 500 opponents of same-sex marriage are rallying at the Iowa Capitol, urging lawmakers to approve a statewide vote on amending the constitution to bay gay marriage.
Tuesday's event was organized by conservative group The Family Leader and featured former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore. He refused to remove a monument of the Ten Commandments in the state judicial building. He was removed from office in 2003, when he refused to abide by a federal court order to remove the monument.

From "Hundreds at statehouse rally yell: 'Let us vote!'" by O. Kay Henderson, Radio Iowa 3/15/11
Hundreds of people chanting “Let us vote!” gathered on the steps of the statehouse today, denouncing the Democratic leader of the state senate who is blocking a resolution that would set up a statewide vote on gay marriage.
Cary Gordon, pastor of Cornerstone World Outreach in Sioux City, gave the invocation and then delivered a 15 minute speech, criticizing the “insufferable political enemies” of traditional marriage like Senate Democratic Leader Mike Gronstal.
According to [Justice Roy] Moore, the rest of the country looks to Iowa because of the state’s first-in-the-nation Caucuses, and this issue will be part of the conversation in the presidential campaign. ”Because what happens in Iowa affects the rest of the nation. It’s not like Vegas,” Moore said. “You’ve heard about Vegas? What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. That’s not Iowa. What happens in Iowa the rest of the nation watches.”
Reverend Keith Ratliff, pastor of the Maple Street Missionary Baptist Church in Des Moines, urged the crowd to lobby state senators after the rally. ”For this is not a playground, my brothers and my sisters, this is a battleground,” Ratliff said. “To our legislators: let us vote.”

From "Marriage supporters collide at Capitol Tuesday" by Lynda Waddington, The Iowa Independent 3/15/11
Although conservative interests in the state have found support with Republicans, who have used their majority to pass legislation that would limit or eliminate same-sex marriage rights in Iowa, Democrats who hold a majority in the Iowa Senate have thus far thwarted all efforts. Frustrations for social conservatives have bubbled over in the past week, with key leaders of the movement calling for their supporters to work non-stop to defeat Senate Majority Leader Mike Gronstal (D-Council Bluffs) and other members of Democratic leadership who have stalled their attempts to roll back a 2009 Iowa Supreme Court decision.
Inclusion of Moore in the Iowa event has prompted national attention. Josh Dorner, writing for the Think Progress Wonk Room, notes that Moore, while serving as a circuit court judge, opened his court proceedings with prayers. As Moore’s celebrity status rose in conservative Christian circles, an influential and anti-gay Florida-based religious group, Coral Ridge Ministries, filmed the installation of Moore’s self-funded monument in Alabama and pledged to sell the video and other Moore-related tokens to financially support any future legal defense.

“Homosexual conduct by its very nature is immoral, and its consequences are inherently destructive to the natural order of society. Any person who engages in such conduct is presumptively unfit to have custody of minor children under the established laws of this State.”

From "Newt Gingrich sent $150K to help oust Iowa justices" by The Associated Press 3/15/11
Potential presidential candidate Newt Gingrich quietly lined up $150,000 to help defeat Iowa justices who threw out a ban on same-sex marriage, routing the money to conservative groups through an aide's political committee.
Gingrich, the former U.S. House speaker who has aggressively courted the conservatives who dominate Iowa's lead-off presidential caucuses, raised the money for the political arm of Restoring American Leadership, also known as ReAL.
That group then passed $125,000 to American Family Association Action and an additional $25,000 to the Iowa Christian Alliance — two of the groups that spent millions before last November's elections that removed three of the state's seven state Supreme Court justices. The court had unanimously decided a state law restricting marriage to a man and a woman violated Iowa's constitution.
The financial transfers, which appear to comply with campaign finance laws, were part of a steady flow of cash into Iowa from conservative groups such as the National Organization for Marriage and the Family Research Council.

-- From "Gay Marriage Debate at the Iowa Capitol" by The Associated Press 3/15/11
Moore called on Iowa residents to stand up for truth and virtue, saying "what happens in Iowa, the rest of the nation watches."
