Kindergartners Taught Sex Change in Maine School

Parents of Horace Mitchell Primary School in Kittery, Maine were shocked to learn that their children were given the lesson of a sexually confused toddler encouraged by his parents to pretend to be a girl and to ask "the good fairy to change his genitalia."  Superintendent of Schools Allyn Hutton said it's a necessary lesson: "The whole culture at Mitchell School is about teaching tolerance and respect."
“When our students and their parents have questions related to LGBTQ issues, our goal is to foster healthy dialog [sic], critical thinking and inclusiveness. With that in mind, our conversations include all students and perspectives to create a safe and supportive school climate.”

During a lesson on tolerance and acceptance implemented by the guidance department, the book “I Am Jazz” by Jessica Herthel and Jazz Jennings was read to 20 of 22 classes in the Grades K-3 school. The story is about a young child “with a boy’s body but a girl’s brain,” who goes through a childhood struggle of identifying with her true self until she and her family speak with a new doctor and come to understand the child is transgender.

[Supt.] Hutton said educating students about transgender people is important because there are students within the district who identify as such.

Hutton said a majority of parents expressed support of the lesson, while others would have rather had notification beforehand.

. . . The mother was less than pleased to learn that this book was involved in the class curriculum and says, “I feel like my thoughts, feelings and beliefs were completely ignored….My right as a parent to allow or not allow this discussion with my child was taken from me. It is very upsetting to me that I didn't have an option at all.”

The concerned parent says her son had many questions for her after she asked him about the book. For instance, he asked his mother if he was “transgender” or not and also whether or not he could be “a girl in love with a girl.” The mother says that up until time the topic was brought up in school, her son had never said anything like that before.  “I was taken aback by it,” the parent said. “Being seven, once you put something in their mind they don't forget so easily.”

The concerned parent also went to school authorities and expressed her concerns with the lesson and says, “When I spoke with the principal [David Foster] he was very cold about it. It's amazing how thoughtless the school has been with this whole thing.”

From "Jazz Jennings has written I am Jazz for transgender children like herself" posted at news.au.com 10/25/14

This 14-year-old has written the first picture book for children about growing up transgender — an accomplishment that has seen her named one of the world’s most influential teens.

Florida teenager Jazz Jennings was born male but started identifying as a girl at the age of two.

Jazz says her parents Greg and Jeanette decided to seek advice when she asked “Mummy, when’s the good fairy going to come with her magic wand and change, you know, my genitalia?”

By the age of five she was diagnosed with Gender Identity Disorder, or Gender Dysphoria, and started making the transition to living life as a female.

She started taking blockers that prevented the growth of body hair and with oestrogen therapy her body started to grow breasts during puberty.

Jazz will have to wait until she is 18 to have gender reassignment surgery.

Obama's MSNBC: Kids Belong to State, NOT Parents

The unapologetically forward-[left]-leaning cable channel MSNBC, whose reports resemble that of White House spokespersons, presented a 30-second totalitarian public-service announcement explaining that America must stop believing that parents are responsible to raise children -- that's the purpose of government and its school system.

-- From "'Unflippingbelievable': Palin hits MSNBC" by Dylan Byers, Politico 4/8/13

MSNBC's latest "Lean Forward" ad has earned the ire of one Sarah Palin, who says the spot promotes the idea that kids don't belong to their parents.

The ad features host Melissa Harris-Perry making an argument for greater investment in public education. Harris-Perry says Americans have "never invested as much in public education as we should have because we've always had a private notion of children: 'your kid is yours and your responsibility.'"

"We haven't had a very collective notion of, 'these are our children,'" Harris-Perry said. "So part of it is we have to break through our private idea that kids belong to their parents or kids belong to their families, and recognize that kids belong to whole communities. Once it's everybody's responsibility, and not just the households, then we start making better investments."

From "Glenn Beck Blasts MSNBC Promo for Attacking Family Values" By Myles Collier, Christian Post Contributor 4/8/13

The 30-second spot was such an assault on personal liberty that Beck spent nearly an hour of his radio show on Monday to discussing the MSNBC promo. He also continually insisted that the message put forth with the add is not what America is about.

"It's almost a parody of reality," Beck said of the MSNBC promo. "It is so far beyond what we have ever thought as a nation, it's remarkable … this is exactly what we warned about. This is the fulfillment of so many things that we have said on this program."

From "MSNBC-Melissa Harris-Perry says 'kids belong to whole communities'" by Mike Shortridge, Washington Times 4/7/13

This is not the first time that Harris-Perry has offered her opinion on the value of children, referring to the fertilized egg or, zygote, as “a thing” after dramatically breaking apart a plastic model of a woman’s reproductive system.

Choosing to air what should be the story line for a horror movie, or perhaps a documentary about Hitler, Stalin or Mao Zedong, MSNBC is apparently offering their tactile approval of the “Lean Forward” spot.

. . . The claim of Ms. Harris-Perry that “kids do not belong to their parents, kids belong to whole communities”, should infuriate every American.

These are the people that are teaching our children.

From "MSNBC: Kids Don't Belong to Their Parents" by Rich Lowry, National Review Editor 4/9/13

[Harris-Perry's] statement wasn’t an aside on live TV. The spot was shot, produced and aired without, apparently, raising any alarm bells. No one raised his or her hand and said, “Should we really broadcast something that sounds so outlandish?”

. . . As the ultimate private institution, the family is a stubborn obstacle to the great collective effort. Insofar as people invest in their own families, they’re holding out on the state and unacceptably privileging their own kids over the children of others. These parents are selfish, small-minded and backward.

. . . The truth is that parents are one of society’s most incorrigible sources of inequality. If you have two of them who stay married and are invested in your upbringing, you’ve hit life’s lottery. You’ll reap untold benefits denied to children who aren’t so lucky. That the family is so essential to the well-being of children has to be a constant source of frustration to the egalitarian statist, a reminder of the limits of his power.

-- From "Transgender at five" by Petula Dvorak, The Washington Post 5/19/12

[Kathryn's] parents, Jean and Stephen, were fine with their toddler’s embrace of all things boy. They’ve both been school teachers and coaches in Maryland and are pretty immune to the quirky stuff that kids do.

But it kept getting more intense, all this boyishness from their younger daughter. She began to argue vehemently — as only a tantrum-prone toddler can — that she was not a girl.

Jean and Stephen gave up trying to force Kathryn to wear the frilly dresses that Grandma kept sending.

Her little girl’s brain was different. Jean could tell. She had heard about transgender people . . .

[The Washington Post "journalist" gives this advice in the article:] Parents who ignore or deny these problems can make life miserable for their kids, who can become depressed or suicidal, psychiatrists say.

Jean didn’t want Kathryn to hate herself or be subjected to hate from others. Maybe allowing her to declare herself a boy in preschool would make life easier in the long run.

UPDATE 6/12/14: From "Transgender Surgery Isn't the Solution" by Dr. Paul McHugh, former psychiatrist in chief at Johns Hopkins Hospital, posted at Wall Street Journal

. . . policy makers and the media are doing no favors either to the public or the transgendered by treating their confusions as a right in need of defending rather than as a mental disorder that deserves understanding, treatment and prevention. . . .

You won't hear it from those championing transgender equality, but controlled and follow-up studies reveal fundamental problems with this [transgender rights] movement. When children who reported transgender feelings were tracked without medical or surgical treatment at both Vanderbilt University and London's Portman Clinic, 70%-80% of them spontaneously lost those feelings.

. . . A 2011 study at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden produced the most illuminating results yet regarding the transgendered, evidence that should give advocates pause. The long-term study—up to 30 years—followed 324 people who had sex-reassignment surgery. The study revealed that beginning about 10 years after having the surgery, the transgendered began to experience increasing mental difficulties. Most shockingly, their suicide mortality rose almost 20-fold above the comparable nontransgender population. This disturbing result has as yet no explanation but probably reflects the growing sense of isolation reported by the aging transgendered after surgery. The high suicide rate certainly challenges the surgery prescription.

At the heart of the problem is confusion over the nature of the transgendered. "Sex change" is biologically impossible. People who undergo sex-reassignment surgery do not change from men to women or vice versa. Rather, they become feminized men or masculinized women. Claiming that this is civil-rights matter and encouraging surgical intervention is in reality to collaborate with and promote a mental disorder.

UPDATE 6/3/14: "This poor child is confused, not ‘transgendered’" by Matt Walsh

This child didn’t ‘choose’ her gender. She didn’t choose to cut her hair and dress like a boy. Kids that age can only wear what you put on them, sport the haircut you assign them, play with the toys you give them, and mostly believe what you tell them they should believe. Tell them there’s a magical fat man who flies down the chimney to bring them presents every Christmas, and they’ll believe it. Tell them that they get to choose their own gender like it’s an ice cream flavor at Baskin Robbins, and they’ll believe it. Their reality is whatever you construct for them.

. . . This girl did not choose to be a boy. She can’t. She also didn’t choose to be a world famous face for the transgender movement. Her parents made that decision. Her parents decided to make her a ‘boy’ and alert the press.

It’s interesting, when you think about it. If a girl declares that she’s a lesbian, progressives would tell us that this identity cannot be modified. It is ingrained in her soul and nothing can ever alter it. Her sexual preference is immutable. Her sex, however? Fluid. Subject to change. And what if she ‘becomes a boy’ and still finds herself attracted to girls? By their standards, she’s just turned herself straight. But isn’t that impossible? So is she still gay? But if she’s still gay then she’s still a woman, which means she’s not a man, which means your sex can’t be changed.

They tell us in one breath that it’s OK for boys to like pink and girls to like blue, and we should stop expecting our sons to play sports and our daughters to play with dolls. These are just social norms, they say. We should not subscribe to such archaic notions. But suddenly they proceed to derail their own narrative when they next inform you that a girl liking blue and a boy playing with dolls might actually be a sign that the girl is a boy and the boy is a girl.

VP Joe Biden Embraces Homosexual Behavior/Marriage

Although President Obama continues cheerleading the Gay Agenda, he has sent the Vice President on the campaign trail to do what would mean defeat in November if the President did it himself -- that is, say "I fully support same-sex marriage."

It would appear that Biden's words are intended to signal that if Obama is re-elected, THEN he'll fully, and openly, back same-sex "marriage."

The vice president says the reason to support gay marriage is, in part, because of television shows.

For background, read Obama Defeats Marriage, Again - Congress Responds and also read White House won't clarify President's position on same-sex 'marriage' as well as Gay Lobby Purchases Politicians to Achieve Same-sex 'Marriage'

-- From "Biden: I'm 'absolutely comfortable' with gay marriage" by NBC's Carrie Dann 5/6/12

"I am absolutely comfortable with the fact that men marrying men, women marrying women, and heterosexual men and women marrying another are entitled to the same exact rights, all the civil rights, all the civil liberties," he told NBC's David Gregory on "Meet the Press." "And quite frankly, I don't see much of a distinction beyond that."

"The good news is that as more and more Americans become to understand what this is all about is a simple proposition," he said. "Who do you love? Who do you love? And will you be loyal to the person you love? And that's what people are finding out is what -- what all marriages, at their root, are about."

"The vice president was saying what the president has said previously -- that committed and loving same-sex couples deserve the same rights and protections enjoyed by all Americans, and that we oppose any effort to roll back those rights," [a White House] aide said. "That's why we stopped defending the constitutionality of Section 3 [one-man, one-woman marriage] of the Defense of Marriage Act in legal challenges and support legislation to repeal it. Beyond that, the vice president was expressing that he too is evolving on the issue, after meeting so many committed couples and families in this country."

Most Americans Oppose Obama's War on Christianity

New surveys by The Wall Street Journal/NBC News and the New York Times/CBS News both indicate that the majority of Americans do not favor the ObamaCare mandates requiring employers to provide free contraceptives, abortifacients, and sterilization for female employees.

For background, read The Pope, and Obama's War on Christianity and also read Obama's War on Christianity: Sen. Rubio Fires Back as well as Bishops Say Obama Destroying Societal Norm

-- From "Birth-Control Rule Debate Intensifying" by Gerald F. Seib, Wall Street Journal 3/13/12

[The Journal/NBC News survey] showed women by 53% to 38% said religiously affiliated employers should be able to opt out of the birth-control rule that requires employers, including religious institutions, to offer contraceptive drugs free of charge. Men favored a religious opt-out by a slightly wider margin.

. . . when asked whether the government should mandate that Roman Catholic and other religiously affiliated hospitals and colleges offer birth control paid for by the institutions' insurance companies—as required by the [ObamaCare] rule—Americans were opposed by 45% to 38%. Women split evenly, with 40% in favor and 40% opposed.

When Journal/NBC pollsters asked more specifically whether the government should require religious institutions to provide such contraception coverage—including the morning-after pill, which would be covered under the rule—opposition rose further. Americans overall were opposed 49% to 34%, and women were opposed by 46% to 35%.

From "NYT Poll: Majority of Americans Say Employers Should Be Able to Opt Out of Contraception Mandate" by Fred Lucas, CNSNews.com 3/13/12

A significant majority – 57 percent -- of Americans believe religiously-affiliated employers such as universities or hospitals should be able to opt out of the Obama administration’s mandate to cover the cost of contraception, abortifacients, and sterilization for female employees, according to a New York Times/CBS News poll released Tuesday.

Fifty-one percent believe all employers should be able to opt out.

The New York Times/CBS News poll's questions were not exactly accurate because they only mentioned "birth control" in describing the mandate. They did not mention that the mandate also requires coverage for sterilizations and drugs that induce abortions.

President Barack Obama and congressional Democrats have sought to take political advantage of the controversy over whether HHS should force people--particularly Catholics--to act against their faith in purchasing or providing insurance coverage for sterilizations and all FDA-approved contraceptives including those that cause abortions. Democrats and the administration have tried to frame the issue as a question of conservatives and Catholic bishops waging a war on women.

[Homosexual activists] delivered a petition filled with 20,000 signatures to MSNBC on Tuesday.

According to its website, FRC seeks to "advance faith, family, and freedom in public policy and public opinion." The non-profit organization based in Washington D.C. was identified as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center for making "false claims about the LGBT community based on discredited research and junk science." The Southern Poverty Law Center also said that FRC's intention was to "denigrate LGBT people in its battles against same-sex marriage, hate crimes laws, anti-bullying programs and the repeal of the military’s 'Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell' policy."

"They say the research is overwhelming that homosexuality poses a risk to children," Perkins previously said on "Hardball with Chris Matthews." On the "Washington Watch Weekly" radio show, Perkins said that, "at its base, terrorism is a strike against the general populous simply to spread fear and intimidation just so they can disrupt and destabilize the system of government. That's what the homosexuals are doing here to the legal system."

Sexual Immorality Causes Cancer: HPV Epidemic

As the liberal media highlighted the heated presidential candidate debate concerning mandatory HPV vaccinations for pre-teens, they inadvertently damaged their own sexualization agenda, and so they've retrenched and are now reporting the cancer-causing effects of HPV infection -- insisting that all girls and boys be vaccinated ASAP. What the media refuse to acknowledge is that abstinence is 100% effective in stopping this sexually transmitted virus.

The problem is rooted in a culture that demands acceptance of sexual immorality.

Dr. Robert Haddad at the Dana Farber Cancer Center said he considers the rise in cases among men an epidemic.

From "No apologies: Bachmann defends HPV remarks" by Sarah Huisenga, CBS News 9/15/11

Michele Bachmann is on the defensive about comments she made earlier this week suggesting that a vaccine against a virus linked to cervical cancer poses a danger to young girls.

During the Republican debate Bachmann attacked her rival Rick Perry for mandating vaccinations against the human papillomavirus vaccine (HPV) for Texas school girls - a decision that the Texas legislature later overruled.

"To have innocent little 12-year-old girls be forced to have a government injection through an executive order is just flat out wrong," she said during the debate.

Scientists have accused her of promulgating a flat Earth theory of medicine. At an appearance in Virginia on Wednesday, Perry told reporters that Bachmann's assertions had "no basis in fact."

To read the entire article above, CLICK HERE.

From "HPV vaccine is essential" by The Star-Ledger Editorial Board 9/16/11

Yet none of [the media fury] changes a central fact: It’s essential that we vaccinate against HPV, which infects as much as half our population. More virulent strains are linked to cervical cancer, a killer of more than 4,000 women each year. The virus also causes genital warts, anal, throat and penile cancers in men.

It’s so easily spread that condoms don’t offer complete protection. Teaching abstinence before marriage doesn’t, either, unless you can guarantee your child’s future spouse has never had sexual contact with another person.

So why is it the vaccine that’s stirring up alarm? Because of mouthpieces of mythology such as Michele Bachmann, who suggested it causes mental retardation, despite a total lack of evidence. And religious conservatives who believe it will somehow turn innocent girls into strumpets.

In fact, we should be mandating this vaccine for all young girls — and boys, once their version is vetted.

God's Conspiracy Theory per NBC's Rachel Maddow

The entrance of Gov. Rick Perry to the presidential race has raised the anti-Christian media rage to a fever pitch: Last night, Rachel Maddow presented her proof that Perry is backed by "a shadowy group of bizarre Christian conservatives seeking to infiltrate the government."

-- From "Rachel Maddow: Rick Perry May Be The Face Of A Christian Movement Seeking Political Domination" posted at Huffington Post 8/11/11

True, it all sounds a little "Da Vinci Code," but Maddow's case came from a lengthy article in the Texas Observer that discussed the connection between Perry--who is due to jump into the GOP presidential race on Sunday--and a movement called the New Apostolic Reformation.

Perry's recent (and controversial) Houston prayer event was endorsed by many of the members of the movement. Maddow played several minutes of clips of some of the leading members of the group. Subjects discussed included Oprah's status as the Antichrist, the Emperor of Japan's misconduct with a "sun goddess," and Hitler's fondness for gay soldiers.

From "Rachel Maddow: Rick Perry’s 2012 Run Is Power Grab For Christian Conspiracy Group" by Frances Martel, Mediaite.com 8/10/11

Maddow noted that for Perry to have invited many of the characters that appeared at his event was enough of a threat to any potential campaign– not because of the prayer itself, but “the risk for his President campaign was… that the particular stadium prayer event he held was with these guys.”

To read the entire article above, CLICK HERE.

From "Presidential candidates' faith at center of media scrutiny" by Bob Ray Sanders, McClatchy Newspapers 8/11/11

Even without Perry getting into the race, which he's expected to do within days, several Republican contenders have been making God and Christian values an issue.

Some of those ministers associated with the prayer meeting are known to have fairly extreme views when it comes to certain groups in this country like gays, Catholics and Muslims. Perry tried to distance himself a bit by suggesting that he did not agree with all the views of the participants. He insists that the nation's problems were so big we need God's help in solving them.

That's fine, but the governor should know that in a presidential race, candidates often are judged by the people with whom they associate, including the preachers they've listened to over the years.

Not that I particularly care what church or religious institutions a candidate belongs to, I think we should insist that the media examine statements and sermons of the preachers these contenders have embraced.

From "Washington, Lincoln’s prayers for America" by Jim Daly, Focus on the Family, posted at Washington Post 8/10/11

[President George] Washington publically prayed . . . in a letter to the states he considered (at the time) his final statement of political advice to the nation.

“I now make it my earnest prayer,” Washington wrote on June 8, 1783, “that God would have you, and the State over which you preside, in his holy protection, that he would incline the hearts of the Citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to Government, to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another, for their fellow Citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for their brethren who have served in the Field, and finally, that he would most graciously be pleased to dispose us all, to do Justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that Charity, humility and pacific temper of mind, which were the Characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed Religion, and without an humble imitation of whose example in these things, we can never hope to be a happy Nation.”

Then there’s Abraham Lincoln. In the thick of the Civil War, during his second inaugural address, he said: “Fondly do we hope -- fervently do we pray - that this mighty scourge of war may speedily pass away. Yet, if God wills that it continue, until all the wealth piled by the bond-man’s two hundred and fifty years of unrequited toil shall be sunk, and until every every drop of blood drawn with the lash, shall be paid by another drawn with the sword, as was said three thousand years ago, so still it must be said ‘The judgements of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.’”

As GOP presidential candidate Michele Bachmann (R-MN) surges in the polls, more information is coming to light about her past that reveal the depths of her political and religious extremism.

While arguably not as close as Obama’s and Wright’s relationship, Bachmann and Dean’s ties date back several years. In 2005, Bachmann, then a state senator, gave Dean’s ministry a letter of endorsement after Dean sent her a copy of his comic book, “My War.”

“Your work is a testament to the struggle our youth are facing in making the right choices in the face of controversy and peer pressure,” she wrote. “I commend you on writing this book for parents and youth alike.”

And she reiterated her support for their work evangelizing in public schools. “We can’t overlook the outright rejection of God in the public school classroom, and the outright scorn of Christianity in our public square,” she said. “Moral relativism is exalted and faith in Christ is derided.”

From "Leading the Anti-Bachmann Army" by David A. Graham, The Daily Beast, posted at MSNBC.com 7/19/11

Michele Bachmann's star is on the rise. Her poll numbers are climbing. The donations are rolling in. And the press is scrambling for any scraps about her character, her past, what makes her tick. Digging deep into the Minnesota Republican's record, reporters have found some tantalizing material: her alleged ties to the hate-mongering pastor Bradlee Dean . . .

They're juicy stories and they've gotten plenty of attention nationwide. But they aren't news--a small cluster of bloggers in Minnesota broke all those stories years ago [on the Dump Bachmann blog].

From "Feeding frenzy over 'gays' remark facing challenge" by Bob Unruh, World Net Daily 7/19/11

[Bradlee] Dean explained that his words were outrageously distorted by pro-gay reporters who listened, and other reporters who knowingly republished these distortions. At this point this snowball republication allegedly was false and misleading and included an on-air condemnation from MSNBC's Rachel Maddow that an attorney says clearly misrepresents the meaning and intent. The result could be a legal action, according to Larry Klayman, the government watchdog attorney who founded Judicial Watch and now is working with Freedom Watch.

In referencing the comments from Dean, Maddow said, "Foreign enemies rising up against America because Christians aren't doing the job of killing the gays."

. . . But that was an edited version of Dean's original message, which was a benign warning to the homosexual community that the Bible calls the behavior a sin and there are consequences for sin, so they should "flee" from that. Dean explains he was only trying to guilt the Christian community to take the radical leftist homosexual agenda more seriously.

ABC jumped into the fray with the blog comment that Dean "has suggested homosexuals be executed."

Activist sites from as Rightwingwatch took it even further, saying that Dean statements include "that Muslim nations that execute gays are more moral than American Christians."

State Democrat-Farmer-Labor Party Rep. Karen Clark accused Dean of saying that "extremists who call for the execution of American gays are morally justified."

Moral Christians 'Backward' Says MSNBC Chris Matthews

Concerning public opinion of NY Congressman Anthony Weiner's adulterous "gross behavior" on line with women and young girls via Twitter (and various Internet social media), the cable TV host said, “the people in the rural areas of this country who are Christian, conservative, culturally – you can say ‘backward’ if you want – they don’t like this stuff.”

-- From "Chris Matthews: If Weiner Stays, Democrats ‘Never Get Leadership Back’ In The House" by Matt Schneider, MEDIAite 6/9/11

Matthews was aware that Weiner’s behavior might not be as big of a deal in his home district of New York, but knew that around the country it played much worse. “If you’re a blue dog Democrat from a conservative culture part of the country . . . your life is getting difficult enough defending the East coast and the left coast Democratic party, they’re too far left,” Matthews said.

From "Matthews: Weiner in Trouble Because His Behavior Offends 'Culturally Backward' Christian Conservatives" by Geoffrey Dickens, NewsBusters 6/10/11

On Thursday's Hardball, Chris Matthews determined that Democratic Congressman Anthony Weiner could be in danger of being forced out of Congress by Blue Dog Dems who face uphill battles in red states . . .

During a discussion about Weiner's chances of survival, after being caught sending lewd pictures to women via Twitter, the MSNBCer claimed the liberal congressman didn't have to worry about his, according to Matthews, culturally superior constituents in New York - the "56 percent in Brooklyn and Queens" who "can live with this guy." Instead he had to be concerned with his Democratic colleagues fearful about re-election in the "conservative culturally part of the country."

Liberal Media Use Heretic to Counter Christ

Rob Bell of the "emergent church" movement is finally being fully exposed as a "wolf in sheep's clothing" and the liberal media just can't get enough of him.

For background, read Heretical Preacher Embraced by Liberal Media

-- From "'Love Wins': Pastor's book kindles firestorm over hell" by Cathy Lynn Grossman, USA TODAY 3/14/11

Bell's new book, Love Wins: A Book About Heaven, Hell, and the Fate of Every Person Who Ever Lived, has provoked weeks of fierce infighting among pastors, theologians and anyone else who scans the Christian blogosphere where critics rage that he's a hipster heretic.

But Richard Mouw, president of the world's largest Protestant [liberal] seminary, Fuller Theological Seminary based in Pasadena, Calif., calls Love Wins "a great book, well within the bounds of orthodox Christianity and passionate about Jesus.

In Love Wins, which arrives in stores Tuesday, Bell claims:

• Heaven and hell are choices we make and live with right now. "God gives us what we want," including the freedom to live apart from God (hell) or turn God's way (heaven).

• Death doesn't cut off the ability to repent. In his Bible, Bell sees no "infinite, eternal torment for things (people) did in their few finite years of life."

• Jesus makes salvation possible even for people who never know his name. "We have to allow for mystery," for people who "drink from the rock" of faith "without knowing who or what it was."

• Churches that don't allow for this are "misguided and toxic."

Small wonder that traditionalists call him a false teacher of a Jesus-optional Gospel, leading innocents to damnation and a traitor to the evangelical label.

From "Hard-hitting Rob Bell interview goes viral" by Michael Foust, Baptist Press News 3/16/11

"What you've done is you're amending the Gospel -- the Christian message -- so that it's palatable to contemporary people who find, for example, the idea of hell and heaven very difficult to stomach ... That's why you've done, isn't it?" [MSNBC reporter Martin] Bashir asks Bell at one point.

At another point, Bashir asks Bell if it is "irrelevant" for someone to follow Christ in this life if -- as Bell argues -- non-Christians will be saved anyway.

Bell's evasive answers to questions have frustrated Christian leaders. Even in the interview, he denies he is a universalist, and then proceeds to make universalistic arguments.

From "What Happened to Heaven and Is Gandhi There?" by John Wilson, Wall Street Journal 3/18/11

Something strange has happened in evangelical churches over the past generation. Not in every congregation, but in the main, sermons devoted to the grim prospect of hell have become rare, and even talk of heaven is muted.

. . . So is Mr. Bell one more Christian liberal describing God as a mountain you can climb any way you want? Not exactly.

. . . anyone who carefully reads "Love Wins" will see that Mr. Bell is not a universalist. As C.S. Lewis did, he suggests that God grants free will to all, including those who do not want his divine company and therefore choose damnation.

Still, the account of heaven and hell that he rejects does sound a lot like what most Christians have taught and been taught for 2,000 years . . .

From "Rob Bell and the (re)emergence of liberal theology" by R. Albert Mohler Jr., President of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary 3/16/11

For the last 20 years or so, a movement identified as emerging or emergent Christianity has done its determined best to avoid speaking with specificity. Leading figures in the movement have offered trenchant criticisms of mainstream evangelicalism. Most pointedly, they have accused evangelical Christianity, variously, as being excessively concerned with doctrine, culturally tone-deaf, overly propositional, unnecessarily offensive, aesthetically malnourished, and basically uncool.

And yet, even as many of these [emerging/emergent] leaders insisted that they remained within the evangelical circle, it was clear that many were moving into a post-evangelical posture. There were early hints that the direction of the movement was toward theological liberalism and radical revisionism, but the predominant mode of their argument was suggestion, rather than assertion.

Rather than make a clear theological or doctrinal assertion, emerging figures generally raise questions and offer suggestive comments. Influenced by postmodern narrative theories, most within the movement lean into story rather than formal argument. Nevertheless, the general direction seemed clear enough. The leading emerging church figures appeared to be pushing Protestant liberalism -- just about a century late.

. . . Rob Bell uses his incredible power of literary skill and communication to unravel the Bible's message and to cast doubt on its teachings.

Bell clearly prefers inclusivism, the belief that Christ is saving humanity through means other than the Gospel, including other religions. But he mixes up his story along the way, appearing to argue for outright universalism on some pages, but backing off of a full affirmation. He rejects the belief that conscious faith in Christ is necessary for salvation, but he never clearly lands on a specific account of what he does believe.

. . . Yes, we have read this book before. With Love Wins, Rob Bell moves solidly within the world of Protestant liberalism. His message is a liberalism arriving late on the scene. Tragically, his message will confuse many believers as well as countless unbelievers.

Birth Control Patch Hidden Risks

According to NBC, 24 deaths have been attributed to blood clots induced by the patch, and more than 2,400 women currently have personal injury lawsuits filed against Johnson & Johnson.

-- From "Johnson & Johnson Bury Data on Ortho-Evra's Health Risks?" by Meredith Melnick, Time Magazine 9/24/10

Since it's introduction in 2002, the patch has been prescribed 40 million times.

. . . But the patch is associated with higher risks of pulmonary embolism — a type of blood clot — as well as stroke and heart attack. These are all rare side effects of any birth control medication that contains synthetic forms of estrogen. The problem is, the patch pumps 60% more estrogen into your bloodstream than the Pill does. While the oral Pill is quickly digested and broken down in the body, the patch provides a constant stream of estrogen for three weeks of each month.

An NBC report, broadcast during Thursday's broadcast of the Today show, said that according to leaked patient reports from J&J, the company knew that users of the patch were 12 times more likely to suffer stroke and 18 times more likely to have blood clots than Pill takers.

Teacher Sues Christian School over Her Immorality

Florida teacher Jarretta Hamilton was fired for breaking the school's morality code by becoming pregnant while not married.

UPDATE 4/20/12: After losing in court in 2011, teacher gets hearing in appeals court

-- From "Teacher Fired for Becoming Pregnant Out of Wedlock" by Russell Goldman, ABC News 6/11/10

In April 2009, Hamilton told her boss at Southland Christian School in St. Cloud, Fla., that she was pregnant and planned to take a six-week leave in October. When asked when she conceived, Hamilton answered honestly: She became pregnant just three weeks prior to her Feb. 20 wedding.

That was enough to get her fired under the school's strict morality rules, which prohibit teachers from "fornication," engaging in sex before marriage.

Now, Hamilton is suing the school in federal court, seeking damages for lost wages and emotional distress.

According to the complaint, Hamilton is suing under federal gender discrimination laws, a state marriage discrimination law and for violations of her privacy.

The school does not dispute the reasons for firing Hamilton, calling sex outside of marriage "an immoral action," but argues that her termination does not rise to discrimination because it employs other pregnant women.

Miss California Topless Photos Shoved in Christians' Faces

Politically Incorrect Enemy No. 1, Carrie Prejean, has been targeted by mainstream media and homosexualists worldwide for total annihilation because of her support of traditional marriage.

-- From "Miss California: I’ll fight on despite racy photos" by Mike Celizic, NBC News TODAYShow.com contributor 5/5/09

With partially nude photos of her popping up on Web sites questioning her Christian credentials, Miss California USA Carrie Prejean has fired back, claiming the racy pictures are just modeling shots and vowing to continue her battle against same-sex marriage.

“I am a Christian, and I am a model,” Prejean said in a statement released overnight to the media. “Models pose for pictures, including lingerie and swimwear photos. Recently, photos taken of me as a teenager have been released surreptitiously to a tabloid Web site that openly mocks me for my Christian faith. I am not perfect, and I will never claim to be.”

But Alicia Jacobs, a judge at the April 19 Miss USA pageant during which Prejean made her highly publicized statement opposing same-sex marriage, said the pictures go beyond what the Miss California pageant says are appropriate.

The images may also hurt her status as a spokeswoman for conservative causes. “She can continue to advocate for causes, but I don’t think these causes are going to advocate for her,” Ken Baker of E! News told NBC.

The Web site thedirty.com claimed that it had six pictures of Prejean. As of Tuesday morning, it had posted one on its site. The picture shows Prejean wearing nothing but a pair of revealing pink panties and smiling over her shoulder at the camera. Her breasts are covered by her arm.

Although Prejean said the pictures were taken when she was 17, others have alleged that they seem to have been taken after she underwent breast-enhancement surgery six weeks prior to the Miss USA pageant. That surgery was paid for by the Miss California pageant.

From "Calif pageant eyes Prejean for contract violations" by Lisa Leff, Associated Press Writer 5/5/09

The directors of the Miss California USA pageant are looking into whether title holder Carrie Prejean violated her contract by working with a national group opposed to gay marriage and by posing semi-nude when she was a teenage model.

Pageant spokesman Roger Neal said Tuesday that it appears Prejean has run afoul of several sections of the 12-page contract that all prospective contestants were required to sign before competing in the November state contest.

The detailed document prohibits the titular Miss California from making personal appearances, giving interviews or making commercials without permission from pageant officials. In the last 10 days, Prejean has made televised appearances at her San Diego church and on behalf of the National Organization for Marriage, a group opposed to same-sex marriage.

The contact also contains a clause asking participants to say whether they have conducted themselves "in accordance with the highest ethical and moral standards." As an example, it asks if they have ever been photographed nude or partially nude.

Morning News Shows 'Promoting' Democrats, Study Finds

From "Morning News Shows 'Promoting' Democrats, Study Finds" by Nathan Burchfiel, posted at CNSNews.com

In covering the 2008 presidential campaign, the network morning news shows are "overwhelmingly focused on Democrats, [and] they are actively promoting the Democrats' liberal agenda," according to a study released today by the conservative Media Research Center (MRC).

The study examined 517 campaign segments on the morning news shows broadcast on ABC, CBS and NBC in the first seven months of 2007. It found that the shows covered Democrats "nearly twice as much" as Republicans and framed interview questions from a liberal perspective most of the time.

The study was produced by the MRC's News Analysis Division. The MRC is the parent organization of Cybercast News Service.

The study found that 55 percent of campaign stories on ABC's "Good Morning America," CBS's "The Early Show" and NBC's "Today" focused on Democratic candidates while only 29 percent focused on Republicans. The remaining 16 percent were classified as "mixed/independent."
