A civil partnership between three people has been officially recognised in the state of Sao Paolo. The relationship between one man and two women was passed by public notary Claudia do Nascimento Domingues, who said the trio were entitled to family rights.
"What we considered a family before isn't necessarily what we would consider a family today," she said.

[Notary Domingues] says there is nothing in law to prevent such an arrangement.
The three individuals, who have declined to speak to the press, have lived in Rio de Janeiro together for three years and share bills and other expenses.
Nathaniel Santos Batista Junior, a jurist who helped draft the [civil union] document, said the idea was to protect their rights in case of separation or death of a partner, Globo reports.

Same sex unions have been legally recognised in Brazil since 2004. A same-sex couple may convert their civil union into marriage with the approval of a state judge. In July 2011, a judge in Sao Paulo approved the country’s first gay marriage, when he ruled two men could convert their union.

From "Three-person ‘stable union’ registered in Brazil" by Matthew Cullinan Hoffman, LifeSiteNews.com 8/29/12
The action follows a decision by the nation’s Supreme Tribunal to allow homosexuals to enter into such unions, despite the fact that they are defined in the Constitution as a union between a man and a woman. The decision led to a lower court decision extending the eligibility for homosexuals to marriage itself, although the verdict has not yet been recognized throughout Brazil.
“Stable unions” exist in Brazil to regulate cohabiting couples who are unmarried.
The “stable union” status gives rights of inheritance and establishes rules for dividing the group’s estate if there is a breakup. According to the law, stable unions exist to ease the transition to “marriage.” Pro-family groups fear that polygamous marriage might be the next step, as happened in the case of homosexual unions.
Pro-family groups in the United States and the Anglosphere have long argued that the “non-discrimination” rationale used to justify homosexual “marriage” could equally apply to polygamy, while homosexual “marriage” proponents have dismissed such fears as baseless.

Bestiality Causes Cancer of Penis: Study
For background, read Bestiality: Tolerance for This Also? and also read Socialist Government Schools Teach Bestiality
-- From "Study Links Bestiality, Penile Cancer" by Greg Wilson, NBC Connecticut 11/8/11
The paper was authored by a team of urologists from centers around Brazil and studied men from age 18 to 80. Men who had had sex with animals also reported a higher incidence of sexually transmitted diseases. Of the 118 penile cancer patients, 45 percent reported having had sex with animals, compared to 32 percent of healthy men. Fifty-nine percent of men who had sex with animals did so for one to five years, while 21 percent continued the behavior, also known as zoophilia, for more than five years.
Men reported having sex as frequently as daily with such animals as mares, cows, pigs and and chickens. Penile cancer accounts for up to 10 percent of cancers in men in Asia, Africa and South America, although it is rare in the U.S.

Michigan is one of 30 states that have enacted laws that prohibit sexual contact between humans and animals.

From "Sex with animals tied to penile cancer: What explains link?" by David W Freeman, CBS News 11/9/11
"We think that the intense and long-term SWA [sex with animals] practice could produce micro-traumas in the human penile tissue," Stenio de Cassio Zequi, a urologist in Sao Paolo, told LiveScience. "The genital mucous membranes of animals could have different characteristics from human genitalia, and the animals' secretions are probably different from human fluids. Perhaps animal tissues are less soft than ours, and non-human secretions would be toxic for us."
But that's not the only possible explanation. The study also fingered smoking, having sex with prostitutes, precancerous conditions of the penis, being nonwhite, and phimosis (a condition in which the foreskin cannot be fully retracted) as risk factors for penile cancer.

From "Sex With Animals Linked to Penile Cancer" by Jennifer Abbasi, LiveScience Contributor 11/7/11
Sex with animals could be as ancient as sex itself. "Since time immemorial, this habit has been described in folk music, theater, jokes and oral traditions," Zequi told LiveScience. "In some antique civilizations there were temples or rituals designated for SWA practices." Yet SWA is underrepresented in scientific literature, and the new study is the first to link the practice to male genital cancers.
Tobias Köhler, a urologist at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine who was not involved in the research, said the study was rigorous. "It adds to our knowledge of cancer prevention and gives us epidemiological data we never really had before on sex with animals.”
He postulated that the lifestyle of men who have sex with animals could also be a factor. "The study reported that these men also have more sex with prostitutes," Köhler said.

Obama, Brazil Push Gay Agenda on World

-- From "US demanding gay rights support at UN body" by Bradley Klapper, Associated Press 3/21/11
The issue of gay rights has polarized nations at the U.N. for years. And despite growing acceptance for homosexuality in Western nations and parts of Latin America, lawyers say there is still a gap in human rights treaties for the protection of gays against discrimination and mistreatment.
Obama has stepped up the case for gay rights in recent months, winning a congressional vote to repeal the "don't ask, don't tell" ban on gays serving openly in the U.S. military and urging last weekend in a joint statement with the Brazilian president for the establishment of a special investigator to monitor respect for lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender individuals in the Western Hemisphere.
Under the Bush administration, the U.S. policy was markedly different. The administration didn't support a French resolution at the U.N. General Assembly in 2008 that addressed similar concerns, joining Russia, China, the Vatican and Islamic states in opposition. The U.S. explained its position at the time in technical terms, saying it was fearful of language that would infringe on the right of American states to legislate matters such as gay marriage.

UPDATE 3/24/11: From "Obama Administration Presses Its Homosexual ‘Rights’ Agenda on Other Nations" by Penny Starr, CNSNews.com
On Tuesday, the United States joined 84 other countries at the United Nations Human Rights Council in a joint commitment to end acts of violence and human rights abuses on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.
The joint statement produced by the Human Rights Council – a body dominated by Islamic nations and their allies -- did not come easily. “Over the past months our diplomats have been engaged in frank, and at times difficult, conversations about the human rights of LGBT persons with governments from around world,” the White House noted.
The HRC’s joint statement itself alludes to difficulties: “We acknowledge that these are sensitive issues for many, including in our own societies. We affirm the importance of respectful dialogue, and trust that there is common ground in our shared recognition that no-one should face stigmatisation, violence or abuse on any ground. In dealing with sensitive issues, the Council must be guided by the principles of universality and non-discrimination,” the statement reads.

Archbishop Blames Pro-homosexual Culture for Priest Abuse
-- From "We're all potential paedophiles, says archbishop who claims children are 'spontaneously gay'" by [UK] Daily Mail Foreign Service 5/6/10
An archbishop [Brazilian priest Dadeus Grings] has defended the child sex scandal that has engulfed the Roman Catholic Church by claiming it reflects the behaviour of society at large.
He said: 'Society today is paedophile, that is the problem. So people easily fall into it. And the fact it is denounced is a good sign.'
The archbishop also said it was important to help children avoid homosexuality.
'We know that the adolescent is spontaneously homosexual. Boys play with boys, girls play with girls.
'If there is no proper guidance, this sticks. The question is - how are we going to educate our children to use a sexuality that is human and suitable?'
[His comments] come just three weeks after Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, the Vatican's second in-command, said the Church's international sex scandal is linked to homosexuality and not celibacy among priests.

Obama Wins: U.N. Gay Agenda
-- From "UN allows gay, lesbian group to join debates" by Bradley S. Klapper, Associated Press 7/27/09
[This] marks the third consecutive year the U.N. Economic and Social Council has overturned a decision by a 19-country committee blocking gay groups from participating in the global body's debates.
Swedish and Spanish groups were accredited as recognized non-governmental organizations in 2007 and 2008, breaking years of resistance from some governments. At one U.N. debate in 2003, Pakistan's ambassador even suggested use of the term "sexual disorientation."
One of the U.N. council's main powers is granting consultative status to organizations so that they can participate in formal U.N. meetings. More than 3,000 groups already have such rights.
The U.S. also criticized the U.N. committee mandated with recommending which campaign groups should be given a place. U.S. diplomat John Sammis said that body seems to spend more time coming up with ways to exclude qualified civil society groups rather than on work aimed at including them.

U.N. Rejects Homosexual Group Supported by Obama
-- From "U.N. committee rejects homosexual group with possible pedophile link" Catholic News Agency 2/15/09
“The UK pushed hard for the group to be accepted,” [Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute] C-FAM President Austin Ruse said in a statement. “The Obama administration also voted in favor of granting official status to the group.”
According to C-FAM, the [U.N. Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC)] voted against deferring a decision on AGBLT and rejected the application in a vote of eight to six. The Russian Federation, China and Pakistan were among those who voted to reject the application, while the United States, the United Kingdom and Israel were among those voting against its rejection.
The NGO [Non-Governmental Organization] committee member from Egypt urged that the committee not make a rushed decision on any group where there was even the “slightest shadow of doubt” about its involvement in pedophilia.
After the vote, the representative from the U.K. said she deeply regretted the committee’s decision and claimed the vote reinforced the view that the committee could not properly undertake its assigned work.

Brazilian Judge Bans Christian Book
The 'Gay Agenda' has been effectively diminishing religious liberty in Brazil. Christians are being sued into silence and even face jail under popular legislation.
-- From "Brazilian Christian Censored and Fined for Making 'Homophobic' Remarks in Book" by Matthew Cullinan Hoffman, LifeSiteNews 11/22/08
Naurio Martins Franca, a resident of the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, is the author of "The Curse of God on the Homosexual: The Homosexual Needs to Know the Divine Curse that is Upon Him".
The book reportedly states the Christian belief that homosexual behavior is sinful, and even "demonic", and warns those who do not repent that "he who continues being a homosexual is defying the power of God and runs a great risk."
Franca's ordeal began last year when a judge ordered his book to be pulled from bookstores after three hundred of a total of 600 printed had been sold. Following the confiscation, a group of homosexuals burned the book in a protest outside of the International Church of Grace, Franca's church.
"The book is based on the Bible, on the word of God. The law regards it as homophobia, etc.," said Pastor Franca after charges were filed. "What can I do? The Bible is being usurped through the law of man. The Bible is the law of God," .
Although Franca's attorney reportedly argued at trial that his client had the right to freely express his opinions and religious beliefs, the judge responded that such rights were outweighed by the "principles outlined in the Federal Constitution, which would be the equality and dignity of the human person" and "discrimination is not tolerated", according to a paraphrase by TV Morena.

New Brazilian Law: Christians Face 5-year Prison Sentences
-- From "Brazilian law would prohibit Christian teaching on homosexuality" posted at Catholic News Agency 7/15/08
The Brazilian Senate is considering a bill approved unanimously and without debate by the country’s House of Representatives that aims to promote homosexuality and prohibit Christian teaching on the issue, under the guise of combating discrimination.
According to the Association of the Defense of Life, the bill would make it [a] crime punishable by five years in prison to impede expressions of “homosexual affection” in public places or private places open to the public.
It would also punish those who deny employment [of] openly homosexual teachers in schools with up to three years imprisonment, making it impossible for Catholic or Christian schools to prevent homosexuals from joining their faculties.
The bill would also impose prison sentences on any kind of moral, ethical, philosophical or psychological expression that questions homosexual practices. In this way, “a priest, a pastor, a teacher or even an average citizen who says in a sermon, a classroom or public conversation that homosexual acts are sinful, disordered or an illness could be denounced and detained,” the association said.
Questions to Christians: So, who's going to step up to the plate and act boldly in the name of Christ to preserve religious liberty in this fallen world? Is not the Great Commission given to every Christian? The loss of religious liberty obviously translates to a loss of effectiveness in spreading the Gospel. Therefore, Christians must exercise their power as citizens (in the world's free countries) to maintain freedom of religion. To sit idly by and lament is not modeling Christ! Pray to God for His wisdom and guidance -- pray unceasingly, while going out into the world. God doesn't call His people to pray while cowering inside the walls of the local church, never to boldly go out and proclaim His Name.

English-Language Media Wildly Overestimates Brazilian Gay Pride Numbers
From "English-Language Media Wildly Overestimated Brazil Gay Pride Numbers, Underestimated Pro-Family March" by Matthew Cullinan Hoffman, posted 6/15/07 at Lifesite.org
Some three million Christians marched through the streets of the Brazilian metropolis of Sao Paulo last week, only three days before the annual “Gay Parade”, chanting slogans against homosexuality and affirming their religious beliefs. The “March for Jesus”, held June 7th, was organized by a major evangelical protestant ministry in Brazil and included over thirty live bands playing religious music, many placed on top of flatbed trucks that rolled through the main avenues of the city.
One minister led the crowd, paraphrasing a traditional Latin exorcism prayer with “Vade retro, Satan!”, adding “Vade retro, homosexuality!” (Get back, Satan! Get back homosexuality!). Although the Associated Press, Reuters, and other English-speaking news services claimed that only a million people attended the march, the mainstream Brazilian press widely reported that three million attended, citing the Policia Militar (Military Police).
When questioned by the media, marchers denied hostility towards homosexuals, and expressed concern for their well-being. "Through the Bible, we know that God doesn't agree with what they do," members of one church group from the Vila Carrão neighborhood of Sao Paulo told the Brazilian news service G1. "We condemn their actions, and never the people. What we want is for them to know God."
...Three days later, the nation's annual "Gay Parade" presented a stark contrast to the March for Jesus. Over one million homosexual men and women marched down the city's main thoroughfare, many without shirts and dressed in drag outfits or wearing feathers.
They carried huge banners with the rainbow symbol that has been adopted by the international homosexual movement, and demanded an end to "machismo, racism, and homophobia". Last year's march resulted in the creation of a bill, currently pending in the Brazilian Congress, to outlaw all condemnations of homosexual behavior as "homophobia". The Gay Parade organizers this year demanded that such measures be accelerated.
Unlike the March for Jesus, the Gay Parade was frequently marred by violence between participants, according to Brazilian homosexual news outlets.Read the rest of the article.

Supermodel Says: No One Waits Until Marriage. It's Impossible Not to Have Abortions.
The Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen is receiving widespread media coverage after an outburst in which she criticized the Catholic Church for its teachings on premarital sex, abortion and contraceptives.
Bundchen’s remarks follow closely on the heel’s of Pope Benedict’s visit to the Catholic country, during which visit he repeatedly restated the Church’s teachings on social issues, exhorting Brazilians to live up to the ideals that their faith professes.
Bundchen, however, called the Church’s teachings “ridiculous” in an interview with a Brazilian newspaper. At one point she made the unsubstantiated claim that in the modern world no one ever waits until marriage before having sex, even apparently calling into question the possibility that a man or woman can remain chaste until marriage.
"Today no one is a virgin when they get married ... show me someone who's a virgin!" she said. She went on, criticizing the Catholic Church’s moral teachings saying, "How is it possible to not want people to use condoms and also not have abortions? It's impossible, I'm sorry."However, in an interview with the Italian edition of “Vanity Fair” that appeared just after the supermodel made her remarks, the Brazilian soccer superstar Ricardo Izecson Santos Leite has said that both he and his wife, Caroline, were virgins when they got married. Ricardo, one of Brazil’s most successful soccer players, has long been known for both his outspoken Christian faith and his remarkable good looks. “The Bible teaches that true love waits until marriage," Ricardo told “Vanity Fair”, saying about his marriage, “If our life today is so beautiful, I think it is because we waited."

Like so many others, this woman is tragically deceived by the lies of the world. It is quite possible that is the only point of view she has ever been exposed to. The Church must publicly defend biblical morality. Waiting until marriage is not only possible, it is desirable.
