Teaching Homosexuality to Kids

We adults believe you have no morals, no self-control, no courage, no conscience.

From "Teaching homosexuality to kids" by Rebecca Hagelin, posted 7/5/07 at WorldNetDaily.com

Quick question: Who thinks there isn't enough frank sexual information forced on today's kids? Is the bar for acceptable sexual behavior still too high? You would think so when reading a recent Washington Post article titled "A More Candid Approach to Sex-Ed."

As many parents know, most sex-ed classes are already candid enough, thank you very much. The last thing we need is for anyone to spice them up or further complicate what should be a pretty simple subject. But that's what schools in Montgomery County, Md., plan to do by introducing lessons on homosexuality to eight- and 10th-graders – lessons that serve to further the radical homosexual activist agenda.

Those in eight grade, for example, may be asked to ponder their "gender identity." Is this the same thing as your actual gender, which should be, ummm, obvious by this time? No. Students are told that it's "your identification of yourself as a man or a woman, based on the gender you feel to be inside." You could be a boy trapped in a girl's body, or vice versa – or something in between, it seems. Since when did knowing one's gender get so … difficult? My goodness, isn't there enough out there to confuse our children without asking them to question whether they are really a boy or truly a girl? Have we gone mad?

Whatever your true identity, though, you can bet it is "innate," the eight-graders are told. To be certain they understand, the curriculum defines "innate" as "determined by factors present in an individual from birth." In short, gays are born, not made, so "straights" can't say homosexuality or bisexuality is wrong. (Does that apply to those who prefer bestiality or pedophilia? Just wondering …) What's needed, then, is "tolerance," which the curriculum says is "the ability to accept others' differences and allow them to be who they are without expressing disapproval." Does the same logic apply to other abnormal or harmful behaviors? Do we say, "Oh, so you're an alcoholic – good for you!" Or, "Tendencies toward kleptomania? Well, don't let me stand in your way!"? I think not.

We are teaching our children a lie – a lie that robs them of the joys of childhood and their best futures. Why shouldn't we expect the very best from them? And why are we afraid to teach them the truth? We would never tell our little boys and girls to engage in "safe drug use" or to "smoke responsibly." We don't hesitate to put our foot down in other areas of life. So why should it be different when it comes to setting standards for sexual behavior?

Rebecca Hagelin really nails it in this column. Must read!

Parents Rights Submerged by MD County's Sex-Ed Program

From "Parental rights submerged by MD county's sex-ed decision" by Jim Brown, posted 7/5/07 at OneNewsNow.com

The Christian legal group Liberty Counsel says it is considering whether to file another federal lawsuit challenging a sex-education program in Maryland's largest school district.

(<- click for audio) In the 17-page opinion, the state panel said it would not "second-guess the appropriateness" of the curriculum. It also claimed that the right of parents to control their children's upbringing "is not absolute" and "must bend to the state's duty to educate its citizens."

Excuse me?

This is becoming a pattern everywhere - including MA where 12 'pro-family legislators' recently destroyed parents rights and our own District 214. Government educators know 'what's best for our children' and parents wishes are considered irrelevant.

It's not only maddening, it's a dangerous precedent reminiscent of the some of the most repressive regimes in the world. Our children becoming virtual wards of the state...

Liberty Counsel founder Mat Staver says such a claim is contrary to common sense and American history. "Schools should not be an adversary to the parent," he says; "they should be an extension of the parents' wishes -- because, after all, they are engaged in helping the parent bring up the child in the parents' value system."

School Board Finds Gay Gene

From "Montgomery County, MD School Board Finds "Gay Gene," Violates State Board of Education Order by PFOX, posted 6/13/07

PFOX released this statement in response to the Montgomery County School Board’s approval of a new sex education curriculum for public schools:

“According to the American Psychiatric Association, there are no replicated scientific studies supporting any specific biological cause for homosexuality. But now the Montgomery County Board of Education has done what science and medicine could not do by declaring in its newly approved curriculum that homosexuality is “innate” or inborn. The board could not produce any factual evidence for what it will now teach students -- only political “pledges” and payoffs for last year’s school board elections as claimed by gay rights activists.

...When PFOX distributed flyers to the high schools urging tolerance of the ex-gay community, the faculty at multiple schools cooperated with Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) student clubs to oppose our message of tolerance.

A typical example was Winston Churchill High School where GSA students were allowed to place trash cans in the school hallways and carry trash bags labeled “PFOX” to urge all students to trash their ex-gay flyers. The principal, Dr. Joan Benz, stood by the trash cans to ensure that the protest against ex-gays would not be disturbed.

At Wootten High School, a gay teacher and co-sponsor of the school’s GSA club warned PFOX to stay out of the public schools, compared sexual preference to African-Americans’ skin color, and also compared PFOX to the Ku Klux Klan.

This discriminatory treatment is not corrected by the curriculum on teaching tolerance for sexual orientation because former homosexuals are not included in the curriculum. Why did the Board approve a curriculum that is supposed to teach respect for diverse sexual orientations when it excludes former homosexuals -- the only sexual orientation that is subject to intolerance by both students and teachers?

We wait for the Maryland State Board of Education to correct the failings of the local board and protect the civil rights of all groups, and not just gays, bisexuals and cross-dressers.”
