Sex Assault in Obama's Military Mostly Homosexual

While mainstream media focus on sexual assault of women in the military, President Obama's new secretary of defense Ashton Carter is pointing out that most victims are military men — commonly of anal sex assault and/or forced oral sex, according to a recent study.

By definition, male-on-male anal/oral sex is homosexual behavior.

-- From "Defense Secretary: 10,400 Male Troops Subjected to 'Unwanted Sexual Contact' Last Year" by Susan Jones, CNSNews.com 4/23/15

[Sec. Carter] noted that last year, far more men (10,400) than women (8,500) "experienced unwanted sexual contact."

Carter added that "too few" men reported the incidents as sexual assault.

Carter also mentioned retaliation against those who report, try to prevent or respond to sexual assault.

Carter said the nation is looking to the Defense Department to "lead boldly on sexual assault," and he promised that "stopping sexual assault will be a focus of my time as secretary of defense."

From "Experts: Males Also Are Victims of Sexual Assault" by Jim Garamone, DoD News, Defense Media Activity 2/20/15

Experts urged Army leaders to reach out to male victims of sexual assault, noting people should not view sexual violence as a crime perpetrated exclusively against women.

Jim Hopper, a psychologist and researcher, and Russell Strand, a retired Criminal Investigative Service special agent, spoke about an aspect of sexual violence not often discussed: sexual assaults on men.

So about 87 percent of men attacked are not reporting it and “these are real men in real pain,” Hopper said. The pain is compounded by shame. Being sexually assaulted brings additional feelings of shame to a man because it works against the ideal of what it means to be a man, he said.

They are also afraid of their friends or teammates finding out what happened to them, he said. They believe they will be looked at as less than a man, that they will be ostracized and shunned. And, many victims see the assault as the death-knell to their careers.

From "Federal watchdog: DOD slow in addressing sexual assault of men" by Wyatt Olson, Stars and Stripes 3/19/15

Although the Department of Defense has taken numerous steps to address sexual assaults of servicemembers in general, it still doesn’t have a clear plan for responding specifically to attacks on men, the Government Accountability Office said in a report released Thursday.

. . . A Rand Corp. survey last year estimated 9,000 to 13,000 active-duty men were sexually assaulted during the year prior to the survey. About 2,500 to 5,500 of those were described as “penetrative” sexual assaults.

The DOD has implemented a “gender-neutral” program for preventing and responding to the problem of sexual assault, an approach that does not take into consideration the significantly lower rates of reporting assault by men compared with women.

The difference in reporting “suggest that male victims of sexual assault may not have a similar level of confidence as do female victims in the process of reporting a sexual assault within the department,” the GAO said.

Obama's Defense Dept. Says Bible is Sexist

President Obama's Department of Defense has yanked its approved "sexism course" after conservative media exposed it as anti-Christian military training.  The course prepared by the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute (DEOMI) referred to the nation's founding documents — the Bible, the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence — as "historical influences that allow sexism to continue."

“The content of the lesson is provided to generate academic discussion concerning how these historical documents have been included in discussions about the topic of sexism,” Lt. Cmdr. Nate Christensen, a Defense Department spokesman, told The Daily Caller.

But following TheDC’s request for comment, the sexism course — as well as two other courses listed on DEOMI’s website, entitled “Prejudice & Discrimination” and “Racism” — were taken offline.

“This course is currently offline and under revision,” a notice says under all three courses.

The “Prejudice & Discrimination” course was recently required for some Navy personnel who work in hospitals and clinics.

Apparently, once the nature of the sexism course was brought to light, the Defense Department decided it would be a good idea to remove the controversial materials from public view, at least temporarily.

On its website, the [DEOMI] institute responsible for developing and teaching courses such as the one on sexism, racism and prejudice describes its mission: “To enhance mission readiness from development through delivery of world-class human relations education, training, and innovate solutions for our customers.”

“Slaves and women were not included until later in history,” the course said.

Obama's Cross-dressing Military Fantasy is Reality

A new analysis of a Department of Defense policy issued August 5, 2014, by legal and military experts with the Palm Center (a San Francisco-based Gay Agenda think tank), reveals that transgender personnel no longer must be placed on a path to discharge.
"By this new regulation, the Pentagon has gotten out of the business of deciding when service members are fit or unfit for duty, and that's a big policy change. . . . We're closer to transgender service than we've ever been."

-- From "Report: Loophole could allow transgender troops to serve under new DoD policy" by Patricia Kime, Staff Writer, Military Times 11/26/14

The update — to Defense Department Instruction 1332.18, Disability Evaluation System — provides a loophole for the services to let transgender troops serve instead of requiring administrative separation, the Palm Center says.

The old policy listed transgender identity as a "congenital or developmental defect" that mandated administrative separation.

The instruction issued Aug. 5 drops that provision, which the activists, including three retired flag or general officers, representatives from the ACLU, the Transgender American Veterans Association and others, say means the services now can discharge individuals with perceived defects only if those defects interfere with their performance or duty assignment.

A March 2014 report from the Transgender Military Service Commission estimates that nearly 15,500 transgender individuals serve in uniform across all branches.

From "US military urged to allow transgender troops to serve openly" by Lydia Wheeler, The Hill 11/26/14

[Because] the Department of Defense deleted its list of medically disqualifying and administratively disqualifying conditions in August. Now only conditions that impair fitness for duty or deployment qualify [for discharge].

In a joint statement issued Wednesday, retired Lt. Gen. Claudia Kennedy, Maj. Gen. Vance Coleman, Rear Adm. Jamie Barnett and seven LGBT leaders urged the military to update their noncompliant rules.

“Ultimate authority for ordering the elimination of discriminatory military policy rests with the President of the United States, and if the Services decline to comply with DOD rules, or if DOD declines to eliminate discriminatory policy, the Commander-in-Chief should take executive action to effect the change,” the statement read.

From "Transgender troops say they want to serve openly" by Patricia Kime, Staff Writer, Military Times 10/24/14

[Traditionally,] Transgenders are barred from serving openly in the U.S. military by Defense Department Instruction 6130.03, which prohibits people with "current or history of psychosexual conditions, including but not limited to transexualism, exhibitionism, transvestism, voyeurism and other paraphilias."

But transgender service members who spoke at "Perspectives on Transgender Military Service from Around the Globe," sponsored by the American Civil Liberties Union and the Palm Center, a California-based policy think tank, say sexual identity is neither a mental nor physical barrier to serving.

In late 2012, the American Psychiatric Association approved a revision to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual that eliminated the term "gender identity disorder" in favor of "gender dysphoria" to describe men and women whose biological sex conflicts with the gender in which they identify.

The drop of the word "disorder" is seen by many as an acknowledgment that the condition is not pathological, and any distress or anxiety associated with gender identification issues may be related to the angst of living in a body one doesn't believe is gender-correct and outside stressors related to the stigma of falling outside gender norms.

From "Retired US generals come out in support of allowing transgender soldiers to serve openly in military" by Robert Rizzuto, The Republican (Springfield, Mass.) 8/26/14

The three retired generals are Major General Gale S. Pollock, former acting Surgeon General of the US Army; Brigadier General Clara Adams-Ender, former Chief of the US Army Nurse Corps; and Brigadier General Thomas A. Kolditz, a Yale University professor and Professor Emeritus at the US Military Academy at West Point. They note Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel's statements in May that he is open to reviewing the military's ban on transgender service members.

"We spent three months serving on a research commission that investigated administrative aspects of transgender military service, with a view toward maintaining readiness and alignment with core military values of dignity and respect. Today, our commission releases a report, which focuses on how to implement inclusive policy in allowing transgender Americans to serve their country," the three retired generals said in a joint statement. "Our conclusion is that allowing transgender personnel to serve openly is administratively feasible and will not be burdensome or complicated. Three months have passed since Defense Secretary Hagel announced a willingness to review the military's ban on transgender service, an effort the White House indicated it supports. Our new report shows that implementation could proceed immediately and will be successful in its execution.”

Following Hagel's statements on the topic, the administration of President Barack Obama voiced support for such a review.

From "Will the Military Lift Its Ban on Transgender Troops?" by Tierney Sneed, U.S. News & World Report 10/22/14

Many people don’t realize that when Congress and President Barack Obama repealed the military’s ban on openly gay, lesbian and bisexual service members – a policy known as “don’t ask, don’t tell” – its prohibitions on transgender people openly serving remained in place. In fact, even members of the military are at times unaware of the ban, according to some panelists’ accounts of coming out.

But the pressure to change the policy appears poised to grow, as the broader transgender rights movement takes a more prominent societal role. . . .

The military’s transgender policy is embedded in medical regulations dating back to the outdated notion that gender nonconformity equated to mental illness . . .

Concerns have been raised about changes needed to be made to military protocols if the ban is lifted – from the specific health care needs of transgender people to the so-called shower question, or what would happen in scenarios that require non-transgender troops and their transgender colleagues to disrobe together.

Cross-dressing Soldiers Look Good to Pres. Obama

A sampling of media coverage of the military would suggest that the purpose of the American armed forces is not to defend the nation, but rather is to advance sexual immorality.  And now, if President Obama's Secretary of Defense chooses to enlist the ranks of the transgendered, sexual confusion will certainly reign in the once-greatest force for good on earth.
". . . every qualified American who wants to serve our country should have an opportunity if they fit the qualifications and can do it."
-- Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel

In 2010, Congress passed legislation allowing gays and lesbians to serve openly. Hagel said the issue of transgender serving in the military is more complicated. He said "these issues require medical attention" that at times cannot be provided in austere locations.

A transgender individual is someone who has acquired the physical characteristics of the opposite sex or presents themselves in a way that does not correspond with their sex at birth.

The National Center for Transgender Equality said it welcomed Hagel's comments, which were made on ABC's "This Week." The organization's executive director, Mara Keisling, said the regulations that disqualify transgender recruits and service members are based on outdated prejudices and stereotypes.

Unlike with the “don’t ask, don’t tell” law, which was repealed in 2011, Congress has passed no statute banning transgender service members, which means the policy can be changed without legislative approval. “We look forward to working with the Pentagon to end these outdated rules that harm our military,” Keisling said.

From "Hagel ‘Open’ to Reviewing Military’s Ban on Transgender People" by Helene Coppermay, New York Times 5/11/14

In the American military, transgender service members can be summarily dismissed, as Defense Department guidelines describe transgender people as sexual deviants and their condition as “paraphilia,” with its connotations of the atypical and extreme.

A panel affiliated with San Francisco State University estimated in March that more than 15,000 transgender individuals were [secretly] serving in the military and the National Guard and the Reserve. Officials who worked on that study say transgender people are overrepresented in the military, compared with the rest of America, because many male-to-female transgender individuals enlist to try to submerge their feminine sides, while many female-to-male transgender people enlist because they want to be in a hypermasculine environment.

It remains unclear whether the military will seriously review its ban on transgender people, and President Obama has not addressed the issue specifically. In 2011, speaking to a gay rights group, Mr. Obama said that “every single American — gay, straight, lesbian, bisexual, transgender — every single American deserves to be treated equally in the eyes of the law.”

From "Chuck Hagel: Military's Transgender Ban 'Should Be Reviewed'" by Mollie Reilly, The Huffington Post 5/11/14

Earlier this year, an independent commission led by former U.S. surgeon general Dr. Joycelyn Elders found there is no "compelling medical reason" for the ban.

"We determined not only that there is no compelling medical reason for the ban, but also that the ban itself is an expensive, damaging and unfair barrier to health care access for the approximately 15,450 transgender personnel who serve currently in the active, Guard and reserve components," read the commission's report.

From "LGBT Group to Obama: Sign Executive Order Opening Military to Transgenders" by Penny Starr, CNSNews.com 5/14/14

The report was compiled by what an “independent commission,” headed by former Clinton-era Surgeon General Joycelyn Elders, who was asked to step down after recommending schools teach children about masturbation as a way to avoid spreading AIDS, according to the Associated Press.

The report compared sex-change surgery and other treatments transgenders undergo to health care services that are routinely provided for all troops.

But Elaine Donnelly, president of the Center for Military Readiness, an independent, nonpartisan public policy organization focused on military/social issues, told CNSNews.com that the Palm Center is an “LGBT advocacy group,” not an “independent commission” acting outside of the center and its purpose.

Founded in 1998 as the Center for the Study of Sexual Minorities in the Military, the group changed its name to the Palm Center in 2006 in recognition of a $1 million endowment from the Michael D. Palm Foundation.

She said the lobby for transgender military service is also driven by the idea that sex reassignment surgery, hormone therapy or other treatments would become a military benefit.

“The paramount goal is self-interest,” Donnelly said, adding that the change to military law would be “yet another social experiment.”

Atheists Told, Army Will Support Day of Prayer

After suffering harsh criticism from Congress for repeated kowtowing to atheists' demands to strip religious liberty from military personnel, the Pentagon has dismissed demands from the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) to scrub any involvement with the National Day of Prayer event on Capitol Hill in May. Upon the request of Congress, the Army will send to the event a chaplain, a color guard, a vocalist and a military band.

UPDATE 5/1/14: Liberal Media Ignore 40,000 National Prayer Events

From "Group calls for DoD to withdraw from Prayer Day event" by Leo Shane III, Staff writer, Military Times 4/17/14

“The planned participation by uniformed U.S. military personnel in this private fundamentalist Christian religious event, run by a non-federal entity, is an unequivocally clear violation of [a] plethora of DoD regulations and instructions,” the [MRFF] letter states. “The U.S. military absolutely cannot endorse these searingly sectarian events by its public participation in them.”

MRFF director Mikey Weinstein said the complaint was prompted by more than two dozen senior Pentagon civilians and officers who reached out to his group, upset that military personnel would be used in the event. Weinstein would not identify those individuals, saying they fear retribution for their opposition.

The letter does not attack the National Day of Prayer observance, but rather the National Day of Prayer Task Force, a group organizing and broadcasting the Capitol Hill event. The task force has repeatedly maintained its status as a nonpartisan, nondenominational group focused on “the need to pray for the well-being of America and for those in leadership.”

Weinstein dismissed those assertions. “The National Day of Prayer Task Force is to the National Day of Prayer as what a National Football League al-Qaida chapter would be to the National Football League.”

From "Army says it will support National Day of Prayer event despite protest" by Chris Carroll, Stars and Stripes 4/18/14

The Army plans to support a National Day of Prayer event closely associated with an evangelical Christian organization despite a protest from a group that wants to crack down on what it calls fundamentalist Christian domination of the U.S. military.

Weinstein told [Secretary of Defense, Chuck] Hagel he had no issue with the non-sectarian National Day of Prayer itself as established by President Harry Truman, but said the NDP Task Force had taken over the event “to promote their rapaciously exclusivist religion as the quasi-official religion of the nation.”

Military participation in the event violates a number of DOD regulations, including prohibitions on appearing to endorse non-federal entities such as the National Day of Prayer Task Force, Weinstein said.

Not true, said National Day of Prayer Task Force vice chairman, John Bornschein. The military is sending its assets at the request of the congressman sponsoring the National Day of Prayer event, Rep. Robert Aderholt, R-Ala., rather than the non-profit organization, he said.

. . . Other national prayer observances have been held since the nation’s founding and often centered on Christianity. In 1798, President John Adams proclaimed a national day of humiliation, prayer and fasting.

Obama Shuts Down Catholic Church, with Government

Besides barricading the World War II Memorial in Washington D.C., an outdoor display open 24/7 that requires no government workers . . . President Obama's Pentagon may arrest any Catholic priest who volunteers services on government property during the partial federal government shutdown.  However, the President decided to allow the Navy vs. Air Force football game to be played as scheduled today at Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, MD -- which is owned and operated by the Department of the Navy.
“With the government shutdown, many GS [government services] and contract priests who minister to Catholics on military bases worldwide are not permitted to work – not even to volunteer.  During the shutdown, it is illegal for them to minister on base and they risk being arrested if they attempt to do so.”

One Republican lawmaker on the House Intelligence Committee told The Daily Caller on Friday that this “crosses a constitutional line.”

“The constitutional rights of those who put their lives on the line for this nation do not end with a government slowdown,” Kansas Rep. Mike Pompeo, a graduate of West Point and an Army veteran, said in a Friday statement. ”It is completely irresponsible for the president to turn his back on every American’s First Amendment rights by furloughing military contract clergy.”

Added Pompeo: “The President’s strategy during the slowdown, just as during the sequestration, is to create as much pain as possible. However, this action crosses a constitutional line of obstructing every U.S. service member’s ability to practice his or her religion.”

From "Catholic priests in military face arrest for celebrating Mass" by Todd Starnes, FoxNews.com 10/4/13

The U.S. military has furloughed as many as 50 Catholic chaplains due to the partial suspension of government services, banning them from celebrating weekend Mass. At least one chaplain was told that if he engaged in any ministry activity, he would be subjected to disciplinary action.

[Archbishop Timothy Broglio of the Archdiocese for the Military Services] said some military bases have forbidden the contract priests from volunteering to celebrate Mass without pay.

A well-placed source told me that a furloughed Air Force chaplain was threatened after he offered to forgo pay. The chaplain was told he could not go on base or enter his chapel offices. He was also barred from engaging in any ministry activity.

The source told me the chaplain was told that if he violated those orders he and his supervisor would be subjected to disciplinary action – with the possibility of being fired.

Bill Donohue, of the Catholic League, told me he’s not surprised by the decision to furlough Catholic priests. . . . “This idea of punishing Catholics in the military - denying them their priests - is consistent with the animus this administration has demonstrated,” he said.

From "Priests Risk Arrest for Offering Sacraments to Catholic Troops During Shutdown" by Michael W. Chapman, CNSNews.com 10/4/13

[John Schlageter] explained, for example, if a Catholic family has a baptism scheduled for this weekend on an Air Force base staffed by a GS or contract priest, that baptism “is most likely cancelled.” If you are stationed in Japan or Korea and served by a GS or contract priest, “then you have no choice but to go without Mass this weekend.”

Steve Skojec with CatholicVote.org said, “This is outrageous. It is a violation of the First Amendment. It is a prohibition of the free exercise of religion to order priests under penalty of arrest that they cannot volunteer their time to offer Mass to the faithful on base. This cannot be allowed to stand.”

Ashley McGuire, a senior fellow with The Catholic Association, said in a statement, "The idea that a priest would be arrested for or blocked from celebrating Mass for members of the military is something out of a totalitarian horror show. The government should do everything in its power to make sure that our servicemen and women are not punished with religious liberty violations during the government shutdown. This is yet another example of the Obama administration playing politics with our religious liberty."

The decision to play the game, made by Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel in long-distance consultation with leaders at both of the service acadamies, followed 36 hours of uncertainty.

After assurance from officials at Navy and Air Force that government funds would not be used to hold the game — or in Air Force's case, travel from Colorado Springs, Colo., to Baltimore — Hagel approved the request while on a four-day military tour of South Korea.

Army is scheduled to travel to play Boston College on Saturday.

Obama Breaks Law, Gives VA Money to Homosexuals

President Obama ordered his "justice" department to violate Title 38 of the U.S. Code governing the Veterans Administration and the Department of Defense, which designates benefits only for one-man, one-woman marriage. In carrying out the order, DOJ Attorney General Eric Holder admits that the recent Supreme Court "Windsor" decision on same-sex "marriage" did NOT address Title 38, but Holder said the Obama administration considers Title 38 unconstitutional -- no need for a judicial branch decision.

"Decisions by the Executive not to enforce federal laws are appropriately rare," Holder told Congress. "Nevertheless, the unique circumstances presented here warrant non-enforcement."

He said the Supreme Court's conclusion that DOMA imposes a stigma on everyone in same-sex marriages "would seem to apply equally" to the veterans benefits law.

Although the Supreme Court did not directly address the constitutionality of the veterans benefits provisions, the reasoning of the opinion "strongly supports the conclusion that those provisions are unconstitutional," Holder wrote.

President Barack Obama directed the executive branch to cease enforcement of the provision, Holder wrote.

President Obama goes beyond the Supreme Court's Defense of Marriage Act ruling, directing the government to stop enforcing provisions that withheld spousal benefits from legally married gay veterans.

The Obama administration has made a series of policy decisions since the Windsor decision to extend federal benefits to legally married gay couples. Wednesday's announcement went further in that it declared unconstitutional and therefore invalid an existing statute that was not considered by the Supreme Court.

Last week, the Internal Revenue Service announced that couples in same-sex marriages could file federal taxes jointly. The Office of Personnel Management has allowed same-sex spouses of federal employees to receive insurance benefits regardless of where they live. And in regard to immigration law, same-sex marriages are now treated the same as opposite-sex marriages.

Attorney General Holder announced the move in a letter to John Boehner, the speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, and emphasized its consistency with United States v. Windsor.

Holder's letter also marks an additional step from one the Obama administration took in 2012 when it informed Congress that the Justice Department would no longer defend the Title 38 provisions, but that the Executive Branch would continue to enforce them.

From "Cost of Federal Government's Benefits Expansion to Same-Sex Couples Unknown, Sources Say" by Michael Gryboski, Christian Post Reporter 9/5/13

Edmund Byrnes, spokesman for the OPM [United States Office of Personnel Management], told The Christian Post via an email sent August 1 . . . "There are numerous benefits that are affected by the Supreme Court's decision . . . [but the OPM does] not have an estimate of same sex spouses that may be added" to the federal government health insurance program (FEHB).

. . . Lt. Cmdr. Nate Christensen, spokesman for the DoD [Department of Defense], told The Christian Post via email in August that "we will assess costs as we move forward with implementation."

"Additionally, we do not have an estimate of how many people this will impact. . . ." wrote Christensen.

When CP later contacted Christensen again as to whether DoD had an estimate, he responded that "Sept. 3 is just the tip of the iceberg" and that "we won't know for some time."

. . . In addition to no present estimates for the possible costs of the expansions from OPM, the DoD, or HHS, there has been no research done by the United States Government Accountability Office.

Jennifer Ashley of the Public Affairs for GAO told The Christian Post via an email sent Wednesday morning that "we have not done any relevant work."

Pentagon Gay Agenda: Christians = 'Hate Groups'

Documents obtained by Judicial Watch, a watchdog organization, under the "Freedom of Information Act" reveal that the DOD Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute training materials teach soldiers that Christians should be considered "extremists" if they espouse a belief that homosexual behavior is sinful.
“The Obama administration has a nasty habit of equating basic conservative values with terrorism.”

The training guide warned that participation in groups that are regarded as extremist organizations is “incompatible with military service and is, therefore prohibited.”

The Pentagon did not return telephone calls seeking comment on the training materials.

“This document deserves a careful examination by military leadership,” Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton told Fox News. “Congress needs to conduct better oversight and figure out what the heck is going on in our military.”

The document relied heavily on information obtained from the Southern Poverty Law Center [SPLC], a leftwing organization that has a history of labeling conservative Christian organizations like the Family Research Council as “hate groups.”

A statement that “Nowadays, instead of dressing in sheets or publically espousing hate messages, many extremists will talk of individual liberties, states’ rights, and how to make the world a better place.”

The document details the “seven stages of hate” and sixteen “extremists’ traits.”

Of the five organizations besides the SPLC listed as resources, one is an SPLC project (Teaching Tolerance) and one considers any politically or socially conservative movement to be a potential hate group (Political Research Associates).

Other than a mention of 9/11 and the Sudan, there is no discussion of Islamic extremism.

Congress vs. Obama's Military Attack on Christians

Countering myriad anti-Christian incidents throughout the military, the U.S. House Armed Services Committee passed the 2014 NNDA defense authorization bill this week with an amendment to protect the right of religious expression, but final enactment of the provision is tenuous as President Obama's homosexualist donors contend that giving Christians such rights counteract "gay rights."
“My amendment is necessary to ensure that men and women of faith will not be discriminated against in the Armed Forces, and will be free to exercise their religious beliefs. Military service members, particularly chaplains, feel like their ability to execute their duties are being greatly limited by some of the policies and actions in the Pentagon.”

The House panel’s bill would clear the Pentagon to spend up to $552.1 billion in 2014. That level is larger than the $526.6 billion the Obama administration is seeking for the Defense Department.

HASC Chairman Howard “Buck” McKeon, R-Calif., said in a statement that he is “proud” of the bill. “Despite important disagreements on key issues, our members have never failed to come to a consensus on behalf of our fighting men and women,” he said.

Panel Ranking Member Adam Smith, D-Wash., said in a separate statement the bill has “flaws” and vowed to address those on the House floor. . . .

Lawmakers voted against an amendment Wednesday that would allow atheist chaplains to serve in the U.S. military, arguing that the appointment of an atheist to chaplaincy contradicts the purpose of a chaplain – to offer prayer and spiritual guidance to servicemen and women.

New Jersey Rep. Andrews argued that he proposed the amendment not to be controversial, but rather to simply offer atheists in the military the same private counseling offered to religious military members.

The text of the amendment directs the Secretary of Defense to appoint "humanists, ethical culturalists, and atheists" to the Chaplain Corps of the Armed Forces.

From "House panel adopts ‘conscience’ amendment to defense bill" by Chris Johnson, Washington Blade 6/5/13

A House panel on Wednesday approved as part of major defense legislation an amendment that would make it easier for troops to harass their gay comrades without fear of reprisal.

President Obama signed the existing “conscience provision” under Section 533 as part of the Fiscal Year 2013 Defense Authorization Act. At the time of the signing, Obama called it “unnecessary” and said he was signing the defense package under assurances the Pentagon wouldn’t “permit or condone discriminatory actions that compromise good order and discipline or otherwise violate military codes of conduct.”

LGBT [lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender] groups expressed disappointment over the adoption of the amendment and said it reflects a continued discontent among those who opposed “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” repeal.

. . . the measure requires the Pentagon to implement regulations within 120 days after the bill becomes law. The defense secretary must consult with “official military faith-group representatives who endorse military chaplains” before the regulations are issued.

From "Soldier Reprimanded Over Promotion Party Featuring Chick-fil-A Sandwiches" by Dave Bohon, New American 6/7/13

A U.S. Army soldier was disciplined after he hosted a party for his promotion to the rank of master sergeant and served Chick-fil-A sandwiches in honor of traditional marriage. The unidentified serviceman's promotion coincided with the controversy that erupted last year over Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy's comments in favor of traditional marriage. Homosexual activist groups launched a high-profile boycott of the fast-food chain, which backfired when tens of thousands of Christians nationwide countered with a “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day” that brought record sales for the company.

According to Ron Crews of the group Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty, the serviceman was investigated, reprimanded, threatened with judicial action, and given a bad efficiency report after he sent invitations that read, “In honor of my promotion and in honor of the Defense of Marriage Act, I’m serving Chick-fil-A sandwiches at my promotion party.”

Crews told Fox News that Army officials said the soldier was “no longer a team player and was not performing up to standards. This is just one little example of a case of a soldier just wanting to express his views and now he’s been jumped on by the military.”

Army Computers Label Baptist Website as 'Hostile'

After myriad recent instances of military hostility toward Catholics and Evangelical Christians, the Army was quick to blame the most recent debacle on the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). Hundreds of military personnel reported that their base computers responded with a warning of "hostile content" when they tried to access the SBC website, which Army officials say was caused by Army computers detecting malicious software on the SBC website.

Chaplains with the Southern Baptist Convention said the U.S. military has blocked access to its website on bases around the nation, calling the content “hostile” and inappropriate.

Chaplains told Fox News that SBC.net had been censored, and those trying to access the site at various military bases were greeted with a warning: “The site you have requested has been blocked by Team CONUS … due to hostile content,” Fox News reported. Team CONUS is in charge of the computer network for the Defense Department, Fox News said.

“The Department of Defense is not intentionally blocking access to this site,” Lt. Col. Damien Pickart said on Fox News. “We are working diligently to investigate what might be causing access issues for some of our service members and to correct the situation as quickly as possible.”

From "Southern Baptist website blocked by malware, not Army" by Bob Smietana, The Tennessean 4/26/13

Lt. Col. Damien Pickart, a Defense Department spokesman, said the military has software filters to ban pornography and gambling sites and to detect malware, malicious software that can harm other computers. One of those filters caught the malware on the Baptist site.

That malware has since been removed, said Pickart, and the Baptist site was unblocked Thursday afternoon.

But the incident has revealed cracks in the traditionally close ties between the military and conservative Christians.

Southern Baptist spokesman Roger “Sing” Oldham called the situation “deeply disturbing” in a statement Wednesday.

Oldham said he was glad the military was able to find the problem. He said SBC employees were working on removing the malware and updating the system to better protect it from viruses.

From "Pentagon Blocks, Says it Will Free Access to Southern Baptist Website" by Todd Starnes, Foxnews.com 4/25/13

Hundreds of Southern Baptist military personnel and chaplains across the nation reported earlier this week they could no longer access the SBC.net website on base computers. Instead, they received a message saying the website had been blocked due to “hostile content.”

The block was first made public by an Army officer who contacted the American Family Association. They sent an action alert urging its members to contact the Pentagon and ask them to “stop the military’s alarming trend of hostility towards faith and religious freedom in our military.”

Ron Crews, executive director of the Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty, told Fox News that Southern Baptist military chaplains were among those unable to access the website.

“It’s a concern for the Dept. of Defense to block the website of one of the major evangelical denominations in the country,” Crews told Fox News. “The Southern Baptist Convention has the largest number of chaplains in the military representing Southern Baptist soldiers and churches. Those chaplains need access to their denomination’s website.”

Pres. Obama Shifts Defense Funds to Homosexuals

As huge budget cuts are made in the U.S. military to counter the ever-increasing federal government deficit spending, President Obama has bypassed Congress to bestow new entitlements to deviant sex partners of members of the military.  This new government spending will be paid from taxpayers' money that otherwise would have been used to defend Americans.

The president says that the "unconstitutional and unfair" Defense of Marriage Act of 1996 is limiting how much money he can divert to the homosexuals.

"President Obama continues to expand the government's financial obligations to support his liberal social agenda during a time when this Administration has imposed drastic budget cuts to our military readiness and national security."
-- Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.)

UPDATE 2/19/13 Clarification: Only homosexuals are eligible for extended benefits, not heterosexuals

-- From "Pentagon announces extension of benefits to same-sex partners" by Lucy Madison, CBS News 2/11/13

Just weeks after lifting the ban on women in combat, the Defense Department announced yet another groundbreaking decision today, making official the extension of some military benefits to same-sex partners previously denied them.

In a statement, outgoing Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said the military would no longer provide some benefits to heterosexual couples while denying them to same-sex partners in the military.

"Seventeen months ago, the United States military ended the policy of 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell,'" Panetta said today in a statement announcing the decision. "At the time of repeal, I committed to reviewing benefits that had not previously been available to same-sex partners based on existing law and policy. It is a matter of fundamental equity that we provide similar benefits to all of those men and women in uniform who serve their country."

The 20 benefits include education, hospital visitation, casualty notification, travel, transportation, identification cards, family counseling, relocation assistance, recreation programs and other benefits that will be available to gay and lesbian couples who sign a declaration attesting to their committed relationship.

[Secretary Panetta said Monday,] "Taking care of our service members and honoring the sacrifices of all military families are two core values of this nation. Extending these benefits is an appropriate next step under current law to ensure that all service members receive equal support for what they do to protect this nation."

Panetta said additional benefits for same-sex couples "will require substantial policy revisions and training" but will be available "as expeditiously as possible."

From "Partners of Gays in Service Are Granted Some Benefits" by Thom Shanker, New York Times 2/11/13

Full benefits would require the repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act, a 1996 law that defined marriage as the union of a man and a woman. The Pentagon lifted the ban on openly gay men and lesbians serving in the armed forces, but it cannot recognize their marriages, even if they are legal in some states, because military personnel are federal employees covered by the marriage law.

The Supreme Court is expected to rule this summer on whether the law is constitutional.

“Additional benefits, such as health care and housing allowances, are by statute currently only available to spouses and therefore cannot be made available to same-sex domestic partners of service members under current law,” Defense Secretary Leon E. Panetta wrote in a letter released by the Pentagon.

“In the event that the Defense of Marriage Act is no longer applicable to the Department of Defense, it will be the policy of the department to construe the words ‘spouse’ and ‘marriage’ without regard to sexual orientation,” he added, “and married couples, irrespective of sexual orientation, and their dependents will be granted full military benefits.”

From "Same-sex military couples to get expanded access to benefits, Pentagon says" by Ernesto Londoño and Craig Whitlock, Washington Post 2/11/13

The Pentagon estimates that about 5,600 active-duty and roughly 3,400 National Guard servicemembers have same-sex spouses [sic].

The biggest lingering question is whether the department might be able to offer on-base housing to same-sex couples. The Pentagon decided not to do so for the time being because on-base housing is scarce and because legal experts worried that doing so could have contravened the “spirit” of the federal marriage law, a defense official told reporters.

News last week about the impending announcement generated supportive statements from Capitol Hill and did not appear to draw significant criticism from groups that have in the past raised concerns about allowing openly gay people to serve in the armed forces.

Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) [said] . . . "The Department of Defense is essentially creating a new class of beneficiary that will increase costs and demand for limited resources that are currently available for military families, active and reserve forces, and retirees."

Inhofe also suggested Obama used semantics to merely give the appearance of respecting the Defense of Marriage Act:

"In a weak attempt to not violate the Defense of Marriage Act, the Administration is using a play on words by saying 'same sex domestic partners' can have access to benefits instead of 'spouses.' We are on a slippery slope here. Why would the DoD extend benefits to same-sex partners and then deny cohabiting heterosexual couples the same benefits?"

From "Conservatives Blast Pentagon Deal to Give Full Pay to Homosexuals Booted from Military" by Pete Winn, CNSNews.com 1/9/13

Conservatives are blasting a deal reached by the American Civil Liberties Union and the Obama administration to give full separation pay to more than 180 service members discharged from the military for homosexuality since 2004.

On Monday, the administration reached a settlement with the ACLU on a class-action lawsuit by agreeing to pay approximately $2.4 million in full separation pay – money that was withheld from those veterans who were tossed out of the service for violating the then-existing law against military service by homosexuals.

But Elaine Donnelly, president of the Center for Military Readiness, told CNSNews.com that the government is catering to homosexual activists with the settlement.

The conservative analysts say that service members who engaged in homosexuality while in the military don’t deserve extra pay, because they did more than run afoul of Defense Department administrative regulations -- they violated a federal law that made homosexuality in the military illegal.
