Undercover Homosexual Methodist 'Pastors' Exposed

More than a hundred male and female American leaders in the United Methodist Church joined together this week to formally admit they've been falsely serving in local churches by concealing their claims to deviant sexuality.  Their announcement comes as the UMC quadrennial global General Conference begins in Portland, Oregon where these renegades will attempt to force their personal predilections upon the world-wide traditionally Christian denomination that believes homosexual behavior is incompatible with church teaching.
". . . this public relations campaign is designed to overwhelm our denomination’s infrastructure until traditionalists abandon their theological moorings."
-- Rev. Tom Lambrecht, Vice President and General Manager of Good News (representing UMC Christians who hold to Scriptural Authority)

-- From "Defying church ban, dozens of Methodist clergy come out as gay and lesbian" by Daniel Burke, CNN Religion Editor 5/9/16

Dozens of United Methodist clergy members came out as lesbian, gay or bisexual on Monday, defying their church's ban on "self-avowed practicing homosexuals" serving in ministry and essentially daring their supervisors to discipline them.

In a public letter posted online, 111 pastors, deacons, elders and candidates for ministry said church rules require "that we not bring our full selves to ministry, that we hide from view our sexual orientations and gender identities."

A spokesman for Reconciling Ministries Network, [a renegade UMC] LGBT advocacy group that organized the letter, said that about 80% of the 111 signatories are coming out to their supervisors for the first time. In addition to gay and lesbian clergy, the letter was also signed by intersex and transgender pastors, who are not technically excluded from ministry.

Monday's missive follows a similar letter issued by 15 Methodist ministers in New York, who also openly acknowledged that they are gay or lesbian.

A council of African bishops issued a statement last September urging Methodists to "submit to the teachings of Scripture that God designed marriage to be between man and woman."

From "As United Methodists meet, 111 clergy come out as gay, defy church ban" by Greg Garrison, The Birmingham News 5/11/16

The United Methodist Church, the nation's second-largest Protestant denomination with 7.4 million members [in the U.S.], has debated homosexuality at its General Conference every four years for four decades.

While the U.S. membership in the denomination has declined, membership in Africa has expanded, and those members have an increasingly important voice in the General Conference debates. While the U.S. leadership has become more accepting of homosexuality, the newer African members have held the conservative line.

While the number of United Methodists in Africa grows by about 250,000 members a year, the number of U.S. United Methodists shrinks every year, by more than 50,000.

Africans will constitute about 30 percent of the 864 delegates to this year's General Conference.

Without the church's growing global membership, the United Methodists would very likely have taken a turn towards acceptance of gay marriage, like several other mainline Protestant denominations . . .

From "United Methodist lawmaking body to weigh LGBT issues" by Holly Meyer, The Tennessean 5/10/16

The United Methodist Church does not permit its clergy to officiate same-sex marriages, but that divisive issue and others regarding full inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender members are up for debate as the denomination convenes its top policy-making body this week in Portland, Ore.

Delegates from across the globe will consider more than 100 pieces of legislation regarding human sexuality at the General Conference, which meets every four years to decide the future direction of the second-largest Protestant denomination in the United States. It counts about 12.8 million members worldwide.

The 864 delegates gathering at the Oregon Convention Center have the power to revise church law, pass resolutions on social and public policy and adopt churchwide budgets and plans. While LGBT concerns are in the spotlight, the General Conference is considering a plethora of issues. The gathering started Tuesday afternoon with a worship celebration and concludes May 20.

From "Good News responds to clergy coming out letter" by Jay Voorhees, Executive Editor, United Methodist Reporter 5/9/16

The Rev. Tom Lambrecht, Vice President and General Manager of Good News, an organization that has advocated for the retention of the current United Methodist teaching on homosexuality, released a statement this afternoon in response to the letter from 111 UM clergy identifying themselves as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer/Questioning, and Intersex (LGBTQI).

“Unfortunately, the statement comes across more like a manifesto for an orchestrated campaign to influence General Conference than a ‘Love Letter to the Church,’” Lambrecht wrote.

Lambrecht addressed the concerns raised by the letter writers about their need to hide parts of themselves as they carry out  the work of ministry:
The letter talks about LGBTQI persons being forced to hide parts of themselves in order to engage in ministry. No one is forcing LGBTQI persons to hide their identities. That is a choice that they are making. The church has always been straightforward about what is acceptable behavior for clergy. Having same-sex attractions or being LGBTQI is not a bar to ordained ministry. Engaging in sexual relationships outside monogamous heterosexual marriage is a bar to ordained ministry. The line is clear. It is LGBTQI persons who have chosen to cross that line and yet pretend to fulfill their ordination vows. Such an action constitutes a fundamental lack of integrity that undermines the doctrine, discipline, and unity of the church.

From "United Methodists may never agree on LGBT issues. Can they stay together anyway?" by Michelle Boorstein, Washington Post 5/9/16

Disputes over human sexuality appear to many to be most pressing [for the UMC General Conference]. This is in part because United Methodists have not changed their stance on homosexuality, whereas much of mainline Protestantism has in some way. The United Methodist Book of Discipline – the group’s book of law and doctrine – calls homosexuality “incompatible with Christian teaching.” The church has also seen huge controversy in recent years as pastors have begun openly bucking the ban on officiating at same-sex weddings, and high-profile disciplinary trials have embarrassed many Methodists.

According to the United Methodist News Service, the conference will weigh more than 100 pieces of legislation on human sexuality. Delegates from dozens of countries will consider the possibility of full inclusion of LGBT people, the “agree to disagree” option, whether gay people can be ordained, the question of officiating at same-sex weddings, whether such weddings can be held in Methodist churches and whether the current Book of Discipline wording should remain.

The United Methodist News Service lists “church structure and powers” as the first of top, broad issues to be voted upon this month. The most broad is a measure asking whether Methodists “can create a global Book of Discipline that says: ‘Here’s what we agree upon worldwide,’ and then one for each area of the world to help us deal with our own cultures,” said the Rev. Tom Berlin, a delegate from the Floris United Methodist Church in Herndon, Va. “The issue is: What questions belong to the whole, and what questions belong to the parts?”

From "Charlotte gay wedding defies United Methodist Church rules" by Tim Funk, The Charlotte Observer 4/24/16

. . . [Rev. Val Rosenquist, 59,] the pastor of Charlotte’s First United Methodist Church and a retired bishop [Melvin Talbert] who once did jail time with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. decided to go ahead over the weekend and preside at the wedding of John Romano and Jim Wilborne.

The two Charlotte men became the first same-sex couple in North Carolina to get married – at least publicly – in a United Methodist church.

They said the Saturday wedding was attended by more than 250 people – including about 30 supportive United Methodist clergy. Also in attendance: Charlotte Mayor Jennifer Roberts, who is a friend of the couple’s.

Last August, [Rosenquist] said, the leadership board at First United Methodist voted that any member of the church could get married in the sanctuary, even if that defied the [UMC] Book of Discipline.

The 81-year-old Talbert, a retired United Methodist bishop based in Nashville and a one-time leader of the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee, spent three days and three nights in a jail cell with King in 1960. He called his disobedience of Methodist rules against same-sex marriage an act of “biblical obedience.”

On Sunday, Talbert delivered the sermon at First United Methodist Church, telling about 150 people in the pews that, like African-Americans, women and other past victims of discrimination, LGBT persons are being ridiculed and ostracized “simply because of the way God created them.”

From "Methodists call themselves the ‘church of the big tent.’ Why one minister is camping outside." by Julie Zauzmer, Washington Post 4/5/16

[His daughter Sarah] was the inspiration for [UMC Rev. Michael Tupper's] activism – and the first lesbian bride he married.

[Sarah] and her wife met at the preeminent evangelical university Wheaton College — despite the fact that Tupper, suspecting that his teenage daughter was lesbian, told her that if she were lesbian she should not go to Wheaton.

Tupper reached a sort of out-of-court settlement in the United Methodist Church’s judicial system. He knew when he agreed to officiate [the same-sex wedding] that he might be defrocked for it . . . But Tupper was cleared to continue ministry at his church near Kalamazoo, Mich.

Then he performed his second gay wedding, that of a fellow United Methodist minister who was banned from his pulpit when he came out as gay. Tupper expected, after he helped officiate Benjamin Hutchison’s wedding, that he would face a church trial.

But the trial never came.

From "Female Methodist pastor admits she's gay during church service, stunning worshippers" by Czarina Ong, Christian Today 1/19/16

Nobody was prepared for Pastor Cynthia Meyer's coming out declaration during the Edgerton United Methodist Church's first sermon this 2016, but the 53-year-old Kansas pastor decided then that it was the best time for her to serve "with full authenticity and as my genuine self—as a woman who loves and shares my life with another woman."

Meyer risks being sacked because of her pronouncement, but she insists that her conscience is clear because she keeps "faith with the church by challenging it to keep faith with the Gospel."

Conservative Methodists, on the other hand, are not condoning Meyer's vocal support of same-sex relationships and marriages.

They wrote: "We simply cannot abandon the Bible's teachings on the practice of homosexuality and same-sex marriage. Your proposal would put us, who believe that same-sex relations are sinful, in the position of having to deny our consciences. This new policy is simply asking us to do something we cannot do."

From "New York United Methodist Body Says It Will Ignore Church's Rules on Gay Clergy" by Michael Gryboski, Christian Post Reporter 3/3/16

The New York Annual Conference's Board of Ordained Ministry released a statement Tuesday noting that they will no longer consider the sexual orientation or gender identity of an ordination candidate.

The Rev. William B. Pfohl, chair of the NYAC BOOM and chief signatory of the statement, told The Christian Post that the . . . final vote on the released statement took place on Feb. 20, with a supermajority of the New York board approving the standards via secret ballot.

NYAC is not the only conference in the UMC that has recently announced its decision to ignore the denomination's ordination rules regarding homosexual practice.

Last month the Board of Ordained Ministry of the Baltimore-Washington Conference announced that they recommended a married lesbian to a provisional deacon position.

America's First All-Gay K-12 School: Atlanta

“Pride School Atlanta” is being launched from the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta by a middle-aged transgender entrepreneur (currently) named Christian Zsilavetz to provide a $13,000-annual-tuition, non-judgmental education that is “free of homophobia and transphobia” for any student considered “different.”  However, the unanswered question is, Who is labeling the children, as young as five, as gay?

Their first student could be this 6-year-old girl (who WAS a 52-year-old man).

And, their first teacher could be any one of these sexual-predator homosexual teachers.

For background on how America's PUBLIC schools are "going gay," read President Obama Forces Wildest Transgender Agenda on Children Using Full Force of Federal Government and now Hillary Clinton Promises Even MORE 'Transgender/Gay Rights'

-- From "Atlanta to open first-ever pride school for LGBT students" by Kerry Cardoza, Chicago Sun-Times 1/7/16

“Kids have full permission to be themselves — as well as educators. Where there’s no wondering, ‘Is this teacher going to be a person for me to be myself with?’” Zsilavetz told the AP.

According to the school’s website, the teaching model offers a flexible curriculum with “no mandatory homework or testing.” The open-learning model is designed to encourage students to pursue subjects they are interested in.

From "New Georgia School to Target Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender" posted by Tony Pottson, Coosa Valley News (Rome, GA) 1/4/16

The school would be modeled after the Harvey Milk school in New York City and other education centers across the country designed for, but not limited to, LGBT youth.

According to the school’s website “All students will have the freedom, responsibility, and support to create their own individualized curriculum, education, and school climate through trust and democratic decision-making processes. Sometimes students thrive on structure in their day, and at other times freedom. In our model, borrowed from longstanding schools around the world, curriculum is flexible and there is no mandatory homework or testing. Students are free to discover what, when and how they prefer to learn, trusted that their natural curiosity and desire to pursue personal goals will lead them to a rigorous and rich education. Each day will be full of opportunities for each member of the Pride School Family to become the best person they can be, ready to face the world with confidence, knowledge, and the ability to help others do the same.”

From "School for LGBT youth called first of its kind in Georgia" by Rose French, The Associated Press 1/4/16

It is part of a small but growing group of schools popping up nationally geared toward educating LGBT youth, who feel disenfranchised from public education. Pride School would be the first of its kind in the Southeast and, according to gay rights advocates, a significant development for the LGBT movement.

Zsilavetz, 45, who's taught math and other subjects since 1992, says he never felt truly open or supported by administrators while teaching in public schools and wanted that to change. He wanted LGBT students and teachers to be able to openly discuss who they are in a school setting without fear.

From "Atlanta To Feature New School Aimed At Gay Kids" by Blake Neff, Reporter, Daily Caller 1/5/16

“Pride School Atlanta admits students of any race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, age, disability, affectional preference, sexual orientation, marital or relationship status, gender identity or gender expression to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school,” the school-to-be says on its website.

Besides being intended for gay and transgender students, the school also hopes to create a welcoming environment for transgender teachers who may encounter hostility in a public school environment.

The school isn’t the first one to put a focus on gay students. New York City actually has a public high school, Harvey Milk High School, that is designed for LGBT students. Pride School, though, will be K-12, and it is the first school of its kind built in the conservative American South.

Man, 52, Newly Adopted, Becomes 6-year-old Girl

Paul Wolscht, abandoned his wife Maria and seven children, then subsequently was "adopted" into a sexually-deviant family of a polyamorous woman with her male partner (a homosexual pedophile who sodomizes Wolscht as if Wolscht were a young boy), so Wolscht, believing he's a prepubescent girl named Stefonknee, claims the label of "trans-aged transgender" — and this is being embraced as legitimate!
“Well, I have a mummy and a daddy… adopted mummy and daddy who are totally comfortable with me being a little girl. And their children, and their grandchildren, are totally supportive. In fact, her youngest granddaughter… When I was eight. A year ago, I was eight, and she was seven. And she said to me, ‘I want you to be the little sister, so I’ll be nine.’ I said, ‘Well, I don’t mind going to six.’ So I’ve been six ever since… But, we have a great time. We color, we do kids stuff. It’s called play therapy. No medication, no suicide thoughts. And I just get to play.”

After splitting from Maria, she moved to Toronto to live as woman and began hormone replacement therapy in 2009.

But then her life began to fall apart. She lost her job as a mechanic after customers couldn't accept her being transgender, slept in a homeless shelter and attempted suicide.

Aged 46, after 23 years of marriage, Stefonknee decided she was transgender.

Stefonknee’s wife told her to either “stop being trans or leave,” prompting her decision to move out of the family home, reports The Sun.

Stefonknee, who previously went by the name Paul, worked as a mechanic and was a dedicated member of the Catholic church, says she was trans before she got married to Maria after high school, but wasn’t educated about what that meant, and was terrified of being different.

. . . Stefonknee said she first realized she was different from other boys as early as age six, because she was always jealous of the girls at school who got to wear new dresses on picture day.

Stefonknee, who then went by her given name Paul, began dating a woman named Maria in high school, and they later married. Maria was surprised by Paul’s love of women’s clothing, but was initially supportive, and even bought him an outfit.

‘The next day, she bought me a black pleated skirt, a white blouse, and a grey camisole… so then I had an ally.’

But while Maria was supportive of her husband’s cross-dressing, she did not accept him as transgender.

. . . Stefonknee has now found acceptance at Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto, where much of the congregation is made up of LGBT members who have formed a special support group just for her.

'Gay Marriage' Still/More Unpopular, Polls Show

New mainstream (liberal) polls show that Americans are less supportive of same-sex "marriage" after the June Supreme Court decision and that the majority of Americans were never supportive in the first place.  Polls also continue to show that Americans value religious liberty over "gay rights" demands to force Christians to celebrate deviant sexual behavior.

The [AP-GfK] poll found 42 percent of voters support gay marriage, while 40 percent oppose it.

Similarly, 47 percent of the poll's respondents said local officials should be required to issue same-sex marriage licenses, even if they have religious objections to the practice, while 49 percent said officials who are personally opposed to gay marriage should be exempt from the new requirements.

Asked directly about their opinion of the Supreme Court's ruling, 39 percent of the poll's respondents said they approved of the Justices' decision, and 41 percent said they disapproved.

From "AP Poll: Sharp divisions after high court backs gay marriage" by David Crary and Emily Swanson, Associated Press 7/21/15

The Supreme Court's ruling last month legalizing same-sex marriage nationwide has left Americans sharply divided, according to an Associated Press-GfK poll that suggests support for gay unions may be down slightly from earlier this year.

Overall, if there's a conflict, a majority of those questioned think religious liberties should win out over gay rights, according to the poll. While 39 percent said it's more important for the government to protect gay rights, 56 percent said protection of religious liberties should take precedence.

. . . The percentage saying they favor legal same-sex marriage in their state was down slightly from the 48 percent who said so in an April poll. In January, 44 percent were in favor.

Asked specifically about the Supreme Court ruling, 39 percent said they approve and 41 percent said they disapprove.

. . . 59 percent think wedding-related businesses should be allowed to refuse service to same-sex couples, compared with 52 percent in the earlier poll. By comparison, 46 percent said businesses in general should be allowed to refuse service because of their religious principles, while 51 percent said that should not be allowed.

. . . 65 percent of Democrats but only 22 percent Republicans favored allowing same-sex couples to legally marry in their state.

Most Democrats said it was more important for the government to protect gay rights, 64 percent to 32 percent. Most Republicans said it was more important to protect religious liberties than gay rights, 82-17.

And 7 in 10 Republicans, but just 3 in 10 Democrats, said local officials with religious objections should be exempt from issuing marriage licenses.

From "Gay marriage: mainline denominations affirm SCOTUS" by David Roach, chief national correspondent for Baptist Press 7/20/15

With a new Associated Press poll suggesting decreased support for same-sex marriage among Americans generally, a watchdog group that monitors mainline [Christian church] bodies said gay-affirming denominations are more progressive regarding marriage than the culture.

Less than a week after the court's June 26 ruling, the General Convention of the Episcopal Church amended the church's canons to allow marriage between people of the same gender. Deputies, as the Episcopal Church calls delegates to its convention, also authorized liturgies that can be used at same-sex weddings, according to Episcopal News Service.

Leaders of the PCUSA said in a June 26 statement released by the denomination's office in Louisville, Ky., "The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) is celebrating the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that same-gender couples have a constitutional right to marry nationwide, striking down bans in 14 states. Church leaders believe today's ruling is a step in the right direction as society's views have continued to change in recent years."

The United Church of Christ, which affirmed gay marriage in 2005, issued a June 26 news release "celebrating the decision of the U.S. Supreme Court to affirm marriage equality for all people."

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) both released statements expressing division within their fellowships regarding the Supreme Court ruling.

Currently Shaw is also a visiting scholar at Stanford’s Center for Advanced Study in Behavior Sciences.  A historian and theologian, she has authored a number of books and is currently working on a book on spirituality and mysticism in the early 20th century.

Shaw received her undergraduate degree from the University of Oxford and holds an MDiv from Harvard and a Ph.D. in history from UC-Berkeley.  Prior to joining Grace Cathedral, she taught history and theology for 16 years at Oxford where she was Dean of Divinity and Fellow of New College.

ObamaNation: Homosexual Victory 'Pride Parades'

This weekend, with key leadership from President Obama, in cities large and small across America, adoring media are lauding the flaunting of apparent, albeit short-lived (from an eternal perspective), hedonistic defeat of a once righteous and God-fearing nation.
“It’s fun to have a community come together and be proud of who we are.”

[There were] roughly 500 people dotting the streets of downtown Council Bluffs to watch pride flags, drag queens, proud people and even a rainbow-colored shaggy dog in the parade for the 2014 Heartland Pride Festival.

A record-setting 41 parade floats, since the metro area’s first official Pride Parade in 1988, moved along Pearl Street. Organizations represented included the Council Bluffs Community Alliance, Union Pacific, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, area churches and several others.

Helen Broadway-Savage, parade chairwoman, said LGBTQIA (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersexual and asexual) “is starting to become less and less of an issue.”

In between muscular men in speedos gyrating to thumping dance music and drag queens decked out in formal gowns, Salt Lake City's gay pride parade also featured a few, more conventional participants: Some of America's most well-known companies.

From Starbucks to eBay to Macy's, the increasing visibility of corporations at the parade in Utah and at others across the country in recent years comes as same-sex marriage bans fall in the courts . . .

At many companies, support for pride parades and festivals is being fueled by internal Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender councils who are given small budgets and freedom to spend that money where they choose.

The continued transformation of the parades from small, defiant, sexually daring protests to family-friendly, mainstream celebrations has been on full display this summer as new companies join businesses that have been supporting the cause for years.

TD Bank has been sponsoring gay pride parades and festivals in various cities since 2009. The company said it spends nearly $1 million annually on LGBT events and initiatives in the U.S. and Canada. This year, the company is sponsoring 20 gay pride parades.

Sexually Confused Chaplain at National Cathedral

Preaching at today's "worship service" at the National Cathedral in Washington D.C. is an ordained Episcopal (ECUSA) priest who is touted as the first openly transgender priest to do so. The Rev. Dr. Cameron Partridge, 40, who first partnered as a lesbian decades ago and then later, while claiming to be a man, married that same female partner (now raising two pre-pubescent sons), is currently the Episcopal chaplain at Boston University with the goal of influencing the development of young adults.
[College is] “an amazing time to explore one’s faith, one’s tradition, to explore how their intellectual life and their sense of vocation connect with their broader sense of who they are.”

[As Dr. Partridge preaches,] The Right Rev. Gene Robinson, the first openly gay Episcopal bishop, will preside at the service. It’s part of the cathedral’s celebration of LGBT pride month.

The service will also include readings and prayers from members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

The Very Ref. Gary Hall, dean of the cathedral, says he hopes Partridge’s appearance “will send a symbolic message in support of greater equality for the transgender community.”

Most evangelical Christians believe gender identity is determined by God.

"Is my sex determined by my decision in my mind, or by God's design in my nature?" theologian John Piper asked in a post on the DesiringGod blog.

"Whom we should worship is not left to our preferences, and who we are sexually is not left to our preferences. Both are dictated by God's revelation in nature," Piper said.

From "New Episcopal Chaplain a Role Model" by Rich Barlow, Boston University Today 11/18/11

In clerical black and collar, there is no physical hint that the bearded and bespectacled chaplain was once female. . . .

As he takes over the University’s part-time Episcopalian chaplaincy, Partridge, who lives outside Boston with his wife and their toddler son, says he wants to minister with the empathy that has sometimes been denied him since he completed his transition to a man in 2001. His father, for example, no longer speaks to him. “It’s not my choice,” he says. (Most family and friends accepted him after long conversations.)

Pondering a gender change began with his doctoral studies at Harvard Divinity School in the ’90s. “I was out as gay at that point,” he recalls. . . . With the change, “I felt like I was able to kind of reclaim the body that God had given me.”

[Student] Sean Glenn (STH’13) first encountered Partridge at evening prayer early in the fall semester . . . Glenn says Partridge introduced him to “queer readings of scripture,” which interpret biblical passages according to gay believers’ experience.

While a student at all-female Bryn Mawr College in 1995, Partridge came out as gay and embraced a call to the priesthood. Partridge then graduated from Harvard Divinity School, transitioned from female to male, was ordained an Episcopal priest, got married and completed his doctorate. Today, he’s a religion scholar at Harvard Divinity School and an Episcopal chaplain at Boston University.

Q: As a young woman attending Bryn Mawr, you came out as a lesbian, but also, in a way, as a religious person. How so?

A: When I got to college I’d been quietly wrestling with my sense of vocation for a few years. I felt drawn to academic work — ultimately in gender, sexuality and religion — but I also sensed a call to the priesthood.

Q: You’re married to a woman who was your partner when you both were women. And now, as a married straight couple, you’re a pretty conventional-looking family. But you don’t really like the designation “straight couple.”

A: On the one hand, I am read as a member of a heterosexual couple . . . Here’s the bottom line — perhaps cliche but true: This is about love. I love my spouse and my children. I love being a husband and a dad.

'Gay Marriage' is Christian in Presbyterian PCUSA

By a 3-to-1 margin, leaders of the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. now believe that their clergy should sanction what God Almighty has declared, for eternity past and future, an abomination in His eyes.
Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness. . . . It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were cast into the sea than that he should cause one of these little ones to sin.

-- From "Presbyterian Assembly: Gay Marriage Is Christian" by Jeff Karoub and Rachel Zoll, Associated Press 6/19/14

The amendment [that marriage can be the union of "two people," not just "a man and a woman"] approved Thursday by the Presbyterian General Assembly requires approval from a majority of the 172 regional presbyteries, which will vote on the change over the next year. But in a separate policy change that takes effect at the end of this week's meeting, delegates voted to allow ministers to preside at gay weddings in states where the unions are legal and local congregational leaders approve. Nineteen states and the District of Columbia recognize same-sex marriage.

The votes, during a national meeting in Detroit, were a sweeping victory for Presbyterian gay-rights advocates. The denomination in 2011 eliminated barriers to ordaining clergy with same-sex partners, but ministers were still barred from celebrating gay marriages and risked church penalties for doing so. Alex McNeill, executive director of More Light Presbyterians, a gay advocacy group, said the amendment was "an answer to many prayers."

But Bill Norton, of the Presbytery de Cristo, which covers parts of Arizona and New Mexico, urged the assembly to delay any changes. "We are laying hands on something that is holy, that God has given us, so we need to be sure any changes we make are in accord with God's will revealed in Scripture," Norton said.

From "Presbyterians vote to allow gay marriage by whopping 3-1 ratio" by Lauren Markoe, Religion News Service - Washington Post 6/19/14

The Presbyterian Lay Committee, which opposes gay marriage, urged congregations to launch a financial boycott out of protest.

“The Presbyterian Lay Committee mourns these actions and calls on all Presbyterians to resist and protest them,” the group said in a statement. “ . You should refuse to fund the General Assembly, your synod, your presbytery and even your local church if those bodies have not explicitly and publicly repudiated these unbiblical actions.”

“God will not be mocked,” the statement continued, “and those who substitute their own felt desires for God’s unchangeable Truth will not be found guiltless before a holy God.”

. . . the General Assembly’s vote stands out as a church adapting its policy to fit a rapidly shifting culture even as most other Christian denominations have resisted.

From "Presbyterians Vote to Allow Same-Sex Marriages" by Laurie Goodstein, New York Times 6/19/14

The Presbyterian Church, a historic mainline Protestant denomination that spans a broad spectrum from liberal to conservative evangelicals, has been mired in the debate over homosexuality for about three decades. The General Assembly’s decision in 2010 to ordain openly gay ministers caused many congregations, including some of the largest, to depart.

About 350 of the denomination’s congregations have left since 2010, when the General Assembly voted to ordain openly gay clergy members, said the Rev. Gradye Parsons, the church’s stated clerk, in an interview. But it is still the nation’s largest Presbyterian denomination, with 10,038 churches in 2013 and about 1.8 million members.

Heath Rada, the newly elected moderator of the church, said at a news conference that he thought the measures passed because many Presbyterians were simply tired of having themselves and their church defined by the controversy over homosexuality.

The Presbyterians follow other religious groups that have taken similar steps, including the United Church of Christ, which affirmed “equal marriage rights for couples regardless of gender” in 2005; Quakers; the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations; and the Reform and Conservative movements in Judaism.

From "Presbyterian Church USA votes to allow gay marriage ceremonies" by Niraj Warikoo, Detroit Free Press Staff Writer 6/19/14

Presbyterians number about 1.8 million but have an influence beyond their numbers. Eight U.S. presidents, including Ronald Reagan and Dwight Eisenhower, were Presbyterians, the second-most-popular denomination among presidents.

. . . conservatives are concerned the move could divide the church and lead to further membership declines. Since 1992, Presbyterian Church USA has lost more than a million members, declining 37% from 2.78 million to 1.76 million last year. Some conservative congregations have broken away, and more could leave after Thursday’s vote.

A Presbyterian man from Pennsylvania said people who are backing gay marriage are acting as “agents of the state,” not as “ambassadors of Christ.”

LGBT advocates said they were amazed by the high percentage who voted for both proposals. Two years ago, at the last Presbyterian gathering in Pittsburgh, a proposal to allow same-sex marriage was defeated 52%-48%. Since then, the cultural landscape has changed, with 19 states now allowing same-gender marriage.

Liberal 'Church' Sues NC to Overturn God's Decree

The United Church of Christ (UCC) in Charlotte, North Carolina filed a federal lawsuit against the new state constitutional amendment defining marriage as between one man and one woman claiming that the citizens' 2012 ballot decision violates the First Amendment right of apostate "christians" to celebrate that which God condemns: Homosexual behavior.

Rev. Joe Hoffman, Senior Minister of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, in Asheville, noted that his denomination has supported same-sex rights for years, but faces the penalty of a misdemeanor if he performed any marriage ceremonies for them, which he has.

Hoffman is among the coalition of clergy bringing the case, which was spearheaded by the campaign for Southern Equality [CSE].

Of the scores of same-sex marriage lawsuits filed around the country, the group says this is the first one based on a First Amendment religious-freedom argument, as opposed to the 14th Amendment equal-protection arguments.

The official defendant in the case is North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper, whose office did not return calls for comment on Monday.

"The United Church of Christ is an inclusive church of extravagant welcome, founded on the Constitution's guarantee of the free exercise of religion, and the United Church of Christ believes this freedom should be guarded, protected and defended," said the Rev. Bernard R. Wilson, chairperson of the United Church of Christ Board, in a statement on Monday. "That is the reason the UCC took this legal action in North Carolina today."

Tami Fitzgerald, executive director of the NC Values Coalition and former Chairwoman of Vote for Marriage NC, responded in a statement on Monday to the lawsuit, which was filed by several members of the clergy and six same-sex couples:

"This is sadly, and predictably, the 'lawsuit of the week' filed by those who want to impose same-sex marriage on North Carolina, in spite of the fact that 61% of the voters passed the Marriage Amendment 2 years ago. North Carolinians had good reason to protect marriage in our Constitution, recognizing that the union of a man and woman plays an irreplaceable role in the health of society, first of which is the protection of children."

Fitzgerald said, however, that it is "both ironic and sad that an entire religious denomination and its clergy who purport holding to Christian teachings on marriage would look to the courts to justify their errant beliefs. These individuals are simply revisionists that distort the teaching of Scripture to justify sexual revolution, not marital sanctity."

Pres. Obama's Homosexual Easter at the White House

Although all studies show that only one or two percent of the American population claims to be homosexual, the Obama administration celebrates deviant sexual behavior 100% of the time. Yesterday, President Obama and Gay Gene Robinson, retired bishop of the Episcopal Church, both claimed to represent Christianity at the annual White House Easter prayer breakfast.
Easter is about the Resurrection -- that is, eternal life in the kingdom of God.

"Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."
