Obama's Monument to the 'Goodness' of Deviant Sex

Today, President Obama's senior advisor Valerie Jarrett dedicated America's first national monument to homosexuality, hedonism, and mental illness.  At the ceremony in Greenwhich Village, Jarrett praised the 1969 LGBT Stonewall riots as a battle for civil rights and emphasized this new monument as a symbol of the "true goodness" of the Gay/Transgender Agenda.
“We’re going to remember that fateful night in 1969 — people here were pursuing something that is a fundamental part of the founding documents of this nation: The pursuit of happiness.”

"This week I'm designating the Stonewall National Monument as the newest addition to America's national park system," Obama said in a video released by the White House on Friday.

Interior Secretary Sally Jewell visited the Stonewall Inn in 2014 to announce a new National Park Service initiative to identify important places and events associated with the LGBT civil rights struggle.

The National Park Service, which turns 100 this year, has expanded its efforts to include sites that tell the story of the LGBT community and other diverse U.S. communities, park service director Jonathan Jarvis told CNN in April.

The effort includes a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Heritage Initiative, launched in 2014, to identify places and events associated with the story of LGBTQ Americans for inclusion in the park service.

Local and federal officials joined members of the LGBT community at a dedication ceremony officially designating the historic Stonewall Inn as a national monument to gay rights.

“I could not be more proud than today, where we are here to celebrate and recognize the first new unit of the National Parks system, the first national monument dedicated to the story of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender community and their fight for equal rights,” Director of the National Park Service Jonathan Jarvis said.

Jarvis said Stonewall and Christopher Park have now been welcomed into the family of “America’s most important places,” that includes the Grand Canyon, Yosemite and the Statue of Liberty.

Speakers at the ceremony included Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand and Mayor Bill de Blasio, among many others.

As I reflect back over just the last seven and a half years since President Obama took office . . .

When the President was sworn in, marriage equality was the law in just two states. And now it is the law of the land nationwide, because the Supreme Court validated [it] . . .

Our President signed . . . the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.

And the Supreme Court upheld the Department of Justice’s position that a central provision in the Defense of Marriage Act was unconstitutional.

Right now, [the President's] Attorney General is fighting in North Carolina for Transgender rights, and his Department of Education is helping schools across our country protect the rights of transgender students.

In recognition of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LBGT) Pride Month, Interior Secretary Sally Jewell announced on Friday that the Henry Gerber House in Chicago has been designated a National Historic Landmark, becoming the nation’s second LGBT-related property to achieve such recognition.

Gerber formed the Society for Human Rights, a group that advocated for homosexual men, in his Chicago home in 1924.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel said his city is "deeply honored" by what he called a fitting tribute to a civil rights pioneeer: "This designation will help to teach generations of children about his important contributions to our city and our country,” Emanuel said in a statement.

From "Henry Gerber House named as National Historic Landmark" by Dawn Rhodes, Chicago Tribune 6/19/15

The Henry Gerber House in the Old Town Triangle neighborhood on Friday became only the second LGBT-related property in the country to receive the recognition. The iconic Stonewall Inn in New York City is the other building listed primarily for its impact in LGBT history, according to the U.S. Department of the Interior.

The tribute comes in the midst of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month, celebrated every year in June.

Carrie Barnett, board president of the Gerber/Hart Library and Archives, said the spotlight on Gerber and his home helps to fill in the historical narrative of the gay rights movement. The library in Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood is named for Gerber and Pearl M. Hart, an attorney who also fought for the rights of gays and lesbians.

Gerber, originally from Germany, came to the United States in 1913. He became interested in gay rights while stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army in the 1920s and learned about the gay liberation movement in his native country, according to the Gerber/Hart Library and Archives.

From "Henry Gerber: The gay rights pioneer you probably never heard of" by Tammye Nash, My Gay Houston 2/17/15

Early in 1917, Gerber was committed for a short time to a mental institution because he was gay. But after the U.S. declared war on Germany on April 2, 1917 and entered World War I, Gerber — like other German immigrants — was given the choice of being declared an enemy alien and locked up (you know, like what happened to a lot of Japanese-Americans in World Word II), or enlisting in the Army. Surprise, surprise, Gerber chose to enlist in the Army.

When he got out of the Army, Gerber returned to Chicago and went to work for the U.S. Post Office there. But he didn’t forget what he had seen and learned in Germany, and in 1924 Gerber founded the Society for Human Rights, the oldest documented LGBT organization in the country.

Gerber filed for and received nonprofit status for his new organization, and African-American clergyman John T. Graves signed on as president. Graves, Gerber and five other men were named as members of the organization’s board. The state of Illinois granted the Society for Human Rights its charter on Dec. 10, 1924. Gerber also started “Friendship and Freedom,” the SHR’s newsletter, which is the first known gay-interest publication. It only lasted for two issues, as most SHR members were afraid to have it mailed to their homes.

From "Library of Congress Promotes Gay Erotica Literature at Pride Month Event" by Penny Starr, CNSNews.com 6/23/15

The federally funded Library of Congress held an event to mark Gay Pride Month on Thursday to showcase the publication of literature focused on the homosexual lifestyle, including a gay man’s photography of nude male subjects and poetry by gays and lesbians about their homosexuality.

According the Congressional Budget Office, the Library of Congress’ mission is “to support the Congress in fulfilling its constitutional duties and to further the progress of knowledge and creativity for the benefit of the American people.”

A one-hour lecture was presented by Stathis Orphanos, a homosexual photographer whose “work celebrates the male body,” including nude photos of men and photo essays of military men in various states of dress, according to Orphanos and to a description of his work on a website that includes biographical information about gay and lesbian celebrity figures.

Three other publishers of homosexual literature were featured in a panel discussion, including Bryan Borland, who explained how he started his publishing house, which produces “Assaracus: A Journal of Gay Poetry.”

Borland explained that he started his journal after a homosexual mentor published some of his poetry in a journal called Ganymede, named for a mythical Greek figure. When John Stahle died, Borland said he wanted to continue his work but under a different title.

“My research showed me that in Greek mythology Ganymede had a bother Assaracus – his earthbound brother,” Borland said. “While Ganymede was swept up by Zeus’s eagle to serve at Zeus’ feet, there was Assaracus, and I thought what a perfect name for a journal of gay poetry.

Obama's Sexually Confused White House Appointees

As President Obama declares June LGBT Pride Month, he appoints attorney Shannon Minter, a woman born in 1961 who has pretended to be a man for over 25 years, to the President’s Commission on White House Fellowships to "tackle the important challenges facing America."  Minter argued against natural marriage before the California Supreme Court in 2009 and celebrates the opening of employee restrooms and showers to perverts by this month's mandate by Obama's Department of Labor.

Minter, who has been "married" to a woman since 2001 and has a step daughter, obviously still has XX (female) chromosomes.

Minter, who is the legal director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights [NCLR], has been lead counsel in a number of legal wins for the LGBT community. He gained national attention in 2001 when he represented the lesbian partner of Diane Whipple in a wrongful death case stemming from a dog mauling. That case resulted in a landmark decision in California that extended tort claims to same-sex domestic partners.

The Commission on White House Fellowships interviews and then recommends people to the president for appointment as White House Fellows, who typically spend a year as full-time, paid assistants to senior White House staff.

Minter is one of a number of transgender appointees in the Obama administration. Others include Amanda Simpson and Shawn Skelly at the Defense Department and Jay Davis at the Environmental Protection Agency.

[Minter] believes employers are starting to understand the issue [that] recent workplace developments regarding LGBT employees will continue to raise employer awareness and recognition of transgender workers' restroom rights.

Colo. School Censors Homosexual Speech—Media Fume

When public schools ban students from speaking of their Christian faith, the media cheer, but when Twin Peaks Charter Academy of the St. Vrain Valley School District in Longmont, Colorado told valedictorian Evan Young that he couldn't speak at graduation of his Gay Pride while denouncing the homophobic school, per the overtly sexual text he submitted for pre-screening, the media pounced on the school and excoriated Principal BJ Bachmann for "outing" Young to his parents (who knew nothing of their son's "sexual orientation").
“First Amendment law in this area reflects common sense.  As the Supreme Court has noted . . . It is not a time for a student to use his commencement speech to push his personal agenda on a captive audience, and school officials are well within their rights to prevent that from happening.”

Eighteen-year-old Evan Young told the Daily Camera that he agreed to make some suggested changes to his speech but wouldn't remove the disclosure about his sexuality. The principal, BJ Bachmann, decided to call Evan’s dad and tell him about the speech. In doing so, Bachmann also told [him] his son was gay. Problem is, Rob and his wife Alise Curry had no clue.

Five minutes before he was supposed to give his valedictorian speech, Mr. Bachmann told Evan’s parents their son wouldn’t be talking. To make matters worse, Alise says the school never even acknowledged Evan as valedictorian.

The student with a 4.5 GPA who has a scholarship to Rutgers University had been silenced by a school board who didn’t feel his message was appropriate.

The talking point principal BJ Buchmann had a problem with was Young’s revelation that he is gay. Young planned to disclose his sexual orientation publicly for the first time during his speech.

Young sent a copy of his speech to the school administrators, who returned it to him with requested changes, most of which Young said he made. But when it came to omitting his sexual orientation, Young drew the line.

“I’d told him I’m not going to remove the part where I say I’m gay, because I am. It’s important to me,” said Young.

“My parents are very liberal. I think they were totally OK with it,” said Young.

From "Valedictorian Claims He Couldn’t Deliver Graduation Speech Because He’s Gay" posted at CBS4 - Denver 5/29/15

The principal cancelled Young’s speech minutes before graduation. The school released a statement which read, in part, “The initial draft of the student’s speech… was condescending toward the school and the student’s peers and included, among other things, ridiculing comments about faculty and students. The draft speech also included references to personal matters of a sexual nature.”

“We initially said to ourselves, ‘Well maybe this is not the forum’ but when we read the speech and the context of ‘I’m gay, I’m different, we’re all different, we should all accept each other’ that was the context,” said Evan’s mother Alise Corry.

The story has generated a controversy that has reached far beyond Colorado. Out Boulder, a gay advocacy organization, said it has received emails of support for Evan from around the country.

"Mr. Buchmann called me and said, 'I've got Evan's speech here. There's two things in it that I don't think are appropriate,'" Don Young, [Evan's father,] an accountant, recalled. "One was he had mentioned another student's name. And then there was his coming out that he was gay."

That was the first time in Evan Young's life that his parents had been given a clue about his sexual identity.

"He's Evan, you know?" his father said. "He's never really expressed interest in either (boys or girls). He's just a teenager. ... But we had no indication beforehand."

Initially, Evan's parents were somewhat sympathetic to Buchmann's decision concerning the speech.

"His mother and I were not sure that his coming out in a valedictorian speech was the appropriate place to say it, with grandchildren and 3-year-olds in the audience, and that's kind of what we said to BJ," Don Young said.

Court Ruling Favors Christians over Gay Agenda: KY

Years after the mayor of Lexington, Kentucky was critical of a Christian printer, and the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Human Rights Commission ruled the business pay damages, yesterday the Fayette Circuit Court ruled otherwise saying that Blaine Adamson and his company, Hands on Originals (HOO), have a constitutional right to refuse to print "gay pride" T-shirts that violate Christian beliefs.
“[HOO owners] are Christians who believe that the Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God and that they should strive to live consistently with its teachings.  It is clear beyond dispute that HOO and its owners declined to print the t-shirts in question because of the MESSAGE advocating sexual activity outside of a marriage between one man and one woman. . . . The well established Constitutional rights of HOO and its owners on this issue is well settled.”

[Judge] Ishmael made a distinction between a company choosing not to print a T-shirt because of the sexual orientation of a potential customer and choosing not to print a T-shirt because of its message.

The court noted that HOO had also turned down orders for “a strip club, pens promoting a sexually explicit video, and shirts containing a violence related message” — in other words, shirts that it did not agree with that had nothing to do with homosexuality.

The court also found that HOO was “entitled to assert claims” under a Kentucky statute that’s been compared to Indiana’s controversial Religious Freedom Restoration Act. “Government shall not substantially burden a person’s freedom of religion,” the statute reads.

“What this court found in this case is that no one should be forced to promote ideas—or in this case, print ideas—that conflict with their beliefs,” said Jim Campbell, an attorney for Alliance Defending Freedom representing the printing business. “That protection is for everyone. It’s a protection that’s for the atheist just as much as it’s for the person of faith.”

The unnamed employee reported to Professor Robert George of Princeton, who runs a law blog, that this year’s company survey — which is distributed to employees annually as a means of gauging work satisfaction — asked respondents to note if they were disabled, had children or spouses and domestic spouses with disabilities and were members of the LGBT community, Breitbart reported.

The employee told Professor George he fears for his job:
This survey wasn't anonymous. You had to enter your employee ID. With the way things are going and the fact that LGBT rights are being viewed as pretty much tantamount to the civil rights movement of the mid 50s to late 60s, not selecting that option is essentially saying "I'm not an ally of civil rights;" which is a vague way to say "I'm a bigot." From Starbucks to eBay to Macy's, the increasing visibility of corporations at the parade in [Salt Lake City,] Utah and at others across the country in recent years comes as same-sex marriage bans fall in the courts and polls show greater public acceptance of gay marriage.

In that climate, companies are finding that the benefits of sponsorship outweigh the risks of staying away, giving them a chance to make a statement in support of diversity and use it to help recruit and retain top talent who want to work for a business that supports LGBT rights.

In Salt Lake City, American Express workers carried giant letters that spelled, "Love=Love," the theme of the parade. JPMorgan Chase marchers wore T-shirts that said, "just be you." A Budweiser's semi-truck festooned with rainbow flags drove slowly through the parade, honking its horns.

At the 43rd Motor City Pride Festival in Detroit, banners were adorned with corporate logos, including those of General Motors, Ford, Comerica bank, Kroger and Whole Foods Market. Delta Air Lines employees handed out day packs, luggage tags and the same cookies that passengers get.

The corporate giants, long supporters of gay rights, are joining peers Apple, Dow Chemicals and Levi Strauss in lobbying Congress for that legislation. In between muscular men in speedos gyrating to thumping dance music and drag queens decked out in formal gowns, Salt Lake City's gay pride parade also featured a few, more conventional participants: Some of America's most well-known companies.

From Starbucks to eBay to Macy's, the increasing visibility of corporations at the parade in Utah and at others across the country in recent years comes as same-sex marriage bans fall in the courts . . .

At many companies, support for pride parades and festivals is being fueled by internal Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender councils who are given small budgets and freedom to spend that money where they choose.

The continued transformation of the parades from small, defiant, sexually daring protests to family-friendly, mainstream celebrations has been on full display this summer as new companies join businesses that have been supporting the cause for years.

TD Bank has been sponsoring gay pride parades and festivals in various cities since 2009. The company said it spends nearly $1 million annually on LGBT events and initiatives in the U.S. and Canada. This year, the company is sponsoring 20 gay pride parades.

Sexually Confused Chaplain at National Cathedral

Preaching at today's "worship service" at the National Cathedral in Washington D.C. is an ordained Episcopal (ECUSA) priest who is touted as the first openly transgender priest to do so. The Rev. Dr. Cameron Partridge, 40, who first partnered as a lesbian decades ago and then later, while claiming to be a man, married that same female partner (now raising two pre-pubescent sons), is currently the Episcopal chaplain at Boston University with the goal of influencing the development of young adults.
[College is] “an amazing time to explore one’s faith, one’s tradition, to explore how their intellectual life and their sense of vocation connect with their broader sense of who they are.”

[As Dr. Partridge preaches,] The Right Rev. Gene Robinson, the first openly gay Episcopal bishop, will preside at the service. It’s part of the cathedral’s celebration of LGBT pride month.

The service will also include readings and prayers from members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

From "New Episcopal Chaplain a Role Model" by Rich Barlow, Boston University Today 11/18/11

In clerical black and collar, there is no physical hint that the bearded and bespectacled chaplain was once female. . . .

As he takes over the University’s part-time Episcopalian chaplaincy, Partridge, who lives outside Boston with his wife and their toddler son, says he wants to minister with the empathy that has sometimes been denied him since he completed his transition to a man in 2001. His father, for example, no longer speaks to him. “It’s not my choice,” he says. (Most family and friends accepted him after long conversations.)

Pondering a gender change began with his doctoral studies at Harvard Divinity School in the ’90s. “I was out as gay at that point,” he recalls. . . . With the change, “I felt like I was able to kind of reclaim the body that God had given me.”

[Student] Sean Glenn (STH’13) first encountered Partridge at evening prayer early in the fall semester . . . Glenn says Partridge introduced him to “queer readings of scripture,” which interpret biblical passages according to gay believers’ experience.

While a student at all-female Bryn Mawr College in 1995, Partridge came out as gay and embraced a call to the priesthood. Partridge then graduated from Harvard Divinity School, transitioned from female to male, was ordained an Episcopal priest, got married and completed his doctorate. Today, he’s a religion scholar at Harvard Divinity School and an Episcopal chaplain at Boston University.

Q: As a young woman attending Bryn Mawr, you came out as a lesbian, but also, in a way, as a religious person. How so?

A: When I got to college I’d been quietly wrestling with my sense of vocation for a few years. I felt drawn to academic work — ultimately in gender, sexuality and religion — but I also sensed a call to the priesthood.

Q: You’re married to a woman who was your partner when you both were women. And now, as a married straight couple, you’re a pretty conventional-looking family. But you don’t really like the designation “straight couple.”

A: On the one hand, I am read as a member of a heterosexual couple . . . Here’s the bottom line — perhaps cliche but true: This is about love. I love my spouse and my children. I love being a husband and a dad.

Utah Cop Refuses Homosexual Celebration Duty

An unnamed police officer in Salt Lake City, Utah has been put on leave for refusing an assignment placing him in the midst of hedonistic rebellion and willful violations of natural law.  Homosexualists are calling on the government to force indoctrination training upon such a "bigot" as this cop.

Utah Pride Center spokeswoman Deann Armes said her group is pleased with the department's stance and thinks officers should undergo sensitivity training before joining the force.

The department also will have a community outreach and recruitment booth at the pride festival, Jones said, and participates in a standing committee to address public safety issues relating to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender residents.

"We have gay men and women that serve in the police department," Jones told The Salt Lake Tribune. "One officer's situation does not reflect the vast majority of officers that work in the Salt Lake City Police Department and certainly not Chief Burbank's."

D.C. Principal Says He's Gay - Media Ecstatic

Principal Pete Cahall led Wilson High School in its annual "Gay Pride Day" in the nation's capital where he surprised the students by announcing that he is a proud homosexual, while Mayor Gray told the students that those who oppose the Gay Agenda "can go straight to Hell!" Cahall told reporters that his goal is to encourage more students to engage in deviant sexual behavior.

Gays, Unions March Against Catholic School Morals

As President Obama leads America into the national sexual deviancy month of June, the Archdiocese of Cincinnati is under fire from the PC police, the mainstream media, homosexualists of all stripes, and its own Catholic school teachers who plan to unionize rather than sign contractual morality clauses that challenge their self-proclaimed rights to behave immorally and defy God Almighty.

Homosexual Indoctrination Month in Schools Nationwide

-- From "White House declares June LGBT Pride Month" by Anna Brand, MSNBC 6/2/14

LGBT rights just got another big push from the president himself.

The White House on Friday issued a proclamation by President Barack Obama calling on Americans to eliminate prejudice “everywhere it exists,” declaring June as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month.

“As progress spreads from State to State, as justice is delivered in the courtroom [in defiance of voters], and as more of our fellow Americans are treated with dignity and respect – our Nation becomes not only more accepting, but more equal as well,” the proclamation begins.

Obama writes that although the gay rights movement saw a massive victory this month last year with Supreme Court’s decision to strike down a key provision of the Defense of Marriage Act, giving gay couples married in states where it’s legal the same federal benefits that straight couples receive, full equality is not yet here.

From "Cincinnati Catholic school teachers resign over anti-gay morality clause" by Matt Bradwell, UPI 6/2/14

Catholic school teachers in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati are resigning rather than sign a new contract that includes a morality clause banning public support of the LGBT community. Additionally, teachers cannot publicly support sex outside of marriage nor the use of in-vitro fertilization.

"This is a deep human issue and to dismiss it ... by calling (homosexuality) a lifestyle seems to be a huge misunderstanding on the cognitive level ... It's a dismissal of other human beings," [Catholic high school teacher Robert] Hague wrote in an open letter to Cincinnati Catholic Schools Superintendent Jim Rigg.

Roger Rosen teaches French and Latin at the same Catholic school where he was valedictorian almost five decades prior. He said he signed the new contract because he felt he had no choice, going as far as to call himself a "coward" for doing so.

Some Catholic school teachers in southwest Ohio have formed a union. For Ohio Public Radio, WNKU’s Cheri Lawson reports that they’ve organized in response to a new restrictive employment contract adopted by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and similar to one imposed in Cleveland.

The controversial agreement has drawn national attention because of a morality clause that spells out actions that could cause teachers to lose their jobs. Among them are showing public support for abortion, sex outside of marriage and same-sex unions.

From "Gay pride event has focus on Catholic teacher contract" by Michael D. Clark, The Cincinnati Enquirer 5/31/14

Officials from the national Human Rights Campaign amped up the national controversy this week. The Washington, D.C.-based gay rights organization put another spotlight on Cincinnati – and other dioceses around the country – by sending a letter to the Vatican on behalf of nine teachers who quit their jobs by refusing to sign the new contract.

HRC officials said "the Archdiocese of Cincinnati took anti-LGBT to a new level, calling not only for the firing of gay and lesbian school employees, but also citing support of the 'homosexual lifestyle' as grounds for dismissal."

[Dan Andriacco, spokesman for the Cincinnati archdiocese,] said "99 percent" of the 2,800 teachers in archdiocesan schools have signed the new contract for the next school year.

Saturday's gay pride event will further heighten the conflict between the LGBT community and church officials, [critics say].

From "A litany of 'thou shalt nots': Catholic teachers challenge morality clause" by Susan Candiotti and Chris Welch, CNN 5/31/14

The revised morality clause goes beyond more general standard language requiring teachers -- Catholic or not -- to adhere to Catholic doctrine.

First, the 2014-15 contract adds the title "ministers" to all teachers -- from geography to gym class -- a move seen as a legal maneuver to try to protect the archdiocese from discrimination lawsuits. It stems from a 2012 U.S. Supreme Court decision in the case of Hosanna-Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church and School v. EEOC, in which the justices cite a "ministerial exemption" that gives religious institutions greater latitude when hiring and firing employees.

Teachers must sign a promise not to engage in or publicly support several areas of conduct including unmarried cohabitation or sex, using a surrogate mother or in-vitro fertilization, a homosexual lifestyle, and improper use of social media.

Catholic schools in Cleveland, as well as in Oakland, California, and Honolulu, Hawaii, are working on integrating the clause in their teacher contracts.

From "Ohio Catholic School Contracts Controversy Dismissed as Overblown" by Carl Bunderson, CNA/EWTN NEWS, posted at National Catholic Register 5/29/14

The new guidelines specify that the educator must agree “to exemplify Catholic principles and to refrain from any conduct or lifestyle which would reflect discredit on or cause scandal to the School or be in contradiction to Catholic doctrine or morals.”

[Dan Andriacco, communications director for the Cincinnati archdiocese, said] “We do consider all of our teachers, including those who are not Catholic, to be ministers of the Church, because our schools are a ministry — that’s the reason we open up the doors in the morning. It’s not just to provide a great education, great discipline, although we do that: it’s to spread the Gospel.”

The wording is important, Andriacco said, for its concern with public — not private — acts, and its extension beyond the bounds of the classroom: “a teachers’ function as a role model doesn’t end at the classroom door. . . . I understand the complaint when people say it’s a bunch of ‘thou shalt nots’ — but it has to be. You can’t list the fullness of everything we’re supposed to do; as Catholics, we should all be very charitable – how are you going to write a contract requirement that people be charitable?”

“But, there is some generalized wording,” he added, that the examples are “not the sum of what we expect of our Catholic teachers; we expect a lot more than that. This is not supposed to be a catalogue of everything we expect from them.”

“If we had a problem with teachers posting racial slurs on their Facebook page or blog, that that would probably be part of the contract; I really suspect that if we did not fire, or publicly discipline a teacher who posted racial slurs on their website, that we would get an even bigger pushback than we’re getting now.”

The specified wording and examples in the contract are necessary, Andriacco explained, because the archdiocese has found itself in “situations where people seem to not know what the contract obligates them to.”

UPDATE 12/27/14: From "Diocese to Lose $2 Million in Teacher’s IVF Lawsuit" by Peter Jesserer Smith, National Catholic Register

A federal grand jury decided the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend, Ind., will have to pay out nearly $2 million to a teacher it fired for violating the morals clause of her contract by using artificial means to get pregnant [—a violation the Civil Rights Act].

A diocesan statement emailed to the Register stated the Fort Wayne-South Bend Diocese is “disappointed with the outcome of the trial and is considering an appeal to the U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Herx, a married Catholic woman, had been a junior-high language-arts teacher at St. Vincent de Paul School in Fort Wayne since 2003. She told diocesan officials that she was conceiving a child through in vitro fertilization (IVF) and was let go after rejecting the diocese’s attempts to reconcile her with Church teaching.

The case is complicated by the fact that Herx was fired after her second round of IVF treatments. According to court documents, Herx informed the school’s principal, Sandra Guffey, in March 2010, during the first round of treatment — part of which was paid for by the diocese’s health plan — and her contract was renewed. Guffey registered no objections at the time, explaining during the trial that she had been unaware of the Church’s teaching on IVF and only learned about it when reading a magazine a year later.

Monday’s decision by U.S. District Judge Robert L. Miller Jr. dropped Emily Herx’s $1.9 million judgment in her civil rights lawsuit to just under $544,000.

After a four-day trial in December, a jury awarded her $1.75 million for compensatory damages for pain and suffering, $125,000 for medical care, $75,000 for lost wages and benefits, and $1 for punitive damages, The Journal Gazette reported.

In Monday’s ruling, Miller Jr. . . . reduced the compensatory damage award to $299,999 and left the punitive damage award at $1, to bring that total to $300,000.

Miller also increased the award for lost wages and benefits to $118,803, and included $22,853 in post-termination out-of-pocket health care costs, court documents indicate.
