Most Terrorists are White Christians, Colleges Say

More educators are teaching American students that the greater risk to the public is white Christian terrorists rather than Muslim terrorists.
“Ninety percent are from these white Caucasian men. . . . Usually they are people who are religiously motivated and politically conservative. . . . Just a few months ago, a white, I think he was Christian, I thought he was Christian because there was something about, you know, ‘the state claimed against God’s law and stuff’ . . .”

-- From "VIDEO: College students taught most U.S. terrorists ‘conservative’ white men" by Jennifer Kabbany, Editor, The College Fix 1/11/16

Two students in the class who provided the video of the lecture to The College Fix last week asked to remain anonymous. They said they waited to release it until their grades were secured, and also out of respect for the mourning period at UC Merced after Mohammad’s stabbing spree.

[Dr. Ross Avilla] essentially argued many Americans wrongly believe Muslims make up the vast majority of U.S. terrorists because they have not thought long and hard on the matter.

The scholar made the statements to his class of about 250 students, mostly freshmen.

“They are students who are impressionable,” one of the students who provided the video told The College Fix, adding “I wanted to learn about psychology. I didn’t want to hear biased politics.”

From "Prof DEBUNKS study claiming right-wing extremists in U.S. more deadly than Islamic terrorists" by Michael McGrady, CU Colorado Springs, posted at The College Fix 1/18/16

A widely touted study claiming right-wing extremism is more deadly than Islamic terrorism in the United States has been debunked by a history professor who shows that, in actuality, there have been 62 Americans killed by Islamic terrorists in the U.S. for every one American killed by right-wing extremists.

Professor Andrew Holt of Florida State College at Jacksonville recently published his analysis that discredits the widespread sentiment that right-wing attackers are the deadliest domestic terrorists in the U.S.

Holt’s analysis points out numerous flaws in the highly cited study released in 2015 by New America Foundation, which claimed 48 deaths in the U.S. were due to “far right wing attacks” while only counting 45 deaths due to “violent jihadist attacks.”

The study’s findings were not only touted by many major news outlets across the nation as proof that fears over radical Islamic terror in the U.S. are overblown, but the findings are also used today in some college classrooms as an example of Islamophobia.

But, Holt points out the foundation’s findings are based on flawed data sets.

From "Right Wing Extremism vs. Islamic Extremism in the United States: A Look at the Numbers" by Andrew Holt, Ph.D. 1/11/16

The now oft repeated claim that right wing extremism is more dangerous to Americans than Islamic extremism is based on total deaths and excludes casualties. Moreover, such accounts limit themselves to attacks in the United States (not worldwide), and purposefully exclude the nearly 3,000 deaths (as well as the over 6,000 survivors treated at hospitals) that took place on September 11, 2001. They don’t count the 9/11 deaths as then the numbers would be extraordinarily lopsided (in terms of total U.S. deaths due to Islamic extremism vs right wing extremism) and so such claims are careful to be based only on deaths in the United States AFTER the events of 9/11.

Indeed, if you include the death totals from 9/11 in such a calculation, then there have been around 62 people killed in the United States by Islamic extremists for every one American killed by a right wing terrorist (a 62 to 1 ratio if you divide the slightly over 3000 deaths due to Islamic extremism by the 48 deaths attributed to right wing extremism).

. . . recognize the disproportionately high number of attacks by Islamic extremists in the United States, who, even after excluding the victims of 9/11, are still responsible for around 50% of the total number of deaths due to extremism, even though Muslims only account for around 1% of the total U.S. population.

White Christian Terrorists, Warns Maine Principal

While making a Facebook post in support of Democrat presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, Piet Lammert, Assistant Principal at Camden Hills Regional High School in Rockport, Maine, warned readers of white Christian male terrorists.  The superintendent of Five Town Community School District (Camden, Maine) has announced that the hullabaloo that erupted locally over this public commentary should be considered over now that Lammert has apologized.
The only terrorists we need to fear are domestic white “Christian” men with easy access to guns. Vote Bernie - That is all. Enjoy your day.

The post has been removed, but the community is still talking about it.

The superintendent of the school system, Maria Libby, says the comment made by Piet Lammert is not indicative of the person or administrator he is. Still, the community says his post was just inappropriate.

The superintendent says she knows Lammert well and says the post was an error in judgement.

Libby says this situation isn't a matter of free speech. She says Lammert is an administrator and therefore should not post things of this nature.

Five-Town Community School District Superintendent Maria Libby said Wednesday she received telephone calls and emails from concerned parents and others about Lammert’s comments.

“As superintendent, I have looked into the issue and am taking appropriate action,” Libby said. “As you know, I am unable to share the details because it is a personnel issue. I will say that I know Piet, and he is someone who genuinely accepts all people. The Five-Town CSD is committed to providing an atmosphere open to all students, families and staff and has a well-earned reputation for doing so.”

When reached Friday, Lammert said he posted an apology on his Facebook page that morning and would be sharing the statement in an email to parents.

From "Apology post" by Piet Lammert 12/4/15

I am writing to take responsibility and apologize for a post that I made on my private Facebook account yesterday. I mistakenly left my setting open to “Public” and in doing so made a post that offended some members of our community and beyond. I deeply regret doing so, take full responsibility, and hope that those I offended will accept my apology.

With true humility, I write to apologize for the offensive statement that I recently posted on Facebook. I did not intend this statement literally when I wrote it–it was an exaggeration–but soon after realized that it was unintentionally hurtful, offensive, and divisive at a time when more than ever we need compassion and understanding.

In short, I did not mean what I said and wish with all my heart that I could take it back. But I need to take responsibility for it nonetheless, because I wrote it. It does not represent who I am or what I believe, but I wrote it. This post is an effort to at least begin to make amends.

Had I simply written what I meant, the post would have reflected my urgent distress at the epidemic of mass violence in our country, which more recent events have proven to span all social groups. Ironically, in my effort to point out that we run the risk of simplifying the problem by singling out a particular ethnic group, I did exactly that to the group to which I belong. It was careless and rash.

"He understands that he made a mistake and he has tried to take responsibility for that," Libby told FoxNews.com Tuesday -- though she added, "I don’t think that everyone in the community would say it’s resolved."

"I think that there are people in the community who are quite upset over the post and may not be happy unless that assistant principal is fired," she said.

Libby said the situation has been handled appropriately but did not provide details on what actions were taken. She said he will not be fired.

Office Depot Refuses Christian Customer: Illinois

When Maria Goldstein took her print order to the Office Depot in the Chicago suburb of Schaumburg, Illinois, she was turned away because the office supply store was “restricted by corporate policy” from reproducing a “religious flyer” with pro-life propaganda that criticizes Planned Parenthood.  Attorneys representing Goldstein have informed the big box retailer that their policy is a violation of “the Cook County Human Rights Ordinance, which forbids public businesses from discriminating based on religion.”

The demand letter [from Goldstein's attorneys] says Office Depot must “cease its unlawful refusal to service Ms. Goldstein’s copying order.” [Special counsel Thomas] Olp said if the company refuses, he will bring the issue before the Cook County Human Rights Commission or the Illinois Department of Human Rights.

Office Depot did not immediately respond to NBC Chicago’s request for comment but a spokeswoman for the company told the Chicago Tribune the company policy prohibits “the copying of any type of material that advocates any form of racial or religious discrimination or the persecution of certain groups of people.”

Last month, Maria Goldstein, 42, ordered 500 copies of "A Prayer for the Conversion of Planned Parenthood" at an Office Depot in Schaumburg to distribute at her [Catholic] parish the following Sunday. The handout also included statistics about abortion in the U.S. and at Planned Parenthood, a non-profit organization that provides women's and reproductive health services.

The prayer, composed by the Rev. Frank Pavone, national director of Priests for Life, an anti-abortion group, calls on God to "Bring an end to the killing of children in the womb, and bring an end to the sale of their body parts. Bring conversion to all who do this, and enlightenment to all who advocate it."

The prayer also decries "the evil that has been exposed in Planned Parenthood and in the entire abortion industry."

Thomas Olp, a lawyer for the Chicago-based Thomas More Society, a public interest law group that represents Goldstein, said the situation fits into the public accommodation laws that date back to when businesses refused to serve African-Americans and Jews.

The Thomas More Society describes itself as a not-for-profit law firm that provides pro bono services aimed at restoring respect in law for life, family and religious liberty.

Goldstein said she already knew of the Thomas More Society and thought of them immediately when she felt she was facing religious discrimination.

"I know that they're strong defenders of religious freedom," she said.

Olp said that because Goldstein's flier has already been printed, Office Depot could make amends stating that such discrimination will never happen again. If such a statement is not made within five working days, Olp said he plans to file a complaint with the Cook County Human Rights Commission.

Office Depot may face a lawsuit after refusing to print flyers that criticize Planned Parenthood, saying the flyers “persecute” people who believe in abortion rights.

“When I tell people they’re shocked because this is America,” Goldstein told The Daily Caller News Foundation. “Office Depot is trying to silence my freedom of speech and my freedom of religion.”

“This seems crazy,” Olp told TheDCNF. “To say that a prayer that calls for conversion and understanding and enlightenment is persecution, to call that persecution to me is the height of intolerance.”

“We suggest that you consider what your position would be if our client were black and your employees refused service because of her race,” said a letter to Office Depot Chairman Roland C. Smith from Thomas Olp of the Thomas More Society, which is representing the woman.

“In that case it would not be hard to see how unreasonable that refusal of service would be. The public accommodation laws do not give any greater leeway for refusal of service when a customer’s religious expression motivates the refusal. … Our laws welcome religion and religious expression, treat it fairly and equally, and do not permit its marginalization or silencing.”

[Olp] said if there is an employee with some sort of religious objection to the Christian statements, the company should accommodate that employee and find someone else to do the print job.

UPDATE 9/12/15: From "Office Depot Retreats from Refusal to Print Pro-Life Prayer it Said Was ‘Hate Material’" by Terence P. Jeffrey, CNSNews.com

The company explained its decision in a letter its assistant general counsel, Robert A. Amicone, sent Olp on Sept. 11.

“You also say that [the flyer] is ‘religious throughout in tone and content’ and ‘contains a prayer’ seeking an end to abortion,” said the Office Depot attorney in this letter. “You do not mention, however, certain language within the prayer that discusses ‘the killing of children in the womb’ and ‘the grisly trade in baby body parts.’

“Nor do you address the strong language presumably condemning those who perform and obtain abortions,” said the Office Depot letter. “Indeed, the prayer characterizes those individuals as ‘evil,’ and it advocates for the closure of the ‘death camps in our midst.’ It is this type of language that led to the decision to refuse you client’s copying request.”

“There are two provisions [of the company’s policy] applicable to this dispute,” explained the lawyer. “The first prohibits the copying of ‘graphic material,’ which can include descriptions of dead or dismembered bodies. The second provision prohibits the copying of ‘hate material’ that advocates for the persecution of groups of people, regardless of the reason.”

Goldstein’s flyer did not contain any illustrations—and called for the “conversion,” not persecution, of those who advocate aborting unborn children.

“To be clear,” said Office Depot’s lawyer, “Office Depot’s position is that the above-quoted language falls within the definition of ‘graphic material’ and/or ‘hate material,’ making the refusal to print the flyer appropriate.”

"We sincerely apologize to Ms. (Maria) Goldstein for her experience and our initial reaction was not at all related to her religious beliefs," Roland Smith, chairman and chief executive officer of Office Depot, said in a statement. "We invite her to return to Office Depot if she still wishes to print the flier."

[Spokeswoman for Office Depot, Karen] Denning said a more detailed review of the flier determined that it was not a clear violation of the company's policy, which prohibits "the copying of any type of material that advocates any form of racial or religious discrimination or the persecution of certain groups of people."

Denning said the policy won't change but added that customers can use the self-service copy machines inside stores without being subject to the policy.

Homosexual Bully Slams Pope in IL College Chapel

The anti-bullying advocate, backed by President Obama and highlighted on the White House website, spewed anti-Christian profanity in his speech Sunday at the United Church of Christ affiliated Elmhurst College -- the same day that he reiterated his contempt for the Bible on his website in a so-called apology for his anti-Christian rant of April 13th to teenagers in Seattle.
"What the Pope is saying is that the only thing that stands between my dick and Brad Pitt's mouth is a piece of paper....What the Pope is saying is that once we're all gay-married we're going to go extinct in a generation because once we're all gay-married, we're gonna forget which hole sh*ts babies."

From "Ousted Attendee: Gay Activist Dan Savage Is 'A Walking Hate Crime,' Speech Video Will Show" by Lauren Thompson, CNSNews.com 4/30/12

The media have been glossing over militant gay activist Dan Savage’s brutal war on Christians during a talk at Elmhurst College last week.

This latest attack on Christians comes just days after more than 100 Christian high students walked out on Savage after he called them "pansy-assed" at a journalism conference in California and said offensive things about Christianity.

Savage responded on Twitter to LaBarbera’s claims calling his own actions “civil” and branded LaBarbera a “liar.” He then touted that LaBarbera “bore false witness.”

LaBarbera described a lengthy list of Savage’s hateful dialogue, none of which has been published or featured in the video clips released of his talk. “He was especially obscene about Family Research Council leader Tony Perkins, declaring everything Perkins does causes gays to commit suicide. He said every dead gay kid is a rhetorical victory for Tony Perkins and Perkins stands on their dead bodies,” LaBarbera said.

From "Dan Savage Apologizes for Bullying During Anti-Bullying Speech" by Tim Newcomb, Time Magazine 5/1/12

Advice columnist Dan Savage, the founder of the ‘It Gets Better’ project — a series of web videos devoted to helping victims of bullying — is facing charges of bullying himself after a speech to a group of high school journalists in Seattle turned into a rant at several students who walked out in protest mid-speech.

Focusing on what he called the “hypocrisy” of Christians who wouldn’t condemn anti-gay bullying because of Biblical strictures on homosexuality, Savage said:
“We can learn to ignore the bullsh*t in the Bible about gay people… the same way we have learned to ignore the bullsh*t in the Bible about shellfish, about slavery, about dinner, about farming, about menstruation, about virginity, about masturbation. We ignore bullsh*t in the Bible about all sorts of things.”
That was the point at which a group of about 20 or 30 students and advisors quietly stood up and walked out of the auditorium. “It’s funny, as someone who is the receiving end of beatings that are justified by the Bible, how pansy-assed some people react when you push back,” Savage said after they had left.

From "Sparks fly over Dan Savage's comments to students about Bible" by Jonathan Martin, Seattle Times staff reporter 4/30/12

Savage's speech, at a 3,000-student gathering of young journalists in Seattle, linked bullying of gay kids with biblical denunciations of homosexuality.

In an interview, Savage said he regretted using vulgar terms and apologized for his description of the walkout, but defended his description of the Bible.

Savage said the speech is one he has repeatedly given in promoting "It Gets Better," his hugely successful project to help gay, lesbian and transgender youths cope with bullying. The project has at least 40,000 videos — testimonials meant to offer encouragement — including one by President Obama, and an accompanying book that debuted on The New York Times best-seller list.

In the speech, Savage, citing Sam Harris' "Letter to a Christian Nation," said the Bible gave instructions about how to treat slaves. If the Bible erred "on the easiest moral question that humanity has ever faced ... What are the odds that the Bible got something as complicated as human sexuality wrong? 100 percent," said Savage. Students are heard cheering and clapping.

In a statement, the [Seattle event] organizers said Savage "veered from the topic" of bullying. Student journalism "should not shy away from controversial topics and viewpoints. But it should promote and engage in civil discourse. Mr. Savage's speech fell short of that standard, and for this our organizations apologize."

“When I saw him at the front door, I told him to leave,” Boggs said Monday. “It’s just my way to show support for the gay community and stand up to somebody I think is a bully. Campfield stood by his assertions in a blog post and mused about his treatment at the restaurant:

"In the 60's my grandfather sat at the lunch counters with the blacks in Knoxville to help break up the segregation of the races. I guess some people still support segregation. Just segregation of thought. Some people have told me my civil rights were violated under the 1964 civil rights act in that a person can not be denied service based on their religious beliefs. (I am catholic and the catholic church does not support the act of homosexuality) I had not thought about that much.

-- From "Archbishop Dolan: President Obama Out To Destroy Institute Of Marriage In New York" posted at CBSNewYork 9/23/11

Archbishop Timothy Dolan is going to war with President Barack Obama over same-sex marriage — and warning of a major clash between church and state over religious freedom.

[The bishop] accuses the president of working to “escalate the threat to marriage and imperil the religious freedom of those who promote and defend marriage.”

. . . the Obama administration filed a court brief calling the law defining marriage [DOMA] as the union of one man and one woman “unconstitutional” and “discriminatory.”

The archbishop says that practically labels Catholic teaching a federal offense with “a motivation rooted in prejudice and bias.”

From "Catholics warn of 'national conflict' over gay marriage" by David Gibson, Religion News Service, posted at USAToday 9/23/11

Dolan said the bishops are especially upset that the administration and opponents of DOMA are framing their argument as a civil rights issue . . .

He also argued that traditional marriage is best for society, and that treating gay marriage as a civil right would lead to discrimination against believers and against church agencies that could not, for example, accommodate gay couples as adoptive parents.

The two-page letter was followed by a three-page analysis from the USCCB's legal staff that charges the administration with "hostility" to traditional marriage and a "new, more aggressive position" on behalf of gay marriage. In especially strong language, it also argues that the administration treats millions of Americans who oppose gay marriage "as if they were bigots."

From "Fight against federal law will undermine marriage, says archbishop" by Catholic News Service 9/22/11

"It is especially wrong and unfair to equate opposition to redefining marriage with either intentional or willfully ignorant racial discrimination, as your administration insists on doing," the archbishop said.

Archbishop Dolan underscored the church's position recognizing "the immeasurable personal dignity and equal worth of all individuals, including those with same-sex attraction" and said "we reject all hatred and unjust treatment against any person."

"The Catholic bishops stand ready to affirm every positive measure taken by you and your administration to strengthen marriage and the family," he said. "We cannot be silent, however, when federal steps harmful to marriage, the laws defending it and religious freedom continue apace."

"Our federal government should not be presuming ill intent or moral blindness on the part of the overwhelming majority of its citizens," he said. "Nor should a policy disagreement over the meaning of marriage be treated as a federal offense by federal officials."

From "Conflict of ‘enormous proportions’ brewing thanks to Obama anti-marriage stance: head of US bishops" by Peter Baklinski, LifeSiteNews.com 9/23/11

This letter comes at a time when the Obama Administration has shifted from not defending the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) to actively attacking the Act’s constitutionality. Just two months ago the Department of Justice (DoJ) filed a brief in Golinski v. U.S. Office of Personnel Management, arguing that DOMA should be struck down as a form of sexual orientation discrimination.

“Every child has the right to be loved by both a mother and a father. The institution of marriage is built on this truth, which goes to the core of what the Catholic Bishops of the United States, and the millions of citizens who stand with us on this issue, want for all children and for the common good of society.”

Nevertheless, he continued, “While all persons merit our full respect, no other relationships provide for the common good what marriage between husband and wife provides.”

“Mr. President, I respectfully urge you to push the reset button on your Administration's approach to DOMA.”

From "Catholics cannot accept gay marriage, pope says" by Philip Pullella and Sarah Marsh, Reuters 9/24/11

Pope Benedict said on Saturday the Catholic Church could not accept gay marriage and urged young people to root out evil in society and shun a "lukewarm" faith that damages their Church.

"The world in which we live, in spite of its technical progress, does not seem to be getting any better," he told the young people.

He urged them to root out all forms of evil in society and not to be "lukewarm Christians," saying that lack of commitment to faith did more damage to their Church than its sworn enemies.

"We as Christians attach great importance to defending the integrity and the uniqueness of marriage between one man and one woman from any kind of misinterpretation," he said.

'Hateful' MN School Won't Indoctrinate Gay Agenda

The Anoka-Hennepin school district's long-standing neutrality statement concerning sexual orientation has caused homosexualists to label the district as being hateful toward "gay students" and to threaten lawsuits.

Previously this year, this school district accepted a lesbian exhibition maneuver.

UPDATE 3/6/12: School settles federal lawsuit agreeing to pay $270,000 to six student plaintiffs who accused the district of creating a hostile, anti-gay environment

-- From "Anoka-Henn. school officials meet with civil rights groups over gay harassment claims" by Tom Weber, Minnesota Public Radio 6/14/11

The Southern Poverty Law Center and the National Center for Lesbian Rights said last month Minnesota's largest school district must address anti-gay harassment or face a federal lawsuit.

The two sides agreed to a meeting in hopes of avoiding legal action. The groups want compensation for their clients, and also seek repeal of a district policy that requires staff to be neutral in dealing with sexual orientation curriculum issues.

District leaders have said they have no plans to remove that so-called "neutrality policy."

From "Anoka-Hennepin policy aims to respect all families and students" by Dennis L. Carlson, Superintendent, Anoka-Hennepin School District 6/8/11

For the past year, the Anoka-Hennepin school district has been repeatedly asked by members of the public and special interest groups to eliminate our sexual orientation curriculum policy, which requires staff in the course of their professional duties to "remain neutral on matters regarding sexual orientation." They believe the policy has prevented staff from intervening when LGBT students are bullied or harassed and prevented staff from helping students who are struggling with their sexual orientation.

Wishing to respect all families and all students, the school board believes neutrality is the best option. The board adopted a religious activities policy years ago requiring "neutrality in matters of religion." The sexual orientation policy is similar. When speaking with students during class time, teachers do not advocate homosexuality, nor do they condemn it.

From "Bullies attack 1 in 5 gay students in state, survey finds" by Jeremy Olson, Minneapolis Star Tribune 6/28/11

A federal school safety report in 2009 estimated that one-third of students ages 12 to 18 were bullied at school. Advocates [a.k.a. homosexualists] believe that gay students are bullied at a rate higher than other students.

Concerns about the safety of GLBT students in Minnesota heightened with the suicide last July of Justin Aaberg, an Anoka High student. His mother, Tammy, criticized the district for a policy that she said limited how staff could support gay students. Aaberg was one of six students in the Anoka Hennepin School District to die by suicide in a recent 12-month period. A district review found bullying wasn't the principal issue, but many parents and students believe that it was a key factor.

From "Conservative group to Anoka-Hennepin: Keep sexual orientation policy" by Elizabeth Dunbar, Minnesota Public Radio 6/28/11

The Alliance Defense Fund, a group of Christian attorneys who have worked in several states on efforts to ban same-sex marriage, sent a letter to the school district on Tuesday. In it, Legal Counsel Jeremy Tedesco said the civil rights groups' arguments have "no basis in law."

"The district should not allow SPLC and NCLR to browbeat them into abandoning its sensible policy of requiring district personnel to remain neutral on issues regarding sexual orientation," Tedesco wrote. "Neutrality does not equal hostility. Rather, neutrality respects all sides of a controversial issue, and advocates none."

Leaders from the Southern Poverty Law Center and National center for Lesbian Rights argued in an op-ed this week that the school district's policy in practice is not neutral because it silences gay students and keeps historical content about gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender people out of the curriculum.

AZ Abortion Ban for Race/Gender Selection

The Arizona House gave preliminary approval to a bill to ban abortions based solely on the sex or race of the baby, countering eugenic bigotry and discrimination.

UPDATE 3/30/11: Arizona first state making sex- or race-selection abortions a crime, as governor signs bill

UPDATE 3/22/11: Senate passes bill

-- From "Arizona Attempting to Ban Sex and Race Selective Abortions" by Cleveland Leader Staff 2/22/11

Democrats in Arizona have called it a bill "in search of problems". Republicans defending the bill have claimed that it refutes suggestions that "we are not here to protect the minority population."

Should the bill advance to becoming law, it would thus require that women justify or explain their reasoning for ending a pregnancy, and then require them to seek approval from an outside body to go ahead with it.

However, this bill is not the only abortion issue that Arizona legislators have before them. There are also bills before them that would ban telemedicine prescriptions of medication abortion, a new ultrasound requirement, and a bill trying to limit the resprctions of medication abortions which would mean physicians' assistants couldn't prescribe the abortion pill.

From "House OKs banning abortions based on race, gender" by Tessa Muggeridge, Cronkite News Service, Tucson Sentinel 2/22/11

The measure, authored by Rep. Steve Montenegro, R-Litchfield Park, would require doctors performing abortions to sign affidavits stating that the reason for the abortion isn't the fetus' race or sex. It would allow the father, if married to the woman who gets an abortion, to sue the doctor if he believes the doctor knowingly performed it based on the race or sex. If the mother isn't 18, the maternal grandparents would be able to sue.

Montenegro called race- and sex-selection abortions a violation of human rights, saying these abortions are often grizzly, late-term surgeries. Democrats questioned whether such abortions are happening in the state, while Republicans said the measure would help end discrimination against unborn children.

Montenegro has said minorities being aborted at a higher rate than whites is evidence of race-selection abortions in Arizona and that national U.S. studies show that parents prefer male babies to female.

The approval sets up a floor vote that would send the bill to the Senate.

From "Arizona House passes ban on sex-, gender-selective abortions" by John Jalsevac, LifeSiteNews.com 2/22/11

The legislation (HB 2443) not only bans sex- and race-selective abortions, but puts in place a fine of up to $10,000 for health care workers who fail to report a violation of the law.

While much attention has been focused recently on the racial imbalance in abortions in the U.S., there is increasing evidence that gender-selective abortions are also a rising problem, particularly amongst recent immigrant populations that traditionally favor male children. In a 2008 article Steven Mosher of the Population Research Institute pointed to census data in the U.S. that shows that there are significant imbalances between male and female children amongst certain populations that can only be explained by sex-selective abortions.

Rep. Chester Crandell, R-Heber, who supported the Arizona legislation, said this week: “Once we start selecting and we start deciding who we want to be born and who we don’t want to be born, this civilization in the United States as we know it today will no longer exist.”

Government Keeps List of 'Homophobic Kids'

President Obama having enacted the Hate Crimes law, can now see the American future in the United Kingdom where 30,000 students per year, including toddlers, are being permanently branded as bigots based on playground squabbles.

Solution: A £35,000 grant will enable public schools to teach "gay issues" in core curricula, with a gala launch celebrating LGBT History Month.

-- From "Thousands of schoolchildren branded 'racist' and 'homophobic' during playground squabbles" by Andrew Hough, London Telegraph 1/18/11

Teachers logged more than 10,000 confrontations involving primary school students making racist insults or derogatory comments about homosexuals in 12 months.

A further 20,000 “hate crimes” were recorded against secondary school students such as using the phrases “white trash” or “gaylord” during playground squabbles.

And nursery school staff reported several dozen such bullying incidents involving young children despite most not understanding the meaning of what they were saying.

After the introduction of the Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000, which put public bodies under a duty to eliminate discrimination, schools were told they had to monitor the impact of their policies on the educational attainment of pupils of different races.

From "30,000 pupils branded as bigots: Teachers log 'racist' and 'homophobic' jibes in playground squabbles, even at nursery" by Sarah Harris, UK Daily Mail 1/17/11

The school can also keep the pupil’s name and ‘offence’ on file. The record can be passed from primaries to secondaries or when a pupil moves between schools at the request of the new head.

And if schools are asked for a pupil reference by a future employer or a university, the record could be used as the basis for it, meaning the pettiest of incidents has the potential to blight a child for life.

In the majority of cases, the ‘racist’ spats involved mere name-calling.

At one primary, teachers filled out an incident form after three Year Four pupils, aged eight or nine, told a classmate he was ‘gay’ and could not play with them.

From "Children as young as FOUR to be taught about homosexuality under plans to 'celebrate gay community'" by Kate Loveys, UK Daily Mail 1/23/11

Children as young as four are to be taught about homosexuality in maths, geography, science and English lessons.

In a Government-backed drive to ‘celebrate the gay community’, lesson plans for pupils have been drawn-up to raise awareness about lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual issues.

And youngsters aged four will be exposed to images of same-sex couples and books such as ‘And Tango Makes Three’ which is about two male penguins raising a chick, inspired by events at New York’s Central Park Zoo.

David Watkins, a teacher involved in the scheme, said: ‘when you have a maths problem, why does it have to involve a straight family or a boyfriend and girlfriend? Why not two boys or two girls?

Hollywood, Cure for Islamophobia: Katie Couric

CBS News anchor Katie Couric suggests in an interview that if Americans could learn about Muslims through a TV sitcom . . .

-- From "@katiecouric: 2010 in Review - Katie Couric talks to Politico's Jonathan Martin, comedian Mo Rocca and Sheryl Huggins-Salomon of theroot.com" posted at CBSNews.com 12/22/10

Couric: “The bigotry expressed against Muslims in this country has been one of the most disturbing stories to surface this year. Of course, a lot of noise was made about the Islamic Center, mosque, down near the World Trade Center, but I think there wasn’t enough sort of careful analysis and evaluation of where this bigotry toward 1.5 billion Muslims worldwide, and how this seething hatred many people feel for all Muslims, which I think is so misdirected, and so wrong — and so disappointing.”

Rocca: “I’m pretty smart, and I can’t tell you … I mean I went to really fancy schools and I cannot tell you five things about Islam. I know almost nothing about a major world religion that sits at the intersection of so many issues that are undeniably relevant to all of us.”

Couric: “Maybe we need a Muslim version of ’The Cosby Show.’ I know that sounds crazy, I know that sounds crazy. But ‘The Cosby Show’ did so much to change attitudes about African Americans in this country, and I think sometimes people are afraid of things they don’t understand, like you, Mo … but, maybe if it became more a part of the popular culture.”

The Imam of Hajji Osman Alaf Mosque in Iraqi Kurdistan’s second largest city, Sulaimani, has told his followers that anyone who believes female circumcision is not a recommendation from the prophet Mohammed is “ignorant.”

During his Friday sermon on December 3rd, Imam Mala Yassin Hakim Piskandi said female circumcision was a “Sunnah," a term used to refer to the practices carried out or recommended by Mohammed, the prophet of Islam.

He said, the Sunni Shafeyi, a school of jurisprudence which most Kurds follow, took a tougher stance regarding female circumcision, considering it an “obligation," but that the other three Sunni schools of jurisprudence regarded it merely as a Sunnah, meaning it was recommended, but not compulsory.

“When men and women have intercourse, their sexual organs should be circumcised and clean,” he quoted Prophet Mohammed as saying.

Democrats: 'Christian Talk' Not Welcome in New Hampshire

GOP State Rep. David Bates told a Christian audience in September that we must conform to 2 Chronicles 7:14, otherwise God will certainly NOT bless America. New Hampshire Democrats blasted Bates in an official statement saying that Christians want to force "their Bible Belt social agenda upon the people of New Hampshire."

UPDATE 12/17/10: House Democrat leader won't apologize, saying New Hampshire's tradition is humanistic

The Democrats went after Rep. David Bates, R-Windham, Tuesday for remarks he made in Plymouth, Mass., in September at the New England Solemn Assembly.

Bates spoke during a nondenominational day of prayer, quoting Abraham Lincoln and telling the audience the country needs prayer.

The Democratic Party Tuesday referred to Bates' remarks as a "religious tirade."

From "NH Democratic Party accused of ‘religious intolerance’" by Patrick Hynes, New Hampshire Journal 12/16/10

Democratic spokeswoman Harrell Kirstien accused Republican State Rep. David Bates of attempting to impose a “Bible belt social agenda” after video surfaced of Bates saying “the only hope for America” is to “turn from our wicked ways and ask god to heal our land” and “the problem we have here in this country and in all of our states is that we no longer fear god” at New England Solemn Assembly in Plymouth Massachusetts.

Now Kevin Smith, head of Cornerstone Policy Research, is calling on the Democratic Party to apologize for the attack.

“The NHDP’s mischaracterization of Representative Bates’ faith are not only rooted in religious bigotry, but represents the height of hypocrisy for a party that supposedly prides itself in being tolerant of other’s beliefs,” Smith said. “ The NHDP owes Rep. Bates and the hundreds of thousands of Christians in this state an apology for his truly offensive and ignorant remarks.”

In the nearly seven-minute speech, Bates said . . . "We really have no reason to expect blessing from God if we continue to call evil what God says is good while embracing as good what God condemns as sin."

NHDP spokesman Harrell Kirstein asked, "Why does the House Republican leadership appear so intent on forcing their Bible Belt social agenda upon the people of New Hampshire? Radical social conservatives have filed countless legislative requests for bills that infringe on equality and individual rights."

. . . Democratic former state Sen. Peter Burling said Bates and the Republicans are sponsoring "faith-based" legislation and accusing New Hampshire of being in "a state of non-grace."

Burling said, "What's so discomforting about all of this is that New Hampshire is not a state that needs to worry about its status relative to sin. The people of this state are good, kind-hearted humane people."

Top 7 Acts of Christian Bashing

From "Top 7 Acts of Christian Bashing" posted 12/28/07 at Christian Anti-Defamation Commission

"From murder and intimidation, to the crass and the blasphemous, 2007 was a horrendous year of Christian bashing," said Dr. Gary L. Cass, Chairman and CEO of the Christian Anti-Defamation Commission, the counter force to the liberal Jewish Anti-Defamation League.

"Anti-Christian sentiments are being fomented in the culture and are becoming more deadly and cynical," said Cass. "Impressionable young people are being swept up in anti-Christian hysteria, aided and abetted by a greedy, a-moral entertainment industry. Mocking Christians, blaspheming their faith and ridiculing their values has become the easy way for 'entertainers' to shock their way to the top."

"The Christian Anti-Defamation Commission (CADC) calls on anti-Christian politicians, Hollywood and New York media elites to stop the Christian bashing and take responsibility for the culture of hate towards Christians they have helped to create. Liberal Understanding of Objections to Same-Sex Marriage are Not Deep

From "Liberal reactions to the marriage amendment are not deep" by Dennis Prager, posted 6/06/06, at Townhall.com

...That most liberals cannot understand conservatives' views about marriage as anything but bigotry and/or pandering is part of a narcissism that characterizes much of the Left. The very definition of narcissism is an inability to see the world through the eyes of another. Whatever conservatives' flaws, far more conservatives understand liberals' views on same-sex marriage. Most opponents of same-sex marriage appreciate that liberals feel bad about gays' inability to marry a person of the same sex. In fact, as a proponent of a marriage amendment, I not only understand the liberal desire to enable people to marry someone of the same sex, I feel genuine compassion for gays on this matter.

But such empathy for ideological foes is all but absent from the narcissistic world of the Left. To virtually every liberal writer and spokesman, only liberals mean well, only they are sincere, only they are compassionate, and only they are intellectual, rational and tolerant.

Liberals' use of the word "radical" to describe opponents of same-sex marriage illustrates this self-aggrandizing mindset. To describe as "radical" those who wish to preserve the man-woman-based definition of marriage known to every civilization is to stand the word on its head. It is beyond intellectually dishonest -- it is mendacity -- to describe those who favor preserving the definition of marriage as "radical" rather than to so describe those who wish to change the gender-based definition of marriage for the first time in history. Even if you support same-sex marriage, you should at least have the honesty to admit that it is you who favors something radical.

Some of those who want a constitutional amendment to define marriage as man-woman are indeed bigoted against gays, regarding them as something less than fully human. But most people who want to maintain marriage as male-female consider homosexuals to be just as much created in the image of God as anyone else. But though it is painful for us to see a perfectly decent homosexual unable to marry a person of the same sex, we are nevertheless more preoccupied with:

(1) Giving every child the opportunity to at least begin life with a mother and father; (2) Honoring the will of the great majority of Americans, secular and religious, liberal and conservative, to preserve the man-woman marital ideal, and not allow a judge to single-handedly destroy that ideal; (3) Preserving the ability of teachers and clergy to tell the story of marriage to young children in terms of a man and woman and not confuse the vast majority of kids who are forming their vision of marriage and sexuality.

These preoccupations are neither bigoted nor radical. They are, in our view, civilization-saving.
