This year, the White House Easter Egg celebration includes an opportunity for "yoga professionals" to influence the 35,000 attendees. It's all in keeping with President Obama's past sacrilegious, nominally Christian gestures:

Christmas, Easter Jettisoned from Omaha Schools
School board member Paul Meyer received zero support from fellow board members in his effort to restore Christian holidays scratched from the calendar by administrators of the Millard School District of Omaha, Nebraska. In fact, Meyer was forced to apologize after being lambasted in the local media for suggesting that Christmas-hating atheists can "crawl back into their hellhole."

Meyer was concerned that the calendar didn't place enough significance on the religious holiday.
Board President Mike Kennedy said he appreciated Meyer's position, but said he didn't believe the administration made an intentional effort to remove Christmas from the calendar.
None of the board members present - Kennedy, Mike Pate and Pat Ricketts - seconded Meyer's motion. The board then adopted the calendar on a 3-1 vote without specifying a name for the break. Meyer was the dissenting vote.

[Paul Meyer] expressed disappointment that the administration had not labeled the break on the calendar — Dec. 25, 2017, through Jan. 5, 2018 — as Christmas break.
“I would like to make a motion that we rename this period Christmas break, and those atheists who don’t like it can crawl back into their hellhole, because I, for one, will not put my Lord, my God, aside for a few atheists,” Meyer said. “And if they don’t like it, the ACLU doesn’t like it, the heck with them.”
“I do know, as a Catholic, I have no problem the way the calendar is,” [Board President Mike] Kennedy said. “I celebrate Christmas. I know other people on this board do too. People are free to celebrate what they want to believe.”
“I don’t think anyone’s trying to take away Christmas from any child,” he said.

Although they no longer call it Easter break, some Omaha area public school officials still schedule spring break to coincide with the Christian holy day.
Next year, with Easter occurring late in the school year, eight of the 12 districts will do so.
District administrators told the Millard board that in recent years they have scheduled spring break earlier to avoid the period of time when students take statewide math, reading and science tests. This year, the Nebraska State Accountability testing window runs from Monday through May 6.

“This is just what it’s been throughout the ages,” he said. “It’s been considered Christmas break. Why do we even break at this time of the year? What is the purpose? This is why the break was even established, because of the Christmas holiday.”

Britons should be "more confident about our status as a Christian country", Prime Minister David Cameron has said.
Although he described himself as a "classic" member of the Church of England - "not that regular in attendance, and a bit vague on some of the more difficult parts of the faith" - he rejected the idea that in an "ever more secular age" people should not talk about their religion.
"Crucially, the Christian values of responsibility, hard work, charity, compassion, humility, and love are shared by people of every faith and none - and we should be confident in standing up to defend them," he wrote.
Last week, in his Easter message, he spoke of the "peace" he found in Christianity.

From "Tony Blair: west must take sides against growing threat of radical Islam" by Patrick Wintour, political editor, UK Guardian 4/23/14
Western military intervention in the Middle East has so far failed due to the distorting impact of an Islamic extremism so opposed to modernity that it could yet engender global catastrophe, Tony Blair warned on Wednesday in a keynote speech on the state of politics in the Middle East.
[He urged the west] to counter the Islamic extremism that lies at the root of all failures of western intervention.
He said: "For the last 40 to 50 years, there has been a steady stream of funding, proselytising, organising and promulgating coming out of the Middle East, pushing views of religion that are narrow minded and dangerous. Unfortunately we seem blind to the enormous global impact such teaching has had and is having.
Insisting that the west had to take sides, he described Islamic extremism as "not about a competing view of how society or politics should be governed within a common space where you accept other views are equally valid. It is exclusivist in nature. The ultimate goal is not a society which someone else can change after winning an election. It is a society of a fixed polity, governed by religious doctrines that are not changeable but which are, of their essence, unchangeable."
"But what is absolutely necessary is that we first liberate ourselves from our own attitude. We have to take sides. We have to stop treating each country on the basis of whatever seems to make for the easiest life for us at any one time. We have to have an approach to the region that is coherent and sees it as a whole. And above all, we have to commit. We have to engage"

Pres. Obama's Homosexual Easter at the White House
Although all studies show that only one or two percent of the American population claims to be homosexual, the Obama administration celebrates deviant sexual behavior 100% of the time. Yesterday, President Obama and Gay Gene Robinson, retired bishop of the Episcopal Church, both claimed to represent Christianity at the annual White House Easter prayer breakfast.

The breakfast marks the beginning of Holy Week at the White House, a tradition started by the Obama Administration in 2010 to celebrate the life and death of Jesus Christ.
“I want to thank you for your ministries, for your good works, for the marching you do for justice, and dignity and inclusion,” Obama told the gathered leaders, before closing with the facetious prayer, "Lord fill my mouth with worthwhile stuff and nudge me when I’ve said enough.”
Pastor Joel Hunter offered the opening prayer, and the sermon was delivered by Reverend Otis Moss, who replaced the controversial Jeremiah Wright at Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ. Carlos Whittaker, a Christian singer/songwriter performed.

The Obamas worshipped at St. John’s on Easter 2009, and they have visited the Episcopal congregation, which is led by the Rev. Luis Leon, numerous times, including last year.
Quoting from John 20:1-18, Leon said in the same way that Jesus told Mary Magdalene not to hold on to him, it is time for conservatives to stop holding on to what he considers outdated stances in matters of race, gender equality, homosexuals and immigrants.
“It drives me crazy when the captains of the religious right are always calling us back . . . for blacks to be back in the back of the bus . . . for women to be back in the kitchen . . . for immigrants to be back on their side of the border,” Leon said.
After the sermon, Leon told The Washington Post that he was speaking about Mary realizing that she shouldn’t hold on, accepting it and changing from that point on.

The sermon at the service, delivered by Dr. Luis Leon, an Episcopal pastor who delivered the benediction at Mr. Obama's second inauguration, took a turn for the political when the pastor decried those who wax nostalgic about the way things once were.
"I hear all the time the expression 'the good old days'," Leon said. "Well, the good old days, we forget they have been good for some, but they weren't good for everybody.
"You can't go back, you can't live in the past," he added. . . .

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney walked a line between refusing to criticize the pastor who charged the “religious right” with racism while distancing President Obama from the remarks by emphasizing that the Obama family only attended the church service due to tradition.
“I wasn’t there and I have not spoken with the president,” Carney told reporters. “I know that he enjoys going to easter services with his family. “In keeping with the tradition that dates back many presidencies, he went right across the park here to St. John’s Episcopal Church and attended services there.”
Carney refused to comment on the sermon. “Again, I wasn’t there — I don’t have a characterization of his comments,” he said.

"You can't go back, you can't live in the past," he added. . . .

Watson, Masters Golf Winner Glorifies Christ on Easter
The secular media finds itself having to deal with yet another outspoken Christian superstar athlete as Bubba Watson praises Jesus Christ after winning PGA golf's most coveted Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia (at the club where they don't accept women members).
-- From "Bubba Watson Shares His Christian Faith After Masters Win" reported by Huffington Post 4/10/12
Bubba Watson has joined Jeremy Lin and Tim Tebow in a trinity of outstanding Christian athletes.
Bubba Watson won the Masters Golf Tournament on Easter Sunday in Augusta, Georgia and lost no time in showing his gratitude.
"I'd like to first thank Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior," Watson said after putting on the famed green jacket (you can watch it at 00:50 in the above video).
Bubba's faith was very strong after winning the Masters when he sent out this celebratory tweets telling the world who he believes is his true master

From "Bubba Watson tweets his faith, 'showing the Light'" by Cathy Lynn Grossman, USA TODAY 4/10/12
The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association . . . story talks about Watson's evolution as a believer, from finding church in high school to a more serious commitment to Christ in college. The 33-year-old said, "For me, it's just showing the Light. There's people who want to put down Christians. I try to tell them Jesus loves you. It's just a way to be strong in my faith."
Watson is a regular in the PGA Tour's weekly Bible study, along with Rickie Fowler, Matt Kuchar, Zach Johnson, Jonathan Byrd and Webb Simpson and 16 to 50 others on a given week when the group meets during a tournament, the BGEA story says.

He's a devout Christian, who frankly, wasn't always the nicest man in the history of the sport. Watson was guarded with the media, annoyed fellow playing partners with a combination of slow play and disrespect.
"I was going the wrong way," said Watson. "I was so wrapped up in what everybody else was doing; why is he beating me; why is this; why is that; why can't I make putts; why can't I make the cut; why can't I do this."
He changed, in part due to his faith, and the results have been noticeable. Watson now has four wins, all coming in the last three years, and is a major champion.
If overt religious-ness is not your thing, there's also the uplifting personal odyssey of Watson and his wife, Angie, adopting a baby boy named Caleb last month.
"The first date me and Angie ever had, she told me she was going to have to adopt, she couldn't have kids and I said, 'That's fine. I said if God tells us he wants us to adopt, we'll adopt,'" Watson said.

From "Bubba golf has no bounds" by Garry Smits, Morris News Service 4/9/12
Watson said adopting his son has been one more piece of a family puzzle in which he’s tried to tone down his live-wire personality. Watson said golf was getting to him in all the wrong ways, to the point where his wife, his caddie, Ted Scott and close friends had a series of sit-downs with him about his attitude.
Scott threatening to quit shook Watson to his core, because they already were close friends. Becoming a Christian in 2004 helped the most.
“It hit home,” Watson said. “It’s a slow process. This year, it’s gotten better. Last year was a little better and hopefully the years to come it gets better and better.”
He’ll never apologize for his emotions. With his wife home attending to their child, Watson broke down sobbing in his mother Molly’s arms after winning the Masters. When asked about his son in post-tournament interviews, and his deceased father, Watson found it difficult to speak.

"I never got this far in my dreams, so it's not a dream come true," he said. "It's a blessing. To go home to my new son will be a lot of fun."
"Golf isn't everything for me. If I would have lost today, it wouldn't have been the end of the world. To win is awesome, but I'll go back to real life next week," Watson said. "I still haven't changed a diaper."
While the golfer has taken to his Twitter to thank fans who have supported him during and after his big win, Watson made sure to continue glorifying God on his social media account.
"1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus," Watson tweeted. "To God be the Glory! #Masters."

Pope Says Public Opinion Won't Liberalize Church
While the American mainstream media report that at least 60% of Catholics think priests should marry, women should be priests, and that the Church is out of touch, the Pope holds firm to Catholic tradition.

-- From "Pope criticizes priests who question celibacy rule, says priest shortage no reason to disobey teachings" by Nicole Winfield, Associated Press 4/6/12
In 2006, a group of Austrian priests launched the Pfarrer Initiative, or pastor initiative, a call to disobedience aimed at abolishing priestly celibacy and opening the clergy to women to relieve the shortages of priests.
Last June, the group's members essentially threatened a schism, saying the Vatican's refusal to hear their complaints left them no choice but to "follow our conscience and act independently."
In his homily, Benedict, who turns 85 this month, said the dissidents claim to be motivated by concern for the church. But he suggested that in reality they were just making "a desperate push to do something to change the church in accordance with (their) own preferences."
He said Jesus always followed true obedience to God's will, not "human caprice."

From "Pope assails 'disobedience' among priests" by Rachel Donadio, New York Times 4/5/12
Striking the tone that once earned him the nickname "God's Rottweiler," Pope Benedict XVI in a stern Holy Thursday homily denounced "disobedience" in the Roman Catholic Church, chastising priests who sought the ordination of women and the abolition of priestly celibacy.
In his homily, Benedict made clear that reforms could go against church doctrine. He singled out "a group of priests from a European country" who had recently "issued a summons to disobedience."
[The Austrian priests] did this to the point of disregarding church teaching and encouraging "women's ordination, for which Blessed Pope John Paul II stated irrevocably that the church has received no authority from the Lord," Benedict said

According to inside sources, the head of the Austrian Catholic Church and cardinal archbishop of Vienna, Christoph Schönborn, was not informed ahead of time of Pope Benedict XVI’s intention to criticise a group of dissident priests in his sermon at St. Peter’s Basilica on Thursday night. Today it was revealed that Schönborn received a letter from the Vatican demanding action, after ten months of “discussion” between the cardinal and the group calling itself the “Austrian Priests’ Initiative.”
In 2010, Cardinal Schönborn criticised the Church for what he characterised as its refusal to accept homosexual relations. Schönborn told the far-left UK Tablet magazine that the Church should also consider allowing divorced and remarried Catholics to receive Communion since “many people don’t even marry at all any longer.”
“We should give more consideration to the quality of homosexual relationships. A stable relationship is certainly better than if someone chooses to be promiscuous,” Schönborn said.
Pope Benedict devoted the bulk of his sermon on Thursday night to the situation, saying, “Do we sense here anything of that configuration to Christ which is the precondition for true renewal, or do we merely sense a desperate push to do something to change the Church in accordance with one’s own preferences and ideas?”

President Obama Reads Easter Message Speech
At the annual Easter Prayer Breakfast at the White House, President Obama awkwardly read a prepared text with scripture passages. The speech referred to Jesus Christ as "A Son of God."
The adoring crowd cheered the president when he read “But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Speaking to a gathering of Christian leaders in the White House's East Room, Obama said Easter is "an opportunity for us to reflect on the triumph of the resurrection, and to give thanks for the all-important gift of grace."
"And for me, and I'm sure for some of you, it's also a chance to remember the tremendous sacrifice that led up to that day, and all that Christ endured -- not just as a son of God, but as a human being," Obama said.
The Democratic president also expressed appreciation for those who pray for him.
"It especially means a lot to us when we hear from folks who we know probably didn't vote for me and yet, expressing extraordinary sincerity about their prayers," Obama said. "And it's a reminder not only of what binds us together as a nation, but also what binds us together as children of God."

Obama Ramadan Proclamation Low-key, Having Missed Easter
In contrast to the President's past years' celebratory proclamations for the Muslim occasion of Ramadan, this year he's sounding a lot less Muslim, lest his supposed Christianity be questioned (again) -- having failed to issue any proclamation for Easter.
UPDATE 8/11/11: Obama Honors 9/11 Muslim Heroes at White House
First, watch President Obama's Ramadan message in August 2009:
This week, the President only issued a written proclamation (no video), which sounds more traditionally "American" than the above video. Here's the document, in full:
From "Statement by the President on the Occasion of Ramadan" by Office of the Press Secretary, The White House 8/1/11
As Ramadan begins, Michelle and I would like to send our best wishes to Muslim communities in the United States and around the world. Ramadan is a festive time that is anticipated for months by Muslims everywhere. Families and communities share the happiness of gathering together for iftar and prayers. Bazaars light up the night in many cities from Rabat to Jakarta. And here in the United States, Muslim Americans share Ramadan traditions with their neighbors, fellow students, and co-workers.
For so many Muslims around the world, Ramadan is also a time of deep reflection and sacrifice. As in other faiths, fasting is used to increase spirituality, discipline, and consciousness of God's mercy. It is also a reminder of the importance of reaching out to those less fortunate. The heartbreaking accounts of lost lives and the images of families and children in Somalia and the Horn of Africa struggling to survive remind us of our common humanity and compel us to act. Now is the time for nations and peoples to come together to avert an even worse catastrophe by offering support and assistance to on-going relief efforts.
Times like this remind us of the lesson of all great faiths, including Islam -- that we do unto others as we would have them do unto us. In that spirit, I wish Muslims around the world a blessed month, and I look forward to again hosting an iftar dinner here at the White House. Ramadan Kareem.
From "Obama Issues Statement Marking Ramadan, But No Easter Statement This Year" by Penny Starr, CNSNews.com 8/2/11
A review of presidential statements documented at whitehouse.gov indicates that Obama has apparently not issued a statement specifically about Easter since taking office in January 2009.
In 2009, Easter fell on April 12. During that month, Obama made multiple statements on a wide range of issues, including Armenian Remembrance Day, World Malaria Day, the Month of the Military Child, and the passage of the Credit Cardholders’ Bill of Rights.
In 2010, Easter fell on April 4. The numerous statements issued by Obama during that month included one on financial reform and, for the second year in the row, Armenian Remembrance Day. Obama also issued statements that month on Earth Day, his planned trip to Poland, voters’ rights in the District of Columbia, a Russian plutonium reactor, and Holocaust Remembrance Day.
This year, Easter was celebrated on April 24. During that month, Obama again issued a statement marking Armenian Remembrance Day. Statements were also made by Obama on the 16th anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing, the 17th anniversary of the genocide in Rwanda, and the work of the United Nations in Afghanistan. He also issued a Passover message on April 15.

Rev. Graham Talks Jesus, Obama Talks Graham
In Easter Sunday morning's interview, ABC News gave Rev. Franklin Graham the opportunity to give a remarkable Christian witness, but the White House focused on Rev. Graham's suggestion that Obama provide America with his birth records.

UPDATE 4/26/11 Franklin Graham amplifies ABC interview on FOX News:
UPDATE 2/29/12: Graham apologizes for implying that he can't discern if Obama is a Christian
-- From "'This Week' Transcript: God and Government" ABC News 4/24/11
ABC NEWS CHRISTIANE AMANPOUR: What's the word that you most dearly associate with Easter? Is it sacrifice, is it love? What is it?
REV. FRANKLIN GRAHAM: It's all of that. It's God's love, it's the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for me. When I look at Easter, I look at my sins and realize that Jesus Christ paid my debt in full when he died on that cross, he died for me, he died for you, Christiane
AMANPOUR: you have also said that we live in the time of the anti-Christ.
GRAHAM: Yes.
AMANPOUR: How do you reconcile those two?
GRAHAM: I look at the world in which we live today, and the secularism is anti-Christ. It's every bit anti-Christ. We can't talk about Jesus in our schools. God has been kicked out of our government. Whether it's Europe or whether it's here, yes. The spirit of anti-Christ is in the world today.
AMANPOUR: So, describe what sort of era we are, Biblically right now, in terms of a second coming, in terms of a change.
GRAHAM: Well, I believe we're -- no question, I believe we are in the latter days of this age. When I say "latter days," could it be the last hundred years or the last thousand years or the last six months, I don't know. But the Bible, the things that the Bible predicts, earthquakes and famines, nation rising against nation, we see this happening with more frequency and more intensity. But there's other things. When the anti-Christ comes, we talk about the number of the anti-Christ, that he'll have an economic mark that will be on your forehand -- or, on your right hand or your forehead. And that economic mark, you can't buy, sell, or trade unless you have that number.
AMANPOUR: And you believe in that? [She asked with amazement on her face]
GRAHAM: I believe the Bible, Christiane, from cover to cover. Absolutely word-for-word. I believe the Bible.

Graham, who 10 years ago delivered the opening prayer at the first inauguration of George W. Bush, told ABC's This Week with Christiane Amanpour Sunday that Obama "has some issues to deal with" when it comes to proving his nationality.
"He can solve this whole birth certificate issue pretty quickly," the son of the Rev. Billy Graham said. "I was born in a hospital in Asheville, N.C., and I know that my records are there. You can probably even go and find out what room my mother was in when I was born. I don't know why he can't produce that."
In the last question tossed at him during Monday's White House briefing, [White House spokeman Jay] Carney was asked to comment on Graham's musings, as well as his recent allegation that the Muslim Brotherhood had infiltrated the Obama administration.
"I think it's unfortunate that a religious leader would choose Easter Sunday to make preposterous charges," Carney said. "And I'll leave it at that."

The eldest son of renowned evangelist Billy Graham, who was often affectionately called the pastor to presidents, also seemed to question Obama’s definition of Christian when he was asked if he believes Obama is a Christian or Muslim. Graham said that Obama has told him he is a Christian, but the evangelical leader said the debate is how does Obama define Christian.
“For him, going to church means he’s a Christian. For me, the definition of a Christian is whether we have given our life to Christ and are following him in faith, and we have trusted him as our Lord and Savior,” said the BGEA president. “That’s the definition of a Christian; it’s not as to what church you’re a member of. A membership doesn’t make you a Christian.”

Last Easter, the Obamas worshipped at a historically black Methodist church in a different part of the city. In 2009, Obama visited St. John’s Church across Lafayette Square from the White House, the pale yellow place of worship that other presidents have favored over the years.
Attending a National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday, Obama said his faith has deepened during his two years in the White House and he urged members of Congress to rely on their own faith to build a spirit of civility in Washington. He said that at a time of bitter partisanship, lawmakers must find a way to be open to the ideas of others, while staying true to their core principles.
“I pray that God will show me and all of us the limits of our understanding and open our ears and our hearts to our brothers and sisters with different points of view, that such reminders of our shared hopes and our shared dreams and our shared limitations as children of God will reveal a way forward that we can travel together,” the president said.

Pagans, Liberal 'christians' Celebrate Earth on Good Friday
With today's convergence of the Christian recognition of Good Friday, and the modern pagan celebration of Earth Day, the divergence of reverence could not be more distinct: Those who worship the Creator, and those who worship the creation.
For background, read Evangelicals Warn of Cult of Environmentalism and also read Environmentalist 'christians' Say Man Controls Nature, Not God
-- From "Good Friday and Earth Day: Freedom and Slavery" by Anthony J. Sadar and Susan T. Cammarata, American Thinker 4/22/11
The two occasions could not be more dissimilar.
The message and acts of Jesus focused on people. And, in addition to love and grace, freedom was one of his main evangels. This freedom was from all ungodly yokes, which includes the sacrosanct norms and standards of today's progressive environmentalism.
While familiarity with the structure and strictures of world religions is quite common, familiarity with environmentalism as religion is not as common. Progressive environmentalism from its modern inception in 1962 with Rachel Carson's Silent Spring quickly emerged as a kind of faith that rivals the traditional religions of the world. It has all the trappings of a religion including a god (Mother Earth or Gaia); holy writs (Silent Spring, The Population Bomb); mantras ("Love your Mother," "Save the Planet"); doctrines (capitalism and industrialization are evil; socialism and eating low on the food chain are righteous); dead saints (John Muir, Rachel Carson); and, of course, holidays. Besides Earth Day, there is the U.N. sponsored World Environment Day on June 5 and World Ozone Day on September 5, among others.
No sensible, caring person denies that good stewardship is required for the wise use of natural resources and arable lands. However, what has arisen with progressive environmentalism is a careless denial of the sensible.

[Liberal "christian" Earth Day] Proponents say that planting trees and meditating on ways humanity has wounded the earth can parallel devotions that mark Jesus' sacrifice, but opponents say that a political message, even a pagan one, is being pushed onto sacred territory.
"This year's Earth Day falls on Good Friday. This is a right and appropriate occasion to remember the cross, which was made out of trees, leads us from bondage to liberation, death to life," said the National Council of Churches in India, which groups 30 Orthodox and Protestant churches.
Earth Day has been observed on 22 April since 1970 and is considered one of the seminal events in the modern environmental movement; Good Friday is on a different date each year since it moves according to the observance of Easter.
In the U.S., the Episcopal Church, based in New York, has compiled resources for incorporating earth-care themes into services and celebrations, according to Episcopal News Service.

Two of the world’s holiest religious holidays are set to fall on April 22 this year — Good Friday for Christians and Earth Day for environmentalists — and some religious leaders are preparing their flocks to celebrate both.
The Episcopal Church’s office of Economic and Environmental Affairs released a statement urging followers to stay mindful of global warming, recycling and reducing carbon dioxide emissions while celebrating the ancient Christian holiday in 2011.
The church set up a website for the celebration of Earth Day, complete with links to resources on how to best get involved on the extra special day.

"This year Earth Day falls within Holy Week, specifically on Good Friday, a profound coincidence," said Mike Schut, the economic and environmental affairs officer of the Episcopal Church, in a statement.
To "fully honor Earth Day," he said, Christians must reclaim the theology that "knows Earth is very good."
"On Good Friday, the day we mark the crucifixion of Christ, God in the flesh, might we suggest that when Earth is degraded, when species go extinct, that another part of God's body experiences yet another sort of crucifixion — that another way of seeing and experiencing God is diminished?" Schut said.
"Good Friday is indeed Earth Day, for we of faith realize anew ... the cost of God loving this world," said Cliff Stewart, pastor of First Central Presbyterian Church.

From "Good Friday: Google Celebrates Earth, Ignores Jesus" by Erin R. Brown, Culture and Media Institute 4/22/11
For nearly 2,000 years, Christians and Catholics around the world have celebrated the day Jesus Christ died upon the cross at Calvary for the sins of the world - but by looking at Google, you wouldn't know that today is that day. Google's homepage, famous for its ever changing logo to reflect important holidays, accomplishments and achievements, is not displaying any acknowledgement of the Christian holiday known as 'Good Friday.'
The company has instead decided to portray its logo hidden in a lush animated garden to commemorate 'Earth Day.' Earth Day, while internationally recognized as a day for the eco-friendly and environmentally conscious, was concocted 41 years ago, born out of the anti-war hippy movement and spawned in part by Rachel Carson's book, 'Silent Spring.'
The Culture and Media Institute found that 65 percent of stories that discussed 'Easter' among network evening news shows in 2010 were negative, and 91 percent of those stories connected the holiday with the pedophilia scandal that surrounded the Catholic Church. Not surprisingly, every Earth Day story that ABC, CBS, and NBC nightly news shows broadcasted were glowingly positive about saving Mother Earth.

Google has frequently added images to its homepage to mark significant events; recent Google Doodles were created to mark the 50th anniversary of the first man in space on April 12 and Charlie Chaplin's birthday on April 16.
Now in its 41st year, Earth Day is an international environmental campaign aimed at raising awareness of climate change. Celebrities, businesses and individuals around the world are supporting the campaign through a series of events.
The organizers behind Earth Day are also encouraging individuals to publically pledge to do an environmentally friendly action, such as recycle more, as part of Earth Day's Billion Acts of Green campaign. The organizers hope they can collect a billion public pledges before the global Earth Summit in Rio in 2012.

Obama's Easter Re-election Campaign
This year's White House Easter celebration uses the slogan 'Get Up and Go!' to kick off the 2012 campaign, and President Obama used the Easter Prayer Breakfast to try, again, to convince Americans that he's Christian.

On Tuesday, the White House released the details for this year’s event, with the theme “Get Up and Go!”
Along with the musical performances and the traditional egg roll competition, there will be celebrity storytelling, a dance party, an obstacle course, basketball, tennis, yoga and arts and crafts. White House chefs and celebrity guest chefs will teach healthy eating habits at a special food station.
The souvenir eggs will be available in purple, green, yellow and pink pastels and stamped with the signature of the president and the first lady.

President Obama tells Christian leaders at the Easter Prayer Breakfast that nothing gives him more perspective than the Bible ...The morning after hosting a Passover seder, President Obama told Christian leaders at the White House that the Bible gives him perspective more than anything else, including his family.
“In the middle of these critical national debates, in the middle of our busy lives, we must always make sure that we are keeping things in perspective,” Obama said at the second Easter Prayer Breakfast he’s hosted as president. “Children help do that. A strong spouse helps do that. But nothing beats scripture and the reminder of the eternal.”
“As busy as we are, as many tasks that pile up during this season, we are reminded that there is something about the resurrection – something about the resurrection of our savior Jesus Christ, that puts everything else in perspective,” Obama said.

During the speech, Obama reflected on Christ’s crucifixion. “And we’re reminded that in that moment, he took on the sins of the world--past, present and future -- and he extended to us that unfathomable gift of grace and salvation through his death and resurrection,” said Obama.
“In the words of the book Isaiah: ‘But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.’”
“This magnificent grace, this expansive grace, this ‘Amazing Grace’ calls me to reflect,” Obama said. “And it calls me to pray. It calls me to ask God for forgiveness for the times that I’ve not shown grace to others, those times that I’ve fallen short. It calls me to praise God for the gift of our son--his Son and our Savior.”
