America's First All-Gay K-12 School: Atlanta

“Pride School Atlanta” is being launched from the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta by a middle-aged transgender entrepreneur (currently) named Christian Zsilavetz to provide a $13,000-annual-tuition, non-judgmental education that is “free of homophobia and transphobia” for any student considered “different.”  However, the unanswered question is, Who is labeling the children, as young as five, as gay?

Their first student could be this 6-year-old girl (who WAS a 52-year-old man).

And, their first teacher could be any one of these sexual-predator homosexual teachers.

For background on how America's PUBLIC schools are "going gay," read President Obama Forces Wildest Transgender Agenda on Children Using Full Force of Federal Government and now Hillary Clinton Promises Even MORE 'Transgender/Gay Rights'

-- From "Atlanta to open first-ever pride school for LGBT students" by Kerry Cardoza, Chicago Sun-Times 1/7/16

“Kids have full permission to be themselves — as well as educators. Where there’s no wondering, ‘Is this teacher going to be a person for me to be myself with?’” Zsilavetz told the AP.

According to the school’s website, the teaching model offers a flexible curriculum with “no mandatory homework or testing.” The open-learning model is designed to encourage students to pursue subjects they are interested in.

From "New Georgia School to Target Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender" posted by Tony Pottson, Coosa Valley News (Rome, GA) 1/4/16

The school would be modeled after the Harvey Milk school in New York City and other education centers across the country designed for, but not limited to, LGBT youth.

According to the school’s website “All students will have the freedom, responsibility, and support to create their own individualized curriculum, education, and school climate through trust and democratic decision-making processes. Sometimes students thrive on structure in their day, and at other times freedom. In our model, borrowed from longstanding schools around the world, curriculum is flexible and there is no mandatory homework or testing. Students are free to discover what, when and how they prefer to learn, trusted that their natural curiosity and desire to pursue personal goals will lead them to a rigorous and rich education. Each day will be full of opportunities for each member of the Pride School Family to become the best person they can be, ready to face the world with confidence, knowledge, and the ability to help others do the same.”

From "School for LGBT youth called first of its kind in Georgia" by Rose French, The Associated Press 1/4/16

It is part of a small but growing group of schools popping up nationally geared toward educating LGBT youth, who feel disenfranchised from public education. Pride School would be the first of its kind in the Southeast and, according to gay rights advocates, a significant development for the LGBT movement.

Zsilavetz, 45, who's taught math and other subjects since 1992, says he never felt truly open or supported by administrators while teaching in public schools and wanted that to change. He wanted LGBT students and teachers to be able to openly discuss who they are in a school setting without fear.

From "Atlanta To Feature New School Aimed At Gay Kids" by Blake Neff, Reporter, Daily Caller 1/5/16

“Pride School Atlanta admits students of any race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, age, disability, affectional preference, sexual orientation, marital or relationship status, gender identity or gender expression to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school,” the school-to-be says on its website.

Besides being intended for gay and transgender students, the school also hopes to create a welcoming environment for transgender teachers who may encounter hostility in a public school environment.

The school isn’t the first one to put a focus on gay students. New York City actually has a public high school, Harvey Milk High School, that is designed for LGBT students. Pride School, though, will be K-12, and it is the first school of its kind built in the conservative American South.

Calif. Schools Offer 'Gay Curriculum'

Last school year, The Athenian School in Danville and Maybeck High School in Berkeley both began classes examining the history, contributions and other cultures' views of gays, lesbians, bisexuals and the transgendered.

-- From "East Bay schools offer gay studies for high school students" by Eric Louie, Contra Costa Times 5/21/11

Teachers at both The Athenian and Maybeck High, where the classes are considered advanced and open to juniors and seniors who fulfill other requirements, said they already have provided a supportive environment.

Will Grant, who teaches The Athenian's "Gay Pride, Gender Outlaws and Radical Love" class, said Proposition 8, approved by voters in 2008, was a catalyst. That law banned same-sex marriage and is being contested in the courts,

Eric de Lora, who teaches the one-semester "LGBT (Queer) History" class at Maybeck, said there were 14 students when he first taught the one-semester class last year. He said there are many topics that make the class important, such as the repeal of the "don't ask, don't tell" policy on gays in the military and anti-gay bullying that has led to youth suicides. But he said what made the class come about is student interest.

Abortion Funding Nixed in D.C., Still Funding Planned Parenthood

By continuing funding to the abortion industry, Congressional conservatives sacrificed the unborn so national parks wouldn't close for a few days, but they did stop abortion funding in the District of Columbia.

For background, read Federal Government Shutdown Over Abortion

UPDATE 4/12/11: Donations to Planned Parenthood Soar - Is federal funding even necessary?

-- From "Deal curbs D.C. abortions, includes other social issues" by Carrie Budoff Brown, Politico 4/9/11

Democrats beat back Republican attempts to cut funding for women’s health services, including for organizations like Planned Parenthood.

But Democrats did agree to ban the District of Columbia from using federal and local taxpayer funds on abortions — a move already being cheered by abortion opponents as a noteworthy victory.

The deal also includes a guarantee that the Senate will vote on bill that would end federal funding for Planned Parenthood, according to a House Republican summary.

Such a bill is unlikely to make it through the Senate, but the vote will put moderate Democrats and Republicans, particularly those facing tough reelections next year, on the spot.

From "Budget deal includes abortion and school voucher riders" posted at WTOP FM-103.5 (Washington D.C.) 4/9/11

One of the policy "riders" still included in the budget would prevent the city from using any local or federal money to pay for abortions for low-income residents.

Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton has been fighting against that provision.

The deal also includes money to restart the city's school voucher program.

The D.C. Opportunity Scholarship program has been a top priority of House Speaker John Boehner. It's the only program that uses federal tax dollars to subsidize private-school tuition.

From "For D.C., Budget Deal Revives School Voucher Program, Reinstates Ban on Abortion Funding" posted at FoxNews.com 4/9/11

The GOP-led House voted to reinstate the [voucher] program last month and passed a stopgap measure this week that included the abortion rider. But those bills had little chance to go any further with the Obama administration opposed to vouchers and the abortion rider.

Congress eliminated the voucher program in 2009. Critics of vouchers, including teachers unions, say it draws money away from public schools.

In 2009, the Obama administration lifted the ban on D.C. funding abortions. But earlier this year, House Republicans proposed reinstating the ban in a larger bill that would effectively make permanent a string of separate restrictions, including the so-called Hyde Amendment, which have to be renewed periodically by Congress.

Schools Teach Sharia Law & Anti-Semitism

Thousands of British students in private schools are being taught techniques to chop off the hands of thieves, and that sub-human Jews are scheming world domination.

Read Prime Minister's warning: Multiculturalism Destroys Free Society, Cultures Terrorists

-- From "Muslim pupils learn to cut off hands of thieves" by Graham Paton, London Telegraph 11/21/10

Up to 5,000 pupils attending weekend schools across Britain are being exposed to textbooks claiming that some Jews were transformed into pigs and apes, and that some offences could be punished with stoning. One book for six year-olds warns that those who do not believe in Islam will be condemned to “hellfire” in death.

Another text for 15 year-olds teaches that thieves who break Sharia law should have their hands cut off for a first offence and their feet amputated for a subsequent crime. Teenagers are presented with diagrams showing where the cuts should be made.

For acts of sodomy, children are told that the penalty is death. A textbook says there are different views on whether this should be done by stoning, or burning with fire, or throwing over a cliff. Textbooks for 15 year-olds revive the “Protocols of the Elders of Zion” which teach that Jews want world domination.

. . . researchers claimed in a separate report that the education system was “not equipped” to deal with the threats posed by extremist organisations. The Policy Exchange think-tank said the Coalition’s new free schools, run by parents, teachers and charities, could be exploited by organisations seeking to indoctrinate young people. It also claimed that checks on groups running private schools were “piecemeal, partial and lack depth”.

European Union Drops Christmas in Favor of Non-christians

The European Commission has come under fire for producing more than three million copies of an EU diary for secondary schools which contains no reference to Christmas but includes Jewish, Hindu, Sikh and Muslim festivities.

-- From "European Commission criticised for omitting Christmas on EU school diary" by Bruno Waterfield, The London Telegraph 12/17/10

More than 330,000 copies of the diaries, accompanied by 51 pages of glossy information about the EU, have been delivered to British schools as a "sought after" Christmas gift to pupils from the commission.

But Christians have been angered because the diary section for December 25 is blank and the bottom of the page with Christmas Day is marked only with the secular message: "A true friend is someone who shares your concerns and will double your joy".

While the euro calendar marks Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, Jewish and Chinese festivities as well as Europe Day and other key EU anniversaries, there are no Christian festivals marked, despite the fact Christianity is Europe's majority religion.

From "Italy calls on EU to withdraw schools diary that leaves out Christmas" by John Hooper in Rome, Guardian (U.K.) 12/23/10

Italy has demanded that the European Commission recall millions of diaries that are being distributed to schoolchildren throughout the EU because they do not mention Christmas but they do give the dates of other religions' festivals, such as Ramadan, the Islamic month of fasting, and Sikh, Hindu and Chinese feast days.

A Commission spokeswoman said it had "realised the absence of some important European religious holidays, in particular Christmas". She added: "The Commission understands the sensitivity of the issue and regrets this incident. This oversight will be rectified in future editions of the diary."

Some 3 million copies of the latest edition of the Europe Diary have been sent to schools. The commission's spokeswoman said its main purpose was "inform young Europeans as consumers and citizens on issues like rights, choices as consumers [and] climate change".

White House Forces Gay Agenda on Schools

The Obama administration threatened every school in the nation, on behalf of homosexualists, by putting schools on notice that if they don't pursue formal anti-bullying programs that normalize homosexuality, schools will be sued for any bullying incidents.

UPDATE 10/28/10: Christians respond to Dept. of Ed. threat

-- From "Obama administration campaign takes on anti-gay bullying in school" by Nick Anderson, Washington Post Staff Writer 10/26/10

"Our goal here is to provide school districts, colleges and universities with details about when harassment can rise to the level of a civil rights violation and what they should be doing about it," Russlynn H. Ali, assistant education secretary for civil rights, said Monday. Ali wrote the advisory.

As an example, Ali noted in the advisory that a gay student might withdraw from school activities after being subjected to anti-gay slurs and other intimidation. If the school reprimands the perpetrators to stop the bullying, her advisory said, that would not necessarily be enough to ensure that students are free from harassment based on gender stereotypes.

From "Education Department Cracks Down on Bullying" by Arlette Saenz, ABC News 10/26/10

The Department of Education issued guidance to educators across the country, clarifying that certain forms of bullying, such as harassment of gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgendered students based on gender stereotypes, violate federal education anti-discrimination laws, and in extreme cases, posed the possibility of pulling education funding from schools failing to comply with the department’s standards, which has never been done despite the option existing.

“It is certainly the first time that the Department has made it clear that students that are members of the gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgendered community are protected by Title IX if they are bullied or harassed for not conforming to traditional gender roles,” Ali said.

The Department of Education plans to work on the local level to eradicate bullying and the cultures that foster harassment in schools but believes everyone holds a responsibility to fight against the root causes of bullying.

From "The White House addresses bullying" by Amanda Greene, Wilmington Star News 10/26/10

[From] the press release from the White House:

“Today, the Department of Education issued guidance to support educators in combating bullying in schools by clarifying when student bullying may violate federal education anti-discrimination laws. The guidance issued today also makes clear that while current laws enforced by the department do not protect against harassment based on religion or sexual orientation, they do include protection against harassment of members of religious groups based on shared ethnic characteristics as well as gender and sexual harassment of gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, and transgender individuals.

The White House and Department of Education also announced next steps to address bullying and harassment in schools. Early next year, the White House will host a conference to raise awareness and equip young people, parents, educators, coaches and other community leaders with tools to prevent bullying and harassment. This conference will build upon efforts led by the U.S. Department of Education and other federal agencies to spark a dialogue on the ways in which communities can come together to prevent bullying and harassment.”

Feminization of Education is Destroying America

A sea change has occurred in the education of American women: young girls often academically out-perform boys, are more likely to succeed in college and have flooded once all-male professional schools, notably law and business.

-- From "The Feminization of American Education – Destroying Western Civilization?" by Robert Weissberg, Family Security Matters 10/2/09

For example, U.S. Census Bureau figures show that while the male and female population is about equal, males comprise some 58 percent of all high school drop-outs. Similarly, the number of females entering college between 1967 and 2000 increased by 20 percent, while the proportion of men declined by 4 percent. The American Council on Education’s statistics revealed that in 2005 women earned 57 percent of all BAs. Among African-Americans in college, females outnumber males by a 2 to 1 ratio, the highest ratio for any racial or ethnic group. In fact, at historically black colleges female graduates out-number males by 10 to 1!

Less visible is how this influx of women has shaped what might be called the “style” of knowledge creation and dissemination, and here the news may be less welcome. To be blunt, burgeoning feminization typically emasculates males and their resulting flight from education is a huge though almost invisible national loss. This is an awkward to discuss phenomenon and statistical evidence sketchy, so explication must be largely anecdotal. Still, the appalling potential consequences of feminization warrant discussion.

'Higher Education' Minus the Learning

As America laments high school graduates who can't read their diploma, thus necessitating extended studies at junior college and other so-called 'institutes of learning,' even elite colleges and universities entice students into debt to study Batman, pimps, and sin.

These institutions fear that a course catalog presenting hard studies "might scare students off."

Draining the economy? It would seem that the current purpose of America's education system is to create perpetual students -- consuming tax dollars and imprisoning potential human resources.

-- From "Colleges find juicy titles swell enrollment" by Peter Schworm, Boston Globe Staff 9/8/09

As schools compete for students and faculty come under pressure to boost enrollment in their classes, colleges from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst to Wellesley are jazzing up course catalogs to entice a generation of students drawn to the dramatic. This year’s offerings include crowd-pleasing topics like massacres, superheroes, and sin.

Jessica Holmes, a 38-year-old economics professor at Middlebury, is part of the younger wave. This fall, she will teach Economics of Sin, a titillating title that has sparked sharp interest, with even faculty, staff, and community members looking to audit the class.

“In what other economics class will they have the opportunity to explore pornography, prostitution, crime and punishment, drugs and drug legalization, the sale of human organs, and gambling?” Holmes asked.

The trend toward more inventive, provocative course names reflects a broader movement of professors using more creative teaching methods to capture students’ interest, Holmes and other academics say.

In that way, the catchy titles go beyond savvy marketing, a shorthand way to show students raised on text messaging and Facebook that the course has a contemporary edge. They also signal a shift away from stuffy lectures and abstruse textbooks to discussion-based, multimedia classes, and winkingly suggest the class might be entertaining.

When it came time to name his philosophy seminar last year, Jeffrey Bernstein, an associate professor of philosophy at the College of the Holy Cross, went the highbrow route with Iconoclasm and Theogony: A Tale of Two Transgressions.

Only 25% of Britons are Darwinists

More than one-fifth prefer creationism or intelligent design, while many others are confused about Darwin's theory

-- From "Half of Britons do not believe in evolution, survey finds" by Riazat Butt, religious affairs correspondent, The Guardian 2/1/09

The poll found that 25% of Britons believe Charles Darwin's theory of evolution is "definitely true", with another quarter saying it is "probably true". Half of the 2,060 people questioned were either strongly opposed to the theory or confused about it.

The Rescuing Darwin survey, published to coincide with the 200th anniversary of Darwin's birth and the 150th anniversary of the publication of On the Origin of Species, found that around 10% of people chose young Earth creationism – the belief that God created the world some time in the last 10,000 years – over evolution.

About 12% preferred intelligent design, the idea that evolution alone is not enough to explain the structures of living organisms. The remainder were unsure, often mixing evolution, intelligent design and creationism together. The survey was conducted by the polling agency ComRes on behalf of the Theos thinktank.

A spokesman for Sense about Science, an independent charitable trust, said it was important for scientists and educators to disentangle religious belief from evidence [sic].

Religious Killing OK Says One-third of Muslim Students in UK

"[A] startlingly large proportion of young British Muslims hold what to most of us are outrageous and unacceptable views – views that they consider to be Muslim truths."

-- From "To beat extremism we must dissolve religious groups" by Minette Marrin posted at TimesOnLine 7/27/08

Four out of 10 Muslim students in Britain support the introduction of sharia into UK law for Muslims, according to a YouGov poll. Almost a third of them said that killing in the name of religion was justified; 40% said they felt it was unacceptable for Muslim men and women to associate freely; and nearly a quarter do not think that men and women are equal in the eyes of Allah.

A quarter of Muslim students said they had little or no respect for homosexuals. As for whether British Muslim servicemen should be allowed to opt out of hostilities with Muslim countries, 57% said they should and a further 25% said they were not sure.

More than half of the Muslim students were in favour of an Islamic political party to support their views in parliament. A third don’t think or don’t know whether Islam is compatible with the western notion of democracy, and a third said they were in favour of a worldwide Islamic caliphate based on sharia.

. . . these are large minorities indeed of Muslim students holding opinions that are against this country’s laws and its traditions of liberal democracy. And these are students from a sample of some of the best universities and higher education colleges.

If the brightest and best think like this, what of the rest? It is frightening to imagine the views of their less well educated contemporaries. All this seems to undermine yet another piece of conventional wisdom: that education is the solution to Muslim alienation in Britain.

CLICK HERE to download the entire (.PDF) study from the Centre for Social Cohesion (CSC) "Islam on Campus."

In the mind of this British columnist, the solution is to effectively ban religion. Read on:

What follows inescapably from this [study data] is that religious people and their views should not be officially recognised in groups. Religion should not be allowed a public space or public representation. This is hard for those of us who used to love the muddled Anglican compromise; it means the disestablishment of our national church – if it doesn’t self-destruct first.

The challenge of other, fiercer and more divisive convictions has forced the issue; multiculturalism has been subversive. There must be no more religious schools – personally I would leave those that exist alone. There must be no public recognition of religious associations as representatives of anything or anybody: not on campuses, not in student unions, not in government consultations or in parliament.

So-called religious community leaders, or umbrella groups of religious bodies, must of course be free to associate as they like in private, in a free country, but publicly they must be ignored. Publicly they must not teach or promote illegal prejudices. Forced into the private sphere, denied the oxygen of publicity, power and influence, highly politicised religious groups will wither on the vine. Perhaps, in that wonderful phrase of Yeats, they might even wither into truth.

UK Religious Education Policies Violate Human Rights, Critics Say

-- From "UK Religious Education Policies Violate Human Rights, Critics Say" by Kevin McCandless, CNSNews.com Correspondent, 6/4/08

London (CNSNews.com) - Charging that the human rights of teenagers are being violated, lawmakers and humanists are calling for religious education to be scaled back in British schools.

Christianity is the official state religion in the United Kingdom, and students in most public schools are required to take religious education classes and participate in acts of collective worship.

Such acts must be predominantly Christian in nature over the course of the year and might include opportunities for prayer and mediation, or assemblies with a religious theme. Schools with a majority of students who are of other faiths can apply for an exception to this rule.

Government surveys have found that a number of schools in England have neglected daily worship, but the requirement remains a sore point for many humanists.

Parents are allowed to keep their children out of religious education and daily worship, and since 2006, pupils in their final year of school also have been allowed to choose not to participate in worship.

Last month, a parliamentary human rights committee issued a report recommending that students below the age of 16 also be allowed to opt out of religious education classes and daily worship as long as they have "sufficient maturity, intelligence and understanding."

The lawmakers said forcing a student to engage in these activities was "incompatible" with the child's freedom of thought, conscience and belief. It also violated the European Convention on Human Rights, the report said.

The report by the parliamentary committee came shortly after Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor, head of the Catholic Church in England and Wales, warned that Britain was in danger of becoming a "God-free zone."

"One of the things which I challenge is the desire to separate Christianity from rational inquiry," he said. "Many of our 'new atheists' seem unable to cope with the notion of an intelligent, reflective Christian faith."

Univ. of Wisconsin to be Headed by Lesbian

Advocates envision trend of homosexuals leading educational institutions

-- From "UW-Madison poised to name openly gay chancellor" by Ryan J. Foley, AP, posted at FOX News 5/30/08

MADISON, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Madison is set to become the biggest university with an openly gay leader, according to gay rights advocates who hail the appointment as a milestone for the movement.

Cornell University Provost Biddy Martin was recommended Wednesday to be the next chancellor at UW-Madison, a top national research university with 40,000 students.

Martin, the No. 2 official at Cornell since 2000, is a professor of women's studies and German studies and author of the 1995 book "Femininity Played Straight: The Significance of Being Lesbian."

About eight to 10 openly gay people have become college presidents and chancellors but mostly at small colleges, said Candace Gingrich of the Human Rights Campaign.

"None the size of UW-Madison," she said in a phone interview. "It is a big milestone, and it's part of the progress that we're seeing at the college and university levels. When you've got more and more openly gay faculty members and openly gay administrators, there are bound to be those who want to aspire to presidencies and chancellorships."

"They have been trailblazers in showing to the public that sexual orientation has little to nothing to do with their ability to do their job, although it definitely shapes their world view just like any other identity," [said Amit Taneja, co-chairman of the Consortium of Higher Education LGBT Resource Professionals.]

Students at the LGBT campus center erupted in cheers when they learned Martin got the job.

She was the only one of four finalists who stopped there to chat during her campus visit, said Eric Trekell, its director.

Christian Organization Defends Freedom to Praise Jesus at Graduation

Liberty Counsel will educate and, if necessary, litigate to ensure that prayer and religious views are not suppressed during graduation ceremonies across the Nation.

-- From "Friend or Foe Graduation Prayer Campaign" posted at Liberty Counsel

The purpose of Liberty Counsel's annual "Friend or Foe" Graduation Prayer Campaign is to protect religious viewpoints at graduation. Liberty Counsel will be the friend of schools that recognize the free speech rights of students and the foe of those that violate their constitutional rights. The key to graduation prayer is that the school should remain neutral - neither commanding nor prohibiting voluntary prayer or religious viewpoints.

Liberty Counsel is distributing red prayer wristbands which students can wear as a reminder to pray at graduation and all throughout the school year. The wristbands are embossed with "I WILL PRAY" and "PRAY WITHOUT CEASING - I THESS. 5:17." Students have the constitutional right to wear religious jewelry and to pray during noninstructional times while at school. Liberty Counsel also has a free legal memo on graduation prayer.

In order to receive federal funds under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, every local school district must certify that it is not engaging in any policy or practice which interferes with constitutionally protected prayer. Schools may lose federal funds if they fail to comply with the guidelines.

Darwinists' Greatest Fear: Freedom of Science

'Expelled' movie prompts four state's legislatures to advance “Academic Freedom” legislation

-- From "'Academic Freedom' Legislation Advances in Four States" by Alexander J. Sheffrin, Christian Post Reporter 5/10/08

Opponents and those who challenge some or all of the tenets of Darwinism have been encouraged recently as the “Academic Freedom” legislation advanced for review in four states.

If passed, the bills would guarantee the freedom of both teachers and students throughout public schools to share views contradicting or challenging the tenets of Darwinism in the classroom without fears of reprisal.

Lawmakers in Louisiana, Missouri, Alabama, and Michigan said that the efforts to pass the bills were a response to the concerns of teachers and students who reportedly felt marginalized, discriminated, or ostracized if they shared personal views that ran counter to Darwinism.

The Academic Freedom legislation, however, has been faced with some opposition.

Efforts in Florida to pass a bill that would have given students the opportunity to “think critically” and “constantly raise questions” regarding evolution fell flat last week when opponents criticized the bill as an attempt to infuse religion in schools.

But supporters argue that such legislation efforts are about freedom and civil discussion.

“Charles Darwin himself said that fair results could only be obtained by fully balancing and stating the facts and arguments on both sides of each question,” noted Casey Luskin, an attorney with the Discovery Institute, in a statement.

Luskin credited Ben Stein's new film, “Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed,” with contributing to the proliferation of Academic Freedom legislation. The film, which released nationwide last month, features researchers, professors, and academics who claim to have been marginalized, silenced, or threatened with academic expulsion because of their challenges to some or all parts of Darwin’s theory of evolution.

PA School trains 8-year-olds in transgender transitioning

Parents given 1-day notice of school presentation explaining boy would now wear girls' clothing

-- From "3rd-graders asked to help classmate in gender change" © 2008 WorldNetDaily 5/10/08

A Pennsylvania elementary school has angered parents by giving them one-day's notice of planned counseling sessions with 100 third-grade students to explain that one of their male classmates would soon begin wearing girls' clothing and taking a female name and to ask that they accept him as a girl and not make unkind remarks.

The exercise in "social transition" was initiated by the boy's parents who approached the administration at Chatham Park Elementary School in Haverford Township asking that the school help in having their child's female identity find acceptance among his peers. After consulting experts on transgender children, the Haverford School District sent letters to parents advising them the school guidance counselor would meet with their children, reported the Philadelphia Inquirer.

In the letter to parents, Chatham Park principal Daniel Marsella assured parents the counseling would use "developmentally appropriate language" to explain "how we need to help this student make a social transition in school."

"This is something that was going to come out," said Mary Beth Lauer, district director of community relations. "Isn't it better to be proactive, and let people know what is happening and how we're dealing with it?"

Paul McHugh, a psychiatrist and professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, was critical of the school's handing of the issue.

"They do not have a right to stop the child, but it's different when they gather everyone around and say, 'Johnnie is Jeanie," he said.

McHugh, who has studied sexual reassignment surgery for 30 years, particularly in the 1970s when Hopkins was a leader in the field, said society should not support decisions of immature persons.

"People came to us saying that if we changed them, we'd solve all their problems," he said. "So we changed them, and their problems remained."

Chatham Park guidance counselor Catherine Mallam said the students she spoke to seemed to be accepting of the boy's change of identity.

Public School Textbooks Favor Islam over Christianity

In promotion of Islam, children are taught that "jihad" to Muslims means "doing good works"

UPDATE 8/3/13: Islam Favored over Christianity in Florida Textbook

-- From "History textbooks promoting Islam" By Bob Unruh © WorldNetDaily 5/10/08

The new report is from the American Textbook Council, which was established in 1989 as an independent national research organization to review social studies textbooks and advance the quality of instructional materials in history.

In the two-year project, whose report was authored by Gilbert T. Sewall, the ATC reviewed five junior and five high school world and American history texts, concluding:

"Many political and religious groups try to use the textbook process to their advantage, but the deficiencies in Islam-related lessons are uniquely disturbing. History textbooks present an incomplete and confected view of Islam that misrepresents its foundations and challenges to international security."

"The upsetting part is not only do they go into the history (which would be acceptable) but also the teaching of Islam," [a parent] said. "This book does not really go into Christianity or the teachings of Christ, nor does it address religious doctrine elsewhere to the degree it does Islam."

[The parent continued saying] the book's one page referencing Jews "is only to convey that they were tortured by Crusaders to get them to convert to 'Christianity.' (It fails to mention that the biggest persecutors of Jews throughout history and still today are Arab Muslims). It gives four other one-liner references to the Jews being blamed for the plagues and problems in the land. It does not talk about the Jews as making a significant impact on the culture at large."

"In a passage meant to explain jihad, they encountered this: 'Muslims should fulfill jihad with the heart, tongue, and hand. Muslims use the heart in their struggle to resist evil. The tongue may convince others to take up worthy causes, such as funding medical research. Hands may perform good works and correct wrongs,'" the new report said.

The ATC report noted a complicating factor is a ban in California, to whose standards most textbook publishers align their work, on "adverse reflection" on religion in school.

"Whatever 'adverse reflection' is, such a mandate may be conceptually at odds with historical and geopolitical actuality," the study said.

"None of this is accidental. Islamic organizations, willing to [provide] misinformation, are active in curriculum politics. These activists are eager to expunge any critical thought about Islam from textbook and all public discourse. They are succeeding, assisted by partisan scholars and associations… It is alarming that so many individuals with the power to shape the curriculum are willfully blind to or openly sympathetic to these efforts," the report said.

Regarding the TCI book, the report said its lessons contain "stilted language that seem scripted or borrowed from devotional, not historical, material." Also, the "Medieval to Early Modern Times" book features a two-page prayer to Allah "the Merciful."

Glossing over the actual physical conquering of some peoples, the "World History: Medieval and Early Modern Times" says people were converted to Islam because they were "attracted by Islam's message of equality and hope for salvation," the report said.

Another book teaches: "Q: How did the caliphs who expanded the Muslim Empire treat those they conquered? A: They treated them with tolerance."

"At a time when intolerance marks Islamic cultures worldwide and multiculturalism is a ruling idea in U.S. schools, these 'wonderland-of-tolerance' tropes constitute a major content distortion," the report said.

"When … Muslims groups attack Christian peoples, kill them, and take their lands, the process is referred to as 'building' an empire. Christian attempts to restore those lands are labeled as 'violent attacks' or 'massacres,'" the report said.

Ben Stein Provokes the Liberals' Wrath

The funniest part about his latest movie, "Expelled," is the hysterical way the liberals are trying to discourage people from seeing it

From "Ben Stein Provokes the Liberals' Wrath" by Phyllis Schlafly, posted 5/7/08 at ChristianWorldviewNetwork.com

Ben Stein is known to many as an actor on Comedy Central. But the funniest part about his latest movie called "Expelled" is not any clever lines spoken by Stein but the hysterical way the liberals are trying to discourage people from seeing it.

Stein's critics don't effectively refute anything in "Expelled"; they just use epithets to ridicule it and hope they can make it go away. However, it won't go away; even Scientific American, which labeled the movie "shameful," concedes that it cannot be ignored.

The movie is about how scientists who dare to criticize Darwinism or discuss the contrary theory called Intelligent Design (ID) are expelled, fired, denied tenure, blacklisted, and bitterly denounced. Academic freedom doesn't extend to this issue.

The message of Stein's critics comes through loud and clear. They don't want anybody to challenge Darwinian orthodoxy or suggest that Intelligent Design might be an explanation of the origin of life.

Stein, who serves as his own narrator in the movie, is very deadpan about it all. He doesn't try to convince the audience that Darwinism is a fraud, or that God created the world, or even that some unidentified Intelligent Design might have started life on Earth.

Stein merely shows the intolerance of the universities, the government, the courts, the grant-making foundations and the media, and their determination to suppress any mention of Intelligent Design.

The only question posed by the movie is why, oh why, is there such a deliberate, consistent, widespread, vindictive effort to silence all criticism of dogmatic Darwinism or discussion of alternate theories of the origin of life? Stein interviews scientists who were blacklisted, denied grants, and ostracized in the academic community because they dared to write or speak the forbidden words.

Lesbians Riot to Shut Down Free Speech at Smith College

College president's statement labels speech 'reprehensible' for countering 'born gay' beliefs; president recommends students attend pro-homosexual movie

-- From MassResistance on-site report (complete with video of riot) posted 4/29/08

Dozens of lesbian activists at Smith College climbed in through windows and stormed the podium in a riot scene shortly after Ryan Sorba began a speech on his upcoming book, The Born Gay Hoax. The melee forced an end to the speech before a packed hall in the library on the Northampton campus. Uniformed police officers and a plainclothes security guard were in the room but mostly just stood and watched. Rather than take action against the rioters, the officers and a university official walked to the podium and ordered Sorba to leave the room “for his own safety.”

There were no arrests and no charges of disorderly conduct. This would seem to be a clear violation of the Massachusetts’ Civil Rights statutes.

Sorba had been invited to speak by the Smith Republican Club and the speech had been widely publicized. He has given the speech at colleges around the country, most recently at Framingham State College. The Smith Republicans had asked the police to be present in case any disruption took place during the event.

The disruption appeared to be planned in advance. The intent was clearly to stop the speech from taking place and to terrorize and intimidate the participants. Shortly after Sorba began speaking, members of the audience started chanting slogans and beating on pots and pans. Then about 15 minutes into the speech, people began to climb into the room through the windows, and a group stormed the podium and stood in front of it screaming and jumping up and down. Then dozens of people began running throughout the room began and screaming “We’re here, we’re queer, get used to it” and later “Hell no, we won’t go.” It quickly became impossible for the speech to continue.

. . . After Sorba left the room, the rioters talked about this action being “queer activism”. And so it is. This is exactly how the homosexual movement views free speech and civil rights in their march to and force their social and sexual agenda on others and intimidate and terrorize anyone who would criticize or disagree. Truth and freedom become subjected to the whims of thought police and rioters.

IL Pastor Exhorts High School to Protect Students

Pastor Steven Farish sent this letter to Libertyville High School in Illinois regarding the recent Day of Silence (April 25, 2008.)
I am a 15-year Libertyville resident with a student at Libertyville High School. I am writing to express my concern about the support District 128 is lending to the "Day of Silence" tomorrow. I understand that the district has no choice legally but to recognize a right for students and faculty to publicize and observe (during non-class hours) this day in support of homosexual rights. However, one of my daughter's teachers has indicated she will not be speaking at all during class tomorrow and will simply give the class a written assignment to complete. Even the American Civil Liberties Union, in a advisory communique to its followers, has recognized that faculty and students do not have a constitutional right to remain silent during class periods.

However, my far greater concern has to do with welfare of young people. To put it crudely, human anatomy confirms that homosexual practices are unnatural. That is why such activity is attended with so much physical disease; homosexuals use body parts for purposes for which those parts were not designed. Much more serious than the physical danger in many cases, however, is the psychological damage that often comes with homosexual practices, which damage can include anger and self-loathing. For the district to encourage young people (even tacitly) in unnatural acts seems to me to be profoundly unwise and ultimately (though I know this is not your intent) uncaring. The massive study published by Jones and Yarhouse in 2007 indicates that significant numbers of men and women who practice a homosexual lifestyle, can, with appropriate help from caring people, be brought out of that lifestyle or at least learn to live in peaceful celibacy.

Thank you for hearing me out on this issue. I appreciate any changes you might make in the district's approach to "Day of Silence."

Pastor Stephen E. Farish

Stephen Farish is the senior pastor at
Crossroads Church in Grayslake, IL.

Please pray that God will strengthen, protect, and equip this pastor. Pray also that God will raise up others like him - men who will recognize the fact that there is a great spiritual battle taking place for the minds, hearts and souls of our children in our public schools, and be willing to engage in that battle.

Ohio Teacher Ordered to Remove Bible From Classroom

He is standing firm. Please pray for teacher John Freshwater...

From "Ohio Teacher Refuses to Remove Bible From Classroom" by Alexander Sheffrin, posted 4/18/08 at the Christian Post.com

An Ohio school teacher of over 20 years has come under attack recently by school administrators because of a Bible that he has kept on his desk for his entire career.

Earlier this week, instructor John Freshwater was notified by the school’s principal that he would have to remove both a tapestry of the 10 Commandments and his Bible from the classroom in line with what the principal said was the establishment of religion clause which bars religion from the classroom.

Although Freshwater agreed to remove the 10 Commandments, he stood firm on keeping his Bible which he said governed his entire set of values and beliefs – values and beliefs that were protected by the constitution, he said.

“The removal of it (the Bible) will be nothing short of the infringement on my deeply held religious beliefs,” he said in a statement, according to the conservative Focus on the Family’s Citizenlink, which monitors attacks on Christianity.

“Discrimination against religions and religious views is un-American. In a land where we treasure free speech rights, no force or forces have the right to expel from the public forum those who have views with which they disagree. It is what has made America free,” he explained.

School officials representing the school district, however, issued a statement of their own.

District officials don't oppose religion but are required "under the First Amendment of the United States Constitution to protect against the establishment of religion in the schools. (This is nonsense. The First Amendment says CONGRESS shall make no law regarding the establishment of religion. Having a Bible on your desk can hardly be construed as the establishment of religion. The First Amendment says absolutely nothing about schools at all, it pertains to keeping CONGRESS out of religion...)

As a public school system the district cannot teach, promote or favor any religion or religious beliefs,” they wrote in their statement, according to The Columbus Dispatch. (Public schools DO promote a religion and religious belief system in the classroom. It's called secular humanism and to deny that is either dishonest or naive.)

Supporters and longtime associates of Freshwater, however, argued that throughout his entire career he had never once tried to preach or teach from the Bible while in the classroom.

And most recently, in an act of solidarity with the well liked science teacher – and defiance towards school administrators – students throughout the school have announced the beginning of what they called “take-your-Bible-to-school day."

It is, in fact, not possible for public schools not to promote religious belief. Religious belief is what we believe about God. The God of the Bible either exists or He doesn't. Public schools now operate on the assumption that He does not exist - or He is irrelevant. If He does exist, they have unwittingly eliminated the truth. This is not neutrality.

A belief system is indeed being promoted by our public schools. The question is WHOSE belief system? The answer is, the belief system of liberal educators. It is called Secular Humanism.

Please note the irony that today is also the Day of Silence, where kids and even teachers, in thousands of schools around the country, will be allowed to use the classroom to promote acceptance of pro-homosexual beliefs. I find it absolutely astonishing that teachers are allowed to actually promote homosexuality but not even hint at Christianity. The walls and halls of some of our public schools are plastered with the Rainbow Triangle Gay Pride logo yet teachers get in trouble for even having a Bible on their desk...

When did we become so foolish?
