FBI Director Says Satan Leads Islamic Terrorists

Breaking from the White House desperate avoidance of linking evil and/or Islam to worldwide jihadist terrorism, this week, FBI Director James Comey, while detailing the infiltration of Islamists into America, described the true nature of the battle.

“But what we see [the enemy] doing is trying in a way to test people’s bona fides by urging them to kill.  Sometimes supplying with them hit lists, sometimes suggesting particular targets, but other times just ‘kill in our name.’ If you can’t travel, kill where you are. It’s almost if there is a devil sitting on the shoulder saying, ‘Kill,’ ‘Kill,’ ‘Kill,’ ‘Kill,’ all day long.”

FBI Director James B. Comey said Thursday his agents learned hours before the start of a cartoon contest and exhibit depicting the prophet Muhammad that one of the gunmen had expressed interest in going to the controversial event in Texas, but there was no indication he was planning an attack.

[Elton] Simpson and his roommate, Nadir Soofi, 34, who lived in Phoenix, were killed by a local traffic officer as they opened fire at a conference center in Garland, Tex., where the competition was taking place.

Comey said the Islamic State’s effort to recruit and motivate people in the United States to try to do harm was paying dividends.

“There’s a lot of different threats that are out there, from ISIS to homegrown violent extremists,” [U.S. Northern Command] spokesman John Cornelio said. “By providing this increase in security measures, we increase the safety and security of our service members.”

Comey said the Islamic State presented a particular danger because it is proficient at using social media to deliver propaganda. The group has thousands of English-speaking followers online, he said, including many in the United States.

Comey said the group’s reach through social media is like a siren song for would-be supporters.

Soon after the Texas attack, a post appeared on an anonymous text-sharing site claiming that the Islamic State has 71 people in 15 states ready to carry out missions. Maryland was one of five states named.

Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, said federal authorities are aware of "thousands" of potential extremists living in the U.S., only a small portion of whom are under active surveillance.

The Texas shooting is part of what authorities have long considered an alarming trend involving would-be recruits for whom technology makes it easier to be exposed to ISIS propaganda. Beyond the communications that occur in the open, ISIS increasingly makes contact with followers and steers them into forums that allow for encrypted communications that can be harder for law enforcement officials to access.

The terror group has been encouraging its followers to travel to Syria to join the self-created caliphate there, but if they can't do that, to "kill where you are," FBI Director James Comey said.

"The siren song sits in the pockets, on the mobile phones, of the people who are followers on Twitter," Comey said. "It's almost as if there's a devil sitting on the shoulder, saying 'Kill! Kill! Kill! Kill!' all day long."

[Recent] news was all about the murder by fanatics of 150 children and teachers in a Pakistan school. As this is being written, the world is stunned by the action of a German pilot who deliberately flew his airliner into an Alpine mountainside, killing 149 others along with himself.

Human agency obviously was operative in these events, as in other recent horrors, but it’s easy to glimpse a devilish hand in them, too — and also in the multitude of less ostentatious but hardly less destructive acts of cruelty, dishonesty and lust that darken everyday life.

The standard response to this kind of thinking is to laugh it off. The devil has become a joke. . . . Getting people not to believe in him is one of the devil’s favorite tricks. . . .

But there’s too much evidence of his existence for disbelief to be a viable option. . . .

There are two extremes to be avoided in this matter: fearful obsession with the devil and ignoring the fact that we live on a battlefield with Satan and his forces drawn up against us. The letter to the Ephesians puts it best: “We are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness” (Eph 6:12).

This is exactly the intentions of Satan[:] to discourage anyone from acknowledging him as the personification of evil. And that tactic has been so successful that you SELDOM hear any mention of this from behind church pulpits. Why? Most pastors today will avoid the subject and even eliminate this important teaching in the Bible, not wanting to appear fanatic. They want to show that their churches are relevant for today and are up with the times. That is called, progressivism.

As a result, Satan has been unleashed with little or no restraints as havoc is caused throughout the world including the brutal rapes of little girls and little boys and senseless murders. Notice the increase of evil for the sake of evil. Not to settle a score or to punish for a bad debt, but simply to kill someone just for the sake of doing it. Or the new thing, to travel in twos and suddenly hit someone walking down the sidewalk, young or old, in a fad called, "The Knockout Game."

While Satan cannot directly kill someone, he can manipulate one's mind to kill himself through demonic depression and manipulating the minds of others to suddenly lash out at their own families. He can attack one through health, not actually causing the health problems, but attacking those areas which are the weakest parts of your body or attacking the weakest part of your minds such as temptations that you foolishly have let in. The purpose is to confuse one to wonder where God is or, is there really a God? That is a steak dinner for the enemy.

The deceptive enemy is very much alive and active in destruction. Don't let anyone convince you otherwise. But we all have power from on High to stop him in his tracks. Never give in, never give up, but press on! And move in closer to God.

But the planned event was overshadowed by the brutal beheading of Sotloff by ISIS fighters in Iraq, pushing the secretary to again publicly condemn the group.

“The face of Islam is not the nihilists who know only how to destroy, not to build,” Kerry went on. “It’s not masked cowards whose actions are an ugly insult to the peaceful religion that they violate every single day with their barbarity, and whose fundamental principles they insult with their actions.”

President Barack Obama has also felt it necessary to educate Americans on Islam’s peaceful nature. “The religion teaches peace, justice, fairness and tolerance,” he said in 2010. “All of us recognise that this great religion cannot justify violence.” And in July 2014 he declared that Islam shares “the values of peace” with other religions and cultures.

In a new video just surfacing showing a mob of hundreds of terrorists, al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) announced jihad against Jesus Christ and named America as their principle target.  President Obama has not responded to the Islamists' declaration of war, but his State Department has downplayed the significance of the video. Earlier, Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Michigan), chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, told Time Magazine that President Obama has gone too soft on al Qaida.

The 15-minute video, dated March 2014 and posted on a website used by Islamists, shows masked men waving al Qaeda's black flag and celebrating the arrival of the freed prisoners [after an armed jailbreak].

"The Crusader enemy, dear brothers, still possesses cards which he moves around. We have to remember that we are always fighting the biggest enemy," says a man speaking in the open in a mountainous area, whom the video identifies as its leader Nasser al-Wuhaishi.

Abdulrazzaq al-Jamal, a journalist who has interviewed members of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), said it was the largest known gathering of al Qaeda in Yemen.

"It included about 400 people, and these are not all the members of the group. This gathering is a confirmation that al Qaeda is gaining strength and influence," he told Reuters.

Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, also known as AQAP, is considered the most dangerous al Qaeda affiliate. The CIA and the Pentagon have repeatedly killed AQAP leaders with drone strikes. But the group is now emboldened.

A State Department spokeswoman declined to make “generalizations” about al Qaeda's strength based on a new video that surfaced Tuesday showing what appears to be the largest and most dangerous gathering of the terror group in years.

"I don't think we can make generalizations about their strength based on one video, quite frankly," she said. "We know they've been gaining in strength. We have been increasingly concerned, as I said, since 2009. That's why we've worked increasingly to counter the threat from AQAP in a variety of different ways."

She also said the video underscores some of the points the Obama administration has been making about al Qaeda in general. President Obama and other U.S. officials have altered their assertions about al Qaeda over the two years, changing references to al Qaeda being on the run, to the "core of al Qaeda" being on a "path to defeat."

Republican Mike Rogers, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee [said] . . . "It's difficult to get [drone] assets in position. You have to know where they are and where they meet at the right time in the right place with the right equipment. That's a lot to do [without intelligence information]"

Retired General Mark Kimmitt told 'CNN Tonight' that the terror groups could pose a direct threat to the US, and it was important to plan ahead.

"The question isn't why didn't we know," he said. "The question is: What are we going to do about it?"

We have other serious al-Qaeda threats that normally we would take off the battlefield, but because of this Administration’s more kinder, gentler approach we have not done that.

. . . I can tell you that there are ways that we have taken people off the battlefield that have been disruptive to their ability to plan operations, and there are cases where we are no longer doing that.

The old slogan is that Osama bin Laden is dead and General Motors is alive, and that al-Qaeda core is going away. Which is inconsistent with the facts that we know. And it concerns me that it is translated into policy. If you tell everybody that works for you that al-Qaeda’s not that big a threat, well, guess what? Their decisions will reflect that.

The Obama administration’s reluctance to acknowledge and confront the religious motivation behind Islamist terrorism is not helping the counter-terror effort, leading experts warn in a new report.

The Obama administration's recent move to drop rhetorical references to Islamic radicalism is drawing fire in a new report warning the decision ignores the role religion can play in motivating terrorists.

Several prominent counterterror experts are challenging the administration's shift in its recently unveiled National Security Strategy [NSS], saying the terror threat should be defined in order to fight it.

The question of how to frame the conflict against al-Qaida and other terrorists poses a knotty problem. The U.S. is trying to mend fences with Muslim communities while toughening its strikes against militant groups.

In the report, scheduled to be released this week, counterterrorism experts from the Washington Institute for Near East Policy argue that the U.S. could clearly articulate the threat from radical Islamic extremists "without denigrating the Islamic religion in any way."

President Barack Obama has argued that words matter, and administration officials have said that the use of inflammatory descriptions linking Islam to the terror threat feed the enemy's propaganda and may alienate moderate Muslims in the U.S.

In the report, which was obtained by The Associated Press, the analysts warn that U.S. diplomacy must sharpen the distinction between the Muslim faith and violent Islamist extremism, identify radicalizers within Islamic communities and empower voices that can contest the radical teachings.

[Washington Institute for Near East Policy report authors] J. Scott Carpenter, Matthew Levitt, Steven Simon and Juan Zarate contend that just because ideology is not the only driving force behind violent Islamic terrorism does not mean it can be ignored.

Instead, the administration should recognize Islamism as “the key ideological driver” behind the threat posed by al-Qaeda and other radical Islamist groups, and prioritize an effort to combat the ideology, they say.

“To be sure, officials need to make very clear that they do not consider Islam itself a danger, only the distorted version of Islam perpetrated by radical extremists. But they – and, in particular, the president – must also come to terms with the fact that individuals implicated in each of the recently exposed plots in the United States were imbued with a common radical ethos.”

The NSS unveiled in May used variations of the phrase “al-Qaeda and its affiliates” repeatedly in identifying the enemy. The word “Islam” appeared twice – the U.S. was not fighting a war against Islam, it said, and “neither Islam nor any other religion condones the slaughter of innocents.”

(The NSS released by the Bush administration in 2006 stated that “the struggle against militant Islamic radicalism is the great ideological conflict of the early years of the 21st century.” It also called Islam “a proud religion” that “has been twisted and made to serve an evil end.”)

The authors recommend that the administration broaden cooperation with foreign governments, NGOs and others “to empower credible Muslim voices to marginalize” Islamist radicals.

At home and abroad, the government should more effectively identify and support Muslim opinion-leaders who can provide alternative influences to “radicalizers” in their communities.

“Some prominent Muslim American groups have questionable links to banned groups that should disqualify them as trusted government partners in the effort to combat extremism,” the report says. “Others, perhaps less vocal and often active at a more local level, warrant greater institutional recognition and support.”

In Economic Crisis, Al-Qaida Claims Victory

Al-Qaida's No. 2 leader appeared in a new video posted Friday calling on Americans to embrace Islam to overcome the financial meltdown, which he said was a consequence of the Sept. 11 attacks and militant strikes in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Appearing in a white turban and robe, [Ayman al-Zawahri] discussed the roots of the U.S. economic crisis. He said it was a repercussion of the Sept. 11 attacks in the United States, and that the crisis would continue "as long as the foolish American policy of wading in Muslim blood continues."

"The American economy was afflicted by a downturn and loss of investor confidence in the market following the events of Sept. 11," he said.

"The modern economy has been destroyed by the strikes of the mujahedeen (in Iraq and Afghanistan) and usury," he said, using the Arabic term for holy warriors.

Under Islamic Sharia law, usury, like drinking alcohol, is among the grand sins.

Zawahri then called on the American people to "embrace Islam to live a life free of greed, exploitation and forbidden wealth."
