-- From "Texas abortion battle heats up as activists ‘Hail Satan!’" by Cheryl K. Chumley, The Washington Times 7/3/13
Gov. Rick Perry has called for a second special session to pass an abortion law that would prohibit the procedure past the 20th week of pregnancy.
Pro-choice protesters shouted, “Hail Satan!” as an attempt to drown out pro-lifers’ rendition of “Amazing Grace.”

From "Texas governor says 'no mob rule' in Legislature on abortion" by Miguel Marquez and Ed Payne, CNN 7/2/13
State Sen. Wendy Davis, a Democrat who led last week's dramatic political charge and became a newly minted heroine of abortion rights in the process . . . talked for more than 10 hours last Tuesday in helping to run out out the clock on the legislation that would be one of the most restrictive anti-abortion laws in the country, if approved.
The last ditch attempt by Senate Republicans to pass it before a midnight deadline was thwarted by spectators in the Captiol chanting "shame! shame! shame!"
The shouting, which Perry described as "unprecedented anarchy" marked an unprecedented moment in the Capitol, but the governor insisted it won't derail the bill.
But Davis told CNN that she and Democratic allies had "a few tricks up their sleeves." She declined to offer details . . .

From "Pro-Abortion Activists Tied to Planned Parenthood Being Paid to Protest" by Katie Pavlich, Townhall.com 7/1/13
Craigslist in Austin currently has an advertisement up for wanted full-time activists. The advertisement was posted on June 29, 2013, just two days before the second special Texas Legislature session started. [The ad read, in part, "Protect Women's Rights in 2013! $1300-$2200/Month"]
I called the number listed on the advertisement to get more information and was told this campaign is directly working with Planned Parenthood to bolster their efforts.

From "Republicans move abortion bill forward" by David Saleh Rauf, San Antonio Express-News 7/4/13
A sweeping package of abortion restrictions was approved by a House panel early Wednesday, capping an hours-long hearing of emotional testimony.
The Republican-led panel was poised to eventually move forward with the abortion restrictions, which would ban the procedure at 20 weeks and would require costly upgrades to Texas abortion clinics that activists say would cause the closure of all but five in the state.
Outside the Capitol in a courtyard close to the hearing room, activists from both sides of the issue roared late into the night, chanting and singing.
At one point, a small group of pro-abortion-rights supporters in the background reportedly started chanting, “Hail Satan,” to drown out speeches emanating from a circle of anti-abortion activists.

From "Abortion Supporters Chant 'Hail Satan' in Texas Capitol as Pro-Lifers Sing 'Amazing Grace'" by Leonardo Blair, Christian Post Reporter 7/3/13
On Tuesday, the pro-abortion supporters went from riotous to sacrilegious when they chanted "Hail Satan" repeatedly in a bid to silence Christian pro-lifers who were singing "Amazing Grace" in support of abortion restrictions in the state.
. . . The legislation would also require that abortions be performed at ambulatory surgical centers and mandate that doctors obtain admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles of their practice. Opponents of the proposal argue that the proposal would virtually shut down abortion clinics in that state and pro-life supporters have no problem with that.
"The world has seen images of pro-abortion activists screaming, cheering," Republican Gov. Rick Perry noted, in an earlier report in which he vowed that the process would not be derailed a second time. "Going forward, we have to match their intensity, but do it with grace and civility."
