In an unpublicized appearance March 2, 2007 speaking for The Human Rights Campaign (one of the nation's most powerful gay advocacy organizations), presidential candidate Hillary Clinton spoke of her role in defeating the Federal Marriage Amendment and promised to work hard to:
- Expand federal hate crimes legislation
- Pass ENDA (Employment Non-discrimination Act)
- Pass Domestic Partners Benefits and Obligations Act (which would provide benefits for the 'partners' of homosexuals and unmarried heterosexual federal employees
- Gay Adoption -- Pass legislation making it illegal for adoption agencies to prefer to place children in homes with a married mother and father
