D.C. Principal Says He's Gay - Media Ecstatic

Principal Pete Cahall led Wilson High School in its annual "Gay Pride Day" in the nation's capital where he surprised the students by announcing that he is a proud homosexual, while Mayor Gray told the students that those who oppose the Gay Agenda "can go straight to Hell!" Cahall told reporters that his goal is to encourage more students to engage in deviant sexual behavior.
“In my best biblical reference, my words to the people [who disagree] is they can go straight to Hell, because that is not the behavior that we tolerate here in District of Columbia.”
-- Vincent C. Gray, Mayor, Washington D.C.

“[Mr. Cahall is] a role model for everyone. He’s always been there for us, and he’s always been supportive. But saying he’s gay might make a lot of other people feel comfortable [coming out].”
-- Aidan Parisi, 17-year-old senior
According to a survey released yesterday by city government, so far the number of high school students in the District claiming to be homosexual has risen to 15%, a staggering figure compared to census data nationwide.

This is the first time Cahall, who has been the principal at Wilson for six years, has come out publicly. D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray was informed of his decision just moments before.

The school held its second annual Pride Day event Wednesday, bringing together over 20 organizations that support the needs of LGBTQ youth.

“I want to say publicly for the first time, because of your leadership, care and support, that I am a proud gay man who just happens to be the principal of Wilson High School,” said Pete Cahall, flanked by Mayor Vincent C. Gray (D) and David A. Catania (I), the D.C. Council’s first openly gay member.

Students in the school’s packed atrium greeted Cahall’s announcement with a loud, long cheer.

For generations, homosexuality was a fireable offense in schools, and gay educators took pains to hide their private lives. But now many gay teachers and school administrators are open about who they are.
