Gays, Unions March Against Catholic School Morals

As President Obama leads America into the national sexual deviancy month of June, the Archdiocese of Cincinnati is under fire from the PC police, the mainstream media, homosexualists of all stripes, and its own Catholic school teachers who plan to unionize rather than sign contractual morality clauses that challenge their self-proclaimed rights to behave immorally and defy God Almighty.

Umm . . . unions may have political power, but . . .

-- From "White House declares June LGBT Pride Month" by Anna Brand, MSNBC 6/2/14

LGBT rights just got another big push from the president himself.

The White House on Friday issued a proclamation by President Barack Obama calling on Americans to eliminate prejudice “everywhere it exists,” declaring June as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month.

“As progress spreads from State to State, as justice is delivered in the courtroom [in defiance of voters], and as more of our fellow Americans are treated with dignity and respect – our Nation becomes not only more accepting, but more equal as well,” the proclamation begins.

Obama writes that although the gay rights movement saw a massive victory this month last year with Supreme Court’s decision to strike down a key provision of the Defense of Marriage Act, giving gay couples married in states where it’s legal the same federal benefits that straight couples receive, full equality is not yet here.

From "Cincinnati Catholic school teachers resign over anti-gay morality clause" by Matt Bradwell, UPI 6/2/14

Catholic school teachers in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati are resigning rather than sign a new contract that includes a morality clause banning public support of the LGBT community. Additionally, teachers cannot publicly support sex outside of marriage nor the use of in-vitro fertilization.

"This is a deep human issue and to dismiss it ... by calling (homosexuality) a lifestyle seems to be a huge misunderstanding on the cognitive level ... It's a dismissal of other human beings," [Catholic high school teacher Robert] Hague wrote in an open letter to Cincinnati Catholic Schools Superintendent Jim Rigg.

Roger Rosen teaches French and Latin at the same Catholic school where he was valedictorian almost five decades prior. He said he signed the new contract because he felt he had no choice, going as far as to call himself a "coward" for doing so.

Some Catholic school teachers in southwest Ohio have formed a union. For Ohio Public Radio, WNKU’s Cheri Lawson reports that they’ve organized in response to a new restrictive employment contract adopted by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and similar to one imposed in Cleveland.

The controversial agreement has drawn national attention because of a morality clause that spells out actions that could cause teachers to lose their jobs. Among them are showing public support for abortion, sex outside of marriage and same-sex unions.

From "Gay pride event has focus on Catholic teacher contract" by Michael D. Clark, The Cincinnati Enquirer 5/31/14

Officials from the national Human Rights Campaign amped up the national controversy this week. The Washington, D.C.-based gay rights organization put another spotlight on Cincinnati – and other dioceses around the country – by sending a letter to the Vatican on behalf of nine teachers who quit their jobs by refusing to sign the new contract.

HRC officials said "the Archdiocese of Cincinnati took anti-LGBT to a new level, calling not only for the firing of gay and lesbian school employees, but also citing support of the 'homosexual lifestyle' as grounds for dismissal."

[Dan Andriacco, spokesman for the Cincinnati archdiocese,] said "99 percent" of the 2,800 teachers in archdiocesan schools have signed the new contract for the next school year.

Saturday's gay pride event will further heighten the conflict between the LGBT community and church officials, [critics say].

From "A litany of 'thou shalt nots': Catholic teachers challenge morality clause" by Susan Candiotti and Chris Welch, CNN 5/31/14

The revised morality clause goes beyond more general standard language requiring teachers -- Catholic or not -- to adhere to Catholic doctrine.

First, the 2014-15 contract adds the title "ministers" to all teachers -- from geography to gym class -- a move seen as a legal maneuver to try to protect the archdiocese from discrimination lawsuits. It stems from a 2012 U.S. Supreme Court decision in the case of Hosanna-Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church and School v. EEOC, in which the justices cite a "ministerial exemption" that gives religious institutions greater latitude when hiring and firing employees.

Teachers must sign a promise not to engage in or publicly support several areas of conduct including unmarried cohabitation or sex, using a surrogate mother or in-vitro fertilization, a homosexual lifestyle, and improper use of social media.

Catholic schools in Cleveland, as well as in Oakland, California, and Honolulu, Hawaii, are working on integrating the clause in their teacher contracts.

From "Ohio Catholic School Contracts Controversy Dismissed as Overblown" by Carl Bunderson, CNA/EWTN NEWS, posted at National Catholic Register 5/29/14

The new guidelines specify that the educator must agree “to exemplify Catholic principles and to refrain from any conduct or lifestyle which would reflect discredit on or cause scandal to the School or be in contradiction to Catholic doctrine or morals.”

[Dan Andriacco, communications director for the Cincinnati archdiocese, said] “We do consider all of our teachers, including those who are not Catholic, to be ministers of the Church, because our schools are a ministry — that’s the reason we open up the doors in the morning. It’s not just to provide a great education, great discipline, although we do that: it’s to spread the Gospel.”

The wording is important, Andriacco said, for its concern with public — not private — acts, and its extension beyond the bounds of the classroom: “a teachers’ function as a role model doesn’t end at the classroom door. . . . I understand the complaint when people say it’s a bunch of ‘thou shalt nots’ — but it has to be. You can’t list the fullness of everything we’re supposed to do; as Catholics, we should all be very charitable – how are you going to write a contract requirement that people be charitable?”

“But, there is some generalized wording,” he added, that the examples are “not the sum of what we expect of our Catholic teachers; we expect a lot more than that. This is not supposed to be a catalogue of everything we expect from them.”

“If we had a problem with teachers posting racial slurs on their Facebook page or blog, that that would probably be part of the contract; I really suspect that if we did not fire, or publicly discipline a teacher who posted racial slurs on their website, that we would get an even bigger pushback than we’re getting now.”

The specified wording and examples in the contract are necessary, Andriacco explained, because the archdiocese has found itself in “situations where people seem to not know what the contract obligates them to.”

UPDATE 12/27/14: From "Diocese to Lose $2 Million in Teacher’s IVF Lawsuit" by Peter Jesserer Smith, National Catholic Register

A federal grand jury decided the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend, Ind., will have to pay out nearly $2 million to a teacher it fired for violating the morals clause of her contract by using artificial means to get pregnant [—a violation the Civil Rights Act].

A diocesan statement emailed to the Register stated the Fort Wayne-South Bend Diocese is “disappointed with the outcome of the trial and is considering an appeal to the U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Herx, a married Catholic woman, had been a junior-high language-arts teacher at St. Vincent de Paul School in Fort Wayne since 2003. She told diocesan officials that she was conceiving a child through in vitro fertilization (IVF) and was let go after rejecting the diocese’s attempts to reconcile her with Church teaching.

The case is complicated by the fact that Herx was fired after her second round of IVF treatments. According to court documents, Herx informed the school’s principal, Sandra Guffey, in March 2010, during the first round of treatment — part of which was paid for by the diocese’s health plan — and her contract was renewed. Guffey registered no objections at the time, explaining during the trial that she had been unaware of the Church’s teaching on IVF and only learned about it when reading a magazine a year later.

UPDATE 1/14/15: From "Judge cuts jury award for ex-teacher’s in vitro firing" by The Associated Press

Monday’s decision by U.S. District Judge Robert L. Miller Jr. dropped Emily Herx’s $1.9 million judgment in her civil rights lawsuit to just under $544,000.

After a four-day trial in December, a jury awarded her $1.75 million for compensatory damages for pain and suffering, $125,000 for medical care, $75,000 for lost wages and benefits, and $1 for punitive damages, The Journal Gazette reported.

In Monday’s ruling, Miller Jr. . . . reduced the compensatory damage award to $299,999 and left the punitive damage award at $1, to bring that total to $300,000.

Miller also increased the award for lost wages and benefits to $118,803, and included $22,853 in post-termination out-of-pocket health care costs, court documents indicate.

'Dating Website' aka Prostitution: Pay for College

Brandon Wade, a modern-day "pimp," has created a website to enable a "mutually beneficial relationship" between wealthy men and college girls in need of funds to pay tuition and expenses. The internet entrepreneur says that the website is simply a means for people to meet -- what the consensual parties choose to exchange is their own affair.
"If it's helping people pay for school these days with crazy tuition costs ... whatever."

UPDATE 2/4/13 - Chicago CBS WBBM-TV2 Interview with Sugar Baby (video):

-- From "Coeds turning to 'sugar daddies' to pay tuition" by Paul Bedard, The Washington Examiner 1/14/13

The ever-soaring price of college tuition, coupled with a similar jump in student loan debt, has a record number of female coeds turning to "sugar daddies" to help pay for their education and lifestyle, according to a website that links "sugar babies" with "sugar daddies."

The site, SeekingArrangement.com, said that the number of women joining the sight jumped 58 percent last year. . . . "the average college sugar baby receives approximately $3,000 per month to cover the cost of tuition, books and living expenses."

The site claims two million members. In 2011, college students comprised 40% of the members. But after the 58 percent jump last year, they now total 44 percent.

From "Keeping Up With Being Kept" by Ruth Padawer, New York Times 4/10/09

. . . They’re not searching for longtime soul mates; they want no-strings-attached “arrangements” that trade in society’s most valued currencies: wealth, youth and beauty. In the cheesy lexicon of the site, they are “sugar daddies” and “sugar babies.”

There’s the 18-year-old from France asking for $5,000 to $10,000 a month from “a mentor who can provide me with the finer things in life and keep me happy!” And the 49-year-old investor from upstate New York willing to pay $5,000 a month for a “daytime playmate” for “intense connection without commitment.” Critics say the site is at best a convenience store for adulterers and at worst a virtual brothel . . .

This abundance of possibility is part of what the site is selling, along with fantasy. Some of these men — especially those shopping for women half their age — are digging deep into their pockets to pay for an illusion: that despite their receding hairlines and wattled skin, they’re still enchanting enough to charm pretty young women. One image on the site features a dazed, graying man doted on by two barely clad attendants — a caricature of an already caricatured relationship. But this marketing spin doesn’t capture the nuances of the relationships that often develop between the “daddies” and the “babies” who meet on the site — relationships that can turn out to be more complicated than even the members themselves expect. Men may use money as a way to buy themselves out of the normal obligations of romance, like accommodating a woman’s emotional needs as much as their own. But despite the power and security that the money buys, it can also undercut the very ego it’s intended to boost.

From "Seeking Arrangement: College Students Using 'Sugar Daddies' To Pay Off Loan Debt" by Amanda M. Fairbanks, Huffington Post 7/31/11

Saddled with piles of student debt and a job-scarce, lackluster economy, current college students and recent graduates are selling themselves to pursue a diploma or pay down their loans. An increasing number, according to the owners of websites that broker such hook-ups, have taken to the web in search of online suitors or wealthy benefactors who, in exchange for sex, companionship, or both, might help with the bills.

Enter the sugar daddy, sugar baby phenomenon. This particular dynamic preceded the economic meltdown, of course. Rich guys well past their prime have been plunking down money for thousands of years in search of a tryst or something more with women half their age -- and women, willingly or not, have made themselves available. With the whole process going digital, women passing through a system of higher education that fosters indebtedness are using the anonymity of the web to sell their wares and pay down their college loans.

[Website owner Brandon] Wade rewards students who use a .edu email address to register on Seeking Arrangement by automatically upgrading their free, basic membership to a premium membership, allowing them to send unlimited free messages and granting them exclusive access to the site's cadre of VIP sugar daddies. The site also includes a complimentary stamp on student profiles, certifying them as a "college sugar baby."

Democrat Senate Legalizes Bestiality in Military

As part of the repeal of the military "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy regarding homosexual behavior, the Senate has passed a defense appropriation bill (S. 1867) that eliminates the prohibition of sodomy of all kinds, including bestiality.

UPDATE 12/4/11: No Senators Spoke Out as the Senate Voted for Bestiality

-- From "Senate Poised to Legalize Sodomy and Bestiality in U.S. Military" by Pete Winn, CNSNews.com 12/1/11

On Nov. 15, the Senate Armed Services Committee unanimously approved S. 1867, the National Defense Authorization Act, which includes a provision to repeal Article 125 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ).

Article 125 of the UCMJ makes it illegal to engage in both sodomy with humans and sex with animals.

It states: "(a) Any person subject to this chapter who engages in unnatural carnal copulation with another person of the same or opposite sex or with an animal is guilty of sodomy. Penetration, however slight, is sufficient to complete the offense. (b) Any person found guilty of sodomy shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.”

“It’s all about using the military to advance this administration’s radical social agenda,” [Family Research Council President Tony] Perkins told CNSNews.com. “Not only did they overturn Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, but they had another problem, and that is, under military law sodomy is illegal, just as adultery is illegal, so they had to remove that prohibition against sodomy.”

From "First Gays, Now Democrats Trying to Legalize Bestiality in Military?" by FRC posted at Opposing Views 11/30/11

The dust is finally starting to clear over the rubble of the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" repeal, and our military is beginning to see what's on the horizon: a campaign to radicalize the country from the Pentagon out. It started by toppling the barrier to open homosexuality. And it continues with an assault on marriage and religious freedom.

. . . Unlike civilian entities, the military operates under stringent moral guidelines so that it can perform its job efficiently. In fact, most people don't realize that the military still outlaws adultery. These are the kinds of distractions that our troops try to eliminate--not because it's socially responsible (although that is a good reason), but because it's physically and emotionally responsible.

This is the slippery slope that FRC warned of. For three long years, President Obama has worked to draft the military into his radical social agenda. Obviously, the administration understands that once it breaks down the values and inhibitions of our Defense Department, society will be easier to wear down.

Moral Christians 'Backward' Says MSNBC Chris Matthews

Vatican "Calls Shots" Worldwide on HIV/AIDS Care

The Pope has again demonstrated that the Roman Catholic Church is not prone to defy God Almighty in favor of advocates for sexual deviancy and infidelity, who find themselves "at the mercy" of the Church which cares for their victims.

For background, read Media Blows It, re: Pope on Condoms

-- From "UNAIDS to Vatican: Pope's HIV-condom view helpful" by Nicole Winfield, Associated Press 5/30/11

The Church does . . . play a crucial role in caring for HIV-positive people, particularly in Africa where some two-thirds of the world's 22 million infected people live. It runs hospitals and hospices, orphanages and clinics and has played a critical role in helping to de-stigmatize those with the virus and stress the need for changes in sexual behavior to stop its spread.

The Vatican's emphasis on the need for changes in sexual activity has been boosted by studies showing that at least in Africa, prevention programs focusing on condom promotion aren't working and that what works is male circumcision and reducing the number of sexual partners.

Yet Dr. Edward Green, former director of the AIDS research project at Harvard University, said there is little financial support for programs that advocate partner reduction, particularly among Western donors who uniformly insist on condom distribution as part of prevention efforts.

Green says he belongs to no particular church and bases his findings on empirical evidence, not morality.

Instead, Vatican officials hailed recent findings that AIDS medications can be highly effective in preventing transmission and called for a change in "amoral sexual attitudes" that contribute to the spread of HIV.

Sexual Disease Medicare Coverage Considered

Maybe it’s longer lives; maybe it’s Viagra. Either way, STDs are soaring among seniors—and climbing faster among older adults than within the population as a whole.

. . . or, maybe it's the general rise in sexual immorality?

-- From "STDs Soar Among Seniors" by Matt Cantor, Newser Staff 4/19/11

Reportings of syphilis and chlamydia among those 55 and older jumped 43% between 2005 and 2009, the Orlando Sentinel finds in a study of CDC data. Syphilis climbed faster than the national average among those 55 to 64: Older adults saw a 70% rise in reported cases, 10 percentage points higher than the average for all age groups.

From "Seniors' sex lives are up — and so are STD cases" by Marni Jameson, Orlando Sentinel 4/18/11

As a result of the national trend among seniors, Medicare is considering providing coverage for STD screenings for seniors. Last month, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid office announced that it was looking into adding STD exams to the national health-insurance program, which already pays for HIV screenings. Medicare also is weighing the benefits of paying for behavioral counseling for sexually active seniors.

The factors driving the rise of STDs in the older set include Americans living longer, healthier lives and a new class of medications, which include Viagra, making more sex possible. Many older adults didn't get the safe-sex messages that younger generations received, say experts, so their condom use is lower. In addition, more seniors are living in group retirement communities where there's more socializing.

Besides Viagra, other medications such as hormone replacements are helping seniors remain sexually active longer. Progesterone and estrogen creams help make sex more comfortable for women, while testosterone-replacement drugs boost libido in men and women.

Finally, a more open sexual attitude has contributed to the rising infection rate.

'Good Sex' Exposed to Kids on Church Billboards

Midwestern churches in conservative cities are challenging both tradition and Hollywood by emphasizing God's design for sex within marriage, but many Christians prefer the churches keep their sex private.

"We're doing a series about sex, and God's intended purpose for it," Mooneyham. "We're hitting things like adultery and pornography."

Mooneyham indicated that in a poll on the church's website, 86 percent of the respondents said they were not having enough sex in their marriage.

"This is really one of the major issues that's ripping marriages apart. They are at a higher risk of adultery, looking at pornography -- that leads to divorce," Mooneyham said.

However, many motorists are offended by the advertisement, saying it's bad exposure for kids.

But Pastor Dehner Maurer, whose church is responsible for the signs, disagrees.

Facebook is Satan's Temptation Tool: Pastor

Rev. Cedric Miller, pastor of Living Word Christian Fellowship in Neptune, N.J., after counseling church members' adulterous Facebook activities, has mandated that all church staff stop using Facebook.

UPDATE 1/24/11: Pope says online social networks can help spread the Gospel

-- From "Pastor to his church: Thou shall not Facebook" Los Angeles Time 11/17/10

Miller told the AP that, over the last six months, 20 couples at his church have run into marital problems after a spouse reconnected with a former love interest on Facebook.

Because of the troubles, the pastor is forcing about 50 married church leaders to delete their Facebook accounts. If they won't give up Facebook, they'll have to resign from their leadership positions at Living Word, the AP reported.

In the past, Miller had asked married church members to share their log-in passwords with spouses, but that didn't seem to be a good enough solution.

"The advice will go to the entire church," Miller told the AP. "They'll hear what I'm asking of my church leadership. I won't mandate it for the entire congregation, but I hope people will follow my advice."

From "For Houses of Worship, the Two Faces of Facebook" by Lauren Green, FoxNews.com 11/19/10

Danielle Hartland, communications director of Grace Church in Erie, Pa., says Facebook itself is not the problem, because it's morally neutral. "The thing is, Facebook is neither evil or good; it just exists," she says. "What you do with it determines what it becomes."

But it's hard to demonize a technology that has become a major force for keeping the faithful connected to a church's core beliefs.

People are more inclined to spill their hearts over a pressing personal issue in the anonymity of an online chat, Hartland says. Eventually, she says, a pastor then will try to convince the person to come in for some face time.

She also says that singling out Facebook as the root of potential adulterous affairs is giving the site too much power. Facebook only exposes a deeper issue within marriages.

Viagra Users Prone to Disease: Study

Study shows older men using erectile dysfunction drugs far more likely to have sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV, due to sexual behavior

-- From "Study links erectile drugs, STD rates in users over 40" by Nicole Ostrow, Bloomberg News 7/6/10

Men age 40 or older who use Pfizer Inc.’s Viagra and Eli Lilly & Co.’s Cialis to boost sexual potency have higher rates of sexually transmitted diseases, a Harvard study found.

Men who took the impotence pills were almost three times more likely to have a sex disease, particularly HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, in the year before and after they started the drugs, according to research published today in the Annals of Internal Medicine. The higher rate of sexually spread infections could have more to do with the habits or temperament of the men using the erectile drugs than with the medicines enabling them to have more frequent or riskier sex, the authors said.

The findings suggest that users of drugs to treat erectile dysfunction, which also include Bayer AG’s Levitra, could be more likely to engage in unsafe sex than nonusers, said Anupam Jena, the lead author of the study. Although sexual diseases are far more common in young people, infection rates are increasing in those middle-aged and older, the researchers said.

From "Men on ED Drugs Get More STDs" by Katrina Woznicki, WebMD Health News; Reviewed by Louise Chang, MD 7/6/10

An analysis of insurance records of 1.4 million men shows that there may be a population at risk for contracting and spreading sexually transmitted diseases and that this group should be targeted for safe-sex counseling.

There is no cause-and-effect association between erectile dysfunction treatments and sexually transmitted diseases, but the findings do suggest that people who use such treatments could benefit from interventions that emphasize safe-sex practices that reduce risk of infection.

About 40% of men ages 57 to 85 have some erectile dysfunction, researchers cite. The blockbuster impotence drug Viagra, one of the most popular treatments for erectile dysfunction, was approved by the FDA in 1998. As early as 2002 it was estimated that up to 20% of U.S. men over 40 had tried a drug to treat erectile dysfunction. From 1998 to 2003, Viagra use increased from 4.3% to 6.3% among this study sample. Two other ED drugs, Cialis and Levitra, were approved in 2003.

Earlier research has found that people aged 50 and older are one-sixth less likely to use a condom and one-fifth less likely to be tested for HIV compared with people in their 20s.

Adultery a Crime in N.H. - Sodomy in 'Marriage' Legal

Although the centuries-old adultery law has not been enforced, the legislature has failed to repeal it, but recently succeeded in passing the same-sex 'marriage' bill.

-- From "Senate keeps 200-year-old adultery law on the books" by Garry Rayno, New Hampshire Union Leader Staff 4/29/10

The state's 200-year-old statute making adultery a crime remains after the Senate voted to kill a bill repealing the unenforced law.

The Senate also yesterday voted to give the secretary of state greater flexibility in setting the date for the New Hampshire Presidential primary in order to maintain its first-in-the-nation status.

Although the House already approved repealing the criminal adultery law, Sen. Bette Lasky, D-Nashua, said the civil statute is vague. "Repealing the statute is problematic without first changing the civil code," she said.

When the law was first passed, the penalty included standing on a gallows with a noose around the neck.

Legislators Want Freedom to Commit Adultery

Seven months after [New Hampshire] approved gay marriage, lawmakers will consider easing government further from the bedroom with a bill to repeal the adultery law.

-- From "Adultery still crime in NH after 200 years" by Norma Love, Associated Press 12/13/09

The original punishments — including standing on the gallows for an hour with a noose around the neck — have been softened to a $1,200 fine, yet some lawmakers think it's time for the 200-year-old crime of adultery to come off New Hampshire's books.

Horrigan, D-Durham, and state Rep. Carol McGuire, R-Epsom, have teamed up on legislation to repeal the law.

Law Professor Jeff Atkinson of DePaul University College of Law in Chicago says states rarely — if ever — enforce criminal adultery laws. Atkinson, author of the American Bar Association's Guide to Marriage, Divorce & Families, attributed that to a 2003 U.S. Supreme Court decision, Lawrence v. Texas. In its decision, the high court found that the state had no legitimate interest justifying its intrusion into the personal and private lives of two gay men arrested in their bedroom during a police investigation in a weapons case. The men had been charged with sodomy.

Atkinson said the case applies to adultery because both involve private sexual conduct.

Kevin Smith, executive director of the conservative Cornerstone Policy Research, [said,] "Even though this criminal law probably is not enforced right now and probably has not been enforced for some time, I think it's important to have a public policy statement that says generally or in all situations adultery is not a good thing. And I think, by repealing that statute, you're essentially diminishing the harmful effects of adultery."

Study: 40% of Men Get Free Pass for Adultery

Sexual revolutionaries hype gene research claiming men may be born to be, or not to be, monogamous -- just one more attack on marriage

-- From "Study Links Gene Variant in Men to Marital Discord" by Shankar Vedantam, Washington Post Staff Writer 9/2/08

Men are more likely to be devoted and loyal husbands when they lack a particular variant of a gene that influences brain activity, researchers announced yesterday -- the first time that science has shown a direct link between a man's genes and his aptitude for monogamy.

The finding is striking because it not only links the gene variant -- which is present in two of every five men -- with the risk of marital discord and divorce, but also appears to predict whether women involved with these men are likely to say their partners are emotionally close and available, or distant and disagreeable. The presence of the gene variant, or allele, also seems predictive of whether men get married or live with women without getting married.

The finding set off a debate about whether people should conduct genetic tests to find out whether potential mates are bad marriage prospects. Several independent scientists called the discovery remarkable and elegant but disagreed over whether such information ought to be used in making personal decisions about love and marriage.

. . . if a man's culture, religion and family background each have a seat at the conference table that determines his attitudes toward marital fidelity and monogamy, his genes might well sit at the head of the table.

San Francisco Expansion of "Sex-worker Industry" on Ballot

In November, voters can choose to decriminalize prostitution; sex workers union herald measure, demand police protection

-- From "San Fran's next step: Legalized prostitution?" © 2008 WorldNetDaily 7/19/08

Petitioners have succeeded in moving a measure that would effectively decriminalize prostitution in the city of San Francisco to the Nov. 4 ballot.

While prostitution is unlawful under the California Penal Code, the measure – if passed by voters – would ban the San Francisco Police Department from allocating any financial resources for the investigation and prosecution of sex workers on prostitution charges.

Section four of the ballot measure – under the heading "Prostitution Shall Be Decriminalized" – further states that the city, county, and district attorney "shall not subject sex-workers to life long economic discrimination associated with having a criminal record."

Proponents of the measure are claiming it is needed to give sex-industry workers equal protection under the law and to counter an alleged long-standing cronyism between dance club owners and key decision makers that has resulted in police cracking down on some prostitution outlets but looking the other way from popular nightclubs, even when the clubs were accused of sexual abuses by workers.

Maxine Doogan, founder of the Erotic Service Provider's Union, wrote in an email reported by the Chronicle, "Workers would like it if crimes like rape, robbery, theft and coercion were vigorously investigated and prosecuted. We want the right to make reports of crimes against us without being retaliated against by the police department."

Hypocrisy of Hating Homosexuality, While Ignoring Cohabitation and Adultery

From "Hypocrisy of Hating Homosexuality, While Ignoring Cohabitation and Adultery" by Phil Magnan, posted 5/2/07 at christiannewswire.com

BUDAPEST, Hungary, May 2 /Christian Newswire/ -- Statistics show that 25% of unmarried "born again" Christians are living together. This reveals an apparent hypocrisy in condemning homosexuality, while not condemning heterosexual immorality. Sad to say, co-habitation is on the increase and its participants also include the Catholic and Christian community.

BFA believes there is also a need to condemn not only adultery in its blatant form of cheating on a spouse, but its camouflaged form by easy divorce to pursue second and third marriages. This has been done by those who describe themselves either as Catholic, Evangelical and even more startling the born again Christian.

"How can we as Christians have any moral credibility before God and man when we are practicing the very thing we condemn in the form of immoral marital practices? Until we show as much hatred for our own sin in our churches and demand repentance we will continue to destroy the sanctity of marriage, even more than same sex marriage proponents. We have not been a very good example of morality or godliness before God and man."

AMEN.
