Santorum Explains Gay Agenda Effect on Children

Campaigning across Iowa, GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum answered questions about same-sex "marriage" truthfully to apparently stunned audiences. The media reaction has been mostly to ignore Santorum entirely, but in isolated instances the media has ignorantly dismissed his accurate presentations of actual empirical evidence of the negative effects of the Gay Agenda on society.
"Education has been, since the industrial revolution, very top down. One hundred years ago schools were basically run by parents and communities. Now, the government needs to get in as soon as it can to influence the educational lives of children." -- Senator Rick Santorum 12/9/11

Rick Santorum . . . at a campaign event at a small Christian college in Sioux Center, he had some tense back-and-forth exchanges with one student and another graduate of the college.

Santorum . . . said that if same sex marriage was legalized then “their sexual activity” would be seen as “equal” to heterosexual relationships and it would be taught in schools.

“Really- wow- um okay, well let’s see if we can have a discussion. We can flesh out some, well, let’s look at what’s going to be taught in our schools because now we have same sex couples being the same and their sexual activity being seen as equal and being affirmed by society as heterosexual couples and their activity,” Santorum said.

“So what is going to be taught to our people in health class in our schools? What is going to be taught to our children about who in our stories, even to little children — what are married couples? What families look like in America? So, you are going to have in our curriculum spread throughout our curriculum worldview that is fundamentally different than what is taught in schools today? Is that not a consequence of gay marriage?” he GOP hopeful asked.

"One of the impacts of same sex marriage is the normalization and inoculation of normalization of same-sex values," [Santorum] said.

Santorum addressed a crowd of more than 100, mostly students mixed with some community members, in the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center lobby at the University of Northern Iowa today.

He referred to God's presence in the lives of America's founding fathers and said that presence helped shape the country's roots. He lamented what he described as a loss of understanding of God-centered morality that he said has led to America's current struggles.

"The God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob gave us rights. And not just rights but responsibility," he said.

"People should have a right to live the life they want to lead, but that doesn't mean we have to adopt as matters of public policy, policies that change the basic value structure of our country to accommodate that [homosexual] lifestyle," Santorum responded.

He went on to tell the room of about 30 potential voters that homosexuals have worked for him and he does not believe they should be discriminated against because of their sexual orientation.

"But, that doesn't mean we should change the laws of this country to destabilize the American family, to change the way we look at religious liberty in this country, to accommodate a different value structure," Santorum added.

He went on to say America is built on Judeo-Christian values.

"Laws should try as much as possible to comport with the higher law and also should comport with what reason would dictate. And what reason dictates is that children need mothers and fathers," Santorum said. "What we're doing by changing the laws of marriage is denying children the opportunity to have a mother and a father. Some say, 'Well, through technology, same-sex couples can have children.' Well they can, through either adoption or artificial insemination ... but they don't get the mother and the father. ... Every child has the right to have their mother and their father."

Santorum accused Obama of saying he is for traditional marriage, while fighting against it in the courts and promoting gay lifestyles and gay rights.

Some schools already explicitly teach that there is no difference between same-sex families and traditional families. . . .

Education Secretary Arne Duncan has told schools to “go beyond what the law requires in order to increase” LGBT “students’ sense of belonging.”

Santorum has staked his campaign on his record as a champion of life and the family. In August he argued that if the United States drops opposition to same-sex “marriage” it will open the door to polygamy. If gay “marriage” is legal, why limit the institution “to just two people?” he asked.

After CNN host Piers Morgan said his Catholic beliefs that homosexuality is sinful were “bordering on bigotry,” Santorum responded, “Saying a church is bigoted because it holds that opinion that is Biblically based I think is in itself an act of bigotry.”
