Islamists are slaughtering thousands of minority Christians in Nigeria and demanding the expansion of inhumane Sharia Law, but that doesn't concern the Obama administration. Rather, President Obama has dispatched Secretary of State John Kerry to lambast the Nigerian government for restricting homosexual marriage and deviant sexual behavior.

-- From "Nigeria: Gunmen Kill 12 in Attacks in the Northeast" by The Associated Press 12/30/13
Gunmen attacked two Christian villages in the mainly Muslim region of northeastern Nigeria over the weekend and killed at least 12 people, witnesses said Monday. Survivors of the attacks in Borno State said eight people were killed when gunmen fired on a wedding party on Saturday night in Tashan-Alede, and four were killed Sunday in the nearby village of Kwajaffa.

From "Nigerian villagers: 30 killed in sectarian attack" by The Associated Press, 1/7/14
Gunmen shot and killed at least 30 people, burned down 40 homes and made off with scores of cattle from a mainly Christian village, survivors and a legislator said Tuesday as ongoing ethnic-religious conflict over land and water grips central Nigeria.
Human Rights Watch last month blamed Nigeria’s government, saying it has largely ignored years of “mass murder” in Nigeria’s Middle Belt and failed to prosecute known killers, leaving people to take to revenge killings that further fuel the cycle of violence.
Militants waging an Islamic uprising in northeast Nigeria have “invoked the lack of justice for attacks on Muslims” in these communities to justify killing Christians, the New York-based advocacy group said, amid fears the rebellion could spread.

From "Nigeria attacks: Villagers say soldiers joined in slaughter" by ASSIST News Service 1/10/14
Survivors of the January 6 slaughter of 33 Christians in a village in Nigeria's Plateau State said Special Task Force (STF) soldiers stationed to protect them turned their weapons on those fleeing the attack.
Reverend Yakubu Fom, pastor of the COCIN congregation at Riyom town . . . lamented that soldiers and other members of security agencies stationed in Shonong village did not keep Muslim attackers from murdering elderly Christian women and children in their homes.
"One wonders what the soldiers were doing in the village while the Muslim Fulani herdsmen killed and set fire on homes of our members without the soldiers repelling them," Morning Star News reported Fom said.

From "Kerry 'Deeply Concerned' By Nigeria's Ban on Same-Sex Marriage" by Susan Jones, CNSNews.com 1/14/14
According to the State Department's 2013 report on International Religious Freedom, Nigerian terrorists known collectively as Boko Haram "violently murdered hundreds of Christians and Muslims during the year" and "claimed responsibility for many of the 15 church attacks that killed more than 150 people, including scores of Christians, during worship services."
Last May, Secretary of State Kerry issued a news release condemning Boko Haram’s "campaign of terror in the strongest terms," but -- unlike his condemnation of Nigeria's anti-homosexual law -- he has never issued a statement specifically condemning the violence directed at Nigeria's Christians.
As CNSNews.com has reported, Boko Haram (the name roughly translates “Western education is prohibited”) has developed since 2009 from an obscure sect to a group responsible for the deaths of thousands of Christians and others, as it seeks to turn Nigeria -- Africa's biggest oil producer -- into an Islamic State.

From "Deep Concern with Nigeria's Enactment of the Same Sex Marriage Prohibition Act" Press Statement by John Kerry, Secretary of State, Washington, DC, January 13, 2014
The United States is deeply concerned by Nigeria’s enactment of the Same Sex Marriage Prohibition Act.
Beyond even prohibiting same sex marriage, this law dangerously restricts freedom of assembly, association, and expression for all Nigerians.
Moreover, it is inconsistent with Nigeria’s international legal obligations and undermines the democratic reforms and human rights protections enshrined in its 1999 Constitution.
People everywhere deserve to live in freedom and equality. No one should face violence or discrimination for who they are or who they love.
We join with those in Nigeria who appeal for the protection of their fellow citizens’ fundamental freedoms and universal human rights.
